687. UYO UKALYAGA NAG’HWE ALAKUBHULAGA.

Ulusumo lunulo, lufumilile kumahoya ga bhanhu abho bhagiganikaga giki, abhanhu abhadibha namhala, ulu bhacha, bhagabhulagagwa na bhanhu abho bhagalyaga nabho. Uumo agayomba, ‘UMulungu adasolaga abhadoni, kunguno uweyi agasolaga bhanamhala na bhagigulu abho bhalimala ilikanza lya gwikala umusi munumu.’

Ung’wiye agabhuja, “ni bhule na bhayanda kihamo na bhanike bhagachaga bhabhaleka bhakuji?” Uweyi agashosha, ‘abhenabho bhagabhulagagwa na bhichabho, abho bhagikalaga nabho.’ Hunagwene  abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘uyo ukalyaga nang’we alagubhulaga.”

Gashinaga ubhobha bho bhulogi bhugigelaga mu gugikija gwitogwa yise kubhayise. Ulu yise bhose ditogilwe guti umo ubhulangwa bhokwe UYesu Kristo, adiho munhu nulu umo alogoha gulogwa.

Ayise dugabhizaga bhakali ugugabhinza amalagilo ga ng’wa Mulungu. Aliyo dugogohaga gulogwa na gucha. Ilihambohambo dubhize bhakali gucha, hangi dubhize na bhobha bho gwita shibhi guti UYesu umo amooyombela: “Mdizubhogoha abho bhagabhulagaga mili, aliyo bhadadulile guibhulaga inholo. Ilihambohambo gung’wogoha uyo adulile gujikenagula jose mili kihamo ni nholo mumoto.”

Ahenaha ugung’ogoha Mulungu ilinabhulingisilo bho gunhang’wa. UMulungu wise alio mholele, adi obhobha. Ubhobha bhudafumaga kuli Mulungu aliyo kuli shetani. “Aho bhulihoyi bhutogwa bhudiho ubhobha; kunguno ubhutogwa ubhushikanile bhugabhupejaga ubhobha pye ubhose. KISWAHILI: ANAYEKULA NAWE NDIYE ATAKAYEKUUA.

Methali hiyo, ilianzia kwenye maongezi ya watu wanaomini kwamba, vijana wanaokufa huuliwa na watu wanaokula nao. Mmoja alisema, ‘Mungu hachukui vijana, kwa sababu yeye huchukua wazee waliomaliza muda wao wa kuishi.’ 

Mwenzake aliuliza, “Mbona hata vijana hufa na kuwaacha wazee?”  Yeye alimjibu kwamba, “vijana huuliwa na watu wanaokula nao, ambao wanawafahamu vizuri.” Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘anayekula nawe ndiye atakayekuua.’

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa watu wale wanaoamani kulogwa au wale wanaotemdewa mabaya na watu walioko kwenye familia yao. Wenyewe wanaamini kwamba, watu huwa wanauana wenyewe. Watu hao, akifa kijana, husema kwamba, “tunajiua sisi wenyewe Mungu hataki.”

Lakini akifariki mzee, wao husema kwamba, “hakulogwa, bali amechukuliwa na Mungu.” Maisha ya watu hao, hata kama mtu akifariki kwa kupewa sumu, wao huamini kwamba amelogwa. Ndiyo maana huwa wanasema kwamba, ‘anayekula nawe ndiye atakayekuua.’ Rejea Kueneza Injili kwa Methali, ukurasa 56.

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha hofu ya kuamini kulogwa kwa sababu hofu hiyo, huwajengea chuki ya kupelekea hata kuwaua wenzao wasio na hatia.

“Kila mtu asiyempenda ndugu yake ni mwuaji. Yeye hana uzima ndani yake, kama tunavyosoma katika waraka wa Mtakatifu Yohane.  Hivyo tukiwapenda wenzetu tumekwisha pita kutoka kifo na kuingia katika uzima.

Tunaweza kujiuliza kama uchawi upo au la. Tunaweza kujibu: Uchawi haupo, ila shetani yupo. Wachawi hawapo, isipokuwa katika mawazo ya mtu anayesadiki na anayeogopa kwake huyo wachawi wapo.”

