KISWAHILI: MTAFUTIA WACHUNGAJI.

Alikuwepo mtu aliyeishi kwenye kijiji cha Masanga. Mtu huyo alienda kutafuta chakula sehemu za mbali wakati wa kipindi cha njaa. Yeye alipata chakula akakileta nyumbani kwake ili watu wake wapate kula na kuwafunguliwa mifuga kwenda kuwachunga kwa sababu ilikuwa vigumu kwenda kuchunga bila kula chakula. Hao wachungaji walipokula walienda kuwachunga hao mifugo. Ndiyo maana watu hao walimuita jila la “Mtafutia wachungaji.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huijali vizuri familia yake kwa kuitafutia chakula katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hujibidisha kufanya kazi ambazo humpatia chakula cha kutosha kuwalisha watu wake kwa sababu ya upendo alionao kwa watu wake hao. Yeye hupata mazao mengi kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya kujibidisha kwake kufanya kazi zake.

Mtu huyo hufanana na yule aliyeenda kuitafutia chakula familia yake na kuiletea alipokipata, kwa sababu naye hujibidisha kufanya kazi vizuri mpaka anapata chakula cha kutosha kuwalisha watu wake. Ndiyo maana watu walimuita jila la “mtafutia wachungaji.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuzitunza vizuri familia zao kwa kufanya kwa bidii na kuwapatia chakula watu wao, ili waweze kuishi kwa furaha maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: SEEKER OF SHEPHERDS.

There was a man who lived in the village of Masanga. He went to look for food in distant places during the period of famine. He found and brought it to his house so that his people could eat and let the herdsmen go to herd their livestock because it was difficult to do so without eating food. When the shepherds ate they went to take care of their livestock. That is why those people named him as a “Seeker of shepherds.”

This saying is compared to the person who takes good care of his family by finding food for them in his life. Such person, tries to work so as to get enough food to feed his people because he loved them. He got a lot of produce for his family because of his hard working activities.

This person is like the one who went to find food for his family and brought it when he found it, because he also has to work hard until he gets enough food to feed his people. That is why people named him as the “Seeker of shepherds.”

This saying teaches people on how take good care of their families by working hard enough to provide them with food for their people, so that they can live happily in their lives.

Gashinaga abhanhu bhamonaga aho aligulinga iligundo ung’wenda gunuyo. Hunagwene bhagang’wila giki, “onungilaga munhu igundo.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agikalaga ondakilaga munhu uyo onhubhila, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikalaga ondakilaga umunhu uyo umhubhila kunguno ya kulema kulekeja uyo gugang’helejaga guhaya gumaja shile. Uweyi agidumaga na bhanhu bhingi noyi aha kaya yakwe kunguno ya bhupelanu bhokwe bhunubho ubho gulema gubhalekeja abhiye, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agalunga ligundo ha ng’wenda go ng’wiye, kunguno nuweyi agikalaga obhapelanilaga abhanhu abho bhanhubhila. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “onungilaga munhu igundo.”

KISWAHILI: AMEMFUNGIA MTU FUNDO.

Msemo huo huongelea juu ya ufungaji wa fundo wa mtu fulani. Alikuwepo mtu yule aliyechukua nguo ya mwenzake akaifunga fundo kwenye kona ya nguo akifikiri kwamba watu hawajamuona. Kumbe watu wamemuona alipokua akilifunga fundo kwenye konna ya nguo hiyo. Ndiyo maana watu hao walimwambia kwamba, “amemfungia mtu fundo.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwa amemkasirikia mtu aliyemkosea katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, humkasilikia yule aliyemkosea kwa sababu ya kushindwa kumsamehe hali ambayo humpelekea kutaka kulipa kisasi. Yeye hukosana na watu wengi kwa sababu ya kukataa kusamehe kwake wale waliomkosea, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyefunga fundo kwenye kona ya nguo ya mwenzake, kwa sababu naye huwakasilikia wale waliomkosea katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “amemfungia mtu fundo.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na moyo wa kusameheana pale wanapokoseana, ili waweze kuzilea familia zao kwa kuishi vizuri, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: HE HAS TIED SOMEONE A KNOT.

