Akahayile kenako, kahoyelile higulya ya milimo. Alihoyi munhu umo uyo otumamaga milimo yakwe bho makanza malihu bhuli lushigu. Abhanhu abho bhangenihaga aha kaya yakwe bhangayiyagwa mpaga bhanondeja guko milimo yakwe kunguno oliatogilwe gutumama milimo yakwe yiniyo. Hunagwene oyombaga giki, “musi milimo.”

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agamishaga diyu ogatumama milimo mitale bhuli lushigu kunguno ahayile guibheja chiza ikaya yakwe, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agapandikaga sabho ningi ja gudula guyilanhanila chiza ikaya yakwe yiniyo, umuwikaji bhokwe.

KISWAHILI: DUNIANI KAZI.

Msemo huo waongelea juu ya kazi. Alikuwepo mtu mmoja aliyekuwa akifanya kazi zake kwa muda mlefu kila siku. Watu waliomtembelea walilazimika kumfuata kwenye kazi zake hizo kwa sababu alipenda kufanya kazi zake hizo. Ndiyo maana aliwaambia watu kwamba, “duniani kazi.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hujibidisha kufanya kazi zake mpaga anapata mali za kuilisha vizuri familia yake. Mtu huyo, hujilawa asubuhi na mapema kwenda kufanya kazi kubwa kila siku kwa sababu anapenda kuiedeleza vizuri familia yake, maishani mwake. Yeye hupata mali nyingi za kuweza kuitunza familia yake hiyo, kwa sababu ya bidii yake hiyo ya kufanya kazi, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyekuwa akifanya kazi kwa muda mlefu kila siku mpaga mwishowe alipata mali nyingi, kwa sababu naye hujilawa asubuhi kwenda kujibidisha kufanya kazi kubwa kila siku, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu waliomuona walifahamu kwamba, “duniani kazi.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuvumilia kufanya kazi zao mpaka wapate mali za kuwasaidia vizuri maishani mwao, ili waweze kuziendeleza vizuri familia zao.

This saying looks at a man who lives with his parents in his house. He was named Kalyango who lived in the village of Mwatuju. He took his parents and lived with them in his house because when human beings grow old they become enable to depend on themselves. The old ones, in turn, rely on the help of their children because of their old age.

Therefore, the old man should leave his family and go to stay with his son who can help him, in his life. That is why the people said, “He has taken his elders.”

This saying is applied to the person who takes good care of his or her parents, throughout his or her life. Such man, provides his parents with food, clothing, and shelter because of the respect that he has for them. He takes good care of his parents until their death, because of the true love that he has for them, in his life.

This man is like Kalyango who took care of his parents by taking them to live with them in his house, because he also took good care of his parents until their death. That is why the people said of him that “He has taken his elders.”

This saying teaches people about having respect and gratitude for their parents by taking good care of them, so that they can receive Blessings of living well on earth, in their lives.

Akahayile kenako, kalolile munhu uyo agikalaga na bhabyaji bhakwe aha kaya yakwe. Olihoyi munhu umo uyo witanagwa kalyango uyo wikalaga mujiji ja Ng’watuju. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agabhasola abhabyaji bhakwe uyikala nabho kunguno akajile kaji munhu ulu ukula agabhizaga adidujije. Unkuji ng’wunuyo, agisanyaga gwambilijiwa na bhasumba kulwa nguno ya bhunamhala bhokwe.

Gashinaga lulu igelelilwe aileke ikaya yakwe na guja gujuzenga uko ali ng’wana uyo agang’wambilijaga. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayomba giki “obhasola abhanamhala bhakwe.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agabhalanhanaga chiza abhabyaji bhakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhinhaga jiliwa, jizwalo na numba ya gulala abhabyaji bhakwe bhenabho kunguno ya likujo lwakwe ukubhoyi. Uweyi agabhambilija chiza mpaga bhinga kuwelelo, kunguno ya bhutogwa bhokwe ukubhabyaji bhakwe bhenabho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu Kalyango uyo agabhasola abhabyaji bhakwe mpaga ha ng’wakwe, kunguno nuweyi agabhambilijaga chiza abhabyaji bhakwe, mpaga binga kuwelelo, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “obhasola abhanamhala bhakwe.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza ni kujo na bhulumbi ukubhabyaji bhabho bho gubhalab’ila chiza, kugiki bhadule kupandika mbango ja gwikala chiza, umuwelelo.

KISWAHILI: AMEWACHUKUA WAZEE WAKE.