Kumbe hofu ya uchawi inatokea kwa kutopendana sisi kwa sisi. Ikiwa sisi sote tunapendana kadiri ya mafundisho yake Yesu Kristo, hakuna mtu, hata mmoja atakayeogopa kulogwa.

Sisi huwa wakali kuvunja amri za Mungu. Lakini tunaogopa kulogwa na kufa. Ni afadhali tuwe wakali kufa, tena tuwe na hofu ya kutenda dhambi kama Yesu alivyosema: “Msiwaogope wale wauao mwili, lakini hawawezi kuiua roho. Afadhali kumwogopa yule awezaye kuangamiza mwili pamoja na roho motoni.”

Hapa kumwogopa Mungu, kuna maana ya kumcha. Mungu wetu ni Mungu wa amani, si wa hofu. Hofu haitoki kwa Mungu, bali kwa shetani. “Palipo na upendo hapana woga; naam; Upendo kamili hufukuza woga wote. Basi, mtu mwenye woga hajakamilika bado katika upendo.” (1Yohane 4:18). Rejea Kueneza Injili kwa Methali, ukurasa 57.

Mambo ya Walawi 19:31. ““Msiwaendee waaguzi, wala msitafute wapunga pepo, kwa maana vitawanajisi. Mimi ndimi BWANA Mungu wako.”

ENGLISH: HE WHO KILLS YOU IS THE ONE YOU SHARE A PLATE WITH.

This proverb comes from a conversation of people who were arguing that teenegers cannot easily die but old people do. One of them said, ‘God does not take young people, because He takes only elders whose time to stay on eath is over. The other one asked, “Why do even young people die and leave the elders?” He replied that, “young people are killed by their fellow human beings. This response on why teenegars die brought about the proverb ‘he who kills you is the one you share a plate with.’

This proverb can be compared to those people who believe on witchcraft. They hold a belief that human beings kill fellow humans. When they hear that a young person has died, the comment from them can easily be, “We kill ourselves, God doesn’t want.” But, when an old person dies they say, “He/she was not bewitched, but taken by God.” There are times one can die of poison still such people will say he/she has been bewitched by his/her close relatives. That is why they often say, ‘He who kills you is the one you share the plate with’ (Refer to Kueneza Injili kwa Methali which means ‘Spreading the Gospel through Proverbs,’ page 56). This proverb teaches people to stop being fearful in life. They don’t have to believe on witchcraft and people should not dare to impart fear to others because, in doing so, they can cause death.

Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him, as we read in the epistle of St. John. So, having loved our fellows, we have passed from death unto life.

We may wonder if witchcraft exists or not. We can answer: Witchcraft does not exist, but Satan exists. Witches do not exist, except in the imagination of someone who believes and is afraid of them. ”

And the fear of witchcraft stems from not loving one another. If we all love one another, according to the teachings of Jesus Christ, no one will be afraid of being bewitched.

We are often in violation of God’s commandments. But we are scared of death. It is better for us to be fierce to die, and be afraid to sin as Jesus said: “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the one the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Here to fear God, it means to adore Him. Our God is a God of peace, not of fear. Fear comes not from God, but from Satan. “Where there is love there is no fear; yes; perfect love casts out all fear. Therefore, the man who fears is not made perfect in love ” (1 John 4:18) (Refer to ‘Spreading the Gospel in Proverbs,’ page 57).

KISWAHILI: TUMBO HALITOI SHUKRANI.

Methali hiyo ilianzia kwenye hadithi ya watoto inayohusu tumbo na mdomo. Tumbo aliomba chakula akisema, ‘nipatie chakula najisikia njaa.’ Mdomo ulimpatia ukisema, ‘chukua hicho hapo.’ Tumbo aliendelea kuomba bila kushukuru anapopewa.  Ndiyo maana watu wakaanza kusema  kwamba, ‘tumbo halitoi shukrani.’

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa wale watu ambao wanataka kupewa kila mara bila kutoa shukrani. Kama tumbo ambalo linapokea chakula cha kila aina bila kushukuru, watu hawa wanatafuta faida yao tu bila kuwajali wengine. ENGLISH: THE STOMACH IS NEVER BE GRATEFUL.

This proverb has its origin on children stories about the stomach and the mouth. In the story, the stomach asked for food saying, ‘Give me food, I’m hungry.’ The mouth whispered, ‘Take it there.’ The stomach ate that food without saying thanks to mouth and asked for more after a while. This is why people came with this proverb that ‘the stomach is never be grateful.’

