Ikalagu yiniyo, igalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo ali nkali gubhilitija, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, adakumiyagwa na oseose umubhutumami bho milimo yakwe, kunguno ya bhukali bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agabhogohyagwa abhanhu abho agikalaga nabho, kunguno ya kugumana ubhakalihila sagala duhu, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikikolaga nili moto ilikali ilo lidigasijiyagwa, kunguno nuweyi alinkali uyo adakumiyagwa umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “amasumbi pye agose gagigasijiyagwa lelo liliho limo lidigasijiyagwa – limoto.”

Kitendawili hicho, huangalia ukali wa moto. Moto huo, ni kitendea kazi kisichokaliwa kwa sababu ya kuunguza kwake. Yule ajaribuye kuukalia moto huo humuunguza sana. Wenyewe uko tofauti na viti vyote vikaliwavyo, kwa sababu ya ukali wake huo. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “viti vyote hukaliwa lakini kipo kimoja kisichokaliwa – moto.”

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni mkali wa kupitiliza, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwa haguswi na yeyote katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yake. Yeye huwaogofya sana watu anaoishi nao, kwa sababu ya kuendelea kwake kuwakalipia hovyo watu wake hao, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na ule moto mkali usiokaliwa, kwa sababu naye huwa mkali kupita kiasi anayewakalipia watu wake hovyo, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “viti vyote hukaliwa lakini kipo kimoja kisichokaliwa – moto.”

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha tabia ya kuwa na ukali wa kuwakalipia hovyo watu wao, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuishi nao vizuri bila ya kuwaogofya, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

ALL CHAIRS ARE USED TO SIT IN EXCEPT ONE WHICH IS NEVER USED TO SIT IN – FIRE.

The above riddle looks at the intensity of the fire. It is an uninhabited instrument because of its burning situation. The one who tries to sit in it ablaze. It is different from all the seats which people people sit in, because of its severity. That is why people say that, “All chairs are used to sit in except one which is never used to sit in – fire.”

This riddle is equated to the person who is extremely violent in his life. This person is not advised by anyone in fulfilling his or her duties. He/she threatens the people who stay in that family because of his/her harshness.

This person is like a fiery unrelenting fire, because he/she is also a fierce person who treats others harshly in the family. That is why people say to him/her that, “all chairs are used to sit in except one which is never used to sit in – fire.”

This puzzle teaches people about stopping the habit of harshly reprimanding their people, so that they can live harmoniously with them without intimidating anyone of them in their societies.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga ni ngi iyo igalyaga ni jibhi, kunguno nu weyi agitaga ni yabhubhi yiniyo, umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki “iji ulijiponya akoyi mboto – kagi.”

UTAKACHOKITUPA KWAKE NI CHAKULA – INZI.

Kitendawili hicho huongelea juu ya maisha ya Inzi. Inzi ni kiumbe ambacho hakibagui chakula kwa sababu ya kula chochote kile, kiwe kibaya au kizuri. Mdudu huyo, hata kile kilicho kibaya kwake huwa chakula chake. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “utakachokitupa kwake ni chakula – Inzi.”

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye habagui kitu katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huishi kwenye hali zote za kutemba wema na ubaya, kwa sababu ya kujichanganya kwake na ubaya. Yeye huiharibu familia yake kwa sababu ya kutenda uovu huo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule Inzi aliyekula hata uchafu, kwa sababu naye hutenda hata uovu, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “utakachokitupa kwake ni chakula – Inzi.”

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kuchagua maisha ya kutenda wema na kuacha uovu, ili waweze kuzilea vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

WHATEVER YOU THROW AWAY IT IS FOOD FOR IT – A FLY.

The overhead riddle talks about the life of a fly. A fly is a creature that does not select on the basis of eating anything, whether clean or dirty. This insect, even what is dirty for it, becomes its food. That is why people say that, “Whatever you throw away it is food for it – a fly.”

This riddle is equated to the person who does not select good and evil in life. Such person lives in all conditions of good and evil, because of his association with evils. He destroys his family because of doing evils in societies.

This person resembles the fly that ate even dirty things, because he also does evils, in his life. That is why people say to him that, “Whatever you throw away it is food for it – a fly.”

This riddle instills in people an idea on how to choose a life of good deeds enough to renounce evils, so that they can morally raise their families, in their lives.

Kitendawili hicho, huongelea juu ya mti uitwao Urimbo. Mti huo, ukigongwa hutoa maji kama yanayofanana maziwa, ambayo hutumika katika kuzibia vitu kwa sababu ya kushika vizuri pale yanapowekwa. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “nikikukamata sikuachii – Urimbo.”

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hujifunza tabia njema na kushikilia vizuri bila kutikiswa, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hujifunza maneno yenye maadili mema na kuyaishi vizuri, kwa sababu anataka kuilea vizuri familia yake. Yeye hufanikiwa katika kuiletea maendeleo mengi familia yake, kwa sababu ya kuyaishi vizuri maadili hayo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na ule urimbo unaoshika vitu bila kuachia, kwa sababu naye huyashikilia vizuri maadili mema bila kuyaachia, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana huwaambia watu kwamba, “nikikukamata sikuachii – Urimbo.”

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kujifunza maadili mema na kuyaishi katika utekelezaji wa kazi zao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, maishani mwao.

WHEN I CATCH YOU I WILL NOT LET YOU GO– BIRDLIME.

This riddle talks about a tree which is called birdlime. When this tree is struck, produces black liquid that catches various objects which touch it. That is why people refer to it by saying that, “When I catch you I will not let you go– birdlime.”

