817. MAKOYE GAGAMANYICHAGA BHUMUNHU.

Amakoye jili jigemelo ja ng’wa munhu ijo jigolecha umo agiyumiligijaga, umukikalile kakwe. Ijigemelo jinijo jigolechaga matwajo gakwe umunhu ng’wunuyo ayo gagamanyichaga igiki alinshikanu, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “makoye gagamanyichaga bhumunhu.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agolechaga bhushikanu bho gwiyumilija ulu opandikaga mayange, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agolechaga wigulambija bhutale ubho bhugang’wambilija ugugamala wangu amakoye ayo alinago. Uweyi agadulaga uguginja amakoye gakwe genayo, nu gubhambilija abhiye abho bhali na mayange, kunguno ya wiyumilija bhokwe bhunubho, umukikalile kakwe.

Akahayile kenako, kagikolaga nu munhu uyo alina bhushikanu bho gwiyumilija gugamala wangu amakoye gakwe, kunguno nuweyi ali na wiyumilija bho gugamala wangu amakoye ayo alinago, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “makoye gagamanyichaga bhumunhu.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na wiyumilija bho gubhambilija abhanhu bhabho ugugamala wangu amakoye gabho, kugiki bhadule gubhulang’hana chiza ubhumunhu bhobho, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: SHIDA HUDHIHIRISHA UTU.

Shida ni jaribu la mwanadamu ambalo huueleza uvumilivu wake katika mahangaiko ya maisha. Jaribu hilo, huonesha matunda ya mtu huyo ambayo huonesha ukomavu alizo nao katika kuvumilia mahangaiko yake. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “shida hudhihirisha utu.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huonesha hali ya uvumilivu mkubwa katika kuyatatua matatizo yake, maishani mwake. Mtu huyo, hujibidisha kutafuta njia za kuyamaliza matatizo yake kwa uvumilivu mkubwa. Yeye huweza kuyaondoa au kuyamaliza mapema matatizo yanayomkumba, na kuwasaidia pia wenzake walioko kwenye matatizo ili waweze kuondokana nayo, kwa sababu ya uvumilivu mkubwa alio nao, maishani mwake.

Msemo huo, hufanana na mtu yule aliye na uvumilivu wa kuyatatua matatizo yake mapema, kwa sababu naye, anao uvumilivu huo, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “shida hudhihirisha utu.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na uvumilivu wa kuwasaidia katika kuyamaliza mapema matatizo yao, ili waweze kuulinda vizuri utu wao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: PROBLEMS MAKE ONE’S CHARACTER KNOWN.

Adversity is a human trial that describes his/her perseverance in anxieties of life. Such test, in turn, reflects person’s fruits, which also reflects his maturity in enduring his anxieties. That is why people say that, “problems make one’s character known.”

This saying is compared to a man who shows great patience in solving his problems in life. This person strives to find ways for solving his problems with great patience. He manages eradicate them that beset him. He can help those who are struggling to solve their problems, because of his great patience in eradicating them.

This man is similar to the person who has patience in solving his problems, because he, too, has that patience in his life. That is why people say to him that, “problems make one’s character known.”

The saying teaches people on how to be patient enough to help others solve their problems early, so that they can better protect their personality in their societies.

816. DIMAGA LUSHU ULYE NYAMA.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako, ihoyelile munhu uyo agayelaga na lushu lokwe, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agalutumamilaga ulushu lwokwe nululo, bho guchembela ginhu iyo alajibhone uko alisiminzila. Uweyi ulu ushiga aho jiliho nyama adukoya uguichemba inyama yiniyo na guilya, kunguno alinajo ijitumamilo jakwe.

