185. YENIYO IGALEKAGWA HAHO WIB’ILINGILO.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako ilolile bhanhu abho b’ib’ilingaga. Abhanhu bhenabho ulu b’ib’ilingaga bhagaholelaga mihayo mingi noi. Iyingi igab’izaga mihayo ya solobho, aliyo iyingi idina solobho. Ahowib’ilingilo henaho, igahoyelegwa mihayo yoseyose. Gashinaga iliho mihayo imo idiyaguja umunhu aguyiyombaga sagala, kunguno itiya wiza.

Imihayo yiniyo iliyaguleka haho wib’ilingilo duhu, kunguno idinayo isolobho umuwikaji bho bhanhu. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, ‘yeniyo igalekagwa haho wib’ilingilo. Yigelelilwe abhanhu bhasole imihayo iyo ilina solobho duhu umuwikaji b’ob’o.

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo adeb’ile ugusolanya chiza imihayo iyo idulile gub’iza na solobho ahakaya yakwe, nulu ukubhanhu bhakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo alina nhungwa ja guiholela imihayo iyo iliyasolobho ulu olumanaga na bhiye. Agilangaga imihayo iya solobho kwingila kub’iye, na guyileka haho mahoyelo iyo iliyasagara.

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya guikomanya imihayo iyo iliya solobho kwingila hamahoya gosegose, na kuileka haho mahoya genayo iya sagara. Imihayo iya solobho igambilijaga bhanhu umugujibheja chiza ikaya ni jumuiya jabho.

Ijinagongeja, akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kuleka uguiyomba imihayo ya sagara, umumahoya gabho, kunguno iyiniyo igakenagulaga kaya na jumuiya ja bhanhu. Yigelelilwe abhanhu b’ab’ize na nhungwa ja guiholela imihayo iyo iliya solobho ukabhanhu ni kaya jabho.

Kuyiniyo, yigelelilwe abhanhu bhachagule chiza imihayo iya solobho umumahoya gabho. Imihayo yiniyo, idulile gubhambilija umugujenghela upandiki bho sabho ikaya ni jumuiya jabho.

KISWAHILI: HAYO HUACHWA HAPO KWENYE MKUSANYIKO

Chanzo cha msemo huo chaangalia watu waliokusanyika mahali fulani. Watu hao huongea maneno mengi mno. Mengine huwa yana faida katika maendeleo ya jamii, lakini mengine niya hovyo.

Kwa maana hiyo, walipokusanyikia watu huongelewa maneno yoyote. Kumbe yapo yaliyo mazuri, ambayo yana faida kwa wanajamii, lakini mengine hayana faida. Hayo ni maneno ya hovyo.

Maneno hayo yaliyo ya hovyo huachwa hapo kwenye mkusanyiko, kwa sababu hayana faida maishani mwa watu. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, ‘hayo huachwa hapo kwenye mkusanyiko.’ Yafaa watu wachukue yale yenye faida na kuyaacha hapo yale yasiyo na faida, maishani mwao.

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu afahamuye kuchambua na kuyafanyia kazi maneno yale yawezayo kuwa na faida kwenye familia yake, au kwenye jumuiya yake. Mtu huyo ana tabia ya kuzungumza maneno yenye faida katika maongezi yake na wenzake. Hujifunza kutokana na maneno yenye faida wasemayo wenzake, katika maongezi yao. Mtu huyo pia huyaacha hapo yale yasiyo na faida maishani mwake.

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuchambua maneno yenye faida kutoka kwenye maongezi yoyote na wenzao, na kuyaacha yale yaliyo ya hovyo. Maneno yenye faida husaidia watu katika kuziendeleza familia na jumuiya zao.

Zaidi hayo, msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha kuongea maneno ya hovyo katika maongezi yao, kwa sababu maneno hayo husambalatisha familia na jumuiya za watu. Yafaa watu wajijengee tabia ya kuongea maneno yenye faida maishani mwao na katika familia zao.

Kwa hiyo, watu watakiwa kuchagua vizuri maneno yenye faida katika maongezi yao. Hayo ndiyo maneno yawezayo kuwasaidia katika kuleta maendeleo kwenye familia na jumuiya zao.

ENGLISH: THOSE ARE LEFT THERE AT THE GATHERING.

