1118. NSHISHI NULU.

Akahayile kenako kahoyelile bhululu bho nshishi. Imishishi ili habhili, iyingi ili mipolo alii yingi igikalaga milulu. Abhanhu ulu bhuja gujuyotona bhushishi bhagabhonjaga tamu kugiki bhadule guyidebha imishishi iminonu na guyiyob’a lulu. Aliyo lulu ulu bhuyibhona giki ili milulu bhagalekaga ugubhutona ubhushishi bhunubho kunguno ya ubhululu bhogo bhunubho. Hunagwene bhagwitanaga unshishi gunuyo giki, “nshishi nulu.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo obhalemela abhiye kunguno ya nhinda jakwe umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikalaga abhatab’anije abhiye umunhungwa jakwe kunguno ya nhani ya kashokeje kakwe ukubhiye. Uweyi agadumaga ugwikala chiza na bhanhu kunguno ya bhulambu na libhengwe lwakwe linilo ukubhiye, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nu nshishi unulu uyo gubhalemelile abhanhu ugubhung’wa ubhushishi bhogo, kunguno nuweyi abhalemelile abhiye umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’witanaga giki, “nshishi nulu.”

KISWAHILI: MCHAJU MCHUNGU.

Msemo huo, huongelea uchungu wa mkwaju. Mikwaji iko katika aina mbili, mingine ni mtamu lakini mingine ni michungu. Watu wakitaka kuchuma ukwaju huuonja kwanza ili waweze kufahamu kama ule mti ni mtamu kwa ajili ya kuyachuma matunda yake. Lakini watu hao wakionja na kuona kwamba ule mkwaju ni mchungu, huacha kuyachuma matunda ya mti huo.  Ndiyo maana watu hao huuita mti huo kuwa ni “mkwaju mchungu.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ameshindikana kwa wenzake kwa sababu ya kiburi chake katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hukataa kutungwa na wenzake kwa sababu ya kiburi chake hicho, katika utekelezaji wa kazi zake.  Yeye hushindwa kuishi na watu kwa sababu ya dharau zake hizo kwa wenzake, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na ule mkwaju mchungu uliowashinda watu kuyatumia matunda yake, kwa sababu naye ana kiburi cha kukataa kutumwa na wenzake katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humuita kwamba ni “mkwaju mchungu.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuachana na kiburi na dharau katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao, ili waweze kuishi vizuri na wenzao katika familia zao.

ENGLISH: BITTER TAMERAND.

The overhead saying speaks about a bitterness of tamerand tree. There are two types of tamerand tree namely, the sweet one and bitter one. If people want to pick the nectar, they taste it first so that they can know if it is sweet for picking its fruit or not. But when they taste and see that its fruits are bitter, they stop picking them. That is why these people call it a “bitter tamerand.”

This saying is equated to a person who has become an impossible to his colleagues because of his pride in his life. This person refuses to help his colleagues because of his pride, in the implementation of his tasks. He fails to live peacefully with people because of his contempt for his colleagues, in his life.

This person resembles the bitter  tamerand that people could not eat its fruits, because he also has pride that cause him to refuse to help his colleagues in his life. That is why people call him a “bitter tamerand.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of abandon pride and contempt in performing their duties, so that they can live well with their societal members in their families.

1117. ULU UBHONA MAB’ELE GAMBULI UGUHAYA GA NG’HOLO ULU UB’ONA GA NG’HOLO UGUHAYA GA MBULI.

Akahayile kenako kalolile mab’ele. Amab’ele ga ndimu yoseyose gagikalaga gikolile kunguno gali gape ayo munhu adadulile gugalenya ub’upe wogo. Kuyiniyo lulu, amab’ele ga mbuli na ga ng’holo gikolile kunguno pye agose gali gape nali ga ndimu. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “ulu ubhona mab’ele ga mbuli uguhaya ga ng’holo ulu ubhona ga ng’oholo uguhaya ga mbuli.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo ali na ng’hoo ya wiza iyo ili ya pe, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabokelaga bhanhu bha mbika na mbika, abhawiza na bha b’ub’i kunguno ya wiza bho ng’holo yakwe bhunubho. Uweyi agabhalumanyaga chiza abhanhu abho bhiduma bho guhoya nabho chiza kunguno ya ng’holo yakwe ya wiza yiniyo, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikalola na mab’ele agape genayo kunguno nuweyi ali ng’holo yape iyo igang’wambilija ugwikala chiza, na bhanhu bho guhaya nabho chiza. Hunagwene abhanhu bhaganyilaga giki, “ulu ubhona mab’ele ga mbuli uguhaya ga ng’holo ulu ubhona ga ng’oholo uguhaya ga mbuli.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na ng’holo ja wiza bho guhoya chiza na bhichabho uwikaji bhobho, kugiki bhadule gujilela chiza ikaya jabho, umubhulamu bhobho.

