453. KWILUNGU BHADAJAGA LWA KABHILI.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako yingilile kubhuzugi bho walwa ubho bhudapile. Ulu walwa bhuzuga, aliyo bhukija ugupya chiza, ilihumbi lyabho lidashokejiyagwa. Gashinaga lulu, ibhelelile bhuzugwe bhungi uwalwa bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘kwilungu bhadajaga lwa kabhili.’

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agitaga mihayo, nulu milimo yakwe, bho nduhu ugwita bhukengeji bho gudula gung’wambilija uguimala chiza.

Uweyi agitimbukilagwa wandyaga nimo, nulu mhayo, bho nduhu ugugamana amakoye ayo gadulile gwilonga, umunimo, nulu mhayo gunuyo. Hunagwene abhanhu, ulu gigela makoye umunimo gokwe, bhagayomgaga giki, ‘kwilungu bhadajaga lwa kabhili.’

Chanzo cha msemo huo chatokea kwenye upikaji wa pombe ambayo haijaiva. Pombe ikipikwa ikakosewa kupikwa ikawa haijaiva vizuri, hairudiwi kupikwa tena. Kumbe basi, yafaa ipikwe pombe nyingine. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘mpiko wa pombe ya kienyeji haurudiwi mara ya pili.’

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule, ambaye hufanya kazi zake bila kufanya utafiti wa kumwezesha kuzimaliza vizuri.

Mtu huyo, hufanya kazi zake kwa kukurupuka, bila kuangalia kwanza matatizo ambayo, yaweza kutokea kwenye kazi hiyo, ili kuzifahamu njia za kuyatatulia.

Ndiyo maana akitapata matatizo kwenye kazi anayoifahanya mtu huyo, watu husema kwamba, ‘mpiko wa pombe ya kienyeji haurudiwi mara ya pili.’

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kufanya utafiti wa kazi wanazotaka kuzifanya, kabla ya kuzianza, ili waweze kuyakwepa matatizo ambayo yanaweza kutokea kwenye kazi hizo.

ENGLISH: THE COOKING OF THE TRADITIONAL BREW IS NOT REPEATED.

The source of the saying comes from half-cooked local brew. If a cook hasn’t cooked properly her local brew, there is no possibility of orrecting the mistake. The solution is to cook another brew. This is why people say ‘the cooking of the traditional beer is not repeated’.

The saying can be compared to a person who performs his/her tasks without doing research that can enable him/her to finish it properly. Such people perform their tasks without first looking at problems that may arise and find ways to resolve them.

The saying teaches people about researching before engaging in actual performance of tasks one wants to do. This can help them to avoid problems in future.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako yingilile kungele iyo yatinwa yugeha. Ingele jilijipimilo ja wiguliji bho jiliwa guti: bhusiga, mandege,  ng’haranga na jingi ningi.

Ingele yiniyo, ulu yutinwa igadohaga yilema ugutumilwa hangi, kunguno ulu yupimilwa, idulile gubhagopa abhiguliji. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayomba giki, ‘ichembile ingele.’

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo adina masala. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agawilagwa giko bho mbisila, kunguno, ulu umana igiki aliwilwa adina go amasala, adulile gukolwa. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, umunhu ng’wunuyo ‘ichembile ingele.’

Chanzo cha msemo huo chatokea kwenye kipimo kilichokatwa kikapungua ukubwa wake. Kipimo ni kitu kinachotumika wakati wa kuuziana mazao ya chakula kama vile: mtama, mahindi, karanga na vingine vingi.

Kipimo hicho kikikatwa hupungua ukubwa wake. Hali hiyo hukifanya kisifae tena kutumika katika kupimiana mauziano, vinginevyo watapunjana wale wanaouziana kitu hicho. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘kipimo kimekatwa.’

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hana akili. Mtu huyo huambiwa hivyo, kwa mafumbo na wenzake, kwa sababu akigundua kuwa, watu wanamwambia kuwa, hana akili, atakasirika. Ndiyo maana watu kusema kwamba, mtu huyo ‘kipimo kimekatwa.’

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na hekima ya kuchagua maneno yaliyo mazuri, wakati wanaongea na wenzao, ili waweze kuishi vizuri nao.

ENGLISH: THE SCALE HAS BEEN CUT.

The source of the saying comes from a cut-off dimension. The scale is something used when selling food products such as: sorghum, maize, nuts and many others.

When the scale is cut, it decreases its size. This makes it no longer useful for measuring the items to be sold. That’s why people can say, ‘the scale has been cut’ to mean reduction of its actual size.

The saying can be compared to a person who has no sense. Such a person is told in parables in order to make him/her not understand that his/her ability to think is relatively low. The saying teaches people about the wisdom of choosing the right words when talking to their peers. This can help them to have peace all the time.

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agalombaga ginhu bho lugoto, nulu bho gung’ang’anila. Uweyi ahayile nulu gwisolela nu wei ng’winikili, kunguno ya wigongeja bhokwe, ubho guhaya apandike iginhu ginijo, gitumo atogelilwe weyi. Hunagwene umunhu ng’wunuyo, agayombaga giki. ‘chembelaga aha ikaya yane nhale.’

Chanzo cha msemo huo chatokea kwa watu wanaogawana nyama kwa kukatiana. Lakini basi, katika kugawiana kwa nyama hiyo, mmoja wao hutaka kukatiwa kipande kikubwa kama atakavyo yeye. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, ‘katia hapa mji wangu ni mkubwa.’

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huomba kitu kwa kung’ang’ania. Yeye hutaka hata kujichukulia mwenyewe, badala ya kusubiri kupewa na mhusika, kwa sababu ya ung’ang’nizi wake.

