Ikale abhagiti bhenabho, bhegaga njubha (lubha) nulu luhelengo ahakaya iyo gwigelaga nimo, guti go winga, bho gusola wasa bhuli ng’wene, kugiki  ulu bhalatung’wanhe bhabhize bhamalaga ugugutumama unimo gunuyo. ‘hunagwene abhanhu bhenabho bhagiganilaga giki, ‘pindaga aha nu nene napinde uko dutung’wanhe:- gwega lub’a.’

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho, chatokea kwenye utengenezaji wa wigo. Utengenezaji huo, huwapata nafasi mafundi kugawana sehemu za kutengeneza, kila mmoja, ili waweze kukutana wanapofunga kazi hizo.

Zamani watu walikuwa wanatengeneza wigo wanapokuwa na matukio mbalimbali, yakiwemo yale ya harusi, lengo lao ni kuwapatia watu nafasi ya kukaa. Ndiyo maana watu hao walihadithiana kwamba, ‘zunguka pale na mimi nizunguke kule tukutane:- kutengeneza wigo.’

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa watu wale wanaofanya kazi kwa kusaidiana vizuri, maishani mwao. Watu hao, huyatekeleza majukumu yao kwa kusaidiana pamoja. Wao wana upendo wa kuishi pamoja katika utekelezaji wa kazi zao.

Watu hao, hufanana na watengenezaji wa wigo, kwa sababu nao huzizingira vizuri kazi zao, katika maisha yao hayo. Umoja wao huo wa kusaidiana huwafundisha wenzao juu ya kuishi katika umoja wa kushirikiana katika utekelezaji wa kazi zao, maishani mwao. Ndiyo maana watu hao huhadithiana kwamba, ‘zunguka pale na mimi nizunguke kule tukutane:- kutengeneza wigo.’

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na upendo wa kusaidiana pamoja katika kuyatekeleza majukumu yao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

GO AROUND THERE AND I WILL TURN AROUND TO MEET – TO CREATE A FENCE.

The source of this riddle is the construction of fence. In constructing fences, constructors tend to divide the fence into parts where one person or group of people will begin the construction from one point and the other person/group of people will begin the same construction moving the opposite direction from the first person/group. Finally they will meet when finishing up the fence. This whole process can be described using the riddle ‘Go around there and I will turn around to meet – to create a fence.’

The construction of fences was common in the past and it was used during wedding ceremonies as they helped to get space for people to sit and enjoy the wedding ceremony.

This riddle can be compared to those people who work well together in their lives. These people have a spirit of working together and therefore being able to finish their works on time. Their dedication to work and togetherness teaches other people about cooperation and solidarity in achieving something.

This riddle teaches people about having love to others and helping each other in fulfilling their responsibilities.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, alemile ugudima mihayo mingi umulikanza limo, kunguno ajidebhile isolobho ja gutumama nimo gumo ukwikanza limo. Uweyi akikolaga ni mhumi iyo igalumilaga kunkila duhu, kunguno nuwei, agatumama nimo gumo mpaga ogumala chiza, umuwikaji bhokwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhalanjaga na bhiye ugwikomeja gutumama nimo gumo mpaga bhagumale chiza. Hunagwene umunhu ng’wunuyo agabhaganilaga giki, ‘kali na nomo aliyo kagalumaga bho nkila:- Kakomi.’

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho, chaangalia mdudu anayeitwa Nge. Mdudu huyo, ana mdomo lakini hutumia kung’atia mkia tu. Ndiyo kusema kwamba, yeye anakifaa kimoja tu cha kufanyia kazi. Ndiyo maana  watu huhadithiana kwamba, ‘ana mdomo lakini hung’ata kwa kutumia mkia:- Nge.’

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huitekeleza kazi moja hadi kuimaliza vizuri bila kuanza nyingile, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hataki kushika kazi nyingi kwa muda mmoja, kwa sababu anazielewa faida za kutekeleza kazi moja kwa muda mumoja. Faida hizo, ni pamoja na kumwezesha kuimaliza kwa haraka kazi hiyo aliyoianza.

