475. KALAGU – KIZE ULU NAMANHYA NU NG’WANISHI WANE NIHONDELA: – BHUSATU.

Imbuki ya kalagu yiniyo, ililola munhu uyo alinsatu. Ubhusatu bhunubho, bhuganzonjaga umunhu ng’wunuyo, kunguno umili gokwe gugamalaga inguzu. Isata yigenhaga bhusunduhazu, ukulinsati ubho gugayiwa ulubhango. Hunagwene umunhu ng’wunuyo, agayombaga giki, ‘ulu namanhya nu ng’wanishi wane nihondela: – bhusatu.’

Ikalagu yiniyo, igalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu, uyo agagulang’hanaga chiza umili gokwe, kugiki adule gubhiza alimhola. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agatumamaga milimo yakwe bho makanza malihu, kunguno ya wilang’hani bhokwe ubho bhugang’wambilijaga gubhiza alimhola, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, nulu agasata aganguhaga guja kusitali, kugiki adule guping’wa, na gupandika bhugota, ubho bhudulile gumpija wangu. Hunagwene ulu osata agayombaga giki, ‘ulu namanhya nu ng’wanishi wane nihondela:- bhusatu.’

Ikalagu yiniyo, yalanga bhanhu higulya ya kuilang’hana chiza imimili yabho, na gwanguha guja kusitali ulu bhasata, kugiki bhadule gwikala mhola na gwendelea kutumama milimo yabho chiza.

NIKIKUTANA NA ADAUI YANGU MWILI UNANYONG’ONYEA: –  UGONJWA.

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho, chaangalia mtu ambaye ni mgonjwa. Mtu huyo, huhuzunika kwa sababu ya mwili wake kukosa nguvu za kumwezesha kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi zake. Ugonjwa huo, humletea huzuni ya kufikia hatua ya kukosa raha. Ndiyo maana, mtu huyo husema kwamba, ‘nikikutana na adui yangu mwili unanyong’onyea: – ugonjwa.’

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huutunza kwa kuuangalia vizuri mwili wake, ili uweze kuwa salama. Mtu huyo, hufanya kazi zake kwa muda mlefu, kwa sababu ya mwili wake huo, kuwa na matunzo mazuri, yauwezeshao kuwa salama, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hata kama akiuugua, huwahi kwenda hospitalini, kwa ajili ya kwenda kupimwa, na kupatiwa matibabu, yawezayo kumponya haraka.  Ndiyo maana mtu huyo husema kwamba, ‘nikikutana na adui yangu mwili unanyong’onyea: – ugonjwa.’

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kuilinda kwa kuitunza miili yao vizuri, na kuwahi kwenda hosipitalini, wanapougua, ili waweze kupata matibabu yawezayo kuwaponya haraka.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME

WHEN I MEET MY ENEMY MY BODY BECOMES WEAK- SICKNESS.

The source of this riddle is human body and sickness. Sickness makes people feel weak physically and therefore not able to perform their daily activities. It brings grief to the point of restlessness. That is why people can say ‘when I meet my enemy, the body becomes weak – sickness’ to communicate how sickness pulls down individual’s working abilities.

This riddle can be compared to a person who takes care of his/her body by ensuring that it is safe all the time. He/she makes sure that his/her body is cared for, hospitalized in case of any abnormality, treated well and fed well with nutritious food stuff. In so doing, one’s body will avoid from meeting an enemy who can weaken it.

This rriddle teaches people about protecting their bodies from diseases by taking good care of them. This includes going to hospital in case there is any sign of sickness and feeding them well. This will enable them to be healthy all the time and thus productive for the wellbeing of the family and society in general.

474. NAHAYIMANILA BHITULA BHANDEKA.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako, yililola bhanhu abho bhalwaga mubhulugu, umugulwa ng’wenumo, uluganda ulumo lupela. Uluganda lunulo, lugapelaga kunguno ya guhewa, umubhulugu bhunubho. Hunagwene uyo obhahebhaga agayombaga giki, ‘nahayimanila bhitula bhandeka.’

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo utumamaga milimo mingi iyo ilimitale. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, alina nguzu na bhukamu bhutale bho guitumama imilimo yiniyo, mpaga uyimala chiza.

Uweyi agalenganijiyagwa na munhu, uyo obhapyenaga bhanishi bhakwe umubhulugu bhunubho, mpaga bhupela, kunguno nu weyi agayitumamaga milimo mingi na mitale, mpaga uyimala chiza.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhalangaga na bhiye uguitumama imilimo yiniyo, bhobhukamu bhutale mpaka guyimala. Hunagwene uweyi, ulu oyimala imilimo yiniyo, agayombaga giki, ‘nahayimanila bhitula bhandeka.’

