KISWAHILI: ACHA UDOEAJI UTAISHIA PABAYA.

Yeye huwa hatulii nyumbani kwake.

ENGLISH: STOP SCROUNGING TO AVOID HAVING A BAD ENDING.

The source of the above saying looks at the behaviour of scrounging that can make someone have a bad ending in life. This comes from someone who is used to eating food from other peoples’ households. Such a person does not settle well in his/her home rather spends much of the time loitering around looking for where to sponge food. People of this behaviour can be warned by the saying that ‘stop scrounging to avoid having a bad ending.’

This saying can be compared to a person who goes out to eat in other people’s families. He/she always looks for families where there is smoke with the hope that he/she can get food. In the end, such people can be labled as smoke waiters.

The saying teaches people to stop being idle rather they should engage in productive activities that can enable them to survive.
