Imbuki ya kahayile kenako, ihoyelile higulya ya bhuleki bho gung’wisha minzi mitugo. Jalihoyi ng’ombe ijo jigalya magula ga numbu ayo gagajenhelejaga gucha ulu jung’wa minzi. Abhanikili bha mitugo jinijo bhagajilemeja uguja ng’wa aminzi, gitumo bhagitilaga ulu jalyaga mandege momu, kunguno ya gujilanhana jigale mhola. Hunagwene bhagiwilaga giki, “jilekagi jime bhukanza duhu.”

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nabho bhagajilanhana ing’ombe jabho jukija ugucha, kunguno nuweyi agajilanhanaga isabho jakwe bho gujituula chiza, umukikakile kakwe. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhanhu bhakwe giki, “jilekagi jime bhukanga duhu.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kudebha kujilanghana chiza isabho jabho bho gujidilila chiza ijo bhalijipandika umubhutumami bhobho, kugiki jidule gubhambilija ku kulikanza lilihu umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: ZIACHENI ZIKAE BILA KUNYWA MAJI TU.

Chanzo cha msemo huo, chaongelea juu ya uachaji wa kunywesha mifugo maji. Kulikuwa na ng’ombe waliokula majani ya viazi ambayo huwapelekea kufa kama wakinywa maji. Wenye ng’ombe hao waliwazuia kunywa maji hayo, kama wafanyavyo kwa wale waliokula mahindi makavu, kwa sababu ya kuwalinda ili wasife. Ndiyo maana wao waliambiana kwamba, “ziacheni zikae bila kunywa maji tu.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule afahamuye kuvitunza vizuri vitu vyake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huviweka vitu vyake hivyo katika matunzo ya hali ya juu kwa sababu ya moyo wake huo wa kuzijali vizuri mali zake hizo, katika maisha yake. Yeye hupata mali nyingi sana kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya utunzaji wake wa kila mali anayoipata, katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na wamiliki wa ng’ombe waliowatunza mpaka wakabaki salama, kwa sababu naye huzitunza vizuri mali anazozipata katika kazi zake, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana huwaambia watu wake kwamba, “ziacheni zikae bila kunywa maji tu.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuelewa kuzitunza vizuri mali wanazozipata katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao, ili ziweze kuwasaidia kwa kipindi kirefu, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: YOU LET THEM STAY WITHOUT DRINKING WATER.

This saying is about preventing livestock from drinking water. There were cows that ate potato leaves which could lead to death if they could drink water. The owners of them prevented them from drinking the water, as they do for those who ate dry corn, because of protecting them from dying. That is why they said to each other, “you let them stay without drinking water.”

This saying is compared to the person who knows how to take good care of his things, in his life. This person keeps his things in high quality care because of his inspired heart enough to take good care of his possessions, in his life. He gets a lot of wealth in his family because of his good caring of every property he gets, in fulfilling his duties.

This person is similar to the owners of cows who took care of them until they remained safe, because he also takes care of his things in life. That is why he tells people that, “you let them stay without drinking water.”

This saying instills in people a clue on understanding ways of taking good care of the assets which they get in fulfilling their duties, so that they can help them for a long time, in their lives.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, oli na mabhonde mingi ayo oliolima maguha, madoke, minyemba, machungwa na gangi mingi. Uweyi wikalaga usingijaga umumabhonde gakwe genayo ayo gali mumongo kunguno ya gugalingulila na gutumama milimo moyi. Hunagwene abhanhu bhang’witanaga giki, “magulu ganunha mongo.”

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agamishaga diyu ogayitumama imilimo yakwe chiza bhuli lushigu, kunguno ya bhukamu bho gutumama milimo yakwe yiniyo, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agapandikaga solobho nhale noyi umumilimo yakwe yiniyo, kunguno ya bhudiliji bhokwe bhunubho, umukikalile kakwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo odililaga mabhonde gakwe bho gwikala agugalimilaga umumongo chiniko, kunguno nuweyi agadililaga milimo yakwe bho gutumama milimo chiza mpaga opandika solobho ya gubhiza na sabho ninghi umubhutumami bhokwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’witanaga giki, “magulu ganunha mongo.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya guyidilila milimo yabho bho guyitumama mpaga bhayimala chiza, kugiki bhadule gupandika solobho ya kubhiza na jikolo ja gubhambilija chiza umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: MIGUU IMENUKA MTO.

