347. NDIMI JA B’ANAKALE JIGALEKA SUMO

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako yingilile ku ndimi ja bhanhu bha kale. Indimi jinijo, galimahoya gabho umuwikaji bhobho. Umumahoya genayo, abhanhu abhingi abha kale b’agayileka mihayo iyo iliyambisila. Iyiniyo hiyo abhanhu abha haha duguyihoyelaga, kunguno ilina bhulangwa bhutale umukati yayo, iyo igitanagwa sumo. Gashinaga guligonhana igiki ‘ndimi ja b’anakale jigaleka sumo.’

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agalegaka mmenho umuwikaji bhokwe. Immenho jinijo kalikalile kakwe ako kagab’ambilijaga abhiye umumakoye gabho, nu mub’uyegi bhobho. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, adebhile ugubhalunguja abhiye abho akagikalaga nabho. Uwikaji bhokwe bhuli shule ya gwilanga higulya ya gwikala bho mholele na abhanhu umuchalo jakwe. Alisawa ni ndimi ija bhanakale ijo jigaleka sumo, kunguno nang’hwe alileka bhulangwa bho gwikala chiza na bhanhu.

Chanzo cha msemo huo chatokea kwenye ndimi za watu wa zamani. Ndimi hizo, yalikuwa maongezi yao ya kila siku. Watu wengi hao watu wa zamani waliacha maneno yenye mafumbo fulani ndani yake, kupitia maongezi hayo. Maneno hayo ndizo methali tuzitumiazo, kwa sababu zina mafundisho makubwa ndani yake. Kumbe ni kweli kwamba, ‘ndimi za wanazamani ziliacha methali.’

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu ambaye huacha alama maishani mwake. Alama hizo ni namna ya kuishi kwake mtu huyo, ambako huwasaidia wenzake katika kipindi cha furaha na cha matatizo. Mtu huyo afahamu kuwafariji wenzake walioko kwenye matatizo maishani mwao. Maisha yake mtu huyo ni shule ya kujifunza juu ya kuishi kwa amani na watu maishani. Yeye ni sawa na ndimi za wanazamani ambazo ziliacha methali, kwa sababu naye huacha alama ya kujifunza kuishi vizuri na watu.

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha alama za kusaidia watu kuweza kuishi kwa amani katika vijiji vyao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: TONGUES OF THE OLD ONES LEFT OUT PROVERBS.

The origin of the above saying comes from tongues of ancestors. Those tongues were speaking words of wisdom in their daily conversations. Many of those ancestors left words with some parables in them. These words are the proverbs we use today because they have a great deal of teaching in them. Then, it is true that ‘tongues of the old ones left out proverbs.’

The saying is compared to someone who leaves a mark on his/her life. The mark or symbols left are a way of living of that person. People can be remembering him/her based on how he/she helped other people on ways to sustain the lives of others in happy and difficult times.

His/her life then becomes a school to learn about how to live in peace with people. He/she is like the old tongues that left out proverbs, a word of wisdom that shapes people’s daily lives. This is why people say, ‘tongues of old ones left out proverbs.’

The above saying teaches people about leaving marks that will help other people to have a decent life and finally have success in life.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako yingilile kubhulekwa bho bhanhu na b’uda. Ub’uda jilijisumva ijo jitogilwe gwikala mumapalala, na gubhaluma bhana ngoko bho gubhadamila ukuntwe na kusaga haho. Jigabhalumaga na abhanhu umumagulu. Ulu jubhalekela abhanhu bhenabho, bhadulile guyomba giki, ‘dalekagwa b’uda.’

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa ku bhanhu abho bhalekwa na ng’wichabho adabhalangile nzila ja gwikala chiza na bhanhu. Abhanhu bhenabho, bhikalaga nawe umunhu ng’wunuyo chiza, na uliopandika sabho ningi, kunguno ya gwikala chiza na bhanhu. Aliyo lulu bhalibhadahayile ugulangwa mpaka bhajidebhe nzila jinijo, nowe umunhu ng’wunuyo ubhaleka, numo bhali. Hunagwene aho bhashoka gwizuka abhanhu bhenabho, bhagayomba giki, ‘dalekagwa b’uda.’

Chanzo cha msemo huo chatokea kwenye hali ya kuachwa na viroboto. Viroboto hivyo ni viumbe ambavyo hupenda kuishi kwenye uchafu, pia huuma kuku kichwani kwa kung’ang’ania hapo bila kuachia. Huwa vinauma pia watu miguuni. Vikiwaachia watu hao, huweza kusema kwamba, ‘tumechwa viroboto.’

