307. B´OYA B´O NGOKO B´UDAKWIJAGA NYAMA

Imbuki ya lusumo lunulo ilolile bóya b´o ngoko na nyama yayo. Ingoko ulu idinatonwa ub´oya, igikalaga nhale. Aliyo lulu, ulu munhu uitona ub´oya b´unubho, igabhizaga ndololo. Gashinaga inyama yayo idinhale gitumo igigelelaga ingoko yiniyo, ulu ilinabhoya b´oyo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ´b´oya b´o ngoko b´udakwijaga nyama.´

Ulusumo lunulo lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo alintale ubhogunola, aliyo lulu, amasala gakwe galimagehu. Umunhu ng´wunuyo agitaga mihayo ya nyanigini. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang´wilaga giki, ´b´oya b´o ngoko b´udakwijaga nyama.´

Ulusumo lunulo lolanga bhanhu higulya ya kutumama milimo yabho, bho nduhu gwishadya mumilimo ya bhichacho.

KISWAHILI: MANYOYA YA KUKU HAYAFANYI NYAMA KUWA NYINGI

Chanzo cha methali hiyo chaangalia manyoya ya kuku na nyama yake. Kuku akiwa na manyoya huonekana kuwa ni mkubwa. Lakini basi, mtu akinyonyoa manyoya hayo, huwa mdogo. Kumbe nyama yake siyo kubwa kama ilivyoonekana wakati kuku huyo akiwa na manyoya yake. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ´manyoya ya kuku hayafanyi nyama kuwa nyingi.´

Methali hiyo hulinganishwa kwa mtu ambaye huonakana kuwa ni mkubwa kwa umbo, lakini basi, akili zake ni ndogo. Mtu huyo hufanya mambo ya kitoto. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kuwa, ´manyoya ya kuku hayafanyi nyama kuwa nyingi.´

Methali hiyo hufundisha watu juu ya kufanya kazi zao vizuri bila kujiingiza kwenye kazi za wenzao.

ENGLISH: CHICKEN’S FEATHERS NEVER ADD ITS MEAT

This proverb rises in the relationship between chicken’s feathers and its meat. A chicken always looks big when it has its feathers. However, when the feathers of the same chicken are plucked it becomes small and its meat also become not as big as it looked when the chicken had its feathers.That is why people say, “chicken’s feathers never add its meat.”

The proverb is compared to someone who looks big in shape, but then his/her intelligence is low. That person does childish things. That is why people tell such people that “chicken’s feathers never add its meat.”

The proverb teaches people to do their jobs well as well as engaging in their fellow’s works.

Methali hiyo hulinganishwa kwa watu ambao huwa wako pamoja kwenye kipindi cha masika, kwa sababu ya kulima. Kikifika kipindi cha kiangazi, watu hao huachana. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ´zimekuwa kanga za masika zimeachana makundi.´

Methali hiyo hufundisha watu juu ya kuunda umoja wa kuwawezesha kufanya kazi, ufikapo wakati wa kazi hizo. Umoja huo utawasaidia watu hao katika kuutumia vizuri muda wao huo wa kazi.

The saying teaches people about forming union and doing their activities together. The union will help these people in managing their time.

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo adebhile nzila ningi ija gubhalanga abhanhu abho bhalina jika, umuwikaji bhobho. Umunhu ng´wunuyo agabhalangaga na bhanhu bhakwe ahigulya ya gujitumila inzila jinijo, kugiki bhajidebhe nabho, bhogubhawila giki, ´gunanga gulu gushiga unshindike.´

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gub´iza na nzila ningi ijagudula gubhalangija abhanhu bhabho abho bhali na jika, umuwikaji bhobho.

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu ambaye afahamu njia nyingi za kuwafundishia watu wenye vilema mbalimbali, maishani mwao. Mtu huyo huwafundisha pia wenzake juu ya njia hizo kwa kuwaambia kwamba, ´kumfundisha bubu mpaka umsukume.´

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kutumia njia nyingi za kuweza kuwafundishia watu wenye ulemavu mbalimbali, maishani mwao, ili waweze kuufikisha vizuri ujumbe wao kwao.

ENGLISH: TEACHING A DEAF PERSON, YOU NEED TO TOUCH HIM/HER

This saying originates from a person who was teaching a deaf person. The teacher realized that the deaf could not understand what he/she was teaching without touching him/her. ENGLISH: A PROMISE MADE IS A DEBT UNPAID

This saying comes from a story of two people who agreed to meet somewhere. On that day, the other did not show up where they had agreed to meet. When they saw each other on the following day, the one who went to the place they agreed to meet reminded his companion about their agreement saying, “a promise made is a debt unpaid.”

The saying is linked to someone who reminds his/her fellows about implementing what they agreed on. Such a person remembers the agreement they made in his/her life. He/she also reminds his/her companions about implementing the agreement by telling them, “a promise is a debt unpaid.”

The above saying teaches people to fulfil their promises in their lives.

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo alina nhungwa ja b´udoshi umuwikaji bhokwe. Aliyo lulu umunhu ng´wunuyo, ulu usada, b´ushila ub´udoshi b´okwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang´wilaga giki, alina ´b´udoshi bho liso ilagaja ngohe.´

The source of this saying is the eye and eyelids.The eye causes boast because of seeing something and not being impressed.However, when an eyelid enters the eye, the person will rub it and the eye will drop tears. In the course of rubbing the eye, eyelids will drop. Therefore, people say, “the boast of an eye causes eyelids to drop.”

The saying is compared to someone who is boastiful in his/her life. However, when such a person gets sick his/her boast tends to cease. That is why people say, ‘the boast of an eye causes eyelids to drop. “

The proverb teaches people to stop bad behaviour so that they can live with others in harmony.
