686. NDA ITALUMBAGA.

Ulusumo lunulo, lwandija kujigano ja bhanigini ijo jilihigulya ya Nda na Nomo. Inda igalomba jiliwa yiliyomba, ‘ninhage jiliwa natubhaga.’ Unomo gugayinha guliyomba giki, ‘sologa jijaho.’ Inda igikomeja gulomba duhu bho nduhu ugulumbilija. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagandya guyuyomba giki, ‘Nda italumbaga.’

KISWAHILI: TUMBO HALITOI SHUKRANI.

Methali hiyo ilianzia kwenye hadithi ya watoto inayohusu tumbo na mdomo. Tumbo aliomba chakula akisema, ‘nipatie chakula najisikia njaa.’ Mdomo ulimpatia ukisema, ‘chukua hicho hapo.’ Tumbo aliendelea kuomba bila kushukuru anapopewa.  Ndiyo maana watu wakaanza kusema  kwamba, ‘tumbo halitoi shukrani.’

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa wale watu ambao wanataka kupewa kila mara bila kutoa shukrani. Kama tumbo ambalo linapokea chakula cha kila aina bila kushukuru, watu hawa wanatafuta faida yao tu bila kuwajali wengine. Ndiyo maana watu huwaambia kwamba, ‘tumbo halitoi shukrani.’ Rejea Kueneza Injili kwa Methali, ukurasa 54.

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na moyo wa shukrani kwa yale wanayopewa na wenzao, ili waweze kujifunza pia kufanya kazi kwa faida ya wenzao, badala ya kujinufaisha wao wenyewe tu.

“Yesu Kristo hakuja hapa duniani kutafuta faida yake, bali alikuja kwa ajili yetu. Mwanafunzi si mkuu zaidi kuliko mwalimu wake bali inatosha kwa mwanafunzi kuwa kama mwalimu wake.

Basi tusiwe watu wa kujiangalia sisi wenyewe tu. Yafupasa kujitoa kwa ajili ya wenzetu kama Yesu Kristo alivyojitoa kwa ajili yetu.

Ekaristi maana yake ni kushukuru. Katika sadaka ya Misa tunamshukuru Mungu Baba pamoja na Yesu Kristo na ndani yake kwa mema yote ambayo ametutendea hasa kwa kupatia wokovu wetu. Yatupasa kutoa shukrani kwa Mungu kila wakati. Tusiwe watu ambao wanapewa bila kushukuru.” Rejea Kueneza Injili kwa Methali, ukurasa 54.

Wafilipi 2:4. “Pasiwe na mtu anayetafuta faida yake mwenyewe tu bali faida ya mwenzake.”

Luka 17:17-18. “Watu kumi walitakaswa, sivyo? Wale tisa wako wapi? Hakupatikana mwingine aliyerudi kumtukuza Mungu ila tu huyu mgeni?”

Matendo 20:35. “Heri zaidi kutoa kuliko kupokea.”

ENGLISH: THE STOMACH IS NEVER BE GRATEFUL.

This proverb has its origin on children stories about the stomach and the mouth. In the story, the stomach asked for food saying, ‘Give me food, I’m hungry.’ The mouth whispered, ‘Take it there.’ The stomach ate that food without saying thanks to mouth and asked for more after a while. This is why people came with this proverb that ‘the stomach is never be grateful.’

This proverb can be compared to those people who want to be given all the time without giving thanks. Like a stomach that receives all kinds of food without thanking the one that gave him, these people only look for their benefits without caring others (Refer to Kueneza Injili kwa Methali which means ‘Spreading the Gospel through Proverbs,’ page 54). This book was written by: Fr. Donald Sybertz, M.M., and Fr. Joseph Healey M.M., and published by Benedictine Publications, Ndanda – Peramiho, 1984.

The proverb teaches people to be thankful for what others give. This can help people learn how to work for the benefit of others, instead of working for their own benefits.

Jesus Christ did not come to this world to seek His benefit, but He came for us. A student is no greater than his teacher but it is enough for the student to become like his teacher.

“So we must not be self-centered. We must give ourselves for our friends as Jesus Christ gave Himself for us.”

The Eucharist means thanksgiving. In the Mass offering we thank God the Father and Jesus Christ and in Him for all the good that He has done for us in particular for our salvation. We should always give thanks to God. We must not be the people who are given thanks (Refer to ‘Spreading the Gospel in Proverbs,’ page 54).