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa watu walioachwa na mwenzao ambaye hakuwafundisha njia za kuishi vizuri na watu alizokuwa nazo. Watu hao, waliishi pamoja naye mtu huyo vizuri, na alifanikiwa sana katika maisha yake, kwa sababu hiyo ya kuishi kwake vizuri na watu. Lakini watu hao, hawakuutumia muda huo kwa kumuomba mtu huyo awafundishe njia hizo, mwishowe akawaacha, kama walivyo. Ndiyo maana walipokumbuka kwamba mtu huyo alikuwa na hazina nzuri kwao, walisema kwamba, ‘tumeachwa viroboto.’

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuutumia muda wao kwa kufundishwa njia zenye tabia njema, na watu waliozifahamu njia hizo, kabla watu hao hawajawaacha. Yafaa wautumie muda huo vizuri kwa ajili ya kujipatia hazina hiyo kubwa maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: WE’RE LEFT FLEAS.

The source of the above saying comes from being left with nothing to progress in life. Fleas are insects that live in dirt. They also bite chicken and attack human beings. Because of their parasitic in nature human beings tend to remove them and when they leave the human feet, the people can say ‘we’re left fleas’.

This saying can be compared to people who are left by colleagues and these colleagues have never taught them how better they can live with neighbors. Such people can be very successful in life because of having good cooperation with others but other people around him/her have never taken trouble to ask him/her how better to live with others.

It is until when such a person leaves that they realize his/her importance in mobilizing others for the well-being of the society. When they remember his/her importance they can say ‘we’re left fleas.’

The proverb teaches people to spend their time in a more profitable way. They need to cooperate with others in order to ensure that everyone knows each other’s potentials in life and respect them accordingly.

Aliyo lulu, ulu lulimugati ya ng’wa munhu ulupundu lunulo, bhadudeb’a abhangi igiki alitula lupundu. Hunagwene abhanhu bhayombaga giki, ‘lupundu lwa munda ludigwiwagwa.’

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kubhuyegi ubho bhulimung’holo ya ng’wa munhu.  Ulu adabhufunijije  hanze mudubhub’ona na hangi mudubhudeb’a. Gashinaga lulu ilichiza umunhu ng’wunuyo abhuyombe bho gutumila ilaka lwakwe. Huanawene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘lupundu lwa munda ludigwiwagwa.’

KISWAHILI: KIGELEGELE CHATUMBONI HAKISIKIWI

Chanzo cha msemo huo chatokea kwenye upigaji wa vigelegele. Kigelegele hupigwa na mtu ambaye amefurahia kitu au tukio furani maishani mwake. Watu watavisikia vigelegele hivyo. Lakini basi, kigelegele hicho kikiwa ndani ya mtu furani, hawataelewa wengine kuwa mtu huyo amefurahia kitu fulani, ana sababu hiyo ya amepiga kigelegele. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba. ‘Kigelege cha tumboni hakisikiwi.’

Msemo huo hulinganishwa na furaha iliyomo kwenye roho ya mtu. Asipoionesha furaha hiyo hamtaelewa. Kumbe basi, ni vizuri mtu huyo aiseme furaha hiyo sauti yake. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘lupundu lwa munda ludigwiwagwa.’

ENGLISH: AN INSIDE JOY CANNOT BE HEARED.

The source of the above saying comes from someone who would like to express his/her joy. Under normal circumstances, joy is always shared with others. It can be voiced up for others to hear and enjoy as well. But when joy is internally expressed, others will not have a chance to hear or enjoy it. This is why people say, ‘an inside joy cannot be heared.’

This saying can be likened to the joy that is in someone’s soul. It cannot be heared unless one deliberately shares with others. This saying teaches people about expressing their happiness in their own words.

ENGLISH: WHERE DID YOU SEE WHAT MAKES DOGS TO SALIVATE?

The source of the saying comes from dog’s salivation. When a dog misses food it salivates. In fact, it is its hunger that stimulates the dog to salivate. This is why people ask one another, ‘where did you see what makes dogs salivate’?

The saying is compared to a person who disrespects his/her possessions in life. Such a person does so because he/she has never seen how people suffer in life. Such people are being warned by asking them that ‘where did you see what makes dogs salivate?’

The saying teaches people about understanding how to protect their property for the aim of making their prosperous future.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agab’akalib’ushaga abhanwani b’akwe bhenabho bhaja ahakaya yakwe, nang’hwe atogilwe gujubhahoyela ukukaya jabho. This saying comes from people who are in a chaotic place. Chaos can result into fight among people thus making those people around the fighting scene to be involved as witnesses. To avoid from being involved in the case, people will say ‘leave the chaotic place before being involved as a witness.’

The saying is compared to someone who likes keeping company with bad-mannered people in the society. Such people with a tendency of keeping company with bad-mannered people are being warned by telling them that ‘leave the chaotic place before being involved as a witness.’

The saying teaches people to find good friends who can help them to have good and friendly relationship with neighbors.
