323. B’ANENE

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako yingilile kujisumva ijo jiidilile joyi duhu. Ijisumva jinijo jigikumilijaga joyi bhung’wene, jidahayile akumilijiwe ungi. Hangi jitogilwe jipandike joyi duhu, abhangi bhagayiwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagabhitanaga abhanajisumva bhenabho giki, ‘b’anene.’

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo adahayile abhiye b’apandike. Umunhu ng’winuyo ahayile apandike weyi duhu.  Atogilwe gwihaya giki uweyi amanile yose na adugije pye iyose. Agamanaga wikumilija weyi bhung’wene. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagabhitanaga abhanhu bhenabho giki, ‘b’anene.’

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gulekana na nhungwa ja wiming’holo na wihayi bho sagala, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: WAMIMI

Chanzo cha msemo huo chatokea kwenye kiumbe ambacho hujijali chenyewe tu. Kiumbe hicho hujisifu chenyewe, hakitaki asifiwe mwingine. Zaidi ya hayo, kinapenda kipate kitu au mafanikio chenyewe tu, wengine wakose. Ndiyo maana watu huviita viumbe kama hivyo, ‘wamimi.’

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule asiyependa wenzake wapate kitu au mafanikio. Mtu huyo hutaka apate yeye tu. Yeye hupenda kujitapa kwamba ajua yote na aweza yote. Huwa anajisifu mwenyewe kwa sababu ya ubinafsi wake. Ndiyo kusema kwamba, yeye ni mbinafsi. Ndiyo maana watu huwaita watu kama hao kwamba ni ‘wamimi.’

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuachana na tabia za ubinafsi na uchoyo wa kujidai hovyo, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: EVERYTHING FOR ME

This saying comes from a person that cares about himself or herself only. Such a person will always boast himself/herself and he/she does not want another person to be praised. The person wants only him/her to achieve everything.That is why people call him/her that, “everything for me.”

The saying is compared to someone who does not want others to achieve in life. He/ she only wants to achive alone. He/she likes to boast that he/she knows everything and he/she can do everything. Such a person is proud of himself for his/her selfishness.That is why people call such people “everything for me.”

The saying teaches people to break free from selfish thinking or selfish habits in their lives.

KISWAHILI: AMEZIRAI KIMTINGO WA  INZI

Chanzo cha msemo huo chaangalia inzi. Inzi akipigwa na kuanguka bila kupasuka huzirai kwa muda kidogo, baadaye huzinduka. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘amezirai kimtindo wa inzi.’

 Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu aliyepigwa akaanguka na kuzirai kwa mda mfupi halafu akazinduka. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwa mtu huyo kwamba, ‘amezirai kimtindo wa inzi.’

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha tabia za kuonea watu kwa namna mbalimbali, zikiwemo zile za kuwapiga. Yafaa pia kuwapeleka hospitalini wale walioumizwa, ili waweze kupona haraka.

The saying is compared to a person who has been hit and faint for a short time and then wake up. That is why people say, “he/she has fainted in a fly’s style.”

The saying teaches people to stop bullying behaviours such as beating others. It is also necessary to rush a person to hospital if he/she is injured so that he/she can recover quickly.

Ulusumo lunulo lugalenganijiyagwa kubhanhu abho bhitolile. Abhanhu bhenabho bhagikalaga kihamo umuwikaji bhobho, guti numo bhuli ub’uta nu luge. Bhose ungosha nu nkima bhagiyambilijaga uguitumama imilimo yabho. Abhoyi b’alumanile halumo umushigu ja b’ulamu bhobho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘b’uta b’udimanile na luge.’

Chanzo cha methali hiyo chatokea kwenye upinde na kamba yake. Upinde na ugwe au kamba yake huwa zimeshikamana pamoja vizuri. Husaidiana katika kufanya kazi zote. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘upinde hushikamana na ugwe/kamba yake.’

Methali hiyo hulinganishwa kwa watu waliooana. Watu hao huishi pamoja maishani mwao, kama ulivyo upinde na ugwe. Wote mume na mke husaidiana katika kufanya kazi zao. Huungana pamoja siku zote za maisha yao. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘upinde hushikamana na ugwe.’

Methali hiyo hufundisha watu wa ndoa juu ya kushikamana vizuri maishani mwao, kama upinde na ugwe, ushikamanavyo. Maisha hayo yatawapatia nguvu za kusaidiana katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao.

Chanzo cha methali hiyo chatokea kwa mchungaji wa mbuzi. Mchungaji huyo huwatenga mbuzi wakubwa na watoto wao, upande mwingine. Kila kundi hulichungia sehemu tofauti na lingine. Kwa hiyo basi, mbuzi mkubwa hukataa kuchungiwa kwenye kundi la watoto, hata kama atakuwa na umbo dogo namna gani. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘usinichungie kwenye kundi la watoto wa mbuzi.’

Methali hiyo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule anayedharauliwa na wenzake kwa sababu ya umbo lake kuwa dogo, ijapokuwa yeye ni mkubwa kiumri. Mtu huyo hukataa kuchanganywa kwenye kundi la watoto, kwa kusema kwamba, ‘usinichungie kwenye watoto wa mbuzi.’

ENGLISH: NEVER PASTURE ME AMONG SMALL GOATS/GOAT’S KIDS

The source of this proverb is a person who pastures goats. The person who tends goats usually separates kids from old goats. Each group is pastured separately. So, an old goat will refuse to be pastured in the same group as kids no matter how small it is in shape.That is why people say, ‘never pasture me among goat’s kids.’

The proverb is analogized to an adult person who is despised by his/her peers because of being small in appearance. The person usually refuses to be treated as a child by saying, “never pasture me among goat’s kids.”

The proverb teaches people to stop the habit of despising other people in their lives.

Chanzo cha methali hiyo chatokea kwenye kitovu kilichochomwa kitu fulani kikaumia sana. Kitovu hicho, huonesha jeraha la mauvumi ambalo mtu huyo amelipata kutoka kwa yule amtegemeae, au ameumizwa mtu wa karibu naye. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘leo imechoma kitovu.’

Methali hiyo hulinganishwa kwa mtu ambaye ameleta matatizo kwa ndugu zake. Ndugu zake mtu huyo huumia sana, kwa sababu ya kuwaletea shida ya kutakiwa kuchanga mali zikiwemo pesa, kwa lengo la kuyatatua matatizo hayo. Ndiyo maana watu husema, ‘leo imechoma kitovu.’

This proverb comes from a person whose navel has been stubbed badly. The navel represents injury caused by a closely-related person. That is why people say, “the navel has been stubbed today.” The proverb is compared to a person who has caused serious problems to his/her relatives. The relatives of that person suffer because of being asked to pay money or something else in order to resolve the problem their relative caused to them. That is why people say, “the navel has been stubbed today.”

The proverb warns people against causing problems to their brothers or their people because problems cause pain to people.