Yeye hufanana na Nge ang’ataye kwa kutumia mkia tu, kwa sababu naye hutekeleza kazi moja hadi kuimaliza vizuri, maishani mwake. Mtu huyo, huwafundisha pia wenzake namna ya kujibidisha kufanya kazi moja tu hadi waweze kuimala kwa haraka. Ndiyo maana watu huhadithiana kwamba, ‘ana mdomo lakini hung’ata kwa kutumia mkia:- Nge.’

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kushika njia moja tu iliyo njema, ili waweze kuishi pamoja na Muumba wa Mbingu na Nchi. Yafaa watu hao, waifuatilie njia ya kumfuata Yesu Kristo, ambaye ni Njia ya kuwafikisha Mbunguni.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

IT HAS A MOUTH BUT IT STINGS WITH ITS TAIL – SCORPION.

The source of this riddle is an insect by the name of scorpion. This insect tends to use a tail when it wants to sting someone. It spares its mouth for eating and other uses but stinging is reserved for its tail. This is why people came with the riddle that ‘It has a mouth but it stings with its tail – scorpion’ to describe the behaviour of this insect.

This riddle can be compared to a person who carries out one task to its completion stage before starting another task. Such a person knows what it means to concentrate on only one task before shifting to another one. Such a person can be likened to a scorpion that knows which part of the body to be used for a certain purpose. A person of this caliber teaches others on how to commit to one task until it is finished.

This riddle teaches people about keeping one focus all the time. For religious people, they need to follow the path created by Jesus Christ who is the Way to Heaven.

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho, chaangalia mvulana ambaye hajaoa. Mvulana huyo, hufanya maangalizi ya kutosha kumwezesha kuimaliza vizuri kazi ya arusi yake. Maandalizi hayo pia, ni ya kumwezesha kuelewa namna atavyoiendesha familia yake. Ndiyo maana watu huhadithiana kwamba, ‘chimbua mzizi wa mwambani na mwiko uuvunje uulete.’

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule anayefanya maandalizi mazuri kabla ya kuanza kufanya kazi yake. Mtu huyo, hufanya utafiti wa kumwezesha kuvielewa vifaa vyote vinavyotakiwa kuwepo kwenye kazi yake hiyo. Yeye hupata mafanikio mengi katika kazi zake, kwa sababu ya kufanya maandalizi hayo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, ana ukarimu wa kuwafundisha pia wenzake juu ya kuelewa namna ya kufanya utafiti unaotakiwa kabla ya kuanza kuzifanya kazi zao. Yeye huwafundisha watu kupitia mfano wa maisha yake, ambayo hufanana na ya mvulana yule ambaye hajaoa. Ndio maana watu huhadithiana kwamba, ‘chimbua mzizi wa mwambani na mwiko uuvunje uulete.’

DIG THE ROOT FROM THE ROCK, BREAK THE WOODEN SPOON AND BRING IT – A BOY WHO WANTS TO MARRY.

The source of this riddle is the unmarried boy. For a boy who is planning for his wedding can have a lot of issues to deal with in order to have a good wedding ceremony. Among other issues is to create an environment that will make him take care of his family. Therefore, the efforts this boy can make in the preparation for his wedding can be described using the riddle ‘Dig the root from the rock, break the wooden spoon and bring it – a boy who want to marry.’

This riddle can be compared to a person who makes the best preparation before starting his or her career. The person can conduct research in order to enable him or her to understand all the materials that are required for his or her work. In so doing, he/she gets a lot of success in his/her work. Such a person teaches others about planning for future. He/she is likened to an unmarried boy who fights to make sure that his wedding is successfully and his life after wedding becomes successfully as well.

Gashinaga nulu, ugulangamilwa na mhulugaga iyo igulilaga, igolechaga gwinja makoye na gwenha lubhango. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘olangamilwa na mhulugaga igulilaga.’

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agikalaga na bhanhu bho gubhalombela mbango. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, alini sungu lya gubhambilija abhiye abho bhali na makoye, umuwikaji bhobho, kugiki bhadule ugwinga umumakoye genayo. Uweyi alima bhutogwa bhutale ukubhanhu bhakwe, ubho bhugang’winhaga nguvu ja gubhayelela abho bhali mumayange guti genayo.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agadulaga ugubhalunguja abhapina, kunguno ya kikalile kakwe ako kagabhalanjaga abhiye inzila ja gwikala bhitogilwe chiza, na bhichobho.

