528. NHABHALA IDATULAGA LUPUNDU.

Imbuki ya lusumo lunulo yilolile nhabhala. Inhabhala yiniyo lililiyanga guti sada nulu lufu. Kuyiniyo lulu, isada n’ulufu jidatulaga lupundu, kunguno jigingilaga duhu ukubhanhu, bho nduhu uguhodisha. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘nhabhala idatulaga lupundu.’

Ulusumo lunulo lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agiyumilijaga ulu opandigaga mayange. Uweyi adebhile igiki inhabhala yiniyo igajaga ukubhanhu duhu, iyo igabhapandikaga bho nduhu ugudebha, kunguno idatulaga lupundu.

Uweyi agabhalanjaga n’abhiye inzila ja gudula gwiyumilija ulu bhapandikagaga mayanga, kunguno alijigemelo jawiza ugubhitila umuwiyumilija bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhanhu giki, ‘nhabhala idatulaga lupundu.’

KISWAHILI: MATATIZO HAYAPIGI VIGELEGELE.

Chanzo cha methali hii chaangalia matatizo mbalimbali. Matatizo hayo ni pamoja na ugonjwa au kifo. Kwa hiyo basi, ugonjwa na kifo huwa havipigi vigelegele, kwa sababu huwa vinaingia tu kwa watu bila kubisha hodi. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘matatizo hayapigi vigelegele.’

Methali hii hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huvumilia katika matatizo mbalimbali maishani mwake. Mtu huyo anafahamu kwamba matatizo hayo huenda kwa watu, ambayo huwapata bila kuelewa, kwa sababu yenyewe hayapigi kigelegele yanapomfikia mtu fulani.

Yeye huwafundisha na wenzake namna ya kuweza kuyavumilia matatizo hayo yanapowapata, kwa sababu ya yeye kuwa mfano wa kuigwa kupitia uvumilivu wake. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watu kwamba, ‘matatizo hayapigi vigelegele.’

Methali hiyo hufundisha watu kuwa wavumilivu wanapopatwa na matatizo mbalimbali, kwa sababu matatizo hayo huwapata watu, ili waweze kuyamaliza vizuri maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: PROBLEMS DO NOT ULULATE.

The origin of this proverb is various problems. Such problems include sickness and death. Sickness and death do not ululate, because they can only befall people without notice. That is why people say, ‘problems do not ululate’

The proverb is used comparatively to refer to any person who endures problems in life. The person realizes that problems befall people without notice, because they do not ululate. That person teaches others how to cope with the problems they face, because of he/she being a role model through her emdurance. That is why he/she tells people, ‘problems do not ululate.’

This proverb teaches people to endure when they experience various problems, because those problems are experienced by people, so that they can finish them well in their lives.

523. GUNKAANYA MIMBI GULOBHEKA NGOYE.

Imbuki ya lusumo lunulo ilolile mimbi o numba. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agamanaga udilila milimo yingi bho guguleka uyo ogupandika gwandya. Ugunduja gokwe, ulu ung’witana gwiza gubhimba numba, jilobhekage ingoye ija guyibimbila inumba yiniyo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘gunkaanya mimbi gulobheka ngoye.’

 Ulusumo lunulo lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agatumamaga milimo yakwe bho nduhu ugwigola chiza. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agatumamaga hadoni ogayiwa ginhu jilebhe, ijo yigelelilwe abhize najo haho atali ugwandya ugugutumama unimo gunuyo. Uweyi adulile nulu gugayiwa jipimilo ja numba, aliyo alinzengi o numba.

Abhanhu abho bhandebhile igiki adigolaga bho gujikalana pye ijitumamilo jakwe, bhagang’winhaga ijo ojilekelaga huna omala ugugutumama unimo guniyo. Hungwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘gunkaanya mimbi gulobheka ngoye.’

Ulusumo lunulo lolanga bhanhu gwibhegeleja chiza haho bhatali ugwandya ugutumama imilimo yabho, kugiki bhadule uguyitumama mpaka guishisha ahangelelo yajo.

KISWAHILI: KUMWEZA MWEZEKAJI NI KULOWEKA KAMBA.

Chanzo cha methali hii chaangalia mwezekaji wa nyumba. Mtu huyo huwa anajali zaidi kazi zingine, kwa kuzitelekeza zile alizozipata mwanzoni. Hivyo, ukitaka kumweza mtu huyo, anayetaka kuja kukuezekea nyumba yako, ziloweke zile kamba ambazo atazitumia kuiezekea nyumba hiyo. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘kumweza mwezekaji ni kuloweka kamba.’