Akahahile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na bhukamu bhutale ubho bhudulile gubhambilija ijinaguitumama imilimo imingi na mitale, na guyimala chiza, kugiki bhadule gupandika matwajo mingi, umuwikaji bhobho.

Chanzo cha msemo huo, chaangalia watu ambao wako vitani, ambamo kundi moja huzidiwa, mpaka kufikia hatua ya kukimbia. Kundi hilo, hukimbia kwa sababhu ya kuzidiwa nguvu. Ndiyo maana yule aliyelishinda kundi hilo, husema kwamba, ‘nimeshtukia wametawanyika wameniacha.’

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hufanya kazi nyingi, na kubwa mpaka kuzimaliza, maishani mwake. Mtu huyo, ana nguvu na bidii kubwa ya kumwezesha kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi hizo mpaka mwisho.

Yeye hulinganishwa na mtu yule aliyewashinda maadui zake vitani, mpapa wakakimbia, kwa sababu naye huzitekeleza vizuri kazi hizo mpaka mwisho, ambazo ni nyingi na kubwa.

Mtu huyo, huwafundisha pia wenzake juu ya kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi hizo, kwa bidii kubwa mpaka kuzimaliza. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, ‘nimeshtukia wametawanyika wameniacha.’

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na bidii kubwa ya kuwawezesha kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi nyingi na kubwa, mpaka kuzimaliza, ili waweze kupata maendelea makubwa maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THEY HAVE SUDDENLY RUN AWAY LEAVING ME ALONE.

The essence of this saying is groups of people at war where one group, after being overpowered, escapes. This group runs away to escape death or being captured as captives. The remaining group can describe this situation by using the saying that ‘they have suddenly run away leaving me alone.’

The saying can be compared to a person who does the most and greatest works in his/her life. Such a person has power and effort to enable him/her to carry out those tasks to the end. The saying can also be compared to a man/woman defeated in his/her struggle and decides to run away from competition, leaving others to move on.

The saying teaches people about having a greater effort to enable them to carry out more and more tasks and to finish them. This will enable them to have good life in future.

Uwingi bhunubho, hubho bhuli bho mishango. Hunagwene abhanhu abho obhaleka, bhagayombaga giki, umunhu ng’wunuyo, ‘winga bho mishango.’

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu, uyo otabhanyiyagwa mhayo, nulu nimo uyo guli ndito, wiyangula gwinga hoyi. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agadumaga umowitile, hunagwene agiyangulaga gwinga hoyi, kunguno ogulemelagwa umhayo, nulu unimo gunuyo. Hunagwene abhanhu abhanganhayaga giki, ‘winga bho mishango.’

Akahahile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na wiyumilija bho guchola nzila ja gugamala chiza, amakoye ayo bhalinago, gutinda ugugapela, kugiki bhadule gujibheja chiza, ikaya jabho.

The origin of the above saying is the forced departure of a person from a certain place. The departure can be through running or walking. This forced departure of an individual can make people describe it using the saying that ‘one has left here hastly.’

The saying can be compared to a person who is burdened with a problem or word, which is too heavy for him to bear until he decides to quit from it. This person might be unable to find ways to solve it as a result he/she can force himself/herself to quit the place.

The saying teaches people about having patience in order to allow them to find ways to better solve their problems. Running away from them does not help to solve them.

The source of the saying is coming from a person who was talking with his colleagues then left for a while. When the person leaves the scene with an expectation to return later, it is explained that he has left just now. That’s why his/her friends will say, ‘we were with him; he has left just now.’

The saying can be compared to those people who do their jobs together and with great harmony.

Those he/she has left will wait for him/her with hope, because they understand that he/she will return soon to carry on their responsibilities together. That’s why those people can say, ‘we were with him; he has left just now.’

The saying teaches people about doing their jobs together. This can enable them to finish their works on time and in a successful manner.

Yeye hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye, ni mkali aliyeamliwa na jua, kwa sababu naye, hufanya kazi kwa bidii kubwa, kuanzia asubuhi, mpaka jioni, anapoamuliwa na jua. Mtu huyo, hufanya kazi mpaga anaacha kuliona jua, ndipo anaondoka kazini kwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, ‘jua liliamua wakali.’

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na bidii ya kufanya kazi, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, yawezayo kuziendeleza vizuri, familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THE SUN DECIDED ON THE FURIOUS ONES.

The source of this proverb is the zeal of people. People can always show zeal during day time. When the sun goes down, people stop even doing their jobs, because they can’t see properly. That is why people can say ‘the sun decided on the furious ones.’

The proverb can be compared to a person, for example, an artist who performs his/her duties with great diligence, that is, from sunrise to sunset. Such a person, in his/her work, the sun determines his/her ability and to describe such a person one can use the proverb that ‘the sun decided on the furious one.’

This proverb teaches people to work hard so that they can achieve many successes. Those successes can help to better off their lives and for the better future.
