807. NG’WILIGULIGU ALINA MIHAYO MINGI.

Akahayile kenako, kingilile kuli munhu uyo aling’wiliguligu umukigelele kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, alina mili uyo gwiligile kunguno ya gubyalwa chene.  Uweyi agikalaga uyomba mihayo mingi iyo igabayanjaga abhiye kunguno ya gulomba wambilijiwa, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “ng’wiliguligu alina mihayo mingi.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo alina nhungwa ja bhubhi, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agitaga miito ga bhubhi ayo gagabhayanjaga abhiye, kunguno ya nhungwa jakwe ija bhubhi jinijo, umukikalile kakwe. Uweyi agadumaga uguyilela chiza ikaya yakwe kunguno ya kikalile kakwe akabhubhi kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nu ng’wiliguligu uo mihayo mingi, kunguno nuweyi, alina nhungwa ja bhubhi ijo jigabhayanjaga abhanhu bhakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “ng’wiliguligu alina mihayo mingi.”

KISWAHILI: ALIYEPINDAPINDA ANA MANENO MENGI.

Msemo huo, ulitokea kwa mtu aliyepindapinda katika muonekano wake. Mtu huyo, ana mwili uliopindika kwa sababu ya kuzaliwa kwake akiwa na ulemavu huo. Yeye huwa anaongea maneno mengi ambayo huwasumbua wenzake kwa sababu ya kuomba masaada kwao. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “aliyepindapinda ana maneno mengi.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana tabia mbaya, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hutenda matendo maovu ambayo huwahangaisha wenzake, kwa sababu ya tabia yake hiyo mbaya, katika maisha yake. Yeye hushindwa kuilea katika maadiri mema familia yake kwa sababu ya maisha yake hayo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyepindapinda mwenye maneno mengi, kwa sababu naye ana tabia mbaya ambayo huwasumbua watu wake, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “aliyepindapinda ana maneno mengi.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuachana na tabia mbaya, kwa kujijengea tabia njema, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuwalea vyema watu wao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: A CROOKED MAN’S MOUTH IS FULL OF WORDS.

This saying came from a man who was twisted in his appearance. He has a deformed body because of his birth defect. He often uttered many words that irritated his colleagues because of asking help from them. That is why people say to him, “a crooked man’s mouth is full of words.”

This saying is likened to a person who has bad habits in life. Such person commits a vicious act that disturbs others because of ungodly conduct in life. He/she fails to raise his family in good morals because of such lifestyle.

This person is like the bent over person who had many words, because he/she also has a bad attitude that bothers others in everyday life. That is why people say to him/her, “a crooked man’s mouth is full of words.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of stopping bad habits, by building good conducts with others in their lives, so that they can morally raise their people in their societies.

806. BHULI MBINA YILI NA LYIMBO LYAYO.

Ulusumo lunulo, lulolile mbina na mimbo gajo. Imbina jinijo jigabhinagwa na bhanhu ukunhu bhalimba mimbo ayo gajilanijije najo. Aliyo lulu, bhuli ng’wimbi agikalaga alidebhi ilyimbo lya gubhinila umumbina yiniyo, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “bhuli mbina yili na lyimbo lyayo.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo akadebhile akatumamile ka bhuli nimo uyo agagutumama, umukikallile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunyo, akamanile agakashokeje ka bhuli mhayo uyo aliwilwa na bhiye umumahoya gakwe. Uweyi agabhalangaga abhanhu bhakwe inzila ja gubhiza ni kujo lya gutumila mihayo ikujo umumahoya gabho, bho kikalile kakwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu ng’wimbi o mbina uyo wimbaga lyimbo lya mbina yiniyo, kunguno nuweyi akadebhile akatumamile ka bhuli nimo, umukikalille kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu agabhawilaga giki, “bhuli mbina yili na lyimbo lyayo.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lolanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza ni kujo lya gudebha mihayo ya guhoya na bhichabho, umukikalile kabho, kugiki bhadule gwikala bho mholele nabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: KILA NGOMA INA  WIMBO WAKE.