Methali hii hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hufanya kazi zake bila kuwa na maandalizi ya kutosha. Mtu huyo hufanya kazi kidogo na kudai kuishiwa kitu fulani, ambacho alitakiwa awe nacho kabla ya kuianza kazi hiyo. Yeye huweza hata kusahau kipimio wakati yeye ni mjenzi wa nyumba.

Watu wanaomfahamu mtu huyo kwamba hajiandai vizuri, humletea vifaa asivyokuwa navyo hapo kazini, na kumsimamia, ndipo anamaliza kazi hiyo vizuri. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘kumweza mwezekaji ni kuloweka kamba.’

Methali hii hufundisha watu kufanya maandalizi ya kutosha kabla ya kuanza kufanya kazi zao, ili waweze kuzikamiliza kazi hizo kwa umakini unaotakiwa.

ENGLISH: DEFEATING A THATCHER REQUIRES ONE TO PUT THATCHING ROPES IN WATER BEFOREHAND.

The origin of this proverb is a thatcher. A thatcher usually pays attention to other tasks and neglects the tasks he acquired earlier. To get him, put the thatching ropes in water beforehand. That is why people say, ‘Defeating a thatcher requires one to put thatching ropes in water beforehand.’

The proverb is used comparatively with reference to a person who performs his/her duties without adequate preparation. The person works a little bit and claims shortage of something, which he/she is actually supposed to have before the start of the task at hand. For instance, a bricklayer may claim to have forgotten his/her water/spirit level.

People who know the person of such unpreparedness character bring to the site all the tools needed and supervise him/her until he/she finishes the job well. That is why people say, ‘Defeating a thatcher requires one to put thatching ropes in water beforehand’..

This proverb teaches people to prepare themselves before their assignments, so that they can complete the tasks as adequately and carefully as they should.

513. UYO AGAJAGA BHO GWIKE ADULENGANILA NUYO AGIGASHAGA BHO GWIKE.

Imbuki ya lusumo lunulo, yilolile bhanhu bhabhili.  Umunhu uogwandya alinsiminzi, uo kabhili aling’wigashi. Umunhu uyo agasiminzaga bho dalali ung’wene adulile gupandika josejose, umulugendo lokwe lunulo.

Aliyo lulu, umunhu uyo agigashaga dalali, ungwene adapandikaga nulu ginhu josejose, kunguno uweyi agikalaga asagile haho kaya duhu. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘uyo agajaga bho gwike adulenganilila nuyo agigashaga bho gwike.’

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agapandikaga sabho, kunguno ya bhukamu bhokwe ubho gutumama milimo. Uweyi alemile uwinogolelwa bho gutumama milimo aha ng’wakwe. Adazunije ugwikala wigashije bho nduhu nimo gose gose, kunguno adebhile igiki ung’wigashi uo bhuli makanza adapandikaga jose jose.

Kuyiniyo lulu, agabhalanjaga abhanhu bhakwe higulya ya gwigulambija kutumama milimo yabho, kugiki bhadule gupandika sabho ja gudula gubhambilija ijinagujibheja chiza ikaya jabho. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhanhu giki, ‘uyo agajaga bho gwike adulenganilila nuyo agigashaga bho gwike.’

Chanzo cha methali hiyo, chaangalia watu wawili. Mmoja ni mtembeaji, mwingine ni mkaaji. Mtu yule anayetembea bure huweza kupata chochote, katika safari yake hiyo.

Lakini mtu yule ambaye, hukaa bure kwa muda wote, hapati chochote, kwa sababu yeye hutumia muda wake wote akiwa nyumbani tu. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘anayeenda bure si sawa na anayekaa bure.’

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule, ambaye hupata mali kwa sababu ya bidii yake ya kufanya kazi. Yeye hataki uvivu wa kutokufanya kazi kwenye familia yake. Huwakataza watu wa nyumbani kwake kukaa bila kufanya kazi yoyote, kwa sababu anafahamu kwamba, yule anayekaa bure muda wote hapati chochote.

Kwa hiyo basi, yeye huwafundisha watu wake namna ya kuongeza bidii ya kufanya kazi, ili waweze kupata mali za kuwasaidia katika kuziendeleza vizuri familia zao. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watu kwamba, ‘anayeenda bure si sawa na anayekaa bure.’

