608. NG’HOLO YA NHAB’I IDABYALAGA.

Imbuki ya lusumo lunulo, yililola bhujidabyala bho ng’holo ya nhab’i.  Ing’holo yiniyo, iya nhab’i uyo alinayo imo duhu, igabhizaga ilolilwe na bhuli katumamile, guti nzala nulu gugenihwa na bhageni. Iyoyi igatumamilagwa duhu haho itali nugubyala. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘ng’holo ya nhab’i idabyalaga.’

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo adina jikolo ahakaya yakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ung’wunuyo, agabhizaga na makoye mingi, kunguno akambiligije kakwe kali kamakoye.

Uweyi agapandikaga jikolo ijo agajimalaga bho likanza liguhi duhu, guti nu nhab’i uyo agaitumilaga ing’holo yakwe, haho itali nulu gubyala, kunguno ya gwisongwa na makoye mingi aha ng’wakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu abhagayombaga giki, ‘ng’holo ya nhab’i idabyalaga.’

KISWAHILI: KONDOO WA FUKARA HAZAI.

Chanzo cha methali hiyo, chaangalia kutozaa kwa kondoo wa maskini. Kondoo huyo, ambaye ni wa fukara mwenye naye mmoja tu, hutegemewa kutumika kwenye kila shida, kama vile kununua chakula, na kuandaa mboga ya wageni. Yeye hutumiwa hata kabla hajazaa. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘kondoo wa fukara hazai.’

Methali huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hana vitu kama vile mali kwenye familia yake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hukumbwa na matatizo mengi sana maishani mwake, kwa sababu ya kukosa mali ya kumsaidia katika kuyatatua matatizo hayo.

Yeye hupata mali kidogo tu ambazo huzimaliza kwa muda mfupi, kama yule fukara atumiavyo kondoo wake hata kabla hajazaa, kwa sababu ya kusongwa na matatizo mengi kwenye familia yake. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘kondoo wa fukara hazai.’

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kujibidisha kutafuta mali kwa kufanya kazi zao kwa bidii kubwa, ili waweze kupata mali ya kuwaondolea matatizo, katika maisha yao. Yafaa watu hao, waache tabia ya kutegemea kitu kidogo walicho nacho.

ENGLISH: THE SHEEP OF THE POOR CANNOT REPRODUCE .

The source of this saying is the fertility of the poor’s sheep. The poor’s sheep is the only possession he/she has and he/she depends on it if he/she faces a problem such as shortage of food in his/her family. The poor’s sheep will end up being used before it multiplies. Therefore, whatever little he/she can have in life cannot multiply to make him/her a successful person. In such a context, people came with the saying that ‘The sheep of the poor cannot reproduce.’

The saying can be compared to a person who does not have anything in his/her family. This person can suffer for lacking something to support his/her life. Even the little resource he/she can manage to get can last only for few days.

This saying teaches people to work hard to get rich. They need to work hard and avoid giving up easily in their struggle.

607. DILU MAKINGO NU MANULA SHIIGI.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako, yilolile shiigi. Ishiigi yiniyo, jili ginhu ijo jigabhungaga masonga umugati yajo. Unimo go masonga genayo, guli gulasila aliyo unasi mpaga wikale nabho ubhuta, ubho bhugatumamilagwa kihamo na masonga. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘dilu makingo nu manula shiigi.’

Akahayile kenako, kagaleganijiyagwa kuli Munhu uyo agipunaga dilu osola jitumamilo jakwe na kuja gujutumama milimo, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, aganguhaga ugumisha obhucha jilanga jakwe ija gutumamila, kugiki agaitumame imilimo yakwe bho likanza lilihu gushiga mpaga aho ligasebhele ilimi.

Uweyi agamanulaga jilanga ija gujilanija nu nimo gokwe giti: Igembe, Panga, Mbasa, sululu na jingi. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, ulu wipunaga guja kwisoma, agubhucha jilanga jakwe guti Jitabho, kalamu na jingi jingi.  Uweyi agasolaga jilanga ijijikomile ugugutumama unimo uyo alinago. Hunagwene agayombaga giki, ‘dilu makingo nu manula shiigi.’

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gulonja ikanza lya gwipuna dilu na guja gujutumama milimo yabho, bho b’o nguzu nijilanga jabho bhabhuchije umu makono, kugiki bhadule gupandika matwajo mingi, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: ASUBUHI MAPEMA NACHUKUA PODO.

Chanzo cha msemo huo,  chaangalia podo. Podo ni chombo cha kuhifadhia mishale ndani yake. Kazi ya mishale hiyo, ni pamoja na kurusha (kuchoma) pale ambapo mhusika hutumia upinde unaofaa kurusha mishale hiyo. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘asubuhi mapema nachukua podo.’

