Imbuki ya kalagu yiniyo, ilolile kikalile ka ngoko. Ingoko yiniyo igigalaga yukulagula umugwicholela ijiliwa jayo, umukikalile kayo kenako. Iyoyi igajitagulaga hasi ijiliwa nulu jigikala jitulile mujisema, kunguno ya wigulambija bho gwicholela jagulya. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagiganilaga giki, “gwa kagakulagaulaga – kagoko.”

Ikalagu yiniyo, igalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agigulambijaga gwicholela sabho bho gutumama milimo yakwe bhuli lushigu, umukitakile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikalaga wigulambija gutumama milimo yakwe bho gwanguha uguyandya uguitumama bhuli lushigu, kunguno ya gutogwa guyibheja chiza ikaya yakwe yiniyo. Uweyi agapandikaga sabho ningi umumilimo yakwe kunguno ya wigulambija bhokwe bhunubho ubho gutumama milimo, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga ni nkogo iyo igikalaga yuchola jiliwa bhuli lushigu, kunguno nuweyi agigulambijaga kutumama milimo yakwe chiza, mpaga opandika sabho ningi, umubhutumami bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “gwa kagakulagulaga – kagoko.”

KILA SIKU HUPEKUAPEKUA – KUKU.

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho, huangalia maisha ya kuku. Kuku huyo, hupekuapekua kila siku katika kujitafutia chakula chake, katika maisha yake hayo. Yeye hukimwaga chini hata chakula kile kilichomo kwenye chombo kizuri kwa sababu ya bidii yake hiyo ya kutafuta chakula. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “kila siku hupekuapekua – kuku.”

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hujibidisha kutafuta mali kwa kufanya kazi zake kila siku, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwa akijibidisha kufanya kazi zake kwa kuwahi kwenda kazini kila wakati kwa sababu ya kutaka kuitunza vizuri familia yake. Yeye hufanikiwa kupata mali nyingi katika kazi zake kwa sababu ya bidii yake hiyo ya kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yake hayo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule kuku aliyejibisha kutafuta chakula kila siku, kwa sababu naye hujibidisha kufanya kazi vizuri, mpaka anafanikiwa kupata mali nyingi za kutosha kuitunza vizuri familia yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “kila siku hupekuapekua – kuku.”

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao kila siku ili waweze kupata mali nyingi za kutosha kuzitunza vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

IT PECKS EVERY DAY – CHICKEN.

The basis of the above riddle looks at the life of the chicken. The chicken search every day for their food in their lives. They even pour out the food that is in the fine container because of their zeal for the food. That is why people say that, “It pecks every day – chicken.”

This riddle is compared to a man who strives to seek wealth by doing his daily work, in his life. This person, in turn, strives to do his job by going to work all the time because he wants to take good care of his family. He succeeds in gaining wealth in his work because of his diligence in fulfilling his responsibilities in his life.

This man is like the hen that had to work hard to get food every day, because he also strives to work hard, until he manages to get enough wealth to take good care of his family. That is why people say to him that, “It pecks every day – chicken.”

This riddle teaches people on how to work hard every day so that they can earn enough money to take good care of their families in their lives.

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo alina masala magehu, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikalaga wambilijiwa bhuli makanza na bhanhu abho agikalaga nabho kunguno adidulile ugwimilila bho gwilanhana ng’winikili, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agakoyaga noyi agwigala chiza ulu ugayiwa uogung’wambilija, aho agikilaga.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga niligunila ilo lidina ginhu umo ligadumilaga ugwimila, kunguno nuweyi adadulile ugwimila ubho ing’wene, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhang’wilaga giki, “igunila iduhu lidimilaga.”

Methali hiyo, huongelea juu ya ugumu wa junia kusimama lililotupu. Gunia hilo haliwezi kusimama kwa sababu halina kitu cha kuliwezesha kufanya hivyo ndani yake. Lenyewe huanguka chini tu endapa mtu atajaribu kulisimamisha kwa sababu ya ulaini wake huo. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “gunia tupu halisimami.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana akili pungufu, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hutegemea kupata msaada kila wakati kutoka kwa wale anaoishi nao, kwa sababu hajiwezi kujitegemea mwenyewe kwa kusimama peke yakwe, maishani mwake. Yeye huhangaika mno akikosa mtu wa kumsaidia, pale anapoishi.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na lile gunia lisilokuwa na kitu lisivyoweza kusimama, kwa sababu naye hawezi kusimama pele yake bila kuwa na mtu wa kumsaidia, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “gunia tupu halisimami.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na moyo wa kuwasaidia watu wao waliopungukia akili au wale waliojiweza, ili waweze kuwatunza vizuri, maisha ni mwao.

