1399. NAJIKANDILE JUMONDA.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako ihoyelile bhukandi bho bhusu bho ngano. Olihoyi munhu uyo okandaga bhusu bho ngano ub’o bhugakandwa mpaga bhomonda na wigelelwa guzugwa mandazi, chapati na migate. Hunagwene umunhu ng’wunuyo agayombaga giki “najikandandilile jumonda.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo alindamu ugutumama milimo yakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agigulambijaga gutumama milimo yakwe bho nguvu ningi na bhukamu bhutale kunguno ya bhutungilija bhokwe mpaga onamhala naonaga lulu uguitumama imilimo yiniyo. Uweyi agapandikaga matwajo mingi aha kaya yakwe kunguno ya bhukamu bhunubho ubho gutumama milimo yakwe bho nguvu ningi, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo agakanda bhusu bho ngano mpaga bhumonda bho gwikoma guzugwa mandazi, chapati na migate, kunguno nuweyi agatumamaga milimo yakwe mpaga opandika matwajo mingi, umuwikaji bhokwe. “hunagwene agayombaga giki, “najikandile jumonda.”

Akahahile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na bhutungilija bho gwigulambija gutumama milimo yabho bho nguvu ningi, kugiki bhadule kupandika matwajo gagubhambilija ugujibheja chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

 KISWAHILI: NIMEUKANDA UKALAINIKA.

Chanzo cha msemo huo huongelea juu ya unga wa ngano.  Alikuwepo mtu aliyekuwa akitengeneza unga huo wa ngano kwa kuukanda mpaka ukalainika kiasi cha kutosha kutumika kwa kupikia maandazi, chapati na mikate. Ndiyo maana alisema kwamba, “nimeukanda ukalainika.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni mkakamavu wa kufanya kazi katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hujibidisha kufanya kazi zake kwa nguvu nyingi na kwa bidii kubwa kwa sababu ya uaminifu wake huo, mpaga anazeeka ndipo anachoka kuzifanya kazi hizo. Yeye hupata mafanikio mengi katika familia yake kwa sababu ya bidii yake hiyo ya kufanya kazi zake kwa nguvu nyingi, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo hufanana na yule aliyekanda unga wa ngano mpaga ukalainika kiasi chakutosha kutumika kwa kupikia maandazi, chapati na mikate, kwa sababu naye hufanya kazi zake kwa nguvu mpaka anapata mafanikio mengi maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “nimeukanda ukalainika.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na uaminifu wa kujibidisha kuyatekeleza majukumu yao kwa nguvu nyingi, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi ya kuwasaidia katika kuziendeleza vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: “I KNEADED IT UNTIL IT WAS SOFT.”

The origin of this saying is about wheat flour. There was a person who was making wheat flour by kneading it until it was soft enough to be used for baking buns, and bread. That is why he said that, “I kneaded it until it was soft.”

This saying is matched to a person who is hardworking in his life. This person, exerts himself to do his work with great strength and diligence because of his loyalty, when he gets old he gets tired of doing those jobs. He achieves a lot of success in his family because of his diligence in doing his works with great strength, in his life.

This person resembles the one who kneaded wheat flour until it was soft enough to be used for baking buns, and bread, because he also works hard until he achieves a lot of success in his life. That is why he says that, “I kneaded it until it was soft.”

This saying instills in people a clue of being honest and hard working enough to nicely fulfill their responsibilities, so that they can achieve countless successes which can help them in developing their family lives.

1398. UMUNHU UYU AGIMINYAGA WEYI NG’WINIKILI.

Olihoyi munhu uyo olina nguzu ningi umuchalo ja Ngeme. Umunhu ng’wunuyo abhuchaga miligo midito mpaga oyukoya ugusiminza kunguno ya wihadikija bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agayukeleja nose ugumisha kunguno ya bhunoge bho gubhucha miligo midito yiniyo. Hunagwene nose abhanhu bhagayuyomba giki, “umunhu uyu agiminyaga weyi ng’winikili.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agatumamaga milimo midito bho nduhu ugugusatwa umili gokwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agatumamaga milimo midito gwingila diyu mpaga mhindi kunguno ya gukija ugugusatwa umili gokwe gunuyo, umubhutumami bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agikalaga anogile bhuli makanza kunguno ya gutumama milimo midimu yiniyo bho nduhu ugugusatwa umili gokwe gunuyo, umuwikaji bhokwe.

KISWAHILI: MTU HUYU HUJIUMIZA YEYE MWENYEWE.