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule anayeamuka mapema asubuhi akachukua kifaa chake cha kufanyia kazi, na kwenda kufanya kazi, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwahi kuamka na kuchukua silaha yake ya kufanyia kazi ili akafanye kazi kwa muda mrefu mpaka kufikia wakati wa jua kuwa kali.

Yeye huchukua vifaa vya kufanyia kazi kama vile: jembe, panga, Shoka, Sululu, na vingine vingi. Anapoenda kusoma huchukua vitabu, peni, kalamu lula na vingine vingi. Mtu huyo, huchukua kifaa cha kazi kinachoweza kumsaidia katika kuitekeleza vizuri kazi yake hiyo. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, ‘asubuhi mapema nachukua podo.’

Msemo huo, hufundisna watu juu ya kujali muda wa kwenda kazini kwao, wakiwa na vifaa vya kuitekelezea kazi yao hiyo, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: EARLY IN THE MORNING I TAKE THE QUIVER.

The source of this saying is the quiver. A quiver is a tool for keeping arrows. Arrows are mainly used for shooting. People tend to leave their homes very early in the morning in order to go hunting. This scenario of leaving very early in the morning can be described using the saying that ‘early in the morning I take the quiver.’

This saying can be compared to a person who wakes up early in the morning and picks up his/her working equipment and goes to work. This person can be someone who can work in his/her farm from sunrise to sunset. He/she uses farming equipment such plough, sword, axe, pickaxe, and much more. To students, the working tools could be books, pens and much more.

This saying teaches people about caring for their time. People should respect time so that they can be able to finish their works on time.

Imbuki ya kalagu yiniyo, ililola B’ambu. Ib’ambu jili jisumva ijo jili ja gukamaga gete, gunguno jigamanaga jigalucha galucha umili gojo, aho juja jugikola naho jimaga.  Iyoyi ili na bhusabhi bho makelule agagwikola naho yimaga. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagiganilaga giki, ‘kasab’i ka kakelule:- Kab’ambu.’

Ikalagu yiniyo, igalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo, adabhudimilaga chiza ubhung’hana, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agalondejaga akikalile kabhanhu abho alabhasange, kugiki adule gupandika jiliwa, umukikalile kakwe, guti ni b’ambu umo igikolelaga naho yimilaga.

Uweyi agab’ib’isaga abhanhu abho bhamhanile, bho gwigalucha umili gokwe, kugiki abho bhamanile bhanjimilwe, nabho obhasangaga bhahaye giki aling’wichabho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagiganilaga giki, ‘kasab’i ka kakelule:- Kab’ambu.’

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho, chaamwangalia Kinyonga. Kinyonga ni kiumbe wa kuashangaza kabisa, kwa sababu ya kujigeuze geuza mwili wake kila anapoenda, ili uweze kufanana na rangi ya pale alipo. Mwenyewe ana utajiri wa rangi wa kujifananisha na rangi ya pale alipo simama. Ndiyo maana watu huhadithiana kwamba, ‘tajiri wa rangi:- Kinyonga.’

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye haushikilii vizuri ukweli katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hufuata mkumbo wa kufanana na wale anaowakuta kila aendapo, ili aweze kupata chakula, katika maisha yake, kama kinyonga afananavyo na rangi ya pale aliposimama.

Yeye hujificha kwa watu wanaomfahamu kwa kujibadili tabia yake, ili wanaomfahamu wasimtambue, na wale anaowakuta, wamfikirie kwamba yeye ni mwenzao. Ndiyo maana watu huhadithiana kwamba, ‘tajiri wa rangi:- Kinyonga.’

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kuishikilia vizuri njia ya kumfuata Yesu Kristo, kwa kuyaishi maagizo yake, bila kubadilika kama kinyonga, ili waweze kufika kwenye uzima wa milele.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

HE IS RICH IN COLOURS – CHAMELEON.

The source of this riddle is a reptile by the name of chameleon. Chameleon is a very strange reptile because it is capable of changing colours according to the environment it is in. It is an organism that is assumed to be rich in colours. This habit of chameleon of having different colours made people to come up with their riddle that ‘He is rich in colours – chameleon’ in order to justify the power of chameleon to change its colours according to different environment.

This riddle can be compared to a person who does not hold the truth in his/her life. This person tends to change over time as he/she encounters different environment and different people. The aim of this person to do so might be seeking acceptance from different people and environment. Such people can tend to hide themselves from other people who know them by adjusting their behaviours.

This riddle teaches people to follow Jesus Christ by living His commandments. People should not change their ways in their efforts to abide by God’s commandments. In so doing, they will be able to enter the God’s Kingdom.

Giko lulu nulu ilitula mbula iyoyi igagushogejaga untwe goyo ng’wigula lyayo linilo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagiganilaga giki, ‘naguji nkumuku agusimizaga na numba yakwe hangongo:- Gulumadi.’