KISWAHILI: UKIONA MAZIWA YA MBUZI UTASEMA YA KONDOO, UKIONA YA KONDOO UTASEMA YA MBUZI.

Msemo huo huangalia maziwa. Maziwa ya mnyama yeyote huwa yamefanana kwa sababu yote ni meupe ambayo mtu hawezi kuutofautisha weupe wake. Kwa hiyo basi, maziwa ya mbuzi na yale ya kondoo hufanana kwa sababu yote ni meupe kwa vile ni ya wanyama. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “ukiona maziwa ya mbuzi utasema ya kondoo, ukiona ya kondoo y utasema ya mbuzi.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni mwenye moyo mwema ambao ni mweupe katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwapokea watu wa aina mbalimbali, wema na waovu kwa sababu ya wema wa moyo wake huo. Yeye huwaunganisha vizuri watu waliokosana kwa kuongea nao vizuri kwa sababu ya unyoofu wa moyo wake huo katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo hufanana na maziwa meupe hayo kwa sababu naye ana moyo mwema unaomsaidia katika kuishi na watu vizuri. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “ukiona maziwa ya mbuzi utasema ya kondoo, ukiona ya kondoo utasema ya mbuzi.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na moyo mwema wa kuongea vizuri na wenzao maishani mwao, ili wawezi kuzilea vyema familia zao.

ENGLISH: IF YOU SEE GOAT’S MILK YOU WILL SAY SHEEP’S MILK, IF YOU SEE SHEEP’S MILK YOU WILL SAY GOAT’S.

This saying refers to some milk of animals.  The Milk of any animal is the same because they are all white that one cannot distinguish their whiteness from that of one animal to another. Therefore, goat’s milk and sheep’s milk are similar because they are all white because they belong to animals. That is why people say that, “if you see goat’s milk you will say sheep’s milk, if you see sheep’s milk you will say goat’s.”

This saying is related to a person who has a good heart who is white in his life. Such person receives different kinds of people, good and bad ones because of the goodness of his heart. He unites people who are at odds by talking to them well because of the sincerity of his heart in his life.

This person looks like such white milk because he also has a good heart that helps him to live well with people. That is why people say that, “if you see goat’s milk you will say sheep’s milk, if you see sheep’s milk you will say goat’s.”

This saying teaches people on how to have a good heart to speak well with their nobles in their lives, so that they can raise their families well.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agabhawila bhanhu bhingi uwikumbwa bhokwe ubho gulya nyama bhunubho, kunguno wiganikaga giki, hamo bhagungunana. Aliyo lulu abhanhu bhenabho bhadangunanile josejose. Hunagwene bhangang’wila giki, “milaga mate.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agikaga gupandika ginhu ijo adinabhudula ubho gujipandika, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikalaga olindilaga gwinhiwa jikolo guti jiliwa, na bhiye bho nduhu ugutumama imilimo yakwe, kunguno ya gukija gwitegeleja chiza gokwe gunuyo. Uweyi agikalaga ukoyiwa na nzala aha kaya yakwe kunguno ya gulindila gwinhiwa jikolo ja bhiye, bho nduhu ugutumama imilimo yakwe, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agikumbwa gulya nyama iyo oli adinabhudula ubho guyipandika, kunguno nuweyi agalindilaga gwinhiwa ginhu na bhiye bho nduhu ugutumama imilimo yakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “milaga mate.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kuleka gulendela gwikumbwa ginhu ijo bhadina bhudula bho gujipandika, kugiki bhadule gwigulambija gutumama milimo yao iyagubhenhela bhupandiki bho jikolo jabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: MEZA MATE.