Chanzo cha msemo huo, huongelea juu ya mtu aliyekuwa akiishi kwenye mto kila wakati katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, alikuwa na bustani nyingi za miwa, ndizi, maembe, machungwa na matunda mengine mengi. Yeye alikuwa akiyatembelea mashamba yake hayo ya bustani yaliyokuwa mtoni kwa ajili ya kuyakagua na kuyatunza vizuri, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu walimuita jila la “miguu imenuka mto.”      

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huzijali kazi zake kwa kuzitunza vizuri mpaka zinamletea faida kubwa maishani mwake. Mtu huyo, huamuka asubuhi na kwenda kufanya kazi vizuri kila siku kwa sababu ya bidii yake hiyo ya kutekeleza kazi zake hizo. Yeye hupata faida kubwa kutoka kwenye kazi zake hizo kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo wa kuzitekeleza vizuri, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyezijali bustani zake kwa kuzitunza vizuri, mpaga zikampatia faida kubwa, kwa sababu naye huzijali kazi zake kwa kuzitunza, mpaka zinamletea faida kubwa, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humuita jina la “miguu imenuka mto.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuzijali kazi zao kwa kuzitekeleza vizuri mpaka mwisho, ili waweze kupata mafanikio makubwa ya kuwasaidia vizuri, katika maisha yao.

ENGLISH: THE FEET HAVE A SMELL OF A RIVER.

The overhead saying talks about a person who lived on the river all the time in his life. This man had many gardens of sugarcane, bananas, mangoes, oranges and other fruits. He used to visit his gardens that were on the river enough to inspect and take good care of them, during his life. That is why people called him the name of “the feet have a smell of a river.”

This saying is compared to the person who takes care about his works by visiting them until they bring him great benefits in his life. This person wakes up in the morning and goes to work well every day because of his diligence in carrying out his works. He gets a lot of profit from his works because of his focus on fulfilling them well in his life.

This person is similar to the one who took care of his gardens by visiting them, until they gave him a lot of profit, because he also takes care of his works by inspecting them, until they bring him a lot of profit, in his life. That is why people call him “the feet have a smell of a river.”

This saying teaches people about taking care of their works by carrying them out well until the end, so that they can get great success can help them well, in their lives.

1080. UGWIGUMHA IDI GUGWA ALIYO ILI GUJA BHUTONGI.

Ulusumo lunulo, lulolile wigumhi bho ng’wa munhu nhebhe. Uwigumhi bhunubho bhuli wipami bho gunlelengetwa umunhu ng’wunuyo mpaga wendugwa aliyo ugadama chiza.

Umunhu uyo wigumhaga ng’wunuyo, aduhayiwa igiki agwaga hasi kunguno uweyi wigumhaga duhu. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “ugwihumha idi gugwa aliyo iliguja bhutongi.”

 Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo obhubhaga umuchalo jakwe ulomba bhulekejiwa, umuwikaji bhokwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhudebhaga ubhuhubhi bhokwe na kulomba bhulekejiwa bho gufumila kubhiye abho obhahubhilaga, umukikalile kakwe kenako.  Uweyi agagayiyagwa ubhuyeji kunguno ya guwiganika ubhuhubhi bhokwe bhunubho, umuchalo jakwe jinijo.

Ubhulombi bho gulekejiwa gokwe gunuyo gugang’wenhelaga lubhango ulu bhabhubokela chiza abhiye, kunguno agabhizaga na mholele, umumoyo gokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agigumha ulelengeta duhu bho nduhu ugugwa ihasi, kunguno nuweyi agahubhaga olomba bhulekejiwa na guyega kihamo nabhiye uluolekejiwa chiniko, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “ugwihumha idi gugwa aliyo iliguja bhutongi.”

KISWAHILI: KUJIKWAA SI KUANGUKA BALI NI KWENDA MBELE.