Msemo huo, huangalia mtu anayeishi na wazazi wake nyumbani kwake. Alikuwepo mtu aliyeitwa Kalyango aliyekuwa akiishi kwenye kijiji cha Mwatuju. Mtu huyo, aliwachukua wazazi wake akawa anaishi nao nyumbani kwake kwa sababu kiubinadamu mtu akizeeke huwa hajiwezi. Mzee huyo, hutegemea kusaidiwa na watoto wake kwa sababu ya uzee wake huo.

Kumbe basi, inafaa mzee huyo aiache familia yake na kwenda kuishi kwa mwanae anayemsaidia, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu walisema kwamba, “amewachukua wazee wake.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwatunza vizuri wazazi wake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwapatia wazazi wake hao, chakula, nguo na nyumba ya kulala kwa sababu ya heshima aliyo nayo kwao. Yeye huwatunza vizuri wazazi wake hao mpaka kifo chao, kwa sababu ya upendo alionao kwao, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na Kalyango aliyewatunza wazazi wake kwa kuwachukua kuishi nao nyumbani kwake, kwa sababu naye huwatunza vizuri wazazi wake hadi kifo chao. Ndiyo maana watu walisema juu yake kwamba, “amewachukua wazee wake.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na heshima na shukrani kwa wazazi wao kwa kuwatunza vizuri, ili waweze kupata Baraka za kuishi vizuri, duniani.

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo ali ng’wib’i umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, atogilwe gunyembyanyembya jikolo ja b’iye bho nduhu ugwinhiwa na ng’winikili ojo. Uweyi agapandikaga makoye ga gwiduma na bhanhu abho agigalaga nabho kunguno ya wib’i bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo olina nkono mbupu uyo osolaga jinhu josejose bho wangu wangu, kunguno nu weyi agagutumilaga unkono gokwe bho ugwib’a ijikolo jabhiye, umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “wina nkono mbupu.”

KISWAHILI: ANA MKONO MWEPESI.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyekuwa na mkono mwepesi wa kuchukua vitu kwa haraka, kwa sababu naye hutumia mkono wake huo kwa kuiba vitu vya watu, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “ana nkono mwepesi.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha tabia ya kuwaibia wenzao vitu vyao, maishani mwao, ili waweze kuishi kwa amani na wenzao, katika maisha yao.

This saying looks at the lightness of someone’s hand. There was one man who lived in a certain village. But he had a light hand that could take anything very quickly from others. That is why people said to him that, “He has a light hand.”

This is compared to the person who is a thief in his life. Such person likes to take people’s things in secret without being given by their owners. He gets into a lot of trouble because of his wicked habit of stealing properties of people in his life.

This person, in effect, resembles the one who has a light hand to take things of people, because he also uses his hand to steal people’s things, in his life. That is why people say to him that “He has a light hand.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of giving up the habit of robbing others of their belongings, in their lives, so that they can live in peace with each other, in their families.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako, ilolile bhuzwaji bho malole bho ng’wa munhu nhebhe. Amalole genayo bhagagazwalaga abhanhu kumiso mu bhulingisilo bho heke bhuli ng’wene.

Abhangi bhagazwalaga amalole genayo kugiki bhinje soni ya gubhogoha abhanhu kunguno gagagabhisaga amiso gabho. Abhangi bhagagazwalaga amalole geneyo bho bhubheleji duhu. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “ozwalaga malole.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agalebhagwa walwa wandya guyomba mihayo ya sagala, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agayombaga mihayo ya gubhadukile abhanhu abho agikalaga nabho kunguno ya gubhiza adina soni iyo yinjiyagwa na walwa umumahoya gakwe. Uweyi agayibhipyaga ikaya yakwe yiniyo kunguno ya nhungwa jakwe ijabhubhi jinijo, umukikalile kakwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agazwalaga malole omala isoni ukubhanhu, kunguno nuweyi agalebhagwa walwa omala isoni mpaga oyomba mihayo ya bhubhi ukubhiye. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “ozwalaga malole.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga abhanhu higulya ya kuleka nhungwa ja gulewa walwa umukikalile kabho, kugiki bhadule gujilanhana chiza ikaya jabho, umubhulamu bhobho.

Wagalatia 5:16-26.

KISWAHILI: AMEVAA MIWANI.

Chanzo cha msemo huo, ni uvaaji wa miwani wa mtu fulani. Miwani hiyo, watu huivaa kwa malengo mbalimbali. Wengine huivaa miwani hiyo ili kuondoa aibu kwa watu wanaotaka kuwafikishia ujumbe fulani. Yeye huifaharibu familia yake hiyo, kwa sababu ya tabia yake hiyo mbaya, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyevaa miwani kwa lengo la kuondoa aibu ya kuonekana machoni mwake, kwa sababu naye hulewa mpaka anakosa aibu ya kuongea maneno mabaya katika familia yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “amevaa miwani.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha tabia ya kulewa pombe maishani mwao, ili waweze kuzilea vyema familia zao, katika maisha yao.

