“Ulusumo lunulo, lugatumilwa na Nkwilima aho umayu bhukwi okwe ogakeleja ugubisha ijiliwa.
Unkwilima aginga guja gujungisha umayu bhukwi okwe. Ugansanga alimhola, aliyo alitumama nimo go gulinda noni. Aho bhamala ugwigisha Unkwilima agayomga: “Mayu, nagubhona, nashoke kaya lulu.” Umayu agalema: “Ubhebhe ulingeni one. Ududula ugushoka na nzala. Nambilijage ugulinda inoni, nagagwigile nhomba.”
Unkwilima agalekwa lulu mungunda alilinda noni. Ungikulu agaja kaya ugandya guzuga jiliwa tamu. Uchola nyama njumu, ilina lyayo, “ng’homele”. Uguzuga inyama injumu lulu igasolaga ikanza lilihu noyi. Gwandija usibhuche minzi na guyoja bho minzi ga moto. Huna uibudagule ibhize ndogoleku. Hunawandya uguizuga na minzi. Aminzi ulu gukama, ongeja mabhele. Amabhele ulu gukama ongeja maguta.
Ungikulu atali aguzugaga makubhi, Unkwilima ubhona giki odila. Wandya gunmela bho mbisila umayu bhukwi okwe. Ulu alijipuga inoni aliyosemba, “bulungakele”, giki, “udilaga ugubisha ijiliwa.” Ungikulu wigwa iyoaliiyomba Unkwilima uyomba: “Unkwilima one wandya gunimela ihaha.” Aha nhalikilo agabisha ijiliwa. Unkwilima nang’hwe agikomeja kuyomba: “Bulungakele” (“milele”).
Unkwilima agakalibhushiwa lulu gwiza gulya. Ungikulu nang’hwe uja ugujulinda inoni, wandya gunshokeja bho mbisila. Agayomba: “Ni shitakonzagwa? Shikakonzagwa.” Ugukonza, iligwita nimo hado hado bho bhulingisiji na wangaliji.

“Methali hii ilitumiwa na Mkwilima alipokawia mama mkwe kuivisha chakula.
Mkwilima aliondoka kwenda kumsalimu mama mkwe. Akamkuta mzima, lakini alikuwa na kazi ya kulinda ndege. Walipomaliza kusalimiana Mkwilima akasema: “Mama, nimekuona, nirudi sasa nyumbani.” Mama akataa: “Wewe ni mgeni wangu. Huwezi kurudi na njaa. Unisaidie kulinda ndege, nikupikie uji.”
Basi Mkwilima akaachwa shambani analinda ndege. Mzee akaenda nyumbani kwanza kupika chakula. Akatafuta nyama kavu, jina lake “ng’homele”. Basi kupika nyama kavu inakuchukua muda mrefu sana. Kwanza uchemshe maji na kuiosha kwa maji ya moto. Halafu kuipondaponda iwe laini. Sasa unaanza kupika na maji. Maji yakikauka unaongeza maziwa. Maziwa yakikauka unaongeza mafuta.
Mzee bado akipika mboga, Mkwilima akaona kwamba anakawia. Akaanza kumtania kwa fumbo mama mkwe. Anapowafukuza ndege anasema, “bulungakele”, yaani “umekawia kuivisha chakula.” Mzee anasikia anayosema Mkwilima akanena: “Mkwilima wangu ameanza kunitania sasa.” Mwisho akaivisha chakula. Mkwilima naye anazidi kusema: “Bulungakele” (“milele”).
Basi Mkwilima alikaribishwa kuja kula. Mzee naye akaenda kulinda ndege, akaanza kumjibu kwa fumbo. Akasema: “Ni shitakonzagwa? Shikakonzagwa.” Kukonza, maana yake, ni kufanya kazi pole pole kwa utaratibu na kwa uangalifu.

2Petro 1:10-11. “Kwa hiyo, ndugu zangu, fanyeni bidii zaidi kuuthibitisha wito wenu na uteule wenu, kwa maana mkifanya hivyo, hamtajikwaa kamwe. Kwa njia hii, mtajaliwa kwa ukarimu mwingi kuingia katika Ufalme wa milele wa Bwana na Mwokozi wetu Yesu Kristo.”
ENGLISH: “PERPETUAL! IS IT NOT NECESSARY TO FOLLOW RULES FOR COOKING FOOD CAREFULLY? IT IS NECESSARY TO FOLLOW RULES FOR COOKING FOOD WELL.”
This saying was used by a son-in-law when his mother-in-law cooked him food. One day the son-in-law went to visit his mother-in-law. By the time the man reached the place, she was busy chasing birds that were eating her cereals in the farm. When they had finished greeting the son-in-law said: “Mama, I have seen you, and now I would like to leave for home. The mother-in-law refused saying: “You are my guest. You can’t go back hungry. Help me chasing the birds, and I cook you some food. ” The mother-in-law began the process of making her food. She took dried meat and cooked it (the process which took quiet a long time), she then boiled the meat, washed it, and pounded the meat in order to make it soft then final cooking. When cooking water dried, she added milk and finally fat (after the milk has dried).
After she had finished with meat, she began working on vegetables for her son-in-law to have delicious food. These processes made the man see his mother-in-law as someone who is very slow in her doings. He jokingly began talking to his mother-in-law in parables: “ bulungakele ,” that is, “you are late for food.” When the mother-in-law heard what the son-in-law said, she said to herself: “My son-in-law has started to joke me now.” The man kept on saying, bulungakele, “that is, you are late for food.” Thereafter, the food was brought, the man began eating the food and his mother-in-law took turn to chase birds in the farm.
In the same way, the mother-in-law began joking the son-in-law in parables: “perpetual! Is it not necessary to follow rules for cooking food carefully? It is necessary to follow rules for cooking food well.”
This proverb teaches us to persevere until the time has come. It also teaches us to be smart (Refer to Kueneza Injili kwa Methali which means ‘Spreading the Gospel through Proverbs,’ page 73). We have to be patient if something doesn’t work out as we wish. Every thing has its time. We have to put life in God’s hands without worry. He is with us guiding us in every word, and He will fulfill His promises according to His plan.
