Chanzo cha methali hiyo, chatokea kwenye maisha ya uvaaji wa kanzu. Kanzu hiyo, ni vazi lilishonwa jumla kutoka mabegani hadi miguuni, kwa sababu ya kuuwezesha kufanana mwili wa mvaaji huyo wa kanzu. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘inafaa tuwe na kanzu.’

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana familia yake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huipatia malezi mema familia yake hiyo. Malezi hayo, ni pamoja na yale ya kujibidisha kuyatekeleza majukumu yale yawezayo kuiendeleza vizuri familia yake. Yeye anafahamu namna ya kuilea vizuri familia yake hiyo, kwa sababu ya bidii yake ya kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na mtu anayependeza kuwa  na kanzu, kwa sababu naye huijenga vizuri familia yake kwa kuipatia malezi mema, ili waweze kuwa na maadili mema yanayofanana kama kuvaa kanzu. Yeye ni mfano wa kuigwa kwa kuwa na familia yenye malezi mema, kwa sababu ya maisha yake hayo yaliyo mema. Ndiyo maana yeye huwambia watu wake kwamba, ‘inafaa tuwe na kanzu.’ Kanzu hiyo, ni maskani au familia yenye mazezi mema.

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kujenga familia njema, kwa kujibidisha kuyatekeleza vyema majukumu yao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: WE SHOULD HAVE A ROB.

The source of this saying is the wearing of garment. Garment is a type of cloth one puts on and it covers the whole body from shoulders to feet thus making the whole body being uniformly covered. That is why people say ‘we have to have a rob’ to mean uniformity.

This saying can be compared to a person who has a family and he/she is able to provide it with all what is necessary for the family to survive. This includes upbringing them and commitment to fulfill all family responsibilities. Such a person can be taken as an example to others on how to care for their famiies.

This saying teaches people how to build a good family. It makes people become successful in their lives.

Chanzo cha methali hiyo, chaangalia chakula kilichoiva ambacho hakipasui tumbo la mlaji wake. Chakula hicho, hakikai kwa muda mrefu tumboni mwa mtu yule aliyevila, kwa sababu huwa vinatoka kama maji. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘vilivyoiva havipasui tumbo.’

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni mlevi wa pombe, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huweza hata kuzimalizia pesa zake kwa kuzinunulia pombe za kunywa, kwa sababu ya ulevi wake huo. Yeye hafanyi vizuri kazi za nyumbani kwake, kwa sababu ya kutumia muda wake kuzurura hovyo kwenye vilabu vya pombe.

Mtu huyo, husumbuliwa na jaa kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya kukosa chakula. Yeye huendelea kunywa pombe bila kuijali familia yake hiyo, katika maisha yake.

Hivyo, yeye akichotewa pombe hiyo, na kupewa husema kwamba, ‘haupasui tumbo,’ kwa sababu akiinywa hubaki tumboni kwa muda mfupi, na kuanza kutoka kwa njia ya mkojo. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, ‘vilivyoiva havipasui tumbo.’

ENGLISH: COOKED FOOD WILL NEVER CAUSE THE STOMACH TO BURST.

The source of this proverb is food and its eater. The food when eaten, it does not stay long in the eater’s stomach rather it is taken out in a different form through the process of excretion. This is why people came with this proverb that ‘cooked food will never cause the stomach to burst.’

This proverb can be compared to an alcoholic person who spends much of his/her money on alcohol. This person can fail to do most of his/her activities and eventually can suffer from famine. When asked why spending much time in alcohol he/she can say that he/she won’t be affected by it because finally it goes out of his/her stomach.

The proverb teaches people about avoiding taking much alcohol in their lives. Rather, people have to commit themselves to activities that can make them successful in life.

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huyaishi maadili yaliyomema, lakini baadhi ya watu humuona kuwa ana kasoro, maishani mwake. Mtu huyo hutenda wema unaotoka ndani ya moyo wake ambao una upendo wa kweli.

Yeye huvumilia katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yake, ambayo huyakamilisha kwa bidii kubwa, katika maisha yake. Pamoja na yeye kuwa na tabia hiyo njema, baadhi ya watu hutafuta kasoro ya kuwafanya wasimpende.

ENGLISH: NO ONE IS PERFECT.

The source of this proverb is the faults that can bee seen in someone assumed to be perfect in his/her doings. There are people in the society who are considered to be perfectionists. Such people are likely to fall in danger of being scrutinized by others to see how they can commit mistakes. When they spot even a single mistake in him/her they will publicize it in order for people to know the other side of that particular person. This is why people came with the proverb ‘no one is perfect’ to describe this scenario.

 This proverb can be compared to someone who lives a good life. Such a person is likely to be looked at by others in relation to how he/she can commit mistakes. A person of this nature can be very organized in his/her duties despite others looking for his/her flaws. He/she appears to be a role model to others because of the way he/she is patient in his/her execution of duties.

The source of this saying is the way to live with people. Under normal circumstances in life, good people tend to be hated by the bad ones. This is why people came with this saying that ‘your beauty does not mean to be loved by all people.’

This saying can be compared to a person who has the patience to live the good values ​​in his/her life. This person knows how to do good things from his/her heart. Such a person can tend to complete his/her tasks within the given time. In so doing, these people become role models to others who would wish to be the same as them. In contrast, the bad ones will hate them and do whatever means possible to blackmail them.

Chanzo cha methali hiyo, chaangalia utengenezaji wa kitu kwa watu fulani. Utengenezaji huo, ni wa upande wao tu, kwa sababu wao wanataka mafanikio mengi yawe kwao, na wengine wayakose. Ndiyo maana watu hao hutaka hali iwe ‘bora kwao.’

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa watu wale ambao hutaka wapate wao tu, katika maisha yao. Watu hao, wana wivu wa kufanya kazi zile zinazoweza kuwasaidia kupata mafanikio wao, kwa sababu wao hawapendi wenzao, wafanikiwe. Hivyo wao wakisikia kwamba, wenzao wamepata mafanikio, huchukia mioyoni mwao, kutokana na wivu huo walio nao.

Watu hao, hufanana na wale watakao kupata mafanikio mengi wao tu, kwa sababu nao huchukia wanapofanikio wenzao, katika maisha yao. Wao huwafundisha watu wao kuwa na wivu huo, kwa sababu ya mifano yao wanayowaonesha. Ndiyo maana watu huwaambia kwamba wao hutaka hali iwe ‘bora kwao.’

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha wivu wa kuwachukia wenzao wanaopata mafanikio, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuishi kwa amani na wenzao hao, maishani mwao.

The source of this saying is the production of a certain product to be used by a certain group of people. Those people would like to have that product for their own use because they want more success in life. This is why people can describe individuals with such a behaviour using the saying that ‘the best is for them.’

The saying can be compared to those people who want something for their own benefits without considering others. Those people are envious of doing tasks that can help them to achieve their success. In case they hear others to have achieved in their lives, they hate them out of jelous. They therefore teach people to be jelous in life.

This saying teaches people to give up the behaviour of being jelous rather they have to respect other peoples’ achievements and use them as challenges for their struggle in life.
