KISWAHILI: UGONJWA PALIZI YA MWILI.

Palizi ni uwepo wa majani mengi ndani ya shamba la mtu. Majani hayo huyazuia mazao kuzaa kwa sababu ya kuyamalizia maji. Mwenye shamba hilo hujitahidi huyapalilia mazao yake kwa kuyakata majani hayo kwa sababu yenyewe huyasonga mazao yake kama vile ugonjwa unavyoukosesha raha mwili mwa mtu anayeumwa. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “ugojwa palizi ya mwili.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huujali vizuri mwili wake anapougua, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwahi kwenda hospitalini kwenda kupata vipimo na dawa za kuweza kumponyesha haraka, kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo wa kuujali vizuri mwili wake, maishani mwake. Yeye hupona haraka anapougua kwa sababu ya kuujali vizuri hivyo mwili wake huo kwa kuuwahisha hospitalini kila anapougua, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyelijali vizuri shamba lake kwa kulipalilia palizi mpaka akapata mazao kwenye familia yake, kwa sababu naye huujali vizuri mwili wake kwa kuuwahisha hospalini anapougua kwenda kupata vipimo na dawa za kumsaidia kupona haraka, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “ugojwa palizi ya mwili.”

Msemo huo, hufundisna watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuijali miili yao kwa kuiwahisha hopitalini kila wanapougua, ili waweze kupona haraka na kuishi kwa furaha maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: SICKNESS A WEED OF THE BODY.

Weed is an unwanted leave in a person’s field. This leave prevents crops from producing yields because they drain water. The owner of the field strives to weed his crops by cutting these leaves because they themselves suffocate his crops just as a disease makes the body of a sick person uncomfortable. That is why people say, “Sickness a weed of the body.”

This saying is matched to a person who takes good care of his body when he is sick in life. This person sometimes goes to the hospital for getting medicines which can heal him quickly, because of his courtesy for taking good care of his body in his life. He recovers quickly when he is sick because he takes good care of his body by going to the hospital every time when he is sick in his life.

This person is like the one who took good care of his field by weeding it until it yielded crops for his family, because he also takes good care of his body by going to the hospital when he is sick for geting medicines which can help him to recover quickly in his life. That is why he says that, “Sickness a weed of the body.”

This saying teaches people to be careful enough to take care of their bodies by going to the hospital whenever they are sick, so that they can recover quickly and live happily in their lives.

Uweyi agapandikaga sabho ningi aha kaya yake kunguno ya witegeleja bhokwe ubho gubhalanga abhanhu bhakwe gutumama milimo chiza, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule anayeelewa kuzifanya kazi zake vizuri, maishani mwake. Mtu huyo, huzifanya kazi zake kwa kuamuka asubuhi na kwenda kuyatakeleza majukumu yake mpaga anayamaliza vizuri kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo, katika maisha yake. Yeye hufanikiwa kupata mali nyingi kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo wa kuwafundisha watu wake juu ya kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yao, maishani mwao.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyeifanya vizuri kazi yake ya kuwasifu wale waliomuita, kwa sababu naye huyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yake mpaga anapata mali nyingi, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “manju alinisifu.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuyaelewa vizuri majukumu yao na kuyatekeleza vizuri, ili waweze kupata mali nyingi, katika kazi zao hizo.

ENGLISH: THE DANCE LEADER PRAISED ME.

There was a man who lived in a certain village in the administration of Uduhe. He was a dance group leader who was called to sing praises at someone’s wedding. He very well praised the people of that family. The owner of the town appreciated him by expressing his joyfulness to him. That is why he said that, “the dance leader praised me.”

This saying is equated to a person who understands how to do his works well in his life. Such person does his works by waking up in the morning and going to fulfill his duties until he finishes them well because of his focus in his life. He manages to get a lot of wealth in his family because of his attention in teaching his people on how to properly perform their duties in their lives.

This person is similar to the one who nicely did his job of praising those who called him, because he also performs his duties well to the point of getting a lot of wealth in his life. That is why people tell him that, “the dance leader praised me.”

This saying imparts in people a clue on being careful enough to understand their responsibilities to the point of performing them well, so that they can get a lot of wealth in their works.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikoloshaga bhanhu bhakali bho gubhibhengwa kunguno ya nhinda jakwe jinijo umukikalile kakwe. Uweyi agatulagwa mpaga uminyiwa na bhanhu abhakali bhenabho kunguno ya nhinda jakwe ija gubhitila libhengwe abhanhu bhenabho, umukikalile kakwe.

Mtu huyo hufanana na yule aliyevuta dawa kali ya ng’watya akapiga chafya, kwa sababu naye huwacholokoza watu ambao humzidi nguvu mpaka wanamuumiza, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “amepambana na Ng’watya.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuachana na kiburi cha kuchokoza hovyo watu wao, ili waweze kuishi kwa furaha kubwa maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: HE HAS FOUGHT WITH “NG’WATYA.” (SUKUMA TRADITIONAL NAME OF A MADICINAL TREE).

Ng’watya is a Sukuma name which is given to a strong medicinal tree. Such medicine is so strong that if someone inhales it, will sneeze because of its severity. That is why people tell the person who inhales it that, “He has fought with Ng’watya.”

This saying is matched to a person who provokes people who overpower him to the point of hurting him, in his life. Such person provokes stronger people than him by looking down on them because of his egotism. He is beaten until he is hurt by those people who are stronger than him, because of his arrogance of despising people in his life.

This person resembles the one who inhaled a strong medicinal tree until he sneezed, because he also irritates people who defeat him to the point of hurting him in his life. That is why people tell him that, “he has fought with Ng’watya.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of ending pride of recklessly provoking their people, so that they can happily live in their lives.

Watu hao hufanana na hao wapekuzi kwa sababu nao huwafundisha watu wao juu ya kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao vizuri maishani mwao. Ndiyo maana watu huwaita kwamba ni “watatutaji wa pekua pekua.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao kwa bidii kubwa, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: CANVASSERS OF SEARCHERS

Canvassers are chicken that search for food by pecking on the ground. Foragers are chicken scavengers because of that kind of constant seeking lifestyle of their needs. That is why people call them “canvassers of searchers.”

This proverb is equaled to married people who teach their children on how to find basic needs by themselves in their lives. Those married people teach their children on how to wake up in the morning and do their jobs well because of their good responsiveness enough to work well. They nurture their children by giving them necessary knowledge for working well because of their effort to nicely do their works every time in their lives.

These people are similar to the constant food searching of chicken  because they also teach their people on how to work hard in doing their jobs. That is why people call them “canvassers of searchers.”

This proverb teaches people on how to force themselves in doing their works with great effort, so that they can acquire a lot of success in their lives.