Wagalatia 5:16-26.

ENGLISH: HE HAS WON GLASSES.

The origin of the over head saying is the wearing of one’s glasses. People wear these glasses for various purposes. Some wear them to remove embarrassment from those who want to convey a message in front of people. But some wear those glasses for the sole purpose of making a showy display. That is why people say to such man, “He has won glasses.”

This saying is likened to a person who gets drunk and starts saying evil things in his life. This person, in turn, utters insults to people who live with him because of removing his shamefulness by drinking too much alcohol. He destroys his family, because of his evil behavior, in his life.

This man resembles the one who won glasses with the intention of removing his shamefulness before appearing in the eyes of people, because he also gets drunk until he lacks the shame of speaking wicked words in his family. That is why people say to him that, “He has won glasses.”

This saying teaches people to stop drinking too much alcohol in their lives, so that they can better raise their families, in their daily lives.

Aliyo lulu, umukaya yakwe yiniyo, jalihoyi ng’hung’uni, nhundwa, ngino na mbu. Ijilumi jinijo, jamanaga junhuma bhuli makanza unhunhu ng’wunuyo. Nose mpaga wandwa gugeha umili gokwe bho gukonda. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wila giki, “jigugumala mukaya.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agikalaga na miganikio gabhubhi, umu nholo yakwe. Amiganiko genayo gagang’wenhelejaga gubhawilaga mihayo ya bhubhi abhanhu abho agikalaga nabho aha kaya yakwe yiniyo. Agoyi gagaikenagulaga ikaya yakwe kunguno ya gung’heleja gwiduma na bhanhu bhakwe bhenabho mpaga bhampela aha kaya yakwe yiniyo.

Amiganiko agabhubhi genayo, gagikolaga nu tujilumi uto tonumaga umunhu uyo oli nakaya yakwe mpaga ukonda, kunguno nago gagaibalasanya ikayaya yakwe umunhu ng’wunuyo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “jigugumala mukaya.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kuleka gwikala na miganiko gabhabhi umu ng’holo jabho, kugiki bhadule gwikala bho mholele na bhanhu umukaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: WATAKUMALIZA NDANI YA NYUMBA.

Chanzo cha msemo huo, ni uwepo wa wadudu waliokuwa ndani ya nyumba ya mtu mmoja aliyeishi katika kijiji fulani. Alikuwepo mtu mmoja aliyekuwa na mji wake kwenye kijiji hicho. Lakini basi, ndani ya nyumba yake mtu huyo, walikuwepo kunguni, kupe, funza na mbu. Wadudu hao, walikuwa wakumuuma mtu huyo kila wakati. Mwishowe alipungua mwili wake kwa kukonda. Ndiyo maana watu walimwambia kwamba, “watakumaliza ndani ya nyumba.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hufikiria mawazo maovu, katika moyo wake. Mawazo hayo, humpelekea mtu huyo, kuwaambia maneno mabaya watu anaoishi nao kwenye familia yake. Mawazo hayo, huisambalatisha familia yake, kwa sababu ya kumsababisha kukosana na watu wake mpaka wanafikia hatua ya kumuacha peke yake kwenye familia yake hiyo.

Mawazo hayo maovu, hufananishwa na wale wadudu waliomuuma yule mtu aliyekuwa na familia mpaga mwishowe agakonda, kwa sababu nayo yaliisambalatisha familia yake, mtu aliyekuwa nayo mawazo hayo maovu. Ndiyo maana watu walimwambia kwamba, “watakumaliza ndani ya nyumba.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha kukaa na mawazo maovu ndani ya mioyo yao, ili waweze kuishi kwa amani na watu kwenye familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THEY WILL FINISH YOU INSIDE THE HOUSE.

The origin of the above saying is the presence of insects in the house of a man who lived in a certain village. Such man had his own family in the village. But then, inside his house, there were bedbugs, ticks, worms, and mosquitoes. Those insects were biting him all the time. Eventually he lost weight because of being bitten by them. That is why people told him that, “They will finish you inside the house.”

This saying is compared to the person who thinks evil thoughts, in his heart. These thoughts, in turn, lead such person to say evil things about the people who live with him in his family. These thoughts, in turn, shatter his family, causing him to quarrel with his people until they reach the point of leaving him alone in his family.

These evil thoughts are likened to the insects that bit the man who eventually lost his weight, because he also destroyed his family by thinking those evil thoughts. That is why people told him that, “they will finish you inside the house.”

This saying imparts in people an idea on how to stop living with evil thoughts in their hearts, so that they can live peacefully with others in their families in the daily lives.