Aliyo lulu, umunhu uyo adina lushu, ulu usanga nyama aguduma ugupandika nulu kanofu, ulu adalombile gubhiye, kunguno adayelaga higiki, bho gwikala na jitumamilo jakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “dimaga lushu ulye nyama.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agikalaga higiki bho gujiyelana ijitumamilo jakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikalaga wibhegelejije chiza ijinabhutumami bho milimo yakwe ni jinagubhambilija abho bhali makoye, kunguno ya kujikalana makanza gose ijitumamilo jakwe.  Uweyi agapandikaga matwajo mingi umubhutumami bho milimo yakwe, kunguno ya gwikala higiki bho gujikalana chiza ijitumamilo jakwe jinijo.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agikalaga higiki bho guyela na lushu lokwe, kunguno nuweyi agikalaga higiki bho gujikalana chiza ijitumamilo jakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Uweyi agabhalangaga abhanhu bhakwe nzila ja gwikala higiki bho gujikalana chiza ijitumamilo jabho. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhanhu giki, “dimaga lushu ulye nyama.”

KISWAHILI: SHIKA KISU ULE NYAMA.

Chanzo cha msemo huo, chamongelea mtu ambaye hutembea na kisu chake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hukitumia kisu chake hicho, kwa kukatia kitu chochote anacho kiona kule atembeleako. Yeye akikuta nyama hatahangaika kuikata na kuila kwa sababu anacho kitendea kazi chake.

Lakini basi, mtu yule ambaye hana kisu akituta nyama atashindwa kupata hata mnofu mdogo, kwa sababu ya kutokujiweka tayari, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo  maana watu humwambia kwamba, “shika kisu ule nyama.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwa amejiweka tayari kwa kutembea akiwa na kitendea kazi chake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwa amejiandaa katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yake, yakiwemo yale ya kuwasaidia watu walioko kwenye matatizo, kwa sababu ya kuwa nacho muda wote kitendea kazi chake hicho. Yeye hupata mafanikio mengi katika utendaji wake wa kazi kwa sababu ya kujiweka tayari kwa kutendea akiwa na kitendea kazi chake hicho.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyekuwa tayari kwa kutembea akiwa na kisu chake kokote alikoenda, kwa sababu naye huwa yuko tayari kwa kutembea akiwa na kitendea kazi chake hicho, katika maisha yake. Yeye huwafundisha pia watu wake namna ya kuwa na vitendea kazi vyao popote wanapoenda. Ndiyo maana huwaambia watu kwamba, “shika kisu ule nyama.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kujiweka tayari muda wote kwa kutembea wakiwa na vitendea kazi vyao, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, maishani mwao.

 ENGLISH: GET HOLD OF A KNIFE AND EAT MEAT.

The cradle of the above saying speaks of a man who walks with a knife in life. This man was using his knife to cut anything which he saw on his way. If he found meat, he would not bother to cut it and eat because he had a tool cutting it.

But then, the man who does not have a knife will not be able to get even a little meat, because of his unpreparedness in his life. That is why people say to him that, “get hold of a knife and eat meat.”

This saying is compared to a person who is prepared enough to walk with a tool in life. This person carries out his or her responsibilities, including helping those who are in need, because of being prepared. He/she achieves great success in daily works because of his/her willingness to use his/her tool whenever it is needed.

This person is like the one who walked with his knife wherever he went, because he walks with his tool in his life. He also teaches his people on how to be with their tools wherever they go. That is why he tells them that “get hold of a knife and eat meat.”

This saying teaches people on how to be prepared all the time by walking with their tools, in their lives, so that they can have more success in their societies.

Ubhubhing’holo jili jito ja gung’wima ginhu umunhu uyo alina makoye. Umunhu uyo alina makoye ng’winuyo, adulile nulu gunanuka bho gucha na nzala aliyo ijiliwa jilihoyi, kunguno ya wiming’holo bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “bhubhing’holo bhugananulaga abhanhu.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo alina ng’holo ya bhubhi, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agalemaga ugubhinha ijiliwa ijo alinajo, abhanhu abho bhalina makoye, kunguno ya wiming’holo bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agabhalekaga bho nduhu ugubhambilija abho bhali na makoye bhenabho, mpaka nose bhananuka aliyo isabho alinajo, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo aliming’holo, kunguno nuweyi alina ng’holo ya bhubhi, iyo idabhabhonelaga isungu abhiye abho bhali na makoye, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “bhubhing’holo bhugananulaga abhanhu.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lolanga bhanhu higulya ya gulekana na ng’holo ya wiming’holo, bho gubhagunana abhichabho abho bhali na makoye, umukikalile kabho, kugiki bhadule gubhulang’hana chiza ubhupanga bho bhanhu bhabho bhenabho.

