480. KITENDAWILI – TEGA. MODOKA YANE IDAMALAGA MAGUTA:- MAGULU.

Imbuki ya kalagu yiniyo, ililola magulu. Bhuli munhu alina magulu gakwe, aliyo lulu, ulu uhaya gwandya lugendo agubhuka duhu na gwadya gusiminza, bho nduhu ni giki, aguditila maguta, umumagulu gakwe yenayo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘modaka yane idamalaga maguta:- magulu.’

Ikalagu yiniyo, igalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu, uyo ashikanile umubhutumami bho milimo yakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, alina bhushikanu bho guja gujutumama milimo makanza gosegose, guti na magulu ayo gagandyaga lugengo, bho nduhu gulinda guditilwa maguta.

Uweyi agabhalangaga nabhiye, ahigulya ya kubhiza na bhushikanu bhunubho, ubho gutumama milimo yabho chiza. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhanhu giki, ‘modaka yane idamalaga maguta:- magulu.’

Ikalagu yiniyo, yalanga bhanhu higulya ya kubhiza na bhushikanu bhutale, ubho bhudulile gubhambilija uguitumama imilimo yabho chiza, kugiki bhadule gujibheja chiza, ikaya jabho.

MOTOKAA YANGU HAIMALIZI MAFUTA:- MIGUU.

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho, chaangalia miguu. Kila mtu ana miguu yake, ambayo huitumia akitaka kutembea sehemu fulani, bila hata kuweka mafuta, kwenye miguu yake hiyo. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘motokaa yangu haimalizi mafuta:- miguu.’

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule aliyekamilika katika utekelezaji wa kazi zake. Mtu huyo, ana bidii ambayo humwezesha kuzifanya kazi kwa utayari mzuri. Yeye yuko tayari wakati wowote, kutekeleza majukumu yake, kama miguu ilivyo tayari kuanza safari, bila kusubiri kuwekewa mafuta.

Yeye huwafundisha pia wenzake, namna ya kuwa na utayari huo wa kuyatimiza vizuri majukumu yao kila wakati. Ndiyo maana huwaambia watu kwamba, ‘motokaa yangu haimalizi mafuta:- miguu.’

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na utayari mkubwa wa kuyatekeleza majukumu yao vizuri, na kwa bidii kubwa, ili waweze kuziendeleza vizuri familia zao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

MY CAR DOES NOT FINISH FUEL: – FEET.

The cradle of the above riddle looks at the feet. Everyone has feet, which he/she uses to move from one place to another, without even putting fuel in those feet. That is why one says, ‘my car does not finish fuel: – feet.’

This riddle is compared to the perfect person in the execution of his duties. Such person has the diligence that enables him to work with great readiness. He is ready at any time to carry out his duties, as the feet are ready to embark on a journey, without waiting to be filled with fuel.

He also teaches his fellows, on how to have such readiness for carrying out their responsibilities on a regular basis. That is why he tells people that, ‘my car does not finish fuel: – feet.’

This riddle inculcates people on being more willing to carry out their responsibilities, with greater effort, so that they can better their families.

479. UKULI WEYI UONGUZU JAFUMA JILIWA, UKULI WEYI UYO AGAJILWA BHUGAFUMA BHUNONU.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako, yilolile munhu uyo alinimi. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agajitumilaga inguzu jakwe, bho gulima mpaga jigela jiliwa. Ijiliwa jinijo, abhanhu bhagajilyaga bhapandika bhunonu. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘ukuli weyi uonguzu jafuma jiliwa, ukuli weyi uyo agajilwa bhugafuma bhunonu.’

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu, uyo agigulambijaga uguitumama imilimo yakwe, mpaga opandika matwajo mingi. Amatwajo genayo, gadulile gugalucha kikalile kahakaya yakwe, gufumila mubhugayiwa bho sabho, mpaga mubhupandiki bhojo. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, alina bhukamu bhutale ubho guitumama chiza imilimo yakwe yiniyo.

