KISWAHILI: CHUNGU KUKUBWA HAKIMALIZI UKOKO

ENGLISH: A BIG POT IS NOT WITHOUT CRUST

The source of this proverb is a big pot. A big pot always has crust at the base left by people who ate the food. The crust sticks below the base of the pot and it is difficult to remove it. Therefore, a person who finds the food has been eaten may scrape the crust and eat. That is why people say, “a big pot is not without crust.”

The proverb is analogized to someone who has many livestocks or anything else. Even if all the livestocks die, such a person will have few left behind. The person usually has something to give to those who approach him/her for help. That is why people say, “a big pot is not without crust.”

This proverb teaches people about being generous to other people with problems. Such generosity will help them to find ways to solve their problems.

John 6:13.