ENGLISH: “AN EMPTY SACK CANNOT STAND.”

The overhead proverb speaks about a difficulty of an empty sack to stand. Such sack cannot stand because it has nothing in it which can hold it enough to do so. It just falls to the ground if one tries to make it stand because of its softness. That is why people say that, “An empty sack cannot stand.”

This proverb is compared to a man who has a limited mind, in his life. He relies on constant support from those who live around him, because he is not able to stand alone on his own two feet. He is very worried about not having anyone to help him, where he lives.

This man is like the empty sack that has nothing in it that can make it stand, because he also not enable to live alone without anyone to help him, in his life. That is why people say that, “An empty sack cannot stand.”

This proverb teaches people about having a temperament of helping their mentally retarded people or the able-bodied, so that they can take good care of them, life is theirs.

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agatumama milimo mingi kuli kanza limo, umubhutumami bhokwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agandyaga gutumama milimo mingi iyo adayimalaga, kunguno ya gubhucha milimo mingi kuli kanza limo linilo, niyo alibhung’wene ubhuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agikalaga na makoye ga gugayiwa sabho aha ng’wakwe kunguno ya kuduma uguimala imilimo yakwe iyo agayaandyaga yiniyo, umukikalile kakwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu ntoji o mhali uyo agisendeja kuli nkima umo duhu, uungi unekanija, kunguno nuweyi agandyaga kutumama milimo mingi mpaga oduma uguimala, umubhutumami bhokwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “ob’ityaga nkob’a.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kutola nkima umo duhu, na gutumama nimo gumo umubhutumami bhobho, kugiki bhadule gwikala chiza na kupandika sabho ningi, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: AMEPITISHA MKANDA WA NGOZI.

Msemo huo, huongelea juu ya uegemeaji wa upande mmoja wa mtu aliyekuwa na mitala. Mtu huyo, alikuwa na wake wawili ambao alishindwa kujigawa katika kuwahudumia kwa sababu aliegemea kwa mke mmoja tu na kumtelekeza yule mwingine. Ndiyo maana watu walisema kwamba, “amepitisha mkanda wa ngozi.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huanzisha kazi nyingi kwa wakati mmoja, katika kazi zake. Mtu huyo, huanzisha miradi mingi ambayo huwa hana uwezo wa kuitekeleza yote kwa wakati huyo mmoja na yuko peke yake, katika maisha yake. Yeye huishi katika matatizo ya kukosa mali kwenye familia yake, kwa sababu ya kushindwa kuimaliza miradi yake hiyo aliyoyianzisha, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyeoa mitala akaegemea kwa mke mmoja na kumtelekeza yule mwingine, kwa sababu naye huanzisha miradi mingi kwa wakati mmoja na kushindwa kuimaliza, katika utendaji wake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “amepitisha mkanza wa ngozi.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na mke mmoja, na kutekeleza kwa umakini kazi moja kwa wakati mmoja, ili waweze kuishi vizuri na kupata mafanikio mengi maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: HE HAS PASSED THE LEATHER BELT.

The above saying refers to the one-sided dependence of a polygamist. Such man, however, had two wives whom he could not afford in order to take care for them because he depended on only one wife and abandoned the other. That is why people said that, “He has passed the leather belt.”

This saying is applied to the person who initiates many tasks at once, in his works. This person, in turn, initiates many projects that he or she is not able to accomplish all at once and is alone, in his or her life. He/she lives in the midst of a lack of property in his family, because of his inability to complete the projects that he started, in life.

This resembles the man who married a polygamist and leaned on one wife and abandoned the other, because he also initiates many projects at the same time and fails to complete them, in his enactment. That is why people said to him that, “He has passed the leather belt.”

This saying imparts in people an idea on having one wife, and seriously implementing one task at a time, so that they can live well enough to achieve more success in their lives.

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agalimaga migunda mitale iyo agampandikilaga majiliwa mingi gete, umukikalile kakwe.  Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikomejaga kulima bho gwipuna diyu bhuli lushigu ogalima migunda mitale ya jiliwa ja bhuli mbika, kunguno ya bhukamu bhokwe ubho gutumama milimo bhunubho. Uweyi agajikwijaga noyi isabho umubhulimi bhokwe bhunubho, kunguno ya witegeleja bhokwe, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Isabho jakwe umunhu ng’wunuyo, jigikolaga nijiliwa ijo bhagajipandika abhalimu abho mpaga bhuyujipandagila bho magulu gabho, kunguno nijoyi jakwila mpaga uduma ugujimala ugujilwa umunhu ng’wunuyo kihamo ni kaya yakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhenabho bhagayomba giki, “Ntemi ogwa mumagulu.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gwigulambija gutumama milimo yabho bho bhukamu bhutale mpaga bhapandike sabho ningi, ja gudula gugamala makoye ga nzala, umukaya jabho.