This proverb can be compared to those people who want to be given all the time without giving thanks. Like a stomach that receives all kinds of food without thanking the one that gave him, these people only look for their benefits without caring others (Refer to Kueneza Injili kwa Methali which means ‘Spreading the Gospel through Proverbs,’ page 54). The proverb teaches people to be thankful for what others give. This can help people learn how to work for the benefit of others, instead of working for their own benefits.

Jesus Christ did not come to this world to seek His benefit, but He came for us. A student is no greater than his teacher but it is enough for the student to become like his teacher.

“So we must not be self-centered. We must give ourselves for our friends as Jesus Christ gave Himself for us.”

The Eucharist means thanksgiving. In the Mass offering we thank God the Father and Jesus Christ and in Him for all the good that He has done for us in particular for our salvation. We should always give thanks to God. We must not be the people who are given thanks (Refer to ‘Spreading the Gospel in Proverbs,’ page 54).

KISWAHILI: KIFO CHA FUKARA KINALILIWA NA WACHACHE.

Methali hiyo, ilianzia kwenye kifo cha mtu fukara wa kijiji furani. Siku hiyo, walihudhuria watu wachache sana. Mmoja akauliza, ‘kwa nini watu ni wachache hivi leo?’  Mwenyeji wa sehemu hiyo alimjibu, ‘ni kwa sababu ya kukosekana kwa nyama kwenye kifo cha mtu huyu furaka.’

Mgeni akasema, ‘kumbe watu huenda kulia kwenye msiba kwa sababu ya kutegemea kula nyama, badaya ya kuonesha umoja wao!’ Ndiyo maana watu wakaanza kusema kwamba, ‘kifo cha fukara kinaliliwa na wachache.’

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa watu wanaoenda kufariji watu wenye matatizo kwa kubagua kwa sababu ya kutegemea kupata faida fulani. Hali hiyo, husababisha kuwepo kwa watu wachache kwenye kifo cha mtu maskini. Kwenye kifo cha tajiri huhudhuria watu wengi mno kwa kuwa hula nyama nyingi. Tena ndugu zake hugawana mali iliyoachwa na marehemu.

Lakini kwenye kifo cha fukara, hufika watu wachache kwa sababu ya kukosa nyama. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘kifo cha fukara kinaliliwa na wachache.’ Rejea Kueneza Injili kwa Methali, ukuraka 52.

Methali hiyo hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha ubaguzi kati ya watu matajiri na maskini. “Hivyo tusiwe na ubaguzi kati ya watu matajiri na maskini au kati ya watu wa cheo na wasio na cheo. Tena tusiwadharau kwa kuwa Yesu Kristo yumo ndani ya watu wote. Hasa yumo ndani ya watu maskini wenye kulemaa na wasiojiweza ambao ufalme wa Mungu ni wao.

Yesu Kristo alikufa kama mtu maskini, kwa kuwa kwenye kifo chake walikuwepo wachache, lakini kifo chake hasa ni kifo cha tajiri ambacho kinatutajirisha sisi sote tunaomwamini. ENGLISH: THE DEATH OF THE POOR IS MOURNED BY FEW PEOPLE

This proverb has its origin from the death of a poor village man. In this poor man’s burial, only few people attended. One of the attendants asked, ‘why mourners are few?’ and the response was, ‘because the dead man was poor therefore, people knew that there would be no meat to eat in his burial.’ This is why people came with such a proverb that ‘the death of the poor is mourned by few people.’

This proverb can be likened to those people who discriminate others because of their social differences. Those people consider themselves as the successful ones in life and therefore they cannot associate with others who appear to be of low profile; poor. People know that, attending the burial of a rich person means having enough food to eat and, on the side of relatives, their attendance to burial means having a share in the distribution of the late’s properties (Refer to Kueneza Injili kwa Methali which means ‘Spreading the Gospel through Proverbs,’ page 52). The proverb teaches people to stop discriminating between rich and poor. As the Holy scripture says, “So we must not discriminate between the rich and the poor. And let us not despise them for Jesus Christ is in all men. Especially the poor and crippled people of whom the kingdom of God belongs.