This saying refers to the tying of someone’s knot. There was the man who took his friend’s clothes and tied a knot in the corner of the clothes, thinking that people had not seen him. But people have seen him growing up tying such knot in the corner of such dress. That is why they told him that, “he has tied someone a knot.”

This saying is compared to the person who easily becomes angry with another one who wronged him in his life. Such person becomes angry with the one who wronged him because of his inability to forgive others, which leads him to want to take revenge. He conflicts with many people because of his refusal to forgive those who wronged him, in his life.

This person is like the one who tied a knot in the corner of his friend’s clothes, because he is also angry with those who wronged him in his life. That is why people tell him that, “he has tied someone a knot.”

This saying teaches people on how have a heart of forgiving each other when they wrong each other, so that they can raise their families by living well, in their lives.

Jeja miso jili ginhu ijo aginhiyagwa munhu uyo wikugaga jikolo ja ng’wa munhu uyo oliojijimija. Lililinong’ho nulu jisambo ja ng’wikuji ojikolo jinijo ijo jalijajimilaga. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagazunyaga “gung’winha munhu jeja miso.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo alintungilija ukubhiye umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhalanhanijaga abhiye ijikolo jabho kunguno ya bhutungilija bhokwe. Uweyi agabhalangaga abhanhu bhakwe nhungwa ja wiza ja gufunya bhulumbi ukubhichabho abho bhagabhitililaga miito ga wiza abhanhu bhenabho, kunguno ya bhutungilija bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agang’winha jisambo ung’wikuji o jikolo jakwe, kunguno nuweyi agabhinhaga jisambo abhanhu abho bhagang’witilaga mihayo ya wiza, umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene atogilwe “gung’winha munhu jeja miso.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza bhatungilija bhagulanhana jikolo ja bhichabho, na gufunya bhulumbi ukubhichabho abho bhagabhitililaga mihayo ya wiza, kugiki bhadule kujibheja chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

KISWAHILI: KUMPA MTU UTOTOLE.

Utotole ni kitu kile anachoomba mtu yule aliyekuokotea kitu chako ulichopeza. Hiyo ni zawadi ya mtu aliyeokota kitu kilichopotea. Ndiyo maana watu hukubali “kumpa mtu utotole.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni mwaminifu kwa wenzake katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwatunzia wenzake mali zao kwa sababu ya uaminifu wake huo. Yeye huwafundisha pia watu wake tabia njema za kutoa shukrani kwa wenzao wanaowatendea mema, maishani mwao.

Mtu huyo hufanana na yule aliyempatia zawadi mtu yule aliyemuokotea kitu chake, kwa sababu naye huwapatia zawadi wale wanaomtendea mema, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana hupenda “kumpa mtu utotole.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na uaminifu wa kuwatunzia watu mali zao na kutoa shukrani kwa wale wanaowatendea mema, ili waweze kuzilea vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

1123. OMILAGA MIHAYO.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako ingilile kuginhu ijo munhu ojimilaga. Iginhu jiniyo, jigibhisaga munda yakwe kunguno jidigelaga. Giko ni mihayo iyo munhu witulaga mu moyo gokwe igabhizaga guti ginhu ijo ojimilaga munhu. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “omilaga mihayo.”

Akahayile kaneko, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agayidebhaga imihayo iyawiza oituula munholo yakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agayidegelekaga imihayo iya wiza bho witegeleja bhutale umumahoya gakwe kunguno ayidebhile solobho yayo umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agayitumilaga chiza imihayo iyo ili mholo yakwe bho gubhalela chiza abhanhu bhakwe, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agamila ginhu jibhisa munda yakwe, kunguno nuweyi agayisolanyaga imihayo ikujo oyituula munholo yakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki “omilaga mihayo.”

