Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikalaga ubhakalihila sagala abhanhu bha ha kaya yakwe, kunguno ya bhukali bhokwe bhunubho. KISWAHILI: MIMI SIO WA KULETEWA MAJIGAMBO.

Walikuwepo watu waliozozana kwenye kijiji cha Mwatuma. Watu hao, walizozania mpaka wa mashamba yao mpaka wakaanza kutukanana kwa sababu ya hasira zao. Mmoja wao alionesha kwamba yeye hatishwi na yeyote wala hashindwi. Ndiyo maana alisema kwamba, “mimi sio wa kuletewa majigambo.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hukasirika haraka mpaka anaongea maneno yasiyo na faida, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwa anawakaripia hovyo watu walioko kwenye familia yake, kwa sababu ya hasira zake hiyo. Yeye huwasambaratisha watu anaoishi nao kwenye familia yake, mpaka anabaki yeye peke yake, kwa sababu ya hasira zake hizo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na wale waliozozania mpaka wa mashamba yao, mpaka wakaanza kutukanana hovyo, kwa sababu naye hukasirika haraka mpaka anaanza kuwatukana hovyo watu walioko kwenye familia yake, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watu hao kwamba, “mimi sio wa kuletewa majigambo.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha hasira za kuwatukana hovyo wenzao, ili waweze kuzilea vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I AM NOT ONE TO BE BOASTED ABOUT.

There were people who quarreled in a village of Mwatuma. Those people argued about the border of their fields until they started insulting each other because of their anger. One of them showed that he is not threatened by anyone and does not fail. That is why he said that, “I am not one to be boasted about.”

This saying is equaled to a person who gets angry quickly until he speaks useless words in his life. Such person scolds the people in his family carelessly, because of his anger. He despises the people who stay with him in his family, until he remains alone, because of his anger.

This person resembles to those who quarreled over the border of their fields, until they started insulting each other carelessly, because he also gets angry quickly until he starts insulting people in his family. That is why he tells those people that, “I am not one to be boasted about.”

This saying, instils in people an idea of stopping anger of insulting their fellows, so that they can raise well their families, in their lives.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu nimi obhulubha uyo olimaga gwingila diyu mpaga mhindi, kunguno nuweyi agigulambijaga gutumama milimo yakwe bho gwingila diyu mpaga oimala chiza, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene bhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “ulinogela jib’ele.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lolanga bhanhu higulya ya gutumama milimo yabho bho gwiyumilija mpaga bhayimala chiza, kugiki bhadule gupandika majikolo mingi, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: UNACHOKA KWA FAIDA.

Alikuwepo mtu aliyelima shamba la pamba karibu na njia. Mtu huyo, alikuwa akilima shambani mwake humo kuanzia asubuhi hadi jioni. Lakini ulifika wakati, akawa analima pole pole kwa sababu ya uchovu wa kufanya kazi yake hiyo kwa muda mrefu. Ndiyo maana watu waliokuwa wakipita kwenye njia hiyo, walimwambia kwamba, “unachoka kwa faida.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huvumilia kufanya kazi ngumu mpaka anaimaliza, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hujibidisha kufanya kazi zake kuanzia asubuhi hadi jioni kwa sababu anazielewa faida za kazi hizo, katika siku za mbeleni. Yeye hupata mali yenye thamani ya kuwa na vitu vingi sana kwenye familia yake, kwa sababu ya uvumilivu wake huo wa kufanya kazi mpaka anaimaliza vizuri, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule mkulima wa pamba aliyelima kuanzia asubuhi hadi jioni, kwa sababu naye hujibidisha kufanya kazi zake kwa uvumilivu kuanzia asubuhi hadi anazimaliza vizuri, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “unachoka kwa faida.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kufanya kazi zao kwa uvumilivu mpaga wanazimaliza vizuri, ili waweze kupata mafanikio ya kuwa na mali nyingi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: YOU ARE GETTING TIRED FOR PROFITS

There was a man who cultivated a cotton field near a pathway. Such man was farming in his field from morning to evening. But when the time came, he was slowly plowing because of the fatigue of doing his work for a long time. That is why the people who were passing by that way, told him that, “you are getting tired for profits.”