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuyatekeleza majukumu yao kwa bidii kubwa, ili waweze kuacha uvivu kazini. Bidii hiyo, itawasaidia katika kuziletea maendeleo familia zao.

ENGLISH:  ONE WHO GOES FREE IS NOT THE SAME AS ONE WHO LIVES FREE.

The source of the above proverb, came from two people. The first one used to walk from one place to another, while the second one used just to stay at home. The free walker managed to find jobs, in his or her journey.

But the one who stays free  at home all the time, got nothing, because he/she spent all the time just by staying without doing anything. That is why people say, ‘One who goes free is not the same as one who lives free.’

Such proverb is then compared to the person who earns a living because of his/her hard working life. This person does not want laziness of not working at his family. He forbids his/her family members to stay idle, because he/she knows that the one who stays the whole time without working, does one earn anything.

Therefore, this person teaches other people on how to increase their efforts in hard working activities, so that they can find many basic needs  enough to take care of their families. That is why this person tells people that, ‘One who goes free is not the same as one who lives free.’

Such proverb imparts in people an idea of carrying out their tasks with great effort, so that they can stop laziness at work. This effort will enable them to get basic needs for improving their families.

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu, uyo alintumami gete o milimo. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agaitumamaga imilimo yiniyo, bho bhukamu bhutale, gwingila aho ligafumilaga ilimi, mpaga aho ligagwilaga.

Uweyi agalenganijiyagwa na munhu uyo alimchilu, uyo agafungagwa limi, kunguno nang’hwe, agatumamaga milimo, mpaga, agafungagwa limi duhu. Uweyi agatumamaga milimo mpaga oya ugulibhona ilimi, huna ogodoka, ukumilimo yiniyo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, ‘limi lyafunga bhachilu.’

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule, ambaye ni mchapa kazi kweli. Mtu huyo hufanya kazi zake hizo, kwa bidii kubwa, yaani huanzia wakati wa mawio ya jua, hadi machweo yake.

Yeye hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye, ni mkali aliyeamliwa na jua, kwa sababu naye, hufanya kazi kwa bidii kubwa, kuanzia asubuhi, mpaka jioni, anapoamuliwa na jua. Mtu huyo, hufanya kazi mpaga anaacha kuliona jua, ndipo anaondoka kazini kwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, ‘jua liliamua wakali.’

ENGLISH: THE SUN DECIDED ON THE FURIOUS ONES.

The source of this proverb is the zeal of people. People can always show zeal during day time. When the sun goes down, people stop even doing their jobs, because they can’t see properly. That is why people can say ‘the sun decided on the furious ones.’

The proverb can be compared to a person, for example, an artist who performs his/her duties with great diligence, that is, from sunrise to sunset. Such a person, in his/her work, the sun determines his/her ability and to describe such a person one can use the proverb that ‘the sun decided on the furious one.’

This proverb teaches people to work hard so that they can achieve many successes. Those successes can help to better off their lives and for the better future.

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni tajiri, lakini hukosa kitu kidogo sana, kama mshipa huo wa kuku. Mtu huyo, hata awe tajiri mkubwa kiasi gani, kitakuwepo tu, kitu kile ambacho hatakuwa na nacho, katika familia yake.

Kitu hicho, akikosacho kwakwe mtu huyo, ndicho hicho kifananacho na mshipa ule wa kuku. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, ‘utakosa mshipa wa kuku.’

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na unyenyekevu wa kuwawezesha matajiri na maskini, kuishi pamoja, ili kile anachokikosa mmoja wao, aweze kukipata kutoka kwa mwenzake, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: YOU WILL FAIL TO HAVE A CHICKEN VEIN.

The source of the saying is the vein of a chicken. This vein is considered to be very small in size. Despite its small size it has its own importance for the survival of the chicken. One can have a lot of properties but fail to have a very small item which is very essential in his/her life. This is why people can tell such a person that ‘you will fail to have a chicken vein’ to communicate the message that human beings cannot easily have self-sufficiency in life.

The saying can be compared to a rich man who claims to be self-sufficient in terms of possession of properties but, in actual fact, he may be missing some small items which are more important in his life.

This saying teaches people about humility by advicing rich individuals not to despite their poor counterpart rather consider them as fellow individuals who might be having some abilities that are not found in the rich fellows. Humility can enable them have peace and love.