KISWAHILI: UCHOYO HUUA WATU.

Uchoyo ni kitendo cha kumunyima kitu mtu aliyekumbwa na matatizo. Mtu huyo, mwenye matatizo, huweza hata kupoteza maisha kwa kukosa chakula, pamoja na chakula hicho kuwepo, kwa sababu ya uchoyo huo. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “uchoyo huua watu.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana roho mbaya, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hukataa kuwasaidia wenzake walioko kwenye matatizo ya kukosa chakula hata kama ancho chakula hicho, kwa sababu ya uchoyo wake huo. Yeye huwaacha bila kuwasaidia watu hao, ambao mwishowe huwa wanafikia hatua ya kupoteza maisha, wakati mali anazo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule ambaye ni mchoyo aliyekataa kuwasaidia wenye shida, kwa sababu naye ana roho mbaya isiyowaonea huruma wenzake hao walioko kwenye matatizo mbalimbali, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “uchoyo huua watu.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuachana na roho ya uchoyo, kwa kuwasaidiana wenzao waliokumbwa na matatizo, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuyaokoa na kuyalinda maisha ya wenzao hao.

ENGLISH: GREED KILLS PEOPLE.

Covetousness is an act of denying supporting someone who has problems. This person who has problems may even lose life because of lacking food and other basic needs, despite the food being present, just because of that greed. That is why people say that “greed kills people.”

This saying is likened to a person who has an unkind spirit in life. This person refuses to help his/her colleagues who are suffering from malnutrition, even though he/she has plenty of food because of his/her greed. He/she leaves them without helping those people, who eventually reach the point of losing their lives, while possessions are present in the house.

This person is like the greedy person who refuses to help the needy, because he/she has a bad spirit that does not show compassion to those who are great need of help. That is why people say that “greed kills people.”

This proverb imparts in people an idea of stopping a spirit of greed, by helping each other in trouble, in their lives, so that they can save and protect the lives of their family members.

812. NATUNG’WANA NA SUNGWA JILIFUMA GUJUSUMA NAGULILA NYAMA.

Isungwa jilijisumva ijo jigatumamaga milimo bho gwiyambilija kihamo. Ijoyi jigabhuchaga nigo bhuli yene guti giki jifumilile gujusumo jililwa. Umunhu uyo utung’wana ni sungwa jinijo jibhuchije milimo, agwisagilwa gupandika mbango ja gulya jiliwa ja wiza guti nyama, ukoajile. Hunagwene agayombaga giki, “natung’wana na sungwa jilifuma gujusuma nagulila nyama.”

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhizaga atogilwe gwiyambilija na bhiye kunguno ya jigongo jakwe ija gubhagunana abho bhali na makoye. Uweyi agapandikaga matwajo mingi umuwikaji bhokwe kunguno ya mbango ijo alinajo jinijo.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga ni sungwa ijo jigiyambilijaga kihamo uguitumama imilimo, kunguno nuweyi, agapandikaga mbango ja matwajo mingi, bho gutumama milimo kihayo na bhiye, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhanhu giki, “natung’wana na sungwa jilifuma gujusuma nagulila nyama.”

Sungusungu ni viumbe ambavyo hufanya kazi kwa kusaidiana pamoja. Kila mmoja wao hubeba mzigo wake, unaonesha kama wanatoka kuhemea chakula. Mtu ambaye atakutana na sungusungu hao waliobeba mizigo, atatumaini kupata Baraka za kula chakula kizuri, kama vile nyama, kule anakoelekea. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watu kwamba, “nimekutana na sungusungu wanaotoka kuhemea nitatakula nyama.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hupata baraka kwa kufanya kazi pamoja na wenzake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hupenda kusaidiana na wenzake hao kwa sababu ya huruma yake ya kuwasaidia wale walioko kwenye matatizo. Yeye hupata mafanikio mengi maishani mwake kwa sababu ya Baraka hizo alizonazo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na sungusungu wale walioshirikiana katika kufanya kazi, kwa sababu naye hupata Baraka za mafanikio mengi, kwa kuyatekeleza majukumu yake akishirikiana na wenzake, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watu kwamba, “nimekutana na sungusungu wanaotoka kuhemea nitatakula nyama.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kushirikiana pamoja na wenzao wanapoyatekeleza majukumu yao, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I SAW ANTS THAT WERE COMING FROM SEARCHING FOR FOOD, I WILL EAT MEAT.