Chanzo cha msemo huo kilitokea kwenye kitu ambacho mtu alikimeza. Kitu hicho, hujificha tumboni mwake kwa sababu huwa hakionekani. Hivyo na maneno ambayo mtu ameyaweka kwenye moyo wake huwa kama kitu alichomeza mtu. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “amemeza maneno.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huyaelewa maneno ya hekima na kuyaweka kwenye moyo wake katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huyasikiliza maneno ya hekima kwa umakini mkubwa na kuyaweka moyoni mwake kwa sababu anafahamu faida yake maishani mwake. Yeye huyatumia vizuri maneno hayo ya hekima kwa kuwalea vyema watu wake, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo hufanana na yule mtu aliyemeza kitu kikajificha tumboni mwake, kwa sababu naye husikiliza maneno ya hekima na kuyaweka moyoni mwake katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “amemeza maneno.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuyachambua maneno ya hekima katika maongezi yao na kuweka ndani ya mioyo yao, ili waweze kuzilea vyema familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: HE HAS SWALLOWED WORDS.

The source of overhead saying came from something that someone swallowed. Such thing hides in his stomach because it is not visible. So the words that a person has put in his heart are like something that such person had swallowed. That is why people tell him that, “he has swallowed words.”

This saying is related to the person who understands words of wisdom enough to keep them in his heart. Such person listens to the words of wisdom with great attention and keeps them in his heart because he knows its benefits in his life. He uses those words of wisdom for nurturing his people well, in his life.

Such person is like the person who swallowed something which was hidden in his stomach, because he also listens to the words of wisdom and keeps them in his heart. That is why people tell him that, “he has swallowed words.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of analyzing words of wisdom in their speech enough to apply them in their daily lives, so that they can raise their families well, in their family members’ lives.

1122. AGUNSIMBAGA MUNHU.

Umunhu ung’wunuyo, alina jitwa ja gubegeshela imbisila ja ng’wa munhu ijo jigalenganijiyagwa na jitwa ja kusimba mizwi ya linti, kunguno ya nhungwa jakwe ija bhubhi jinijo. Uweyi agakenagulaga kaya ja bhanhu umuwikaji bhokwe kunguno ya bhusigani bhokwe bhunubho.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu nsimbi o mizwi ya linti, kunguno nuweyi agajisesaga hape imbisila ja ng’wa munhu uyo agansigaga. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “agunsimbaga munhu.”

KISWAHILI: ANAMCHIMBA MTU.

Msemo huo, huongelea juu ya uchimbaji wa mizizi ya mti. Mti ukichimbwa mizizi yake huonena wazi kama ilivyo ndani ya ardhi. Mti huo huwa hauna nguvu tena ya kuishi kwa sababu mizizi yake ni fumbo la uzima wa mti huo.

Mizizi ya mtu ni fumbo la maisha yake, au siri zake. Hivyo basi, yule achimbaye siri za mtu fulani hummalizia nguvu za kuishi mtu huyo, pia humuondolea heshima mbele ya watu. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia mtu huyo kwamba, “anamchimba mtu.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwasengenya wenzake katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, ana matendo ya kupeleleza siri za mtu ambayo hulinganishwa na yule anayechimba mizizi ya mti, ambazo ni siri zake, kwa sababu ya tabia yake hiyo mbaya. Yeye huvuruga familia za watu maishani mwake kwa sababu ya usengenyaji wake huo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule mchimbaji wa mti, kwa sababu naye hutoa nje siri za mtu yule anayemsengenya. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “anamchimba mtu.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuachana na tabia ya kuwasengenya wenzao maishani mwao, ili waweze kuishi kwa amani, katika familia zao.

ENGLISH: HE IS DIGGING SOMEONE.

This saying talks about digging up roots of a tree. When a tree is dug up, its roots become clearly visible as they are in the ground. It no longer has the power to live because its roots are mysteries of its life.

In a similar way person’s roots are the mysteries of his life, or his secrets. Therefore, the one who reveals the secrets of a certain person ends the life force of such person, also removes his honor in front of people. That is why people say to such person that, “he is digging someone.”

This saying is compared to the person who gossips about his colleagues in his life. Such person, has acts of spying on someone’s secrets which are compared to the one who digs up the roots of a tree, which are his secrets, because of his misbehaving. He disrupts the families of people in his life because of his gossip.

Such person is like the tree roots digger, because he also reveals the secrets of the person by gossiping about him. That is why people tell him that, “he digging someone.”

This saying teaches people about abandoning habits of gossiping on their partners in their lives, so that they can live in peace, in their families.