UMEANGALIWA NA KAKAUIONA AKILIA.

Chanzo cha msemo huo, chaangalia uangaliaji wa kaka kuona. Kakakuona huyo, ni kiumbe cha baraka. Chenyewe, hata kikija nyumbani kwa mtu, atasema kwamba, kimeleta baraka kwake, kwa sababu hicho ni kumbe cha baraka.

Kumbe basi, kuangaliwa na kakakuona anayelia, huonesha hali ya kuondoa matatizo na kuleta baraka. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘umeangaliwa na kakakuona akilila.’

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huishi kwa kuwatakia baraka watu wake. Mtu huyo, ana huruma ya kuwasaidia wale walioko kwenye matatizo, maishani mwao, ili waweze kutoka katika matatizo hayo. Yeye ana upendo mkubwa kwa watu wake, unaompatia nguvu za kuwatembelea wale walioko kwenye matatizo mbalimbali.

Mtu huyo, huweza kuwafariji watu mbalimbali, wakiwemo yatima kwa sababu ya maisha yake, ambayo huwafundisha wenzake njia za kuishi kwa upendo na wenzao. Yeye hupeleka baraka kwa watu, kama kakakuona, ambaye ni mnyama wa baraka kwa watu. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘umeangaliwa na kakakuona akilila.’

ENGLISH: YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKED UP BY A CRYING PANGOLIN.

The source of this saying is an animal by the name of pangolin. Pangolin is an animal believed to be a sign of good luck. Therefore, if someone can see it, it means he/she is blessed and he/she is lucky in his/her life. In this saying, the crying pangolin communicates a sense of relief and blessing to the one looked by it (pangolin). To communicate this idea of relief, people came with this saying that ‘You have been looked up by a crying pangolin.’

The saying can be compared to a person who wishes others to have good life. This person finds happiness by seeing how others are being helped from different problems they face. Such a person has a great love to others and is capable of helping the needy people like orphans, widows, and street children.

The saying teaches people about praying for the blessings of achieving great success in their lives. In so doing, they will be able to reap blessings that will make them have good life in future.

Chanzo cha msemo huo, chatokea kwenye uwekaji wa akiba wa Maganga. Maganga alikuwa na kawaida ya kuongelea maneno ya mbeleni ambayo ni pamoja na uwekaji wa akiba ya mali itakayoweza kuwasaidia katika siku za mbeleni. Ndiyo maana watu huhimizana kujiwekea akiba hiyo ya mali kwa kusema kwamba, ‘Maganga kwa nyumba.’

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana mali za kuweza kumsaidia katika siku za mbeleni. Mtu huyo, huwa anawekeleza kidogo kidogo, mali anazozipata katika kazi zake, mwishowe mali hizo huwa nyingi. Yeye anaelewa namna ya kuzitafuta mali hizo anazozipata, na namna ya kuzitumia.

Mtu huyo, huwaongoza watu kwa kuwafundisha njia za kuitafuta mali hiyo, na zile za kuitumia vizuri, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, katika maisha yao. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watu kwamba, ‘Maganga kwa nyumba.’

Masemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuelewa namna ya kutafuta mali kwa kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yao, na kuzilinda  vizuri mali wanazozipata, ili waweze kuziendeleza vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

The source of this saying is Maganga and how he was able to save whatever he had for future use. Maganga is a person who used to talk much about his future. He therefore managed to keep his possessions well for his future use. That is why people came with the saying that ‘Save like what Maganga did’ to describe how Maganga was able to plan for his future.

This saying can be compared to a person who has enough resources to help him/her in future. This person can minimally spend the available resources and spare some of them for future. He/she is expected to have resources in his/her future because of the tendance of saving them. Such a person teaches others about how to spend what they have in life by ensuring that they have something to sustain their lives in future.

This saying teaches people about how to save whatever resources they have for their future.