Methali hiyo, huangalia ngoma na nyimbo zake. Ngoma hizo huchezwa huku watu wakiwa wanaimba nyimbo zinazoendana nazo. Lakini basi, kwenye kila ngoma mwimbaji wake huwa anaufahamu wimbo wa kuichezea hiyo ngoma, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “kila ngoma ina wimbo wake.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye anafahamu namna ya kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, anafahamu neno lenye busara itakiwayo kuwajibu watu anaoongea nao katika maongezi yake. Yeye huwafundisha pia wenzake namna hiyo ya kuwa na hekima ya kutumia maneno yenye busara katika maisha yao, kwa kupitia maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na mwimbaji aliyeuelewa kuumba wimbo wa ngoma yake aliyokuwa akiicheza, kwa sababu naye anafahamu namna ya kuyatekeleza vizuri majukuma yake, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana huwaambia watu kwamba, “kila ngoma ina wimbo wake.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na hekima ya kutumia maneyo yenye busara katika kuyaelewa vizuri majukumu yao, maishani mwao, ili waweze kuishi kwa amani na wenzao, siku zote.

ENGLISH: EVERY DANCE HAS ITS OWN SONG.

This proverb looks at a way of singing in each dance. Dances are performed while people sing relevant accompanying songs. But then, in every dance the singer knows the song for playing that dance in life time. That is why people say, “Every dance has its own song.”

This proverb is likened to a man who knows how to carry out his duties well in his life. Such person knows wises word for answering people who speaks with him in every day conversation. He also teaches his colleagues on how to be wise enough to use wise words in their lives.

This person is like the singer who understood the song of each dance that he/she was playing, because he also knows how to properly perform his duties in life time. That is why this person tells people that, “every dance has its own song.”

This proverb teaches people on how to be wise enough to use sage words in understanding their responsibilities, in their lives, so that they can always live in peace with one another,.

805. KANIGO KA NG’HABHI KAGANGOYA NSABHI.

Bhalihoyi bhanhu bhabhili abho bhikalaga muchalo jilebhe, uungi ilinsabhi, alu ungi alinhabhi. Unhabhi olina kanigo ako akagatuula hasi. Unsabhi akagadalahija akanigo kenako, aliyomga, “kihendyage akanigo kako nabhite.”

Unhabi agashosha, “kabhuchage duhu ukatuule lwande.” Unsabhi ng’wunyuyo, agagema ugukabhucha akanigo kenako ukaduma nulu kugasegeja. Uweyi agacha soni noyi aho oguduma ugugubhucha unigo gunuyo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wila giki, “kanigo ka ng’habhi kagangoya nsabhi.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agipondaga soni bho guyidahahija imilimo ya bhiye, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, adaidebhile isolobho ya milimo ya bhiye yiniyo, kunguno ya libhengwe lwakwe linilo, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agipondaga soni weyi ng’winikili kunguno ya guyidalaha imilimo ya bhiye bhenabho, aliyo adabhudebhile ubhudamu bhoyo.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu nsabhi uyo agaguduma ugugubhucha unigo go nhabhi uyo oliogudalahija, kunguno nuweyi agaidalahaga imilimo ya bhiye iyo adaidulile nulu uguyitumama. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “kanigo ka ng’habhi kagangoya nsabhi.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lolanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza ni kujo ukumilimo ya bhichabho, kugiki bhadule gutumama milimo yabho chiza, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: KIFURUSHI CHA MASKINI KILIMUADHIRI TAJIRI.

Walikuwepo watu wawili walioishi kwenye kijiji fulani, mmoja alikuwa tajiri, na mwingine maskini. Yule maskini alikuwa na kifurushi chake ambacho alikiweka chini. Tajiri akakidharau kifurushi hicho akisema, “kipishe kifurushi chako nipite.”