Jesus Christ died as a poor man, for at his death there were only a few, but his death was actually a rich death that enriches all of us who believe in Him. Every man is able to eat the fruit of the tree of life, namely, eternal life (Refer to ‘Spreading the Gospel in Proverbs,’ page 52).

KISWAHILI: KIKWATO CHA KUKU HUWAHANGAISHA WENYE TAMAA (WANAOPENDA KULA NYAMA KILA WAKATI).

Methali hiyo, yatokea kwa mtu yule ambaye ni mlafi wa kula nyama. Alikuwepo mzee mmoja ambaye hakuwa na meno. Yeye alipenda kula nyama ya minofu. Siku moja aliomba nyama kwa wenzake akisema, ‘nipeni nyama nile.’ Wenzake hao, walimpatia wakisema, ‘chukua hii.’

Kumbe, hiyo nyama waliyompatia yilikuwa ya kwato la kuku, au mguu wa kuku. Alipojaribu kula ikamshinda, kwa sababu ya ugumu wake. Ndiyo maana watu wakaanza kusema kwamba, ‘kikwato cha kuku huwahangaisha wenye tamaa (wanaopenda kula nyama kila wakati).’

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni mwenye tamaa ya kula nyama nzuri kila wakati. Mtu huyo, akikosa nyama hiyo, huhangaika sana, kwa kujaribu kile anachokiona. Akipewa kwato au mguu wa kuku, hushindwa kuuvunja na huhangaika sana kuutafuna.

Yeye hufanana na mwanamume yule ambaye ni mwenye tamaa ya kwenda kwa mwanamke anayemuona kuwa ni mzuri. Naye akimkosa huhangaika sana katika maisha yake, kama mtu yule aliyeshindwa kula kikwato cha kuku. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘kikwato cha kuku huwahangaisha wenye tamaa (wanaopenda kula nyama kila wakati).’ Rejea kueneza Injili kwa Methali, ukurasa 50.

ENGLISH: CHICKEN LEGS PUNISHED THE GREEDY MEAT EATER.

This proverb comes from a greedy person. Some days back, there was a toothless old person who preferred eating boneless meat. One day he asked for meat from his friends. He said, ‘Give me some meat to eat.’

Instead of giving him boneless meat, they gave him chicken legs. He tried eating it but it was not easy to chew the bones. This is where the proverb ‘chicken legs punished the greedy meat eater’ came into being.

This proverb can be likened to a man who always want to eat good meat. Such a person will be uncomfortable if there is no meat to eat. This person can be compared to a man who always chase for beautiful ladies. At the end of the day, this man is likely to land on a difficult woman who will cause trouble to him (Refer to Kueneza Injili kwa Methali which means ‘Spreading the Gospel through Proverbs,’ page 50). This proverb teaches people to break free from the desire to do evil things in life. This can make one to live in harmony with others in their lives.

It is very difficult for those people who are ruled by the lust of this world to turn around, to give up such a life and to have a new life (Matthew 19: 23-26).

In our weaknesses we need the help of God and the gifts of the Holy Spirit, for in our own strength we cannot do anything. If we ask God in faith we will succeed because whatever is impossible to man, it is possible with God (Refer to ‘Spreading the Gospel in Proverbs,’ page 50).

KISWAHILI: MTEMI HULA NA MWENYE KUOZA.

Methali hiyo, ilianzia kwenye maisha ya Mtemi wa Kisukuma aliyekuwa anawapokea watu waliokataliwa na wananchi wake. Mwananchi mmoja alimuuliza mtemi, ‘kwa nini unawapokea watu wenye tabia mbaya?’ Mtemi alijibu, ‘mimi hula na watu wote wabaya na wema, kwa sababu watu hao wote ni wangu.’ Ndiyo maana watu wakanza kusema kwamba, ‘mtemi hula na mwenye kuoza.’

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa viongozi na wale wanaowapokea na kuwalisha watu wa kila aina bila ubaguzi. Kwa mfano, mtu mwenye ugonjwa wa ukoma, “mbozu” yaani mtu mwenye hali ya kuoza, mtu mwenye sifa mbaya, kama vile kiwete, Malaya na kadhalika. Rejea Kueneza Injili kwa Methali, ukurasa 44.