The above saying relates to how people in a gathering behave. Many things are said by people whenever they are gathered at a place, some of which can be beneficial to society, yet others which are of no value at all.congress

People say, ‘Those are left at the gathering’ to imply that those meaningless issues (or words) shared at the gathering need to remain there because they are of no value to people’s lives. Only aspects considered worthwhile in life should be picked out and harnessed.

Such saying is likened to a person who has the capacity to analyse words or issues before applying them, based on how beneficial they are to his/her family or community. Such a person weighs his/her words in conversations, carefully choosing those that are believed to add value in life, and ignoring worthless ones.

People use the above saying to learn about being analytical in their interaction with their peers, and therefore being able to exploit only valuable aspects that can help develop their families and communities.

Additionally, the aphorism is used to discourage empty rhetoric because it destroys society. People ought to develop a habit of saying things that can benefit and build their lives and their families.

They should therefore choose the most profitable words in their conversations. Those are the words that can help them to bring development to their families and communities.

KUTEMBEA KWAKE NDIVYO KUCHEZA KWAKE – KINYONGA.

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho chaangalia kiumbe kinachoitwa Kinyonga. Kinyonga ni mdudu ambaye hutembea kwa kusitasita, kama anacheza kumbe ndivyo asafirivyo. Katika kuenenda kwake hivyo, yeye hufaulu kufika kule aendeko. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, kutembea kwakwe kinyonga ndivyo kucheza kwake.

Kitendawili hicho hulinganishwa kwa mtu ambaye hufanya kazi zake kwa uangalifu na umakini mkubwa. Mtu huyo huweza kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi zake. Kumbe yafaa watu wawe na uangalifu wa kutosha kuzitekeleza kazi zao kama itakiwavyo. Kwa kufanya hivyo, wataweza kupata maendeleo mengi katika familia na jumuiya zao.

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na uangalifu wa kuwawezesha kuzitekeleza vizuri shughuli na kazi zao zote. Uangalifu huo utawaletea mafanikio mengi yawezayo kuwasaidia katika kuzijenga familia na jumuiya zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME…

IT WALKS AS IT PLAYS – CHAMELEON

The overhead riddle focuses on the peculiar locomotion of a cameleon, a creature that walks as if it is dancing. Indeed, it reaches its destination successfully, by use of that style.

The riddle is comparable to a person who does his/her work keenly and with the seriousness it deserves. The end result here would be work well done. It is not only important but also appropriate for people to carry out their duties with care. By doing so, their families and communities are bound to benefit more in terms of development and progress.

That paradox enlightens people about the need for diligence in undertaking their obligations and tasks. Taking caution brings about many positive achievements that can help build their families as well as their communities.

In addition, the riddle instills in people the important quality of being focused in the execution of their roles and responsibilities. Such keenness and perceptiveness can enable them to effectively harness resources that can be used to uplift their lives, their families and their communities.

Imbuki ya kalagu yiniyo ililola ng’wana uyo alimunda, nulu uyo atali ugubyalwa. Ung’wana ng’wunuyo adiko nulu gutulwa mbula, kunguyo uwei agikalaga wib’isile mugati ya ng’wa nina. Kuyiniyo lulu, nulu igandya gutula mbula, agutulwa nu nina duhu.  Ung’wana ng’wunuyo, huyo ali o mujuligu, uyo adatulagwa mbula.

Ikalagu yiniyo, igalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agikalaga ashegijiwe na munhu ungi umuwikaji bhokwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhizaga alinawe nkhingi okwe. Ung’winuyo huyo gaganshigilaga amakoye gosegose. Gashinaga lulu, unkhingi okwe, ukuliweli, aliguti nina ong’wana uyo atali munda.

Ikalagu yiniyo, yalanga bhanhu higulya ya kubhalanhana chiza abho bhali hasilili yab’o. Abhanhu bhenabho bhali guti bhabyaji umo igelelelilwe bhabhalanhane chiza abhana bhabho, gitu nkima uyo alibhudito umo aganhanghanilaga ung’wana okwe uyo atali munda yakwe. Abhanebho lulu, ha bhana abha mujulugu, abho bhadatulagwa mbula.