Yule maskini alimjibu, “kiinue tu ukiweke pembeni.” Tajiri huyo, alijaribu kukiinua kile kifurushi akakishindwa hata kukitikisa. Yeye aliona aibu sana aliposhindwa kukiinua hicho kifurushi. Ndiyo maana watu walimwambia kwamba, “kifurushi cha maskini kilimuadhiri tajiri.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hujiaibisha mwenyewe kwa kuzidharau kazi za wenzake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwa hazielewi thamani na faida za kazi za wenzake, kwa sababu ya dharau yake hiyo, maishani mwake. Yeye huendelea kujiaibisha mwenyewe kwa kuumbuka baada kushindwa kuzitekeleza kazi hizo za wenzake, alizozidharau kabla ya kuzitekeleza ili aufahamu ugumu wake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na tajiri aliyeshindwa kukiinua kifurushi cha maskini alichokidharau, kwa sababu naye huzidharau kazi za wenzake, ambazo hata haziwezi kuzitekeleza. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “kifurushi cha maskini kilimuadhiri tajiri.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na hekima ya kuthamini kazi za wenzao, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: A POOR MAN’S BAG ASHAMED THE RICH.

There were two people who lived in a certain village. One was a rich one while the other was a poor who had his own package which he put down. The rich man scoffed at the package, saying, “Pick up your package and let me pass.”

The poor man replied, “Just lift it up and put it aside.” The rich man, however, tried to lift the parcel and could not even shake it. He was very embarrassed when he failed to pick up the package. That is why people told him that “a poor man’s bag ashamed the rich.”

This proverb is likened to a man who humiliates himself by despising the work of his fellows, in his life. This man does not understand the value and benefits of the work of his colleagues, because of his contempt in his life. He continues to humiliate himself by being miserable after failing to carry tasks of his colleagues, which he despised before doing them enough to understand their difficulties.

This person is like the rich man who failed to pick up the poor man’s package, because he also despises the work of his fellows, which he cannot even perform. That is why people say to him, “a poor man’s bag ashamed the rich.”

This proverb teaches people on the wisdom of valuing the works of others in their lives, so that they can fulfill well their daily responsibilities in their societies.

Ulusumo lunulo, lulolile ntwe na mingi iyo ibhungilwe moyi. Umuntwe go ng’wa munhu jilihoyi mbisila ningi guti numo lili ilipolu ilitale, kunguno nalyo ligabhungaga mingi moyi. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “untwe ipolu.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agabhadalahaga abhanhu abho bhahumulile, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhadalahaga abhanhu bhenabho abho bhahumulile, kunguno adamanile iyo bhaliiganika, umukikalile kabho. Uweyi agabhonaga soni noyi ulu oigwa mihayo ya wiza iyo bhagaiyombaga abhanhu abho agabhadalahaga bhenabho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ung’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo adadebhile mingi iyo ili muntwe go ng’wa munhu, kunguno nuweyi agabhadalahaga abhanhu abho bhahumulile, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “untwe ipolu.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lolanga bhanhu higulya ya guleka gubhadalaga abhichabho, umukikalile kabho, kugiki bhadule kupandika matwajo mingi umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: KICHWA NI POLI.

Methali hiyo, huangalia kichwa na wingi wa yale yaliyomo ndani yake. Kichwani mwa mtu kuna mengi yaliyofichika mle kama vile poli kubwa lilivyo na vitu vingi ndani yake, kwa sababu nalo huwa na vitu vingi sana vilivyofichika. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “kichwa ni poli.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwadharau watu ambao wako kimya, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwadharau watu hao ambao wako kimya, kwa sababu hajui yale wanayoyafikiria, katika maisha yake. Yeye huona aibu sana anaposikia maneno mazuri wanayoyaongea watu hao ambao aliwadharaua kabla ya kuwasikiliza kwanza ili afahamu mawazo yao.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule ambaye hakuyaelewa yale mengi yaliyomo kichwani mwa mtu, kwa sababu naye huwadharau watu walioko kimya, katika maisha yake bila kuwasikiliza kwanza. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “kichwa ni poli.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha tabia za kuwadharau wenzao, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH:  THE HEAD IS A FOREST (A PERSON’S HEAD IS LIKE A FOREST).

This proverb looks at the head of person and what it contains. In it, there are as many hidden things as there are in a big forest with a lot of things in it, because it also has a lot of hidden things. That is why people say, “the head is a forest (a person’s head is like a forest).”