Yeye hutaka kupewa kipande kikubwa cha nyama hiyo, kama atakavyo yeye, bila kuwajali wenzake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, ‘katia hapa mji wangu ni mkubwa.’

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha tabia za kuomba kitu kwa kung’ang’ania bila kuwajali watu wengine, ili waweze kupewa kile wanachokiomba. Yafaa pia watu hao, wawajali wenzao, wanapoomba kitu fulani.

ENGLISH: CUT IT HERE, MY FAMILY IS BIG.

The source of the saying comes from people who share meat. In the distribution of the meat, one of them wants to cut as big piece of it because of having a big family to feed. That is why he/she says, ‘cut it here, my family is big.’

The saying can be compared to aperson who asks for something persistently. He/she even wants to take it upon himself/herself rather than waiting to be given by the distributor in a fairly manner. Such a person can be labelled as selfish; he/she doesn’t consider his/her fellow in the distribution of available resources.

The saying teaches people to stop the tendency of being selfish rather care for others as well. In so doing people will be able to respect each other thus creating a very peaceful society.

Umuwikaji bho bhanhu bhenabho, ulu bhalihoya bhagashoshaga giki, nduhu mhayo, aliyo gashinaga bhaliganika mhayo, umumioyo jabho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘nduhu mhayo nu mhayo guliho.’

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo okenyiyagwa na ng’wiye, uyo agalekejaga bho mihayo duhu, aliyo umung’holo yakwe adalekejije.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agalemaga nulu gulipwa nu ng’wiye uyo onkenyaga, kunguno ya giki, ongu onhekejaga. Aliyo lulu, umunhu  ng’wunuyo, agandyaga guyunhaya shibhi ukubhanhu, uyo onkenya ng’wunuyo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘nduhu mhayo nu mhayo guliho.’

Chanzo cha methali hiyo chatokea kwenye maisha ya watu, na maneno yao yaliyomo ndani ya moyo wa kila mmoja. Maisha ya watu hao, yana maongezi ya kawaida yawapatiayo nafasi ya kuyaeleza yale yaliyomo mioyoni mwao.

Lakini watu hao, wakipewa nafasi ya kutoa mawazo yao, hujibu kwa kusema kwamba, hakuna neno wakati, maneno hayo yamo mioyoni mwao.  Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘hakuna neno na neno lipo.’

Methali hiyo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye amekosewa na mwenzake, ambaye humsamehe mwenzake huyo, kwa maneno tu, lakini moyoni huwa bado ana hasira.

Mtu huyo, hukataa hata kupewa fidia kutoka kwa yule aliyemkosea, akidadi eti, amemsamehe. Lakini basi, mtu huyo huanza kumsema vibaya kwa watu, yule aliyemkosea. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘hakuna neno na neno lipo.’

Methali hiyo hufundisha watu juu ya kutoa msamaha wa kweli kwa watu walio wakosea, ili waweze kuishi kwa amani na wenzao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: NO WORD AND A WORD IS THERE.

The source of this saying is people who happen to have concealed hatred towards others who have done something wrong to them. Such people tend to say that they have forgiven them while deep in their hearts they still have grievances. When asked if they have forgiven they reply by saying that they don’t have any more words to mean forgiveness while they don’t mean what they say. Such people are being described using the saying that ‘no word a word is there.’

This saying can be compared to a person who has wronged another person and asks for forgiveness. That person can pretent to have forgiven him/her to the extent of even refusing taking any sort of compensation, but deep in his/her heart, he/she still harbours feelings of revenge.

The proverb teaches people to give true forgiveness to those who have wronged them. This will enable them to have harmony with others in their lives.

Kuyiniyo lulu, uyo aliisagilwe inyama yiniyo adudula ugwilya mpaga wiguta, kunguno ya bhudoo bhoyo bhunubho. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agitindikaga ugujichola iginhu ijo jilina solobho nhale, kunguyo ya ‘gwisagilwa nyama yibupu.’

Kwa hiyo, mtu yule anayeitumaini nyama hiyo hawezi kuila mpaka akatosheka. Mtu huyo, hujichelewesha kutafuta kitu ambacho kinathamani kubwa, kwa sababu ya ‘kutumaini nyama ya kongosho.’

Methali hiyo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hutumaini kupata au hutegemea kitu kisicho na thamani katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, huacha kufanya kazi za maana, ambazo zinathamini, kwa sababu ya kutumaini kitu hicho ambacho, hakiwezi kumsaidia katika maisha yake.

Ndiyo maana, watu humlinganisha na ‘kutumaini nyama ya kongosho,’ kwa sababu naye hutegemea kitu kisicho na faida maishani mwake.

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kutumaini kitu ambacho chaweza kuwasaidia katika kuzijenga vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao, badala ya kupoteza muda wao, kwa kutegemea vitu visivyoweza kuwasaidia katika kuziendeleza familia hizo.

ENGLISH: RELYING ON THE PANCREACE MEAT.

The source of this saying is the pancreace meat that is believed to be very small in size and it is tender thus bought at a very cheap price. Therefore one who eats pancreace meat cannot easily get satisfaction. Instead, he/she is adviced to look for something of great value in order to have satisfaction because reliance on pancreace meat only can make one suffer from hunger.

This saying can be compared to a person who depends on worthless things for his/her survival. Such people are being warned against it by telling them not to ‘rely on the pancreace meat’ as a way to make them hard workers.

This proverb teaches people to hope for something that will help them better build their families. They don’t have to waste their times doing worthless things rather work hard and help their families to develop in different aspects.
