KISWAHILI: LIMEMTUKA KWA MAJIGAMBO.

Msemo huo, huongelea watu walioenda kumwangalia Tembo kwenye kijiji cha Ndoleleji. Tembo huyo aliachwa na wenzake kwenye bustani ya Mto wa Mangu alijilisha.

Watu walipomuona huyo Tembo walikimbia kwenda kumuangalia mpaga wakawa wengi sana. Mmoja wa wale watu alijidai kumzoea huyo Tembo kwa kumsogelea mpaga akamchoma mti, kwa sababu ya majivuno yake hayo. Tembo huyo aligeuka na kumfuata kwa majigambo yule mtu ambaye alikimbia kuelekea unakoenda upepo mpaka akaanguka kwenye korongo. Ndiyo maana watu walimwambia kwamba, “limemtuka kwa majigambo.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hujitia kujua kwa kujigamba hovyo, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwadharau wenzake kwa sababu ya majivuno yake hayo. Yeye hupata matatizo ya kukosana na watu kwenye familia yake, kwa sababu ya kujidai kujua kwake akiwadharau wenzake hao, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyejigamba kwa kumchola mti Tembo, afukuzwa mpaka agaangukia kwenye korongo, kwa sababu naye hujigamba kwa kuwadharau wenzake mpaka anapata matatizo ya kukosana na watu, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “limemkuta kwa majigambo.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuutumia vizuri uongozi na uwezo wao, katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao, ili waweze kuishi vizuri na wenzao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: IT HAS POMPOUSLY FOUND HIM.

This saying speaks of the people who went to see an Elephant in the village of Ndoleleji. This elephant was left by his companions in the Mangu River garden where it fed itself.

When the people saw it, they ran towards it in order to see it and there were many of them. One of them claimed to be familiar with such Elephant by approaching it. He stabbed it with a tree, because of his arrogance. The elephant turned and proudly followed such man who ran in the direction of the wind until he fell into the canyon. That is why people told him that, “it has pompously found him.”

This saying is compared to a person who makes himself known by being vainly proud, in his life. Such person despises his colleagues because of his pride. He has problems of missing people who can to stay with him in his family, because of his self-deprecating knowledge of those colleagues in his life.

This person resembles the one who boasted about to the point of stabling an elephant by using a tree, who was chased until he fell into a canyon, because he also boasts about disrespecting his colleagues until he gets problems of not getting along with people, in his life. That is why people tell him that, “it has pompously found him.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of using their leadership and abilities properly, in an enactment of their responsibilities, so that they can live well with their people, in their lives.

KISWAHILI: MUMEKUTA JIWE LIMEVUNJWA.

Methali hiyo, huongelea juu ya uvunjaji wa jiwe. Uvunjaji huo, ulifanywa na mtu mmoja aliyekuwa na nguvu nyingi za kuweza kulivunja jiwe hilo kabla ya wengine kufika kwenye kazi hiyo. Mtu huyo, hujibidisha kufanya kazi vizuri mpaga onapata mali ambazo huzitunza vizuri, kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo. Yeye hutajirika kwa kupata mali nyingi sana kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya bidii yake ya kufanya kazi, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule mtu mwenye nguvu aliyelipasua jiwe peke yake kabla wenzake hawajafika, kwa sababu naye hujibidisha kufanya kazi mpaka anapata mali nyingi, kabla ya kupata watoto katika familia yake. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watoto wake kwamba, “mumekuta jiwe limevunjwa.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha wazazi juu ya kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao vizuri mpaka wapate mali za kutoka kuwaachia watoto wao, ili waweze kuishi kwa furaha, katika familia zao.

ENGLISH: YOU FOUND THE STONE BROKEN.

This proverb speaks of breaking a stone. Such breaking was done by one person who had a lot of power to break it before others had arrived at the work. He started doing the work until he finished it quickly and then his colleagues arrived. That is why he told them that, “you have found the stone broken.”

This proverb is compared to a person who has become rich by getting a lot of wealth before having children, in his family. Such person tries to work well when he finds assets that he takes good care of, because of his attention. He becomes rich by getting a lot of wealth in his family because of his hard working activities, in his life.

This person is similar to the strong man who split the stone alone before his companions had arrived, because he also has to work until he gets a lot of wealth, before having children in his family. That is why he tells his children that, “you have found the stone broken.”

This proverb teaches parents to work hard in doing their jobs well until they have enough assets to leave to their children, so that they can live happily in their families.

Akahayile kenako kagalengajiyagwa ku bhitoji abho bhagiyumilijaga ugugamama wangu amakoye ulu gigela umukikalile kabho. Abhanhu bhenabho bhagikomejaga gutumama milimo yabho kihamo na guhoya bhuli makanza ulu bhapandikaga makoye, kunguno ya witogwi bhobho bhunubho, umuwitoji bhobho. Abhoyi bhagabhambilijaga abhanhu bhabho ugugamala wangu amakoye gabho kunguno ya wiyumilija bhobho bhunubho, umuwikaji bhobho.