This proverb is likened to a man who despises people who are silent in life. This person, in turn, despises them because he does not know what they are thinking in their heads. He feels very ashamed when he hears the wise words which are spoken by those whom he despised before first listening to them so that he could understand their thoughts.

This person is like the one who did not understand much of what is in a person’s head, because he also despises people who are silent, in his life without first listening to them. That is why people say to him, “the head is a forest (a person’s head is like a forest).”

This proverb teaches people about giving up the habit of despising others, in their societies, so that they can find more success in fulfilling their daily responsibilities in their families.

803. IJIGWILILE MUMABHU JITASHILAGA UGUFULWA.

Iginhu ulu jugwila mumabhu jigakulikaga noyi. Ung’winikili ojo iginhu jinijo agajisolaga wandya gujingija amabhu genayo bho gugafula. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agishokelaga mara hingi ugujifula iginhu jakwe jinijo, kugiki aginje  pye amabhu genayo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “ijigwilile mumabhu jitashilaga ugufulwa.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agamanaga ushokela gwita miito ga bhubhi, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agolechaga nhungwa ja bhubhi kunguno ya miito gakwe genayo ayo gadigawiza. Uweyi adebhile igiki, inhungwa jakwe jinijo jidijawiza kunguno jigang’wenhelejaga gubyedwa na bhiye. Giko lulu, agikomeja ugujileka inhungwa jinijo bho gulomba bhulekejiwa ukubhiye abho agabhahulilaga, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga ni ginhu ijo jigagwila mumabhu genjiwa bho gufulwa amabhu genayo, kunguno nuweyi agahubhaga olomba bhulekejiwa ukubhiye abho abhahubhilaga, umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhanhu giki, “ijigwilile mumabhu jitashilaga ugufulwa.”

KISWAHILI: KIANGUKACHO MAJIVUNI HAKIISHI KUPULIZWA.

Kitu kikiangukia kwenye majivu huchafuka sana. Mwenye kitu hicho hukiokota na kuanza kukiondolea majivu hayo, kwa  kukipuliza. Mtu huyo, hurudia kukipuliza mara nyingi kitu chake hicho, ili ayaondoe majivu hayo yote. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “kiangukacho majivuni hakiishi kupulizwa.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwa anarudia kutenda maovu, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo huonesha tabia mbaya kwa kutenda matendo maovu. Yeye anaelewa kwamba, tabia yake hiyo mbaya humpelekea kudharauliwa na wenzake. Hivyo basi, huwa na anajitahidi kuomba msamaha kwa wenzake aliowakosea, katika maisha yake.

Methali hiyo, hufanana na kitu kilichoangukia kwenye majivu kikasafishwa kwa kupulizwa, kwa sababu naye huwakosea wenzake na kuwaomba msamaha, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watu kwamba, “kiangukacho majivuni hakiishi kupulizwa.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuachana na tabia ya kurudia kutenda maovu, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuishi kwa amani na wenzao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: WHAT FALLS ON ASHES DOES NOT STOP TO BE BLOWN AWAY (IT COSTS MUCH TO MAKE CLEAN SOMETHING THAT WAS TAINTED).

When something falls on ashes becomes very dirty. The owner of it picks it up and begins to remove the ashes by blowing them away. This person, on the other hand, repeatedly blows the object for removing all the ashes. That is why people say that “what falls on ashes does not stop to be blown away (it costs much to make clean something that was tainted).”

This proverb is compared to a person who repeatedly commits evil deeds in life. Such person shows evil attitudes by doing them. He/she understands that his/her evil habits have led to the point of being despised by others. Therefore, he/she often tries to apologize to them for those evils in life.

This person is like something that fell on ashes and was cleansed by blowing, because he/she also offends others by doing evils and apologizes to them in daily life. That is why he/she tells people that “what falls on ashes does not stop to be blown away (it costs much to make clean something that was tainted).”

This proverb imparts in people an idea of stopping evil deeds which they repeat in their lives, so that they can live in peace with each other, in their daily lives.