Chanzo cha msemo huo, kilianzia kwa watu waliolima mashamba wakapata chakula kingi sana. Watu hao, walilima mashamba ya mazao mbalimbali ambayo yaliwapatia chakula kingi mpaga wakaanza kukikanyaga kwa miguu yao, kwa sababu ya wingi wake uliowazidi hivyo. Ndiyo maana watu hao walianza kusema kwamba, “mfalme ameanguka miguuni.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hulima mashamba makubwa ya mazao mbalimbali, na kupata chakula kingi, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hujibidisha kulima mazao ya aina mbalimbali kwenye mashamba yake hayo makubwa, ambayo humpatia chakula kingi cha kula na kusaza kwenye familia yake, kwa sababu ya bidii yake hiyo kufanya kazi. Yeye hukusanya mali nyingi sana katika kilimo chake hicho, kwa sababu ya umakini wake mkubwa katika kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yake, maishani mwake.

Mali ya mtu huyo, hufanana na chakula kingi walichokipata wale wakulima ambacho walishindwa kukimalima kukila mpaka wakaanza kukikanyaga kwa miguu yao, kwa sababu nazo zimekuwa nyingi sana, mpaka mtu huyo na familia yake, wakashindwa kuzimalima. Ndiyo maana watu hao walisema kwamba, “mfalme ameanguka miguuni.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao kwa bidii kubwa mpaka wafanikiwe kupata mali nyingi, cha kuweza kuyamaliza matatizo ya njaa, katika familia zao.

ENGLISH: THE KING HAS FALLEN ON HIS FEET.

The origin of the above saying started from the people who farmed enough to get a lot of food. They cultivated a variety of crops that provided them with plenty of food to point of starting to trample it underfoot, because of its excessive quantity. That is why the people began to say that, “the king has fallen on his feet.”

This saying is related to a man who cultivates a large farm of crops, and obtains plenty of food, throughout his life. This man, in turn, strives to cultivate a wide variety of crops on his large farm, which provides him with plenty of food to eat for his family, because of his hard working. He accumulates a great deal of wealth in his field, because of his great care in carrying out his duties, in his lifetime.

This man’s property is like the food that the farmers got which they could not finish to use it until they began to trample it with their feet, because he also got so abundant food that his his family could not finish to use it. That is why the people said that, “The king has fallen on his feet.”

This saying teaches people on how to work hard enough to succeed in acquiring more wealth for using in their families, so that they can end hunger problems in their families.

Mtu huyo, hujibidisha kufanya kazi zake kwa bidii kubwa mpaka anafanikiwa kupata mali nyingi kwa sababu ya uaminifu wake huo kwa watu wake, maishani mwake. Yeye hufanikiwa kupata mavuno mengi kila mwaka kwenye mazao anayolima, kwa sababu anafahamu vizuri muda wa kuanza kulima kila zao, katika kazi yake hiyo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule ng’ombe aliyetoa mazima mengi ya kuwatosha wafugaji wake, kwa sababu naye hufanya kazi kwa bidii na kupata mali za kutosha kuitunza familia yake kwa muda wote. Ndiyo maana wanafamilia wake hao, humuita kwamba, “huyu kimwaga mboga.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao vizuri na kufuga mifugo mingi, ili waweze kupata mali nyingi za kutosha kuwasaidia kwa muda wote, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THIS IS A PERSON WHO POURS VEGETABLES.

This saying refers to a cow that has given up many lives. The herdsmen of such herd, for the sake of their riches, such cow is a great help to them. They use the milk to make porridge, because that is the vegetable itself. Even if the cooks send them greens’ leafy, they will return unused by the breeders. That is why the herdsmen call say that, “this is a person who pours vegetables.”

This saying is likened to a man who takes good care of his family by providing them with food for the rest of his life. Such man strives to work hard until he succeeds in obtaining great wealth because of his loyalty to his people, in his life. He manages to get a good harvest every year on the crops which he cultivates, because of him being aware of when to start cultivating every crop, in his works.

This man is like the cow that made a lot of money for its keepers, because he also worked hard to have enough money to take care of his family all the time. That is why his family members say that, “this is a person who pours vegetables.”

This saying teaches people on how to work hard enough to raise a lot of wealth, so that they can earn enough money to support them all the time, in their lifetime.
