Alikuwepo mtu aliyeishi kwenye kijiji fulani. Mtu huyo aliizuia pikipiki kwenda kwa kuishikilia na mikono yake. Lakini basi, mtu huyo alichoka bure kwa sababu hakuna faida aliyoipata baada ya kuiachia kwenda pikipiki hiyo. Ndiyo maana watu walimwambia kwamba, “si kila mwenye nguvu ni mwerevu.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu aliye na nguvu nyingi lakini hapati faida yoyote katika kazi zake. Mtu huyo hufanya kazi ngumu na nzito zisizompatia faida yoyote kwa sababu ya kukosa umakini anapofanya kazi zake hizo. Yeye hujichosha bure kwa sababu ya kukosa huo umakini anazipofanya kazi zake hizo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyeshikilia pikipiki mpaka ikashindwa kwenda, kwa sababu naye hutumia nguvu nyingi kwa kufanya kazi ngumu na ndito mpaga anachoka bila kupata faida yoyote, katika maisha yake hayo. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “si kila mwenye nguvu ni mwerevu.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kufanya kazi zao kwa umakini mkubwa, ili waweze kupata faida kubwa kwenye kazi zao hizo, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: NOT EVERYONE WHO HAS STRENGTH IS SMART.

There was a man who lived in a certain village. He had strength enough to stop a motorcycle from going by holding it with his hands. But then he got tired in vain because of getting no benefit after letting go of the motorcycle. That is why people told him that, “not everyone who has strength is smart.”

This saying is compared to a person who has a lot of power but does not get any benefit in his works. Such person does hard and heavy works which not give him any benefit because of the lack of focus when doing them. He exhausts himself in vain because of a lack of that attention when he does his tasks, in his life.

This person resembles the one who held a motorcycle until it could not go, because he also uses a lot of energy in doing hard works until he gets tired without getting any benefit in his life. That is why people tell him that, “not everyone who has strength is smart.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of doing their works with great attention, so that they can get a lot of profits from their works in their lives.

KISWAHILI: MIMI NIMEFYONZWA FISI NIKIWA NAENDA.

Methali hiyo ilianzia kwa mtu yule aliwaachisha fisi mfugo waliokuwa wameukamata. Fisi hao huishi polini wakati wa mchana lakini usiku huingia kwenye makazi ya watu ili kujitafutia chakula.

Fisi hao walimkamata mfugo kwa bahati akaja akapita pale mtu aliyekuwa katika safari zake akawanyanhanya mfuyo huo ndipo wakaanza kumfronza yeye akiwa anaenda bila kuwajali. Ndiyo maana yeye alisema kwamba, “mimi nimefyonzwa fisi nikiwa naenda.”

Methali hiyo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hudharauliwa na baadhi ya watu anapoanza kufanya kazi mpya katika utumishi wake. Mtu huyo, hujibidisha kufanya kazi kwa nguvu bila kuwajali wale wanaomdharau kwa sababu anazifahamu faida za kazi hiyo maishani mwake. Yeye hupata mafakinikio mengi mpaga wanaacha kumdharau wale waliokuwa wakifanya hivyo mwanzoni kwa sababu ya uvumilivu wake huo, katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yake hayo.

Mtu huyo hufanana na yule aliyefyonzwa na fisi bila kuwajali, kwa sababu naye hujibidisha kuyatekeleza majukumu yake bila kuwajali wale wanaomdharau, katika utumishi wake. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watu kwamba, “mimi nimefyonzwa fisi nikiwa naenda.”

Methali hiyo hufundisha watu juu ya kuvumilia kufanya kazi zao bila kuwajali wale wanaowadharau katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao hayo, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE BEEN ABSORBED BY HYENAS WHILE I GO.

The above proverb was originated from man who chased hyenas from taking his livestock which they had caught. The hyenas live in the field during the day but at night they enter human settlements to find food.

The hyenas caught the herd by chance and he came and passed by a man who was on his travels and snatched the livestock from them and they started to chase him while he was going without paying attention to them. That is why he said that, “I have been absorbed by hyenas while I go.”

This proverb is compared to that person who is despised by some people when he starts a new job in his service. That person, tries to work hard without caring about those who look down on him because he knows the benefits of that work in his life. He achieves a lot of success and they stop looking down on those who were doing it in the beginning because of his patience, in the implementation of his duties.

This person is similar to the one who was absorbed by hyenas without caring for them, because he also has to carry out his duties without caring for those who despise him, in his service. That is why he tells people that, “I have been absorbed by hyenas while I go.”

This proverb teaches people to persevere in doing their works without caring about those who despise them in the execution of their duties, so that they can achieve many successes in their lives.

Uweyi agadumaga uguimala chiza imilimo yakwe kunguno ya guyandya guitumama bho nduhu ugwiganika chiza gokwe gunuyo.

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huanza kufanya kazi ambazo hana uwezo nayo, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huanza kufanya kazi zake bila kufikiria vizuri kwanza kabla hajaanza kuzitekeleza kwa sababu ya kujidai kwake kuwa na nguvu. Yeye hushindwa kuzimaliza kazi zake kwa sababu ya kuanza kuzitekeleza kwake huko bila kufikiria vizuri kwanza, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo hufanana na yule aliyejaribu kumkamua nyati akashindwa, kwa sababu naye hushindwa kuzimaliza kazi anazozianzisha bila kufikiri kwanza vizuri, katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yake hayo. Ndiyo maana watu humshangaa kwa kumwambia kwamba, “mtu mkubwa anamkamua nyati!”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kutekeleza kazi wanazoziweza kwa kufikiria vizuri kwanza kabla hawajanza kuzifanya, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: A BIG MAN IS MILKING A BUFFALO!