Uweyi agalenganijiyagwa nu nimi uonguzu, uyo agapandika jiliwa ja gulwa abhanhu bhakwe, kunguno nu weyi agapandikaga matwazo mingi agagufumila umubhutumami bhokwe, bhunubho. Amatwayo genayo, gagayinhaga sabho ikaya yakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu, bhagang’wilaga giki, ‘ukuli weyi uonguzu jafuma jiliwa, ukuli weyi uyo agajilwa bhugafuma bhunonu.’

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na wigulambija bho guitumama chiza imilimo yabho, kugiki bhadule gupandika matwazo mingi, ayo gadulile gujimalila bhuhabhi, ikaya jabho.

KISWAHILI: KWAKE YEYE MWENYE NGUZU KILITOKA CHAKULA, KWAKE YEYE MWENYE KUKILA ULITOKA UTAMU.

Chanzo cha msemo huo, chaangalia mtu ambaye ni mkulima. Mtu huyo, huzitekeleza kazi zake kwa kutumia nguvu zake, mpaka kinapatikana chakula. Chakula hicho, huliwa na watu, ambao hupata utamu wa kutoka kwenye chakula hicho.  Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘kwake yeye mwenye nguvu kilitoka chakula, kwake yeye mwenye kukila ulitoka utamu.’

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye, hujitahidi kufanya kazi kwa bidii kubwa, mpaka hufaulu kupata mafanikio mengi maishani mwake. Mafanikio hayo, huweza kupadilisha maisha ya familia yake, kutoka kwenye umaskini hadi kwenye utajiri. Mtu huyo, ana bidii kubwa yiwezayo kumsaidia katika kuzitekeleza vizuiri kazi zake hizo.

Yeye hulinganishwa na mkulima, yule mwenye nguvu, aliyepata chakula cha kutosha kuwalisha watu wake, mpaka wakapata mafanikio mengi yaliyobadilisha maisha ya familia yake. Mtu huyo, naye alipata mafanikio yaliyoiondoa familia yake kutoka kwenye umaskini hadi kwenye utajiri. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, ‘kwake yeye mwenye nguvu kilitoka chakula, kwake yeye mwenye kukila ulitoka utamu.’

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na bidii ya kuwawezesha kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi zao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi yawezayo kuziondolea umaskini familia zao.

ENGLISH: TO HIM WHO HAS ENERGY COMES FOOD, TO HIM WHO HAS EATEN COMES SWEETNES.

The source of this saying is a farmer and his/her strength to produce food stuff.  The farmer carries out his/her duties of farming to make sure that he/she harvests for consumption. It is the eater of the food that will appreciate the sweetness of the food produced by the farmer. That is why people use the saying that ‘to him who has energy comes food, to him who has eaten comes sweetness’ to mean the way the two people depend on each other in the whole process of food production.

The saying can be compared to a person who works hard to the point of success; until you achieve great success in life. That success can change his/her family’s life, from poverty to wealth. The saying can also be compared to a powerful man/woman who has enough food to feed his/her people. The consumption of his/her produce can change his/her family’s life. These changes can include the shift from poverty to wealth.

The saying teaches people about being diligent. People have to carry out their duties in a manner that enables them to have good harvest in future for the betterment of their families.

Imbuki ya kalagu yiniyo, ililola Ng’huni. Ing’huni yiniyo, igikalaga kunuma ya miso, kunguno unsumbi oyisumba bho gwitula kwene. Amiso agene, gali ku bhutongi ya ng’huni, gitumo gabhegejiwa nu nsumbi ogo. Giko lulu, imigo genayo gadadulile ugwibhona ni ng’huni yiniyo, kunguno bhuli jene jili na lwande lojo, ijo jidadulile ugwisangija. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagiganilaga giki, ‘mami adahaile dibhone: – Ng’huni.’

Ikalagu yiniyo, igalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu, uyo aidebhile uguitumama chiza imilimo yakwe, umuwikaji bhokwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, adabhishibyaga abhiye umumilimo yabho, kunguno amanile aho igelelile imilimo yakwe yiniyo.

Uweyi agabhalangaga nabhiye, ahigulya ya kuitumama chiza imilimo yabho, bho nduhu ugwishatya mumilimo iyo idiyabho. Hunagwene uweyi agabhawilaga abhanhu giki, ‘mami adahaile dibhone: – Ng’huni.’