Ijinagongela, ikalagu yiniyo yabhalanga abhabyaji higulya ya gubhambilija chiza abhana bhabho, abho bhatali ugutola, nulu ugutolwa, kunguno abhenabho bhatali mujulugu. Yigelelilwe bhab’agunane bho gub’inha bhulangwa bho wiza ubho gudula ugub’inja umumakoye gosegose.

Kuyiniyo, yigelelilwe abhanhu bhikale muli Mulungu uyo alijulugu ja kubhalanghana bhadizutulwa mbula. Imbula yiniyo, yadula gulinganijiwa na shetani. Abho abhazunya gwikala mukati ya ng’wa Yesu, agub’alanghana bho gwilanga muliwei. UYesu agub’inja umubhusese bho ng’wa shetani.

KISWAHILI: KTENDAWILI – TEGA

MTOTO ALIYE PANGONI HANYESHEWI MVUA- MTOTO ALIYEKO TUMBONI.

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho chaangalia mtoto ambaye bado yumo ndani ya tumbo la mama yake. Mtoto huyo ni yule ambaye bado hajazaliwa. Kwa hiyo, mtoto huyo hawezi kunyeshewe mvua, kwa sababu yeye huwa amejificha tumboni mwa mama yake. Atakayenyeshewa na mvua hiyo, ni mama yake, ambaye kwake, mama huyo ni kama pango lake alimojificha, ili asipatwe na matatizo yoyote. Kwa maana hiyo, mtoto huyo hawezi kunyeshewa mvua kwa sababu yumo pangoni mwa mama yake.

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu ambaye huwa amekingwa na mtu mwingine maishani mwake. Mtu huyo, ni yule ambaye yuko chini ya mtu mwingine anayemtegemea kumtunza katika kujipatia mahitaji yake, yakiwemo yale ya kupata: chakula, mavazi na malazi yake.

Matatizo mbalimbali huwa yanamfikia yule aliye juu yake, hayamfikii yule aliyeko chini. Yule aliyeko chini hubaki salama, kwa sababu ya yeye kukingwa na yule aliyeko juu yake. Ndiyo kusema, mtoto aliyeko pangoni hanyeshewi mvua. Huyo ndiye mtoto aliyeko tumboni.

Kitendawili hicho hufundisha watu juu ya kuwalinda vizuri wale waliyoko chini yao, wakiwemo watoto wao, wanafunzi wao, wananchi wao, na kadhalika. Watu hayo, ni pamoja na wazazi ambao hutakiwa kuwalinda watoto wao ili wasipatwe na matatizo. Walimu pia hutakiwa kuwalinda kwa kuwafundisha vizuri wanafunzi wao, ili wasipatwe na matatizo ya kushindwa mitihani yao. Hao ni sawa na mapango yawakingayo watoto hao kunyeshewa mvua.

Zaidi ya hayo, kitendawili hicho, huwafundisha wazazi juu ya kuendelea kuwasaidia watoto wao ambao hawajafikia umri wa kuoa au kuolewa,  kwa kuwapatia malezi mema yawazeyo kuwakinga na matatizo mbali mbali maishani mwao.

Kwa hiyo, yafaa watu wakae ndani ya Muumba wao ambaye ni Mungu ili wasije wakanyeshewa mvua. Mvua hiyo huweza kufananishwa na shetani. Ndiyo maana, Yesu huwaita watu wamwendee yeye, ili awapumuzishe, kutoka kwenye matatizo yatokanayo na wao kubaki kwenye utumwa wa shetani. Yesu huwaondoa utumwani mwa shetani, wale wamwaminiyo, na kukaa ndani yake. Na sisi twaitwa kwenda kukaa  ndani ya Yesu Kristo, ili tusihangaike maishani.

A CHILD WHO IS BURROWED IN THE CAVE DOES NOT GET RAINED ON – A CHILD IN THE MOTHER’S WOMB

The above riddle is about a baby who is still in the mother’s womb. In the event of rain, the baby cannot be reached by the rain because it is hidden in the safety of the mother’s womb. The mother, who is like a cave, gets rained on but shields the baby from any such stress.woman-pregnant

This puzzle is likened to a situation where someone is given support and protection by someone else in his/her life. The dependant person rides on the good will of his/her benefactor to secure his/her own needs, including food, clothing and shelter.