Abhanhu bhenabho bhagikolaga nu winga ubho bhugadijiwa na bhikweji mpaga yugigela na mbita hagati yingi, na witiwa, kunguno nabhoyi bhagapandika makoye bhiyumilija ugugamala wangu bho gutumama milimo yabho kihamo na guhoya kihamo, umuwikaji bhobho bhunubho. Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa wana ndoa wale ambao huyatatua matatizo yao kwa uvulimilivu, kila yanapotokea, katika maisha yao. Watu hao, hujibidisha kufanya kazi zao kwa pamoja na kuongeza kwa pamoja kila wanapopata matatizo, kwa sababu ya upendo wao huo kati yao. Wao huwasaidia watu wengi katika kuyatatua matatizo yao haraka, kwa sababu ya uvumilivu wao huo, maishani mwao.

Watu hao, hufanana na ile harusi iliyocheleweshwa na wapangaji wa mahali mpaka yakatokea matatizo wengine yaliyoichelewesha zaidi, kwa sababu nao huyatatua matatizo yao kwa uvumilifu kila yanapotokea, kwa kuongea na kufanya kazi zao kwa pamoja, katika maisha yao. Ndiyo maana watu huwaambia kwamba, “harusi imejivirigaviriga.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na uvumilivu wa kuwawezesha kuyatatua matatizo yao kwa kuongea na kufanya kazi zao kwa pamoja, ili waweze kuishi kwa amani, maishani mwao.

Stagnation is a delay of a wedding due to various hostilities. There were people who wanted to get married at Ngeme village. This saying is compared to married people who solve their problems with patience, whenever they arise, in their lives. Those people, try to do their work together and talk together whenever they have problems, because of their love for each other. They help many people in solving their problems quickly, because of their patience, in their lives.

Those people are like the wedding that was delayed by planners until there were other problems that delayed it even more, because they also solve their problems patiently whenever they occur, by talking and doing their work together, in their lives. That is why people tell them that, “the wedding has messed up.”

This saying teaches people about having patience that is strong enough to enable them solve their problems by talking and doing their work together, so that they can live peacefully in their lives.

1172. KALAGU –  KIZE. UMYAJI ALI NA MAGULU ALIYO UMYALWA ADINA MAGULU – NGOKO NI GI.

Ikalagu yiniyo, igalenganijiyagwa kuli myaji uyo agabhalelaga chiza abhana bhakwe mpaga bhakula, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agiyumilila ugubhalela abhana bhakwe bhenabho bho guhoya nabho bhuli lushigu, kunguno ya bhutogwa bhokwe ukubhana bhakwe bhenabho. Uweyi agabhakujaga mpaga bhadula gung’wambilija chiza aha kaya yake kunguno ya gubhalela chiza chiniko, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga ni nkola iyo iyanyelaga magi yagabhandila chiza mpaga gapya na gufuma kana umu bhuli ligi lyene, kunguno nuweyi agabhalelaga chiza abhana bhakwe mpaga bhadula gung’wambilija chiza aha kaya yake yiniyo, umiwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “umyaji ali na magulu aliyo umyalwa adina magulu – ngoko ni gi.”

Ikalagu yiniyo, yalangu bhabyaji higulya ya kubhalanhana abhana bhabho bho gubhalela chiza, kugiki bhadule gubhambilija chiza umu kaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

Chanzo cha kitendawili hicho, huangalia maisha ya kuku na utunzaji wa vifaranga vyake. Kuku huyo, hufika muda wa kutaga mayai na kuyalea kwa kuyakumbatia vizuri mpaga yanaiva. Mayai hayo yakiiva hupasuka na kutoa kifaranga kila moja kwa sababu ya utunzaji mzuri wa kuku huyo. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “mzazi ana miguu lakini mzaliwa hana miguu – kuku na yai.”

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mzazi yule ambaye huwalea vizuri watoto wake mpaga wanakua, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huvumilia katika kuwalea watoto wake hao kwa kuongea nao kila siku, kwa sababu ya upendo wake huo kwao. Yeye huwakuza vizuri watoto wake hao, mpaka wanaweza kumsaidia vizuri katika familia yake, kwa sababu ya kuwatunza kwa kuwapatia malezi mema, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule kuku aliyetaga mayaji akayatunza vizuri mpaka yakaiva na kutoa mtoto kila moja, kwa sababu naye huwatunza watoto wake kwa kuwalea vizuri mpaka wanaweza kumsaidia vizuri katika familia yake hiyo, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “mzazi ana miguu lakini mzaliwa hana miguu – kuku na yai.”

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha wazazi juu ya kuwatunza watoto wao kwa kuwalea vizuri, ili waweze kuwasaidia vyema katika familia zao, maishani mwao.

THE PARENT HAS LEGS BUT THE CHILD HAS NO LEGS – THE CHICKEN AND THE EGG.

The foundation of this paradox, looks at the life of chickens and the care of their chicks. The hen spends time to lay eggs and nurture them by hugging them well until when they are ripe. When the eggs are ripe they crack and give out a chick each one because of the good care of her. That is why people say that, “the parent has legs but the child has no legs – the chicken and the egg.”

This paradox is compared to the parent who takes good care of his children as they grow up, in his life. Such person perseveres in raising his children by talking to them every day, because of his love for them. He raises his children well, until they can help him well in his family, because of taking care of them by providing them with good upbringing in life.
