997. KALAGU – KIZE. NINA NG’WEJI MUGATI YA JISEME – MAB’ELE.

Ikalagu yiniyo ihoyelile mab’ele. Amab’ele geneyo gali gape, nulu igab’iza giti gagigengelekaga duhu, umugati ya jiseme. Agoyi gali gape guti ng’weji uyo gugejaga ibhujiku. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagiganilaga giki, “nina ng’weji mugati ya jiseme – Mab’ele.”

Ikalagu yiniyo, igalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo alina ng’holo yape, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, alina ng’holo yape guti mab’ele kunguno nayo ili mugati ya mili go ng’wa munhu ng’wunuyo. Uweyi agamanyikaga kulwa kayombele kakwe na mito gakwe ayo galigawiza genayo, nulu ib’ize giti, ing’holo yakwe igelaga duhu, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Ing’holo ya ng’wa munhu ng’wunuyo, igikolaga na mab’ele ayo gali mujiseme, kunguno nayo iliyape iyo igikalaga mugati ya mili go ng’wa munhu uyo agiyolechaga bho gwikala chiza na bhanhu bhakwe. Uweyi agabhalangaga abhanhu bhake higulya ya kubhiza na ng’holo jape kugiki bhadule gwikala chiza na bhanhu bhabho, bho kikalile kakwe kenako. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhanhu bhakwe bhenabho giki, “nina ng’weji mugati ya jiseme – Mab’ele.”

KISWAHILI: KITENDAWILI – TEGA.

NINA MWEZI NDANI YA BAKULI – MAZIWA.

Kitendawili hicho, huongelea juu ya maziwa. Maziwa hayo ni meupe hata kama yakiwa gizani huonekana wazi ndani ya chombo yalimotiwa. Yenyewe ni meupe kama mwezi uangazao usiku. Ndiyo maana watu huhadithiana kwamba, “nina mwezi ndani ya bakuli – maziwa.”

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana moyo mweupe kama mazima, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, ana moyo mweupe ndani ya mwili wake, kama maziwa yaliyotiwa ndani ya bakuli, ambao huonekana kwa sababu ya wenyewe kumwezesha mtu huyo kutenda mema kwa wenzake. Yeye hujulikana kwa njia kutenda matendo yake mema yaangazao gizani, kwa sababu huwa yanatoka kwenye moyo wake huo mweupe, maishani mwake.

Moyo wa mtu huyo, hufanana na yale maziwa yaliyomo kwenye bakuli, kwa sababu nao ni mweupe uliyomo ndani ya mwili wa mtu ambao hujionesha kwenye maisha mema ya mtu huyo aishiye vizuri na wenzake. Yeye huwafundisha watu wake juu ya kuwa na moyo huo mweupe, ili waweze kuishi na watu vizuri, kwa njia ya maisha yake. Ndiyo maana huwaambia watu wake hao kwamba, “nina mwezi ndani ya bakuli – maziwa.”

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na moyo mweupe kwa kusaidiana katika kuyatatua matatio yao, na kufanya kazi zao vizuri, ili waweze kuishi vizuri na kupata mafanikio mengi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

I HAVE A MOON INSIDE A BOWL – MILK.

This riddle talks about some milk. This milk is white in color even if it is in the dark it is clearly visible inside the container. It is as white as the moon at night. That is why people tell each other that, “I have a moon inside a bowl – milk.”

This puzzle is compared to the person who has a white or good heart in his life. This person has a white heart in his body like milk that has been poured into a bowl, which can be seen because of doing good deeds to his fellows. He/she is known for his good deeds that shine in the dark because they come from his white or clean heart in his life.

The heart of this person is like some milk which is in a bowl, because he also has white or clean heart in his body which is seen in living good life with his colleagues. He teaches his people about having that pure heart, so that they can live well with others in their lives. That is why he tells his people that, “I have a moon inside a bowl – milk.”

This riddle teaches people on how to be pure in heart by helping each other enough to solve their problems, so that they can live well to the point of achieving more successes in their lives.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agajib’ipyaga ijikolo jakwe bho gujigusija sakala na gujigulila maginhu ayo gadina solobho yoseyose, kunguno ya gugayiwa masala na witegeleja bho katumamilile ka sabho jakwe jinijo. Uweyi agajimalaga gujib’ipya na gujikenagula sagala isabho jakwe jinijo kunguno ya gujigusija sagara chiniko, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agajimala gujigusija sagala ijikolo jakwe, kunguno nu weyi agajimalaga isabho jakwe bho gujigusija sagala umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “igushage na munhu o jikolo, udizigusija jikolo.”