Methali hiyo, huangalia kujikwaa kwa mtu fulani. Kujikwa huko, ni kujigonga miguu yake kwenye kitu fulani ambacho humuyumbisha mtu huyo kiasi cha kunusulika kuanguka. Mtu huyo hataambiwa kwamba ameanguka bali amejikaa tu. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “kujikwaa si kuanguka bali ni kwenda mbele.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hufanya kosa fulani katika jamii na kuomba msamaha, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hulitambua upesi kosa lake na kuomba msamaha huo kwa wale aliowakosea, katika maisha yake. Yeye hukosa furaha kwa sababu ya kufikilia juu ya namna alivyowaumiza wengine kwa kosa lake hilo, maishani mwake.

Hatua yake ya kuomba msamaha humletea furaha kubwa unapopokelewa msamaha wake huo na wale aliowakosea, katika utekelejazi wa majukumu yake hayo.

Mtu huyo hufanana na yule aliyejikwaa akayumba bila kuanguka chini, kwa sababu naye hutenda kosa katika jamii na kulitumbua haraka kiasi cha kutosha kuomba msamaha, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “kujikwaa si kuanguka bali ni kwenda mbele.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na uvumilivu wa kutosha kuyatatua kwa haraka matatizo yanayowakumba katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao, maishani mwao, ili waweze kuzilea vizuri familia zao.

ENGLISH: STUMBLING IS NOT FALLING BUT GOING FORWARD.

The above proverb looks at someone’s stumbling. To stumble implies hitting one’s feet on something that shakes him/her enough to avoid falling. Such person will not be told that he/she has fallen but has just stumbled. That is why people say that, “stumbling is not falling but moving forward.”

This saying is compared to the person who commits some mistakes in society and asks for forgiveness, in his life. Such person quickly realizes his mistake and apologizes to those whom he wronged in his life. He becomes unhappy because of realizing how he has hurt others by his mistake, in his life.

His act of asking for forgiveness brings him great joy when his forgiveness is acknowledged by those whom he wronged, in the enactment of his duties.

This person is similar to the one who stumbled and staggered without falling down, because he also commits a mistake in society and realizes it quickly enough to ask for forgiveness, in his life. That is why people tell him that, “stumbling is not falling but moving forward.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of being patient enough to quickly solve the problems which they encounter in the implementation of their responsibilities, in their lives, so that they can nicely raise their families.

This saying is compared to the person who takes good care of his things in his life. This person does so by protecting and using them more carefully, because of his good attention. He stays with his things by using them for a long time, because of his good care, in his life.

Msemo huo, huangalia maisha ya Fahali. Lenyewe hasa huchomeka pembe zake likifika kwenye ukingo wa mto penye ubichi. Ndiyo maana watu humuita jina la “fahali mvuruga tope.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hupika ugali au hufanya kazi yoyote ya kutoka jasho, katika utendaji wake wa kazi. Mtu huyo, kujibidisha kwa hali ya juu kufanya kazi za kutosha jabho, mpaka anazimaliza vizuri, kwa sababu ya bidii yake hiyo ya kufanya kazi, maishani mwake. Yeye hufanikiwa kupata mali nyingi kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya kujibidisha kwake kufanya kwa nguvu hivyo, katika maisha yake.

ENGLISH: A MUD MIXER BULL.

The overhead saying looks at the life of the Bull. This Bull is a male cattle that sticks its horns in the mud especially when it reaches the grazing area, or when it sees another group of cows it sticks its horns down. It especially sticks out its horns when it reaches the edge of a river. That is why people call him as “a mud mixer bull.”

This saying is paralleled to a person who cooks stiff porridge or does any sweaty work, in his working activities. This person works hard to the point of finishing his works, because of his honest in his life. He manages to get a lot of wealth for his family because of his hard working in his life.

This person is like the bull that got his horns dirty by sticking them in the mud, because he also works hard enough to sweat to the point of finishing well his works, in his life. That is why people call consider him as “a mud mixer bull.”

This saying teaches people to be diligent in doing their works with strength until they finish them well, so that they can get assets that can help them in running well their families.