By virtue of taking responsibility for other people’s welfare, the person encounters various challenges. Meanwhile, the one who draws protection from him/her remains secure, just like the baby who is burrowed in the comfort of the cave that is its mother’s womb.

Such riddle teaches people about the importance of offering protection to those under their care, including their children, students, citizens, among others. For instance, parents are supposed to protect their children from harm; teachers are required to protect their students by imparting in them the necessary knowledge and skills to enable them excel in their examinations. Such people are like caves that protect the children from the rain.pregnant-beauty

In addition, the riddle tends to encourage parents to consistently care for and support their children throughout their youthful years. This would help them keep problems at bay.

Therefore, it is necessary for people to dwell in God, their Creator, so that they do not get wet from rain. The rain can be compared to the devil. That is why Jesus calls people to come to Him, so that He can give them liberation from the bondage of the devil. Jesus removes the bondage of Satan from those who believe and abide in Him. And we are called to dwell in Jesus Christ, so that we do not worry about life.

Aliyo lulu, ingogo yiniyo yajaga gwagwagwa gujubebena, nulu gujulya ndili ya mhuli, iyo ili ndimu noi na hangi ilinhale gete. Iki ingoso yiniyo bhuligwa ikalaga igujaga yagabebena, nose igimala yose ndili yiniyo kihamo nubhudimu, nu bhutale bhoyo bhunubho.

Ulusulo lunulo lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agatumamaga nimo ntale na ndimu bho gumana uja bhuli lushigu ogagutumama. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agadulaga ugugumala unimo gokwe gunuyo, kimamo na bhutale bhogo, kunguno ya gumana uja ogagutumama bhuli lushigu.

Gashinaga yigelelilwe umunhu agudilile chiza unimo gokwe bhogumana uja bhuli lushugu ogagutumama, nose agugumala duhu, ahashigu ijahabhutongi, mumo gugakulila, nulu mumo gugadamila unimo gunuyo.

Ulusumo lunulo lolanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na bhukamu bho guyuja gujuitumama chiza imilimo yabho bhuli lushuku. Ubhukamu bhunubho bhugubhambilija chiza uguimala pye iyose imilimo yabho, na gupandika matwajo mingi ayogadulile gujibheja chiza ikaya ni jumuiya jabho.

Ijinagonja, ulusumo lunulo lolanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na wiyumilija bhoguitumama chiza imilimo yabho gosegose, iyo ilimitale guti gulimila ngese ingitu nulu inhale gete. Uwiyumilija bhunubho bhugubhambilija uguitumama bhuli lushigu mpaga bhuimala imilimo yabho yiniyo.

KISWAHILI: TAFUNA TAFUNA KILAKUKICHA  KILA SIKU, PANYA ALIMAZA NGOZI YA TEMBO.

Chanzo cha methali hiyo chaangalia Panya. Panya ni kiumbe kidogo kabisa. Lakini basi, Panya huyo alikuwa akienda kila siku kutafuna au kula ngozi ya Tembo ambayo ni ngumu sana, tena ni kubwa kabisa. Kwa vile panya huyo alikuwa akienda kila siku kuitafuna au kuila, mwishowe, aliimalima ngozi hiyo, pamoja na ugumu pia ukubwa wake huo.

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu ambaye hufanya kazi kubwa na ngumu kwa kuendelea kwenda kuifanya kila siku. Mtu huyo huweza kufaulu kuimaliza kazi hiyo yote, pamoja na ukubwa au ugumu wa kazi hiyo, kwa sabahu ya kuendelea kwake kwenda kuifanya kila siku.

Kumbe yafaa mtu aijali kazi yake kwa kwenda kuifanya kila siku, mwishowe ataimaliza tu katika siku za mbeleni, hata kama kazi hiyo itakuwa kubwa au ngumu kiasi gani.

Methali hiyo yafundisha watu juu ya kuwa na bidii ya kwenda kufanya kazi kila siku. Bidii hiyo itawasaidia katika kuzimaliza kazi zao na kupata mavuno mengi yawezayo kutumika katika kuziletea maendeleo familia na jumuiya zao.