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho, chaangalia kisogo. Kisogo hicho huwa nyuma katika upande wa kichwa, kama muumbaji wake alivyo kiumba. Macho yenyewe yako mbele ya kisogo, kama muumbaji wake alivyoyaumba.

Hivyo basi, macho hayawezi kukiona kisogo hicho, kwa sababu yako upande mwingine wa kichwa. Kisogo na macho hayawezi kujichanganya, kwa maana ya kuwa, pamoja. Ndiyo maana watu huhadithiana kwa kusema kwamba, ‘mjomba hataki tuonane: – kisogo.’

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye aelewa kuzifanya vizuri kazi zake, maishani mwake. Mtu huyo, haingilii kazi za wenzake katika utendaji wa kazi zake, kwa sababu anafahamu mipaka ya kazi zake hizo.

Yeye huwafundisha pia wenzake, namna ya kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi zao hizo, bila kuingilia majukumu ambayo siyo ya kwao. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watu kwamba, ‘mjomba hataki tuonane: – kisogo.’

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kuzielewa na kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi zao, bila kuingilia majukumu yasiyo ya kwao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

MY UNCLE DOES NOT WANT TO MEET WITH ME- A NAPE.

The source of this riddle is a nape; the back side of the human head. The nape is always behind eye, as God created them. Therefore, the nape cannot see what is ahead of it and the eyes cannot see what a nape can see. This is why people can describe the relationship between the nape and eyes using the riddle that ‘my uncle does not want to meet with me – a nape.’

This riddle can be compared to a person who understands to do his/her job well in his life. This person does not interfere others in his/her doing of works because he/she knows the limit of his/her responsibilities. It can also be compared to a person who does well his/her works without compromising standards.

This riddle teaches people about how to understand and carry out their duties without compromising their responsibilities. This will enable them to achieve more in life because of their dedication to their assigned responsibilities.

Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayomgaga giki, ‘ulu ubhucha abhana bhakwe adadulile gubhicha:= lindege.’

Ikalagu yiniyo, igalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agabhalabhilaga chiza abhana bhakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, adabhalekanijaga abhana bhakwe bhenabho, kunguno agikomejaga ugubhatongela mpaga bhakula nilange lya wiza, guti numo ligabhabhukijaga abhana bhalyo, ilindege linilo.

Umungu ng’wunuyo, agabhalangaga nabhiye ahigulya ya gubhalabhila chiza abhana bhabho, mpaka bhashikana ugutumama imilimo yabho bhoyi bhinikili. Hunagwne abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘ulu ubhucha abhana bhakwe adadulile gubhicha:= lindege.’

Ikalagu yiniyo, yalanga bhanhu higulya ya kubhalabhila chiza abhana bhabho, kugiki bhadule gubhiza nilange lya wiza, umuwikaji bhobho. Abhabyaji yigelelilwe, bhoye ugubhalekanija abhana bhabho.

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho, chaangalia mhindi, ambao hubeba watoto wake, kwa muda wote bila kuwashusha. Mhindi huo, ukibeba watoto wake, huwa hauna uwezo wa kuwashusha, mpaka hufikia muda ule ambayo mtu huenda kuvuna mahindi, ndipo anawatoa watoto wake hao. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘akibeba watoto wake hawezi kuwashusha: – mhindi.’

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwalinda na kuwatunza watoto wake, kwa kuwalea vizuri. Mtu huyo, hawatelekezi watoto wake hao, kwa sababu kujibidisha katika kuwaelekeza mpaka waweze kukua katika malezi mema. Yeye huwa pamoja na watoto wake hao, kama vile mhindi unavyobeba watoto wake.

Mtu huyo, huwafundisha pia wenzake namna ya kuwalea vizuri watoto wao, mpaka wanafikia hatua ya kujitegemea wao wenyewe, kwa kufanya kazi zao. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘akibeba watoto wake hawezi kuwashusha: – mhindi.’

Kitendawili hicho, chafundisha watu juu ya kuwalea watoto wao vyema, ili waweze kukua wakiwa na malezi yawezayo kuwasaidia katika kuishi vyema na wenzao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

WHEN SHE CARRIES HER BABIES SHE CANNOT BRING THEM DOWN – MAIZE.