Alikuwepo mtu aliyekuwa na nguvu nyingi katika kijiji cha Ngeme. Mtu huyo alikuwa akibeba mizigo mizito mpaka anaanza kutembea kwa shida kwa sababu ya kujilazimisha kubeba mizigo hiyo. Yeye alifikia hatua ya kuchelewa kuamuka asubuhi kwa sababu ya uchovu huo wa kubeba mizigo mizito, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana mwishowe watu walisema kwamba, “mtu huyo hujiumiza yeye mwenyewe.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hufanya kazi bila ya kuuhurumia mwili wake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hufanya kazi nzito kuanzia asubuhi hadi jioni kwa sababu ya kukosa umakini wa kuuhurumia mwili wake huo, katika kazi zake. Yeye huwa ana uchovu kila wakati kwa sababu ya kufanya kazi hizo ngumu bila ya kuuhurumia mwili wake huo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyebeba mizigo mizito mpaka akaanza kutembea kwa shida, kwa sababu naye hufanya kazi ngumu mpaka analala akiwa amechoka sana, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “mtu huyu hujiumiza yeye mwenyewe.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuilinda miili yao wanapofanya kazi zao, ili waweze kuishi kwa furaha katika familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THIS MAN HURTS HIMSELF.

There was a man who was so strong in the village of Ngeme. He used to carry heavy maize sacks until he started walking with difficulty because of forcing himself to carry those sacks. He reached the point of waking up late in the morning because of the fatigue of carrying those heavy maize sacks, in his life. That is why people said about him that, “this man hurts himself.”

This saying is equated to a person who works without pitying his body, in his life. This person, does heavy works from morning to evening because of the lack of decent attention enough to pity his body, in his works. He is always tired because of doing those hard jobs without pitying his body, in his life.

This person resembles the one who carried heavy maize sacks until he started walking with difficulty, because he also works hard until he goes to bed very tired, in his life. That is why people say about him that, “this man hurts himself.”

This saying instills in people an idea of being watchful enough to protect their bodies while doing their jobs, so that they can live happily in their families, in their lives.

1391. AGALILAGA ULU WIZA HA WELELO.

Akahayile kenako kingilile kuli ng’wana uyo obyalagwa. Ung’wana ng’wunuyo agalilaga ulu obyalwa kunguno wingilaga muweja umo adamanilile. Uweyi agalombaga wambilijiwa kuli msumbi okwe kunguno wandyaga wikaji bhupya kugiki adule gwikala mhola. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagahaga giki, “agalilaga ulu wiza ha welelo.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agalombaga wambilija kuli Mulungu ulu wandyaga nimo gupya umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agandyaga imilimo yakwe imipya bho gunomba Mulungu kunguno ya guzunya gokwe gutale ukubhudula bho Nsumbi okwe, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi apandikaga matwajo mingi umumilimo yakwe imipya yiniyo, kunguno ya kunomba Mulungu aho alandya uguitumama, umukikalile kakwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nu ng’wana uyo agalombaga wambilijiwa kuli nsumbi okwe bho gulila ulu obyalwa, kunguno nuweyi agalombaga wambilijiwa kuli Mulungu ulu alandya uguitumama imilimo yakwe imipya yiniyo, umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “agalilaga ulu wiza ha welelo.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kulomba wambilijiwa kuli Mulungu ulu bhalandya uguitumama imilimo yabho, kugiki bhadule gupandika matwajo mingi umutumami bho milimo yabho yiniyo, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: HULIA ANAPOKUJA DUNIANI.

Msemo huo ulianzia kwa mtoto aliyezaliwa. Mtoto huyo hulia baada ya kuzaliwa kwa sababu ameingia ulimwengu ambamo hajazoea. Yeye huomba msaada kwa muumba wake kwa sababu ameanza maisha mpya kwake ili aweze kuyamudu vizuri. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “hulia anapokuja duniani.”

Msema huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huomba msaada kwa Mungu anapoanza kazi mpya, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huanza kazi mpya kwa kumuomba Mungu kwa sababu ya imani yake kubwa kwenye uwezo wa Muumba wake maishani mwake. Yeye hupata mafanikio mengi katika kazi zake hizo mpya, kwa sababu ya kumuomba Mungu anapoanza kuzifanya kazi zake hizo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo hufanana na yule mtoto ambaye huomba msaada kwa Muumba wake kwa kulia baada ya kuzaliwa, kwa sababu naye huomba msaada kwa Muumba wake anapoanza kufanya kazi zake hizo mpya, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “hulia anapokuja duniani.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuomba msaada kwa Mungu wanapoanza kuyatekeleza majukumu yao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi katika utendaji wao wa kazi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: HE CRIES WHEN HE COMES INTO THE WORLD.