This riddle is related to man who learns good manners enough to hold them fast without wavering, in his life. This man learns to speak and live well with others, because he wants to raise his family morally. He succeeds in making a lot of progress in his family, because of living within those values well, in life.

This man is like the Birdlime that holds things without which touch it letting them go, because he also holds on to good values ​​without letting them go, in his life. That is why he says about them that, “When I catch you I will not let you go– birdlime.”

This riddle imparts in people a clue on how to learn good values ​​enough to live a moral life in fulfilling their daily duties, so that they can achieve great successes, in their lives.

Kitendawili hicho, huangalia Ardhi. Ardhi hiyo, huwabeba watu wanapozaliwa duniani humu, na wanapofariki huwameza kwa njia ya kuzikwa. Wanaokufa na kuzikwa ni wengi lakini yenyewe haishibi. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “tuna mama tunamlisha lakini hashibi – Ardhi.”

Kitendawili hicho, hutumiwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hutemdewa wema na mama yake mzazi lakini hautaumbui wema huo, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hautambui wema wa mama yake ambao ni pamoja na ule wa kumzaa na kumkuza, kwa kumlaumu kwamba, alimleta duniani kuteseka tu. Yeye alilala kwenye magoti ya mama na kubebwa mgongoni ng’wa mama yake, bila kusahau kumlaza aliposinzia, lakini yeye aliamuka na kulia, kwa sababu ya kushindwa kuutambua wema huo wa mama yake huyo mzazi, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyeilaumu Ardhi akidai kwamba inameza watu wakati kuwazika, kwa kutokufahamu kuwa hilo ni tendo la upendo, kwa sababu naye hautambui wema wa mama yake mzazi aliyemzaa na kumkuza, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana humlaumu kwa kusema kwamba, “tuna mama tunamlisha lakini hashibi – Ardhi.”

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kuutambua wema waliotendewa na wazazi wao, ambao ni pamoja na ule wa kuwaleta duniani, na kuwatunza mpaga wakawa watu wazima, ili waweze kuwashukuru kwa kuwaheshimu na kuwatunza vizuri, maishani mwao.

I HAVE A MOTHER WHOM WE FEED BUT SHE IS NEVER SATISFIED – LAND.

This riddle looks at the Land. This land carries people when they are born on this earth, and when they die it swallows up them during their burial. The people who die and be buried are many but it does get satisfied. That is why people say that, “I have a mother whom we feed but she is never satisfied – land.”

This riddle is applied to the person who is treated kindly by his or her mother but he does not realize that kindness in his or her life. This person does not recognize the goodness of his mother which includes the birth and rearing of his/her. He/she lay on her mother’s knees and was carried on her mother’s back. This mother made this person sleep well who fails to recognize the goodness of his/her mother, in life.

This man is like the one who blamed the Earth by claiming that it swallows people when they are buried, not realizing that it is an act of love, because he also does not recognize the goodness of his biological mother, in his life. That is why he/she blames her by saying that, “I have a mother whom we feed but she is never satisfied – land.”

This riddle imparts in people a clue on how to recognize the good deeds which were done by their parents, which include bringing them into the world, and caring for them as adults, so that they can thank them by respecting and taking good care of them, in their lives.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo adadulile ugulishosha ilino lyakwe ilolyingaga, kunguno nuweyi, adadulile ugulishosha numa ilikanza lyakwe ilo agalitumilaga bho gwigulambija gutumama milimo yakwe yiniyo, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhanhu giki, “isonga lyane ulu lyinga lidalashoga – lino.”

Kitendawili hicho, huongelea juu ya jino. Jino la mtu mzima liking’oka huwa halirudi, kwa sababu huwa linang’oka na mizizi yake. Lenyewe liking’oka ndiyo kusema, mwenye jino hilo amekosa. Ndiyo maana husema kwamba, “mshale wangu ukitoka haurudi – jino.”

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huutumia vizuri muda wake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hujilawa asubuhi kwenda kwenye kazi zake, na kuzitekeleza kwa bidii kubwa, kwa sababu ya uelewa wa faida ya muda wake huo, katika kujiletea maendeleo. Yeye hufanikiwa kupata mafanikio mengi zaidi katika kazi zake, kwa sababu ya bidii yake hiyo ya kuutumia vizuri muda wake huo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule alisiyeweza kulirudisha jino lakwe lililo ng’oka, kwa sababu naye hawezi kuurudisha nyuma muda wake anaoutumia kwa kujiletea maendeleo, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana husema kwamba, “mshale wangu ukitoka haurudi – jino.”

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kuutumia vizuri muda wao kwa kujibidisha kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi zaidi, maishani mwao.

MY ARROW WHEN GOES OUT IT NEVER COMES BACK – A TOOTH.

This riddle talks about an uprooted tooth. When an adult’s tooth is taken out, it does not return, because it is always rooted. The very thing that can be said is that the owner of the tooth has missed it. That is why the owner says that, “If my arrow goes out it does not come back – tooth.”

This riddle is related to the person who spends nicely most of his time in life. Such person, in the morning, goes to work, and performs it with great diligence, because of being aware of the benefits of his time, in bringing about development. He succeeds in achieving greater success in his endeavors, because of his diligence in using well his time in life.

This person is like the one who was unable to bring back his uprooted tooth, because he also cannot regain the time he spends for development, in his life. That is why he says that, “If my arrow goes out it does not come back – tooth.”

This riddle imparts in people an idea on how to use their time well by striving to fulfill their responsibilities, so that they can have more success in their lives.