This saying refers a someone how was milking a buffalo. The buffalo is a large animal that lives in the wild and is very fierce. There was a man who was trying to do great things in his life, because of his strength. He tried to milk the Buffalo which attached him near to death because of his determination of trying even what was beyond his ability. That is why people surprised him by telling him that, “a big man is milking a buffalo!”

This saying is compared to a person who starts doing tasks that he is not capable of, in his life. Such person, begins to do his work without thinking well first before he begins to implement it because of his self-assertion to be strong. He fails to complete his tasks because of doing them without researching or thinking well first, in his life.

This person is similar to the one who tried to milk a buffalo and failed, because he also fails to finish the tasks which he starts without thinking first in his duties. That is why people surprise him by telling him that, “a big man milks a buffalo!”

This saying installs in people an idea of performing tasks that they are capable of by thinking well first before doing them, so that they can get a lot of successes, in their lives.

Wao walipomuona walichanganyikiwa mpaka wakaanza kudhurura hovyo kwa sababu ya kitendo chao hicho walichokifanya. Ndiyo maana watu waliwaambia kwamba, “hao wamelaniwa kabisa.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa watu wale ambao hawayajali maagizo ya wazazi wao, katika maisha yao. Watu hao huwa na kiburi ya kuwadharau wakubwa wao wanapowaambia neno fulani kwa sababu ya kiburi chao hicho. Wao hupata matatizo mengi katika familia zao kwa sababu ya kuyavunja maagizo yale wanayopewa na wazazi wao, maishani mwao.

Watu hao hufanana na wale walioingia kwenye chumba cha mama yao ambacho walikatazwa kuingia, kwa sababu nao huyavunja maagizo yale wanayoambiwa na wakubwa wao. Ndiyo maana watu huwaambia kwamba, “hao wamelaniwa kabisa.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuyaishi vizuri maagizo ya wazazi wao kwa kuwatunza vizuri katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao, ili waweze kuishi salama, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THEY ARE COMPLETELY CURSED.

There were men who entered their mother’s room in which they were prohibited. After entering, they found their mother naked because she did not know that they would enter in. When they saw her, they were confused until they started harming her because of what they did. That is why people told them that, “they are completely cursed.”

This saying is compared to people who do not care about instructions of their parents, in their lives. Those people are proud by despising their superiors who warn them because of their pride. They consequently get many problems in their families because of breaking instructions which given to them by their parents, in their lives.

These people are like those who entered their mother’s room which they were forbidden to be in, because they also break the instructions given to them by their superiors. That is why people tell them that, “they are completely cursed.”

This saying teaches people on how to put into practice instructions of their parents by taking good care of them in fulfilling their responsibilities, so that they can live safely, in their lives.

Uweyi agabhalangaga abhanhu bhaha kaya yakwe shimile sha gudimila nhungwa ja wiza kunguno ya bhushiganu bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nili jiganga ilo lidazegejiyagwa kunguno nuweyi alinshiganu umushimilile shakwe pye amakanza, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “ndito aliyo adimanile igiki ndito – jiganga.”

Ikalagu yiniyo, yalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na shimile jishikanu ija gwikala munhungwa jawiza bhuli makanza, kugiki bhadule kujilanhana chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: KITENDAWILI  –  TEGA.

MZITO LAKINI HAJITAMBUI KWAMBA NZITO –  MWAMBA.

Kitendawili hicho huangalia mwamba ambao umepachikwa au umesimama. Mwamba huo upo pale ulipo wakati wote na haujitambui kuwa ni mzito. Ndiyo maana watu huhadithiana kwamba, “mzito lakini hajitambui kwamba mzito – Mwamba.”

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana msimamo mzuri katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huongea maneno ya hekima na ya kweli bila kudanganywa wala kugeuzwa na mtu mwingine kwa sababu ya uaminifu wake. Yeye huwafundisha watu walioko kwenye familia yake namna ya kuwa na msimamo wa kuishi katika maadili mema kwa sababu ya kupenda ukweli kwake, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na ule mwamba usiosogezwa kwa sababu naye ana msimamo wa kuishi katika maadili mema muda wote katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “mzito lakini hajitambui kwamba mzito – Mwamba.”

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na msimamo wa kuishi katika maadili mema siku zote, ili waweze kuzilea familia zao katika maadili hayo mema siku zote, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

HE IS HEAVY BUT HE DOES NOT REALIZE THAT HE IS HEAVY – ROCK.

This puzzle looks at the rock that is embedded or standing. It is there all the time and it does not realize that it is heavy. That is why people tell each other about him that, “he is heavy but he does not realize that he is heavy – Rock.”

This paradox is related to a person who has a good position in his life. Such person, speaks words of wisdom and truth without being deceived or changed by another person because of his honesty. He teaches people in his family on how to have a position of living in good morals because of his love for the truth in his life.

This person is like the unmoved rock because he also has a position of living in good morals all the time in his life. That is why people tell him that, “he is heavy but he does not realize that he is heavy – Rock.”

This riddle imparts in people an idea on having a position of living in good morals all the time, so that they can raise their families in those good morals all the time, in their lives.