This saying is originated from a newborn baby. The newborn baby cries after birth because of entering into new world which it is not used to. It asks for help from the creator because of starting a new independent life so that it can nicely cope with it. That is why people say that, “he cries when he comes into the world.”

This saying is associated to a person who asks for help from God when he starts a new job, in his life. Such person, starts a new job by asking God because of his great faith in the power of his Creator in his life. He achieves great success in his new jobs, because of depending on God when he starts doing them, in his life.

This person resembles the child who asks for help from his Creator by crying after birth, because he also asks for help from his Creator when he starts doing new jobs, in his life. That is why people say to him that, “he cries when he comes into the world.”

This proverb teaches people about asking God for help when they begin to carry out their duties, so that they can achieve great success in their lives.

Alihoyi munhu uyo agangulila ng’hanjo ng’wana okwe. Aliyo lulu ung’wana okwe ng’wunuyo agaduma uguizwala aho winhiwa ing’hanjo yiniyo kunguno oliadaimanile. Hunagwene umyaji okwe ng’wunuyo agang’wila giki, “iyiniyo ng’hanjo izwalilage guntwe.”

Akahayike kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kubhatongezi abho bhagabhatongelaga chiza abhanhu bhabho umukikalile kabho. Abhanhu bhenabho bhagalitumilaga ilikanza lyabho bho gubhalanga abhanhu bhabho akatumamile ka jikolo jabho bho gwikala chiza na bhanhu, kunguno ya bhutungilija bhobho bhunubho, umuwikaji bhobho.  Abhoyi bhagikalaga na bhuyegi bhutale umuchalo jabho kunguno ya gubhatongela chiza abhanhu bhabho bhenabho umubhutongeji bhobho.

Abhatongeji bhenabho bhagikolaga nu myaji uyo agananga ng’wana okwe guzwala ng’hanjo chiza, kunguno nabhoyi bhagabhalangaga abhanhu bhabho ugujitumamila chiza ijikolo jabho bho gwikala chiza na bhanhu, umuwikaji bhobho. Hunagwene bhagabhawilaga abhanhu bhabho giki, “iyiniyo ng’hanjo izwalilage guntwe.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhatongeji higulya ya kubhalanga abhanhu bhabho nzila ja gujitumamila chiza isabho jabho bho gwikala chiza na bhabho, kugiki bhadule gwikala na bhuyegi bhutale umubhutongeji bhobho bhunubho.

KISWAHILI: HIYO NI KANZU IVALIE KICHWANI.

Alikuwepo mtu mmoja aliyemununulia mtoto wake kanzu. Lakini mtoto huyo alishindwa kuivaa hiyo kanzu kwa sababu alikuwa hajaifahamu. Ndiyo maana mzazi wake huyo alimfundisha namna ya kuivaa kwa kumwambia kwamba, “hiyo ni kanzu ivalie kichwani.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa viongozi wale ambao huwaongoza vizuri watu wao, katika maisha yao. Viongozi hayo, huutumia muda wao kwa kuwafundisha watu wao namna na kuvitumia vizuri mali zao kwa kuishi vizuri na watu, kwa sababu ya uaminifu wao huo. Wao huishi kwa furaha kubwa katika nchi zao kwa sababu ya kuwafundisha watu wao namna ya kuzitumia mali zao kwa kuishi vizuri na watu wao, katika uongozi wao.

Viongozi hao hufanana na yule mzazi aliyemfundiswa mtoto wake namna ya kuivaa vizuri kanzu yake, kwa sababu nao huwafundisha watu wao namna ya kuvitumia vitu vyao kwa kuishi vizuri na watu wao, maishani mwao. Ndiyo maana wao huwaambia watu wao kwamba, “hiyo ni kanzu ivalie kichwani.”

Msemo huo hufundisha viongozi juu ya kuwafundisha wao namna ya kuzitumami mali zao kwa kuishi vizuri na watu wao, ili waweze kuwa na furaha kubwa katika uongozi wao.

ENGLISH: THAT IS A COAT WEAR IT ON THE HEAD.

There was a man who bought his son a coat. But the son failed to wear the coat because he did not know it. That is why his parent taught him on how to wear it by telling him that, “that is a coat wear it on the head.”