This proverb is compared to the person who endures doing hard work until he finishes it, in his life. Such person tries to do his work from morning to evening because he understands the benefits of such work in the future. He gets a valuable asset enough to have many things in his family, because of his patience of working until he finishes it well, in his life.

This person is similar to the cotton farmer who cultivated from morning to evening, because he also has to do his work patiently from morning until he finishes it well, in his life. That is why people tell him that, “you are getting tired for profits.”

This proverb, teaches people about doing their works with patience until they finish them well, so that they can get the success of having a lot of wealth in their lives.

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo ali ni hanga lya wiza aliyo amiito gakwe gali gabhub’i, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agiyolechaga guti owiza ubho gunhola aliyo agiganikaga miganiko mab’i umunholo yakwe, kunguno ya miito gakwe aga bhub’i genabho. Uweyi agenhelejaga bhanhu gwikenya aha kaya yakwe, kunguno ya miito gakwe aga bhub’i genayo, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu nyembe uyo goli gusoga ihanze aliyo gubholile umugati yago, kunguno nuweyi ali ni hanga lya wiza aliyo amiito gakwe gali ga bhub’i, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “bhusoga wikob’a, munda b’ub’ole.”

KISWAHILI: UZURI WA NGOZI, TUMBONI UOZO.

Methali hiyo, huangalia uzuri wa nje ya kitu fulani na ubaya uliyopo ndani yake. Alikuwepo mtu ambaye aliliona embe zuri sana mpaka akaamua kulichuma ili alile kwa sababu ya uzuri wake huo wa nje. Alipolimenya embe hilo, aligundua kwamba, kumbe lilikuwa limeoza ndani yake. Ndiyo maana alisema kwamba, “uzuri wa ngozi, tumboni uozo.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana sura nzuri lakini matendo yake ni maovu, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hujionesha kwa nje kuwa ni mzuri, lakini hufikiria mawazo mabaya katika moyo wake, kwa sababu ya matendo yake hayo maovu. Yeye hugombanisha watu walioko kwenye familia yake, kwa sababu ya matendo yake hayo maovu, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na lile embe lililoonekana zuri kwa nje, lakini ndani yake lilikuwa limeoza, kwa sababu naye ana sura nzuri, lakini matendo yake ni maovu, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “uzuri wa ngozi, tumboni uozo.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha mwenendo wa kutenda maovu, kwa kutenda mema, ili waweze kuishi kwa amani, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: BEAUTY OF THE SKIN, ROT IN THE STOMACH.

This proverb looks at the beauty which is outside of something and an ugliness of an inside of it. There was a man who saw a mango that was so beautiful that he decided to pick it to eat because of its external beauty. When he peeled it, he realized that it was rotten inside. That is why he said that, “beauty of the skin, rot in the stomach.”

This proverb is related to a person who has a good appearance but his actions are evil in his life. Such person shows himself to be good on the outside, but thinks evil thoughts in his heart, because of his wicked deeds. He quarrels the people in his family, because of his evil deeds, in his life.

This person is like a mango that looked good on the outside, but inside it was rotten, because he also shows a good face, but his actions are evil, in his life. That is why people tell him that, “beauty of the skin, rot in the stomach.”

This proverb imparts in people an idea of stopping doing evil by doing good, so that they can peacefully live with their societal members in lives.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, alintungilija aliyo lulu agahubhiyagwa na bhiye abho bhali na nhungwa ja bhubhi kunguno agayelaga nabho, umubhutumami milimo yakwe yiniyo. Uweyi agapandikaga mamihayo gagwenhelejiwa na bhiye bhenabho abha miito gabhubhi, kunguno ya gwikala nabho, umubhutumami bhokwe bhunubho.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agatyuja ugwa hasi aliyo oliodima, kunguno nuweyi alintungilija aliyo agahubhaga bho gwenhelejiwa na bhiye, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene agayombaga giki, “nulu ugadima ugutyuja.”

Ulusumo lunulo lolanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na witegeleja bho gwilalanhana na bhanhu abho, bhagatumamaga milimo yabho kugiki bhadizuhubhibhiwa nabho, umuwikaji bho bhutungilija bhobho bhunubho.

Mwanzo 3:1-7.

KISWAHILI: HATA UKISHIKA UTATELEZA.