Black Ants are creatures which work together. Each one of them carries its own load, showing that they have found food from where they went. The person who meets them carrying their luggage rags will hope to enjoy blessings of receaving good food, such as meat, wherever he/she goes. That is why he/she tells people that, “I saw ants that were coming from searching for food, I will eat meat.”

This saying is applied to a person who receives blessings of working well with others in life. He/she person likes to help his/her colleagues because of having true love to those who in need. He/she finds great success in life because of receiving blessings from God.

This person is like the black ants which worked together, because he also receives blessings of many successes, by fulfilling his/her responsibilities in collaboration with others in life. That is why he/she tells people that, “I saw ants that were coming from searching for food, I will eat meat.”

This saying teaches people on how to kindly cooperate with their family members as they fulfill their daily responsibilities in lives, so that they can achieve more success, in their societies.

Abho ong’wila abhuyomba ubhung’wana, habhutaongi bho bhanhu bhenabho, agamanyika igiki ayombaga bhulomolomo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’witana untale o chalo jinijo giki, “igolola bhasigani.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agabhatongelaga abhanhu bho gufuada bhung’hana, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agitaga bhukengeji bho mihayo iyo agiyigwaga, kugiki abhudebhe ubhung’hana bhoyo. Uweyi agabhotogelaga chiza abhanhu bhakwe, kunguno ya gubhutogwa na guwikalana ubhung’hana bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu ntongeji uo chalo uyo agabhudebha ubhung’hana bho gubhalumanya abhanhu bhakwe, kunguno nu weyi agabhatongelaga chiza abhanhu bho gubhufuada ubhung’hana bhunubho, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’witanaga giki, “igolola bhasigani.”

KISWAHILI: KINYOSHA WASENGENYAJI.

Alikuwepo mtu mmoja ambaye alipenda kuwasengenya wenzake kwa kusema uongo. Siku moja alisema maneno ya uongo kwa kiongozi wa kijiji chao. Kiongozi huyo, alimwita yule mtu pamoja na wale aliowasengenya kwa kusema uongo ili aufahamu ukweli wake.

Alipomwambia auseme ukweli mbele ya wale watu aliowasema vibaya, yule mtu alibainika kwamba, ni muongo. Ndiyo maana watu walimuita yule kiongozi kwamba ni “kinyosha wasengenyaji.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwaongoza watu kwa kuufuata ukweli, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huyafanyia utafiti maneno yale anayoyasikia ili aweze kuufahamu ukweli wake. Yeye hufanikiwa kuwaongoza vizuri watu wake, kwa sababu ya kuupenda ukweli huo na kuuishi, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule kiongozi wa kijiji aliyeufahamu ukweli kwa kuwaweka pamoja watu wake, kwa sababu naye huwaongoza watu wake kwa kuufuata vizuri ukweli huo, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwita kwamba ni “kinyosha wasengenyaji.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwaongoza wenzao kwa kuufuata vizuri ukweli, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuishi kwa amani na wenzao hao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THE GOSSIPERS’ DISCIPLINER.

There was a man who liked to gossip about his fellows. One day he uttered false words to the leader of their village. The leader called the man and those who had slandered him to tell him the truth.

After being asked to do so, in front of the people he became ashamed, then the leader realized that he was a liar. That is why the people called such leader, “the gossipers’ discipliner.”

This saying is compared to the person who guides people by following the truth in his/her area. Such person researches the words which he/she hears them for understanding the truth. This person succeeds in directing people enough to know the truth in their lives, because of having true love to them.

This person is like the village leader who knew the truth by bringing his people together, because he also leads his people by following the truth well, in their daily lives. That is why people refer to him/her as “the gossipers’ discipliner.”

This saying instills in people an idea on how to guide their people by following the truth in their lives, so that they can live in peace with their family members in daily lives.