Watu hao huwafundisha watu wao namna ya kuwakaribisha watu wote bila ubaguzi, kwa njia ya maisha yao. Wao wanafanana na Mtemi wa kisukuma aliyewapokea watu wote, kwa sababu nao pia huishi na watu wote, wema na wabaya. Ndiyo maana watu hao huwaambia watu kwamba, ‘Mtemi hula na mwenye kuoza.’

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na ukarimu wa kuwakaribisha watu wote bila ubaguzi. Kama ‘Mtemi wa Kisukuma”, Mungu ni Baba ambaye hana ubaguzi. Huwapenda na kuwalisha watu wote bila kujali rangi ya mtu au kabila au Taifa.

Hapa duniani kuna falme za aina mbili. Ufalme wa watu ambao wanajali au wanahusika na shida za watu. Yesu Kristo aliposema, “nilikuwa na njaa hukunipa chakula,” hakusema juu ya watu ambao wanawatendea wenzao vibaya, bali alisema juu ya watu ambao hawajali au hawahusiki na shida za watu.

Dhambi sio kuwatendea watu mabaya tu, bali ni kutotimiza wajibu wetu, kutojali na kutohusika na shida za watu. Tusiwe watu ambao tunatafuta faida yetu bali faida ya wenzetu.

Tuwe kama Mtemi Yesu Kristo aliyejitoa kwa ajili ya wenzetu, hata adui ubabuzi. Katika hili tutajulikana kwamba tumo kweli katika ufalme wake na hatutakataliwa siku ya mwisho. Rejea Kueneza Injili kwa Methali, 45.

Luka 14:13-14. “Bali ufanyapo karamu, waalike maskini, vilema na vipofu, nawe utabarikiwa kwa sababu hawa hawana uwezo wa kukulipa. Mungu atakulipa wakati wa ufufuo wa wenye haki.””

Methali 31:8-9. “Sema kwa ajili ya wale wasioweza kujisemea, kwa ajili ya haki za wote walioachwa ukiwa. Sema na uamue kwa haki, tetea haki za maskini na wahitaji.”

Marko 10:45. “Kwa kuwa hata Mwana wa Adamu hakuja kutumikiwa, bali kutumika na kuutoa uhai Wake kuwa ukombozi kwa ajili ya wengi.”

Mathayo 25:34-36. “Ndipo Mfalme atawaambia wale walioko upande wake wa kuume, ‘Njoni, ninyi mliobarikiwa na Baba yangu, urithini Ufalme ulioandaliwa kwa ajili yenu tangu kuumbwa kwa ulimwengu. Kwa maana nilikuwa na njaa mkanipa chakula, nilikuwa na kiu mkaninywesha, nilikuwa mgeni mkanikaribisha, nilikuwa uchi mkanivika, nilikuwa mgonjwa mkanitunza, nami nilikuwa kifungoni mkaja kunitembelea.’”

ENGLISH: THE CHIEF EATS WITH ALL PEOPLE.

This saying has its origin on the Sukuma chief who used to receive people who were refused by his citizens. One day, one of his citizens asked him: ‘Why do you receive even bad people?’ The chief replied, ‘I eat with all people; the bad and the good ones because they are all mine.’

This saying can be compared to leaders and those who receive and feed people of all kinds, for example, people with leprosy, lame, prostitutes, and so on (Refer to Kueneza Injili kwa Methali which means ‘Spreading the Gospel through Proverbs’, page 44). These people teach their fellows how to welcome all people in their lives.

This proverb teaches people about generosity of welcoming all people with impartiality. As the Sukuma chief, God is an impartial Father. People need to love and feed all people regardless of their race or ethnic or national origin.

There are two kingdoms on earth. A kingdom of people who care for or deal with people’s problems and another kingdom of people who are not concerned about people’s problem. When Jesus Christ said, “I was hungry and you did not give me food,” he was not talking about people who treat others badly, but rather about people who do not care about others or are not concerned about people’s problems.

Sin is not just doing wrong to people, but not fulfilling our responsibility, being careless and not dealing with people’s problems. We shouldn’t be the people we seek for our own benefit but the benefit of our fellow men.

Let us be like the Lord Jesus Christ who gave Himself for all. In this we shall be known that we are truly in His kingdom and will not be rejected on the last day (Refer to ‘Spreading the Gospel in Proverbs,’ page 45).