Methali hiyo, humuongelea mtu aliyekuwa ameshikilia kwenye mti akateleza na kuanguka chini. Mtu huyo, alipanda kwenye mti wa miembe ili achume maembe ya kula. Kwa bahati mbaya aliteleza akaanguka chini, pamoja na kwamba alikuwa ameshikilia vizuri. Ndiyo maana alisema kwamba, “hata ukishika utateleza.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hukosea kwa kusababishwa na wenzake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, ni mwanamifu ambaye hukosea kwa kusababishwa na wenzake wenye mtendo maovu kwa sababu ya kutembea nao, katika kazi zake. Yeye hupata matatizo ya kusababishwa na wenzake hao wenye matendo maovu, kwa sababu ya kufanya kazi pamoja nao, katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyekuwa ameshika kwenye mti akateleza na kuanguka chini, kwa sababu naye ni mwaminifu, ambaye hukosea kwa kusababishwa na wenzake ambao wana matendo maovu, katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “hata ukishika utateleza.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kujilinda na watu wanaofanya kazi pamoja nao, ili wasikoseswe na wao, katika maisha yao hao ya uaminifu.

Mwanzo 3:1-7.

ENGLISH: EVEN IF YOU HOLD ON YOU WILL SLIP.

The overhead proverb speaks of a man who was holding on to a tree who slipped and fell down. This man climbed a mango tree in order to pick mangoes to eat. Unfortunately he slipped and fell to the ground, even though he was holding on well. That is why he said that, “even if you hold on, you will slip.”

This proverb is equated to a person who makes a mistake because of his nobles, in his life. Such person is a miscreant who errs because of his colleagues who do evil because of being with them, in his work. He gets problems which are caused by those colleagues who have evil deeds, because of working with them, in carrying out of his duties.

This person is similar to the one who was holding on to a tree who slipped and fell down, because he is also honest, who errs because of his colleagues who have wicked deeds, in the enactment of his duties. That is why he says that, “even if you hold on, you will slip.”

This proverb teaches people on how to be careful enough to protect themselves and the people who work with them, so that they are not wronged by them, in their honest lives.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, alina bhulingisilo ubho gujitumila ijikolo ni jiliwe ijo alinajo chiza, kunguno ya witegeleja bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agabhalangaga abhanhu ugujitumamila chiza ijikolo ijikoji pye ni jiliwa jabho, kunguno ya witegeleja bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nabho bhagatumilaga ginhu jikoji bho witegeleja, kunguno nuweyi agabhalangaga abhanhu bhakwe ugujitumila bho witegeleja ijiliwa ni jikolo jabho, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene uweyi agabhawilaga abhanhu bhakwe giki, “ili likangika.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kubhiza na witegeleja bhutale ubho gujitumila chiza ikolo jabho, kugiki bhadule gujilela chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

Isaya 5:22.

KISWAHILI: HILI NI KALI.

Kali ni kitu kinacho levya, au kusisimua, kama vile pombe, pilipili, tumbaku na vingine vinavyofanana na hivyo. Kitu hicho, hutumiwa kwa umakini na watu kwa sababu ya ukali wake huo. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “hii ni kali.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huvitumia kwa umakini mkubwa vitu vyake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwa na lengo la kuvitumia vizuri vyakula, vinyaji na vyote alivyo navyo, kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo. Yeye huwafundisha pia watu wake namna ya kuvitumia vizuri vitu vyao, kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na wale waliovitumia vileo kwa umakini, kwa sababu naye huwafundisha watu wake namna ya kuvitumia kwa umakini vileo na mali zao, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watu wake kwamba, “hii ni kali.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini mkubwa katika kuvitumia vileo na mali zao, ili waweze kuzilea vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THIS IS STRONG.

Strong thing is something that is intoxicating, or stimulating, such as alcohol, pepper, tobacco and the like. Such thing is used seriously by people because of its severity. That is why people say that, “this is strong.”

This saying is related to a person who uses his things very seriously, in his life. Such person always aims at making good use of food, vegetables and everything he has, because of his responsiveness. He also teaches his people on how to use their things well, because of his attention, in his life.

This person is similar to those who used alcohol seriously, because he also teaches his people on how to use alcohol and their property seriously, in his life. That is why he tells his people that, “this is strong.”

This saying teaches people about being very careful in using alcohol and their wealth, so that they can raise their families well, in their lives.