Zaidi ya hayo, methali hiyo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na uvumilivu  katika kuyatimiza majukumu yao, yakiwemo yale ya kufanya kazi ngumu za kupalilia palizi zenye nyasi kubwa au zile zilizoshonana kabisa. Uvumilivu huo utawasaidia katika kuzifanya kazi hizo kila siku mpaka watazimaliza.

ENGLISH: NIBBLE NIBBLE DAY IN DAY OUT, THE RAT ATE UP THE WHOLE ELEPHANT’S HIDE

The above proverb relates to one of the activities of a mouse, which is a very tiny creature. The proverb states that when the rat chews repeatedly on the elephant hide, which is quite big and very hard, it eventually finishes it off. And that is in spite of the scoundrel’s small size. It is the rat’s consistency – of biting away and eating the hide day in day out – that pays off.elephant skin

The proverb is likened to someone who does great and difficult work through every day effort. Such a person succeeds in completing the task, despite its difficulty or magnitude, because of his/her continuous attempts at it.

It is fundamental for a person to care about his/her work by doing it consistently, for he/she is bound to complete it eventually, be it overwhelming or difficult in nature.

The adage teaches people on how to work hard every day. That is because such zeal will enable them complete their work and obtain bounty harvest for the benefit of their families and communities.

In addition, the truism imparts in people the virtue of patience in carrying out their responsibilities, which may include the difficult exercise of weeding tough grassy areas. Such patience will help them in performing those tasks until they complete them.

Chanzo cha methali hiyo chaangalia nyama za ndani kama vile: maini, bandama, moyo na figo. Nyama hizo huwa hazibanikwi kwa sababu huharibika mapema. Pia ni laini mno kuzikata kwa mstali utakiwao katika kuzibanika. Huwa zinaliwa mapema baada ya mnyama kuchinjwa.

Methali hiyo hulinganishwa kwa mtu ambaye huwahi kuzifanya kazi zake na kuzimaliza ndani ya wakati unaotakiwa kufanyika kwake. Mtu huyo huwa na ufahamu juu ya kuzifanyia kazi pia mali zake au vitu vyake mapema kabla havijaharibika. Yafaa watu wazifanye kazi zao mapema ili waweze kuzimaliza mapema itakiwavyo.

Zaidi ya hayo, yafaa kila mtu afahamu muda wa kuvitumia vizuri vitu vyake na avitumie kabla hazijaharibika, kwa sababu kila kitu kina muda wake maalumu wa kutumika.

Methali hiyo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwahi kuzifanya kazi zao vizuri ili ziweze kuwapatia mahitaji yao ya kutosha yakiwemo yale ya: kupata chakula, nguo na malazi.

Yafaa watu waendane na muda unaotakiwa katika kuifanya kazi fulani, kama vile kuwahi kulima kabla majani hayajaanza kuota. Lakini mtu akichelewa kufanya hivyo, kazi itakuwa ngumu kiasi cha kumpatia shida mkulima huyo wakati aanzapo kulima.

Zaidi ya hayo, methali hiyo hufundisha watu juu ya kufahamu kuzifanyia kazi vizuri mali zao walizozipata kabla ya muda wake wa kutumika kupita. Yafaa kuvifanyia kazi vitu hivyo kabla hazijaanza kuoza.

ENGLISH: INNER MEAT IS NEVER DRIED

The overhead proverb relates to the meat that is constituted by the inner parts of an animal, such as liver, heart and kidneys. Those meats are usually not dried because they go bad fast. They are also too tender to allow for effective preparation to dry. They get rotten almost soon after the animal is slaughtered.

The proverb is likened to a time-conscious person who is able to accomplish his/her duties within set timelines. Such a person possesses the capacity to determine the stock of his/her assets and is able to tell their expiry or use-by date. People need to discharge their duties in good time in order to complete them early enough.

In addition, it is good for everyone to understand how to utilize their property well before they get damaged. This is because everything has its usability period.

Such proverb teaches people on the importance of working diligently so that they can be self-sufficient in terms of basic needs like food, shelter and clothing.

It is imperative for people to move according to proper time schedules in undertaking their duties, for instance cultivation before germination. In case of delay, the farmer finds it rough having to deal with weeds.

Furthermore, the proverb instills in people the value of good work ethics – like how to exploit their assets before they are time-barred. Such assets ought to be exploited before they start to rot.