The source of this riddle is maize and the way the maize straw can carry cobs till harvesting time. The maize straw cannot let its cobs down until the harvestor comes to harvest them. This is why people can describe this situation using the riddle that ‘when she carries her babies cannot bring them down – maize.’

This riddle can be compared to a person who protects and cares for her/his children by raising them properly. It can be also compared to people who take care of their families. This is why people are warned against not taking care of their children by encouraging them to learn from plants like maize straw that ‘carries her babies without putting them down’ to communicate tolerance and care for children.

The riddle teaches people how to properly nurture their children until they reach the point of being independent by doing their own jobs. In so doing, children will be behaving in a good manner because of passing through a good nurturing system from their parents.

Nulu bhagagunyamanija bhanhu bhingi, gugubhaduducha duhu, kunguno gulimoto ntale uyo bhadadulile ugugujimya. Hunagwene abhanhu bhenabho bhagayombaga giki, ‘ng’wanishi danyamijaga aliyo dudunduja: – limoto.’

Ikalagu yiniyo, yilenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agatumilaga ginhu guti moto, bho nduhu gubhiza na witegeleja. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, adebhile isolobho ya moto, iyo ilikihamo na guzugila jiliwa, ulu gutumilwa umoto gunuyo na witegeleja.

Aliyo lulu, uweyi adamanile igiki, umoto gunuyo, ulu gudatumililwe na witegeleja, gudulile gwenha makoye matale, ayogalikihamo na gukenagula sabho, ijo jigabishiagwa umlibhupi liniyo. Ubhupi ulu bhubhaka bhugatabhanyaga ugubhujimya. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘ng’wanishi danyamanijaga aliyo dudunduja: – limoto.’

ADUI TUMEMZINGIRA LAKINI HATUMWEZI: – MOTO.

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho, chaangalia watu wanaozima moto uliowaka katika maeneo yao. Moto huo, huongezeka kuwapa mpaka kufikia hatua ya kuwazidi uwezo wale wanaouzima, kwa sababu ya wenyewe kuwa mkubwa sana.

Watu wanaouzima hata wauzingile kwa wingi kiasi gani, huwa unawashinda kuuzima, kwa sababu ya moto huo kuzidi kuwa mkubwa, mpaka kufikia hatua ya kuwashinda kuuzima. Ndiyo maana watu hao husema kwamba, ‘adui tumemzingira lakini hatumwezi: -moto.’

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu, yule ambaye hutumia vitu kama vile moto, bila kuwa  na uangalifu wenye umakini. Mtu huyo, aelewa juu ya faida za moto huo, ambazo ni pamoja na kupikia, endapo moto huo utatumiwa kwa uangalifu.

Lakini basi, yeye haelewi kwamba, moto huo, ukitumiwa bila kuwa na umakini, unaweza kuleta madhara makubwa, ambayo ni pamoja na kuteketeza mali zao, kwa kuunguzwa na moto huo. Moto huo, ukiwaka, hushindikana kuzimwa na watu.  Ndiyo maana, watu hao husema kwamba, ‘adui tumemzingira lakini hatumwezi: -moto.’

Kitendawili hicho, chafundisha watu juu ya kuwa na uangalifu mkubwa kila watakapo kuutumia moto huo, ili waweze kujiepusha na madhara yanayoweza kuletwa na moto usiotumiwa kwa umakini, na uangalifu huo, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

WE HAVE SURROUNDED THE ENEMY BUT WE CANNOT OVERCOME IT – FIRE.

The source of the riddle is a group of people who teamed up to blaze off the fire in their place. The flame is too high for people to extinguish it. Much as people struggle to get rid of the fire their efforts end in vein. This is why people can describe this scenario using the riddle that ‘we have surrounded the enemy but we cannot overcome it – fire.’

This riddle can be compared to a person, the one who uses such things as fire, without being careful. He/she can understand the benefits of fire, including cooking, but if not used carefully it can cause danger to people, including destruction of their property and burning them.

This riddle teaches people to be extra careful whenever they use fire. In so doing they can avoid harmful effects that are likely to come out because of fire.