Alikuwepo mtu mmoja aliyetamani kula nyama ambayo hakuwa na uwezo wa kuipata. Mtu huyo, aliwaambia watu wengi juu ya tamaa yake hiyo ya kula nyama kwa sababu alifikiri kwamba wale wangeweza kumsaidia. Lakini watu hao, hawakumsaidia chochote. Ndiyo maana walimwambia kwamba, “meza mate.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hutegemea kupata kitu kile ambacho hana uwezo wa kukipata katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hushinda akiwa amekaa akisubiri kupewa na wenzake kitu kikiwemo chakula bila kufanya kazi, kwa sababu ya kukosa umakini wake huo. Yeye husumbuliwa na tatizo la njaa katika familia yake kwa sababu ya kusubiri kupewa kitu na wenzake bila ya kufanya kazi, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyetamani kula nyama ile ambayo hakuwa na uwezo wa kuipata na bila kufanya kazi, kwa sababu naye husubiri kupewa kitu fulani na wenzake bila kufanya kazi katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba “meza mate.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuachana na tabia ya kuendelea kutamani kitu kile ambacho hawana uwezo wa kukipata, ili waweze kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao za kujipatia mahitaji yao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: SWALLOW SPIT.

There was a man who wanted to eat meat that he could not find. Such man told a good number of people about his desire to do so because he thought that they could help him. But those people did not help him. That is why they told him that, “swallow spit.”

This saying is compared to a person who depends on getting something that he is not able to get in his life. Such person spends his time by sitting and waiting for his colleagues to give him something, including food, without working, because of his lack of attention. He suffers from problem of hunger in his family because of waiting to be given something by his colleagues without working, in his life.

This person resembles the one who desired to eat some meat that he could not get without working, because he also waits to be given something by his colleagues without working in his life. That is why people tell him that “swallow spit.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of stopping habit of desiring something that they are not able to get without working for it, so that they can do their own works enough to get their basic needs, in their lives.

Akahayile kenako kingilile kubhanhu abho bhilomelaga bho gutumila simu. Umumahayo gabho genayo igamanyika giki bhadiyelelagwa chiza kunguno ya lipande ilo bhalibhimila. Umo obho wiyangula guchola ipande lisoga ilyagudula gwiyigwa chiza umumahoya gabho genayo. Hunagwene agang’wila ung’wiye giki, “nali hab’i lyehaga nime hasoga.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agahoyaga chiza na bhanhu bhakwe umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agatumilaga ilaka lyawiza ilo ligang’wambilija ugubhalela chiza abhanhu bhakwe, kunguno ya bhutungilija bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agikalaga widebhile na bhanhu bhingi abho agabhalangaga nhungwa ja gwikala chiza na bhichabho, kunguno ya witegeleja bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo agachola ipande lya wiza ilyaguhoya chiza nu ng’wiye, kunguno nuweyi agahoyaga bho gutumila ilaka lya gwiyiigwa chiza nabhiye umumahoya gakwe. Hunagwene agayombaga giki, “nali hab’i lyehaga nime hasoga.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya guchola wasa wiza bho guhoya na bhichabho, kugiki bhadule kujilela chiza ikaya jabho umuwikaji bhobho.

Marko 6:30-33.

KISWAHILI: NIKO PABAYA SUBIRI NISIMAME PAZURI.

Msemo huo ulianzia kwa watu waliokuwa wakiongea kwa kutumia simu. Watu hao walibaini kwamba, hawaelewani vizuri katika maongezi yao hayo. Ndipo mmoja wao aliamua kutafuta sehemu nzuri ya kumwezesha kuelewana vizuri na mwenzake katika maongezi yao hao. Ndiyo maana alisema kwamba, “niko pabaya subiri nisimame pazuri.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huongea vizuri na watu wake katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hutumia sauti na kauli nzuri ambayo humsaidia katika kuwalea vizuri watu wake hao, kwa sababu ya uaminifu wake huo. Yeye hufahamiana na watu wengi ambao huwafundisha tabia njema za kuishi vizuri na wenzao, kwa sababu ya unyofu wake huo wa moyo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyetafuta sehemu nzuri ya kuongea vizuri na mwenzake, kwa sababu naye hutumia lugha na kauli nzuri ya kumwezesha kuelewana vizuri na wenzake, katika maongezi yake. Ndiyo maana husema kwamba, “niko pabaya subiri nisimame pazuri.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kutafuta nafasi nzuri ya kuwawezesha kuelewana vizuri na wenzao katika maongezi yao, ili waweze kuzilea vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I AM AT A BAD AREA WAIT FOR ME UNTIL I STAND UP AT A GOOD ONE.