This saying is matched to those leaders who lead their people well, in their lives. These leaders spend their time by teaching their people on how to use their wealth well to live well with the people, because of their loyalty. They live very happily in their countries because they teach their people on how to use their wealth well enough to live well with their people in their leadership.

These leaders are like the parent who taught his son on how to wear his coat well, because they also teach their people on how to use their possessions enough to live well with their people, in their lives. That is why they tell their people that, “that is a coat wear it on the head.”

This proverb imparts in leaders an idea on how to manage their resources by living well with their people, so that they can have great joy in their leadership.

1369. LYANG’ENG’ENYA LYA NG’WANAGASEMELA.

Aho kale olihoyi ngikulu uyo witanagwa Ng’wanagasemela. Ung’wanagasemela ng’wunuyo oli na kaya yakwe iyo wikalaga weyi na bhizukulu bhakwe. Ikaya yiniyo ikalaga na makoye ga gubhiza na nzala nhale bhuli ng’waka. Bhuli ng’wene uyo ojaga aha kaya yiniyo agingaga adalile. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagaihaya ikaya yiniyo giki, “lyang’eng’enya lya Ng’wanagasemela.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa ku kaya ya bhanhu abho bhadatumamaga milimo yabho chiza, umukikalile kabho. Abhanhu bhenabho, bhagikalaga bhigashije duhu nulu lyashigaga ilikanza lya gulima kunguno ya bhugokolo bho gutumama milimo yabho bhunubho. Abhoyi bhagikalaga bhukoya na nzala nhale bhuli ng’waka aha kaya yabho yiniyo, kunguno ya bhugokolo bho guleka gutumama milimo yabho ahikanza lya gulima, umuwikaji bhobho bhunubho.

Ikaya ya bhanhu bhenabho igikolaga ni ya ngikulu uyo okoyaga na nzala nhale bhuli ng’waka aha kaya yakwe, kunguno na bhoyi bhagikala bhukoya na nzala yiniyo iyagugayiwa jiliwa bhuli ng’waka aha kaya yabho yiniyo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayihayaga ikaya yabho yiniyo giki, “lyang’eng’enya lya Ng’wanagasemela.”

KISWAHILI: HALI NGUMU YA NG’WANAKASEMELA.

Hapo zamani alikuwepo bibi kizee aliyeitwa Ng’anakasemela. Ng’wanakasemela huyo, alikuwa na familia yake aliyoishi yeye na wajukuu zake. Familia hiyo ilikuwa ikisumbuliwa na tatizo la njaa kila mwaka. Kila mtu aliyeenda kwenye familia hiyo alitoka pale bila kula chakula. Ndiyo maana watu waliisema familia hiyo kuwa ni “hali ngumu ya Ng’wanakasemela.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwenye familia ya watu wale ambao huwa hawafanyi kazi zao vizuri, katika maisha yao. Watu hao, huwa wamekaa tu hata  wakati wa kulima ukiwa umefika kwa sababu ya uvivu wao huo wa kufanya kazi zao. Wao hukumbwa na tatizo la njaa kwenye familia yao kila mwaka kwa sababu ya uvivu wao huo wa kuacha kufanya kazi wakati wa kilimo, maishani mwao.

Familia wa watu hao, hufanana na yile ya bibi kizee aliyesumbuliwa na tatizo la njaa kila mwaka, kwa sababu nao hukumbwa na tatizo la kukosa chakula kwenye familia yao hiyo kila mwaka. Ndiyo maana watu huisema familia hiyo kuwa ni “hali ngumu ya Ng’wanakasemela.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao vizuri ili waweze kupata chakula cha kutosha kuwalisha wanafamilia wao, wakati wote wa uhai wao.

ENGLISH: THE DIFFICULT SITUATION OF NG’WANAKASEMELA.

Once upon a time, there was an old lady named Ng’anakasemela. Such Ng’wanakasemela had a family where she and her grandchildren lived. Her family was plagued by hunger every year. Everyone who went to that family left it without eating. That is why people called that family “the difficult situation of Ng’wanakasemela.”

This saying is compared to a family of people who do not work well in their lives. These people just sit around even when it is time to farm because of their laziness in doing their works. They suffer from hunger in their family every year because of their laziness of staying without working during farming time in their lives.

This family is similar to that of the old lady who suffered from hunger every year, because they also suffer from problem of lacking food in their family every year. That is why people refer to the family as “the difficult situation of Ng’wanakasemela.”

This saying teaches people of working hard enough to do their jobs well so that they can have enough food for feeding their family members, throughout their lives.