KISWAHILI: CHEZA NA MTU MWENYE MALI, USICHEZEE MALI.

Methali hiyo, huongelea juu ya uchezeaji wa mali na kucheza na mtu mwenye mali. Mtu yule ambaye hucheza na mtu mwenye mali hupata furaha ya kujifunza namna ya upataji wa mali wakiwa pamoja na mwenye mali hizo.

Lakini mtu achezeae mali huziharibu na kuzimaliza kwa kuzitumia hovyo katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hukumbwa na tatizo la umaskini kwa sababu ya kuzichezea hovyo mali zake hizo. Ndiyo maana watu humuonya kwa kumwambia kwamba, “cheza na mtu mwenye mali, usichezee mali.”

Methali hiyo, hutumiwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huiharibu mali yake kwa kuitumia hovyo, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huviharibu vitu vyake hivyo kwa kuzichezea hovyo kwa sababu ya kukosa akili ya umakini katika matumizi ya mali zake hizo. Yeye huzimaliza mali zake hizo, na kukumbwa na tatizo la umaskini kwa sababu ya kuzichezea hovyo mali zake hizo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyevimaliza vitu vyake kwa kuvichezea hovyo, kwa sababu naye huzimaliza mali zake kwa kuzichezea hovyo, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “cheza na mtu mwenye mali, usichezee mali.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na akili ya kuwawezesha kuzitunza mali zao kwa kuzitumia wakiwa na umakini mkubwa, ili ziweze kuwasaidia vizuri, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: PLAY WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS WEALTH BUT DO NOT PLAY WITH WEALTH.

The overhead proverb speaks about playing with property and playing with a wealthy person. The person who plays with the person who owns the property finds joy of learning how to acquire the property from such owner of possessions.

Nonetheless a man who squanders his possessions destroys them as well as himself by misusing them in his life. This man, however, suffers from poverty because he wasted his resources. That is why people warn him by saying that, “play with someone who has wealth but do not play with wealth.”

This proverb is applied to the man who squanders his belongings by wasting them in his life. This man, in effect, destroys his possessions by playing with them carelessly because of a lack of common sense in usage of his belongings. He squanders his wealth to point of suffering from poverty because of finishing them in useless matters.

This person is like the one who squanders his possessions by playing with them, because he also squanders his wealth by his carelessness in taking care of them in his life. That is why people say to him that, “play with someone who has wealth but do not play with wealth.”

This proverb instills in people a clue on how to be intelligent enough to take care of their possessions by using them with great care, so that they can nicely help them in their lives.

Yilikuwepo familia ya watu waliofanya kazi za aina nyingi. Wafanya kazi hao, waliyatekeleza majukumu yao kwa kusaidiana vizuri bila kuupoteza hovyo muda wao. Ndiyo maana waliambiana kwamba, “duniani nafasi ya kupokonyana.”

Watu hao, hujitahidi kuvifahamu vipaji vyao hivyo ambavyo huvitumia kwa kujibidisha kuyatekeleza majukumu yao, kwa sababu ya kupenda kuitumia vizuri nafasi yao ya kuja hapa duniani. Wao hufanikiwa kupata mali nyingi katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao, kwa sababu ya bidii yao hiyo ya kuvitumia vizuri vipaji vyao, maishani mwao.

Watu hao, hufanana na wale wanafamilia walioyatekeleza majukumu yao kwa kusaidiana vizuri, kwa sababu nao huvitumia vizuri vipaji vyao katika kuyatekeleza majukumu yao vyema, maishani mwao. Ndiyo maana huwaambia watu kwamba, “duniani nafasi ya kupokonyana.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuvitumia vizuri vipaji walivyopewa na Mwenyezi Mungu, kwa kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao vizuri, ili waweze kupata mali nyingi za kuziendelezea familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THE EARTH IS A PLACE TO STRUGGLE AGAINST EACH OTHER.

This proverb speaks of the opportunity to work here on earth for a living. The task at hand is to work together in order to complete the task early.