This saying started from people who were talking on the phone. These people noted that they did not understand each other well in their conversation. Then one of them decided to find a good place enough to enable him understand each other better in their conversation. That is why he said that, “I am at a bad area wait for me until I stand up at a good one.”

This saying is compared to a person who speaks well with his people in his life. Such person, uses good voice and statement can help him in raising well his people, because of his honesty. He gets to know many people whom he teaches good habits enough to live well with their nobles, because of his sincerity of heart in life.

This person is similar to the one who looked for a good place enough to speak well with his partner, because he also uses good language and phrases for enabling him understand well with his colleagues, in his conversation. That is why he says, “I am at a bad area wait for me until I stand up at a good one.”

This saying teaches people about finding a good opportunity enough to enable them understand each other well in their conversations, so that they can nicely raise their families, in their lives.

Ohaimanila goyunhebha umongo gunuyo mpaga nose uyulomba bhanhu bhanguhe hoyi gung’wambilija, kunguno gugayumaja inguzu jakwe. Hunagwene agayomba giki, “nahinjaga nigunagi.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agitulaga bhumani bho bhuli mhayo bho gubhadalaha abhiye, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agiganikaga giki alina masala mingi gulebha abhiye kunguno ya libhengwe lyakwe linilo. Uweyi apandikaga makoye ga gumala jiliwa aha ng’wake henaho, kunguno ya gubhadalaha abhanhu abho bhadulile gung’wambilija umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo agagudalaha umongo uyo gugahaya gunjana gunuyo, kunguno nuweyi agabhadalahaga abhiye abho bhadulile gung’wambilija mpaga olemelwa na wandwa gubhitana giki bhang’wambilije. Hunagwene agayombaga giki, “Nahinjaga nigunagi.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza nikujo ukubhanhu bho kuleka gubhabyeda abhiye, kugiki bhuli ng’wene adule ugubhushigila uwitanwa bhokwe, kugiki bhadule gupandika matwajo mingi umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: NIMEZIDIWA NISAIDIENI.

Alikuwepo mtu mmoja aliyekuwa akivuka mto kwenye kijiji cha Mwatuma. Mtu huyo, alikuwa akifikiri kwamba angeweza kuuvuka mto huo kwa sababu ya utalaam wake wa kuogelea. Alishtukia ule mto ukaanza kumzidi nguvu mpata mwishowe alilazimika kuomba msaada kutoka kwa watu wengine kwa sababu ya yeye kuanza kuishiwa nguvu.  Ndiyo maana alisema kwamba, “nimezidiwa nisaidieni.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hujidai kujua kila kitu kwa kuwadharau wenzake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hujifikiria kwamba ana akili nyingi kuliko wenzake wote kwa sababu ya dharau yake hiyo kwa watu. Yeye hupata matatizo ya kuishiwa chakula kwenye familia yake, kwa sababu ya kuwadharau watu wale ambao wangemsaidia, katika maisha hake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyetaka kuvuka mto uliotaka kumpeleka mpata akasaidiwa na watu, kwa sababu naye huwadharau wenzake ambao wanaweza kumsaidia katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “nimezidiwa nisaidieni.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na heshima kwa watu kwa kuachana na dharau kwa wenzao, ili kila mmoja aweze kuufikia wito wake, na kupata mafanikio mengi, katika maisha yake.

ENGLISH: I HAVE BEEN OVERWHELMED, HELP ME.

There was a man who was crossing the river in the village of Mwatuma. He thought that he could manage crossing it because of his swimming skills. He was shocked that the river started to overpower him until he finally had to ask for help from other people because he started losing his strength. That is why he said, “I have been overwhelmed, help me.”

This saying is equated to a person who claims to know everything by despising his colleagues, in his life. Such person thinks that he is more intelligent than all his nobles because of his contempt to them. He experiences problems of running out of food in his family, because of despising the people who could help him, in his life.

This person resembles the one who wanted to cross the river that overhelmed him until he got help from people, because he also despises his colleagues who can help him in his life. That is why he says, “I have been overwhelmed, help me.”

This saying teaches people about having respect to people by stopping despising them, so that they can get a lot of successes in their lives.