Ikalagu yiniyo, igalenganijiyagwa kuli Yesu Kristo uyo ali naguji Nkumuku. UYesu ali na bhudula bho gubhapija abho bhanzunije umukikalile kabho. Abhanhu bhenabho, bhagapijiyagwa nanghwe umumakoye ganeyo, kunguno uweyi alina bhudula bho gubhingija ishibhi jabho, abhanhu bhenabho.

Abhanhu bhenabho, bhagasimzaga bhang’wisanije weyi umukikalile kabho, kunguno bhagalunganaga naghwe, umukikalile kabho kose, gubhitila bhatizimu. Hunagwene bhagabhaganilaga abhanhu giki, ‘naguji nkumuku agusimzaga na numba yakwe hangongo:- Gulumadi.’

Hivyo basi, yeye ikinyesha mvua hukirudisha kichwa chake kwenye gamba hilo. Ndiyo maana watu huhadithiana kwamba, ‘mganga maarufu anatembea na nyumba yake mgongoni:- Kobe.’

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa Yesu Kristo ambaye ni Mganga Maarufu. Yesu anao uwezo wa kuwaponya watu wanaomwamini katika maisha yao. Watu hao, huponyeshwa kwenye matatizo  na Yesu kwa sababu Yeye anauwezo wa kuwaondolea watu dhambi zao.

Watu hao, hutembea wakiwa wanamtumaini yeye katika maisha yao, kwa sababu ya wao kuungana naye Katika maisha yao kwa njia ya ubatizo. Ndiyo maana wao huhadithiana kwamba, ‘mganga maarufu anatembea na nyumba yake mgongoni:- Kobe.’

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kumwamini Yesu Kristo, kwa kubatizwa na kuyaishi maagizo yake, maishani mwao, ili yeye awaokea kwenye maisha ya kupotea na kuwapatia maisha ya uzima wa milele mbinguni.

THE FAMOUS TRADITIONAL HEALER WALKS WITH HIS HOUSE ON HIS BACK – TORTOISE.

The source of this riddle is the creature by the name of tortoise. The tortoise has a hard shell on its back that protects it from various dangers. So when it senses some danger it retracts its head and hides it. That is why people say ‘the famous traditional healer walks with his house on his back – tortoise’ to communicate the behaviour of tortoise.

This riddle can be compared to Jesus Christ, the Great Physician. Jesus has the power to heal those who believe in Him. Jesus has the power to take away their sins. Having trust in Jesus makes people have relief in their lives because they are served by Him through baptism.

This riddle teaches people about believing in Jesus Christ by being baptized and living God’s commandments.

Gwingila kale ulu munhu uzumalika, aha gubheja inumba yakwe, bhagasimbaga bho magembe ahasi bhamba ginhu jilebhe bhogubhegeleja chiza. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagitanaga giki, ‘gub’imbilwa magembe/gwambilwa hasi.’

Chanzo cha methali hiyo, chatokea kwenye hali ya kuandaliwa kaburi kwa kutumia majembe. Kuezekewa majembe au kutamdikwa chini, ni kuzikwa kwa kutumia majembe. Tangu zamani akifariki mtu watu hutumia majembe kuchimba kaburi na kutandika chini kwenye kaburi lake, ndipo wanamuweka ndani yake. Ndiyo maana watu waliita hali hiyo kwamba ni ‘kuezekewa majembe/kutandikiwa chini.’

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwajali vizuri watu waliofariki. Mtu huyo, huenda kuwazika wenzake hao walioaga dunia mara asikiapo utaratibu wa maziko yao.

Yeye ni mfano wa kuigwa na wenzake kwa kuwa  na huruma ya kuwazika wafu. Mtu huyo, huwahimiza pia wenzake kwa njia ya maisha yake, kwenda kuandaa kaburi na kushiriki kwa ukamilifu katika maziko hayo ya wafu wao na wa wenzao. Ndiyo maana yeye huwafundisha watu juu ya ‘kuezekewa majembe/kutandikiwa chini.’

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na huruma ya kuwajali wafu kwa kuwazika vizuri, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuishi vizuri na wenzao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: TO BE DUG WITH HOES.

The source of this saying is burial ceremony. During burial, hoes are always used as weapons for digging the grave and after the digging comes mats that are spead in the grave for the dead body to lie on. To communicate this scenario, people came with this saying that ‘To be dug with hoes’ to mean the whole process from preparing the grave to lying down of the dead body.

This saying can be compared to people who care for the dead. Such people would like to offer decent burial to their beloved ones. They also teach others about attending other people’s burials.

 This saying teaches people about compassion and caring for the dead. Dead people need to have decent burials.