There was a family of people who did many kinds of works. The staff members carried out their duties by helping each other well without wasting their time. That is why they said to one another that, “the earth is a place to struggle against each other.”

This proverb is related to people who make good use of their talents in their lives. These people, in turn, strive to appreciate their talents which they use in an effort to fulfill their responsibilities in their daily lives. They do so out of an aim of making the most usage of their opportunity of coming on this earth. They succeed in acquiring more wealth in the performance of their duties because of their diligence of making the best use of their talents in their lives.

These people are like family members who fulfilled well their responsibilities by nicely helping each other, because they also make good use of their talents in fulfilling their responsibilities well in their lives. That is why they tell people that “the earth is a place to struggle against each other.”

This proverb teaches people on how to make good use of their God-given talents, by striving to do their work well, so that they may have more wealth for supporting their families in their lives.

Yeye huwahimiza kujitafutia mali zao wenyewe ambazo hayupo mtu wa kuwanyang’anya, kwa kuyatekeleza majukumu yao vizuri, maishani mwao.

Mzee huyo, hufanana na yule aliyewahimiza watoto wake kujibibisha kufanya kazi zao vizuri, kwa sababu naye pia huwahimiza watoto wake kujitegemea kwa kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yao, maishani mwao. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia kwamba, “changu chenu leo chako chako.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha tabia ya kutegemea kupata mali za urithi wa kugawana, kwa kuyakeleza vizuri majukumu yao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio ya kuwa na mali zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: MY PROPERTY IS YOURS BUT YOUR PROPERTY IS YOURS ALONE.

This saying originated from an old man who had children.  He was very rich because of his hard working life in cultivating large fields.

Nevertheless, one child was refusing to work because of depending on his father’s properties. That is why the father told his children that, “my property is yours but your property is yours alone.”

This saying is compared to the old man who teaches his people who depend on the inheritance of his possessions to strive to do their work in their lives. This old man wakes up his children early in the morning enough to go to work, because he does not want them to live on the inheritance. He encourages them to seek out their own possessions that no one else can rob them of, by fulfilling their responsibilities well, in their lives.

This elder is like the one who encouraged his children to do their best in their works, because he also encourages his children to be self-reliant by fulfilling their responsibilities in life. That is why he tells them that, “my property is yours but your property is yours alone.”

This saying teaches people on giving up the habit of relying on the acquisition of shared property, by carefully defining their responsibilities, so that they can be successfully in getting their own properties in their lives.

Wao walikosa wa kumlaumu kwa sababu ya kuendelea kulia kwake mtoto huyo. Ndiyo maana walisema kwamba, “wenye kumtuliza wapo wenye kulaumiwa hawapo.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hupata matatizo ya msiba na kuanza kulia, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, akipata msiba, hupata watu wengi wa kumtuliza kwa sababu ya upendo wao kwake. Wao hukosa wa kumshitaji kwa sababu ya imani yao kwa Mungu mwenye uwezo wa kufanya lolote atakalo kwa viumbe wake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule mtoto aliyepata watulizaji alipokuwa akilia, kwa sababu naye hupata watulizaji hao anapopata matatizo mbalimbali yakiwemo yale ya msiba. Ndiyo maana watulizaji hao husema kwamba, “wenye kumtuliza wapo wenye kulaumiwa hawapo.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kupokea mapenzi ya Mungu kwa kumwamini Yeye aliyewaumba, ili waweze kufarijiana vizuri, katika misiba itokeayo maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: SOOTHERS ARE PRESENT BUT THERE IS NO ONE TO ACCUSE.

This proverb originated from the people who silenced a child who was crying. These people tried to calm the baby down without even being successful. They had no one to blame for its crying. That is why they said that, “soothers are present but there is no one to accuse.”

This proverb is equated to a man who gets into trouble and begins to cry. This person finds many people who comfort him when he gets problems because of their love for him. He does not blame anyone in those problems because of his faith in the will of God who is capable of doing whatever He wants to His creatures.

This person resembles the child who received comfort when he was crying, because he also finds such comforters when he experiences various problems, including those of misfortune in his life. That is why he says that, “soothers are present but there is no one to accuse.”

This proverb instills in people an idea on how to receive God’s will by believing in Him who created them, so that they can comfort each other well in the heartbreaks that befall their lives.
