1180. ULINOGELA JIB’ELE.

Olihoyi munhu uyo agalima lishamba lya bhulubha bihi na nzila. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, ulimaga gwingila diyu mpaga mhindi kunguno ya bhukamu bhokwe bhunubho. Aliyo lulu, uweyi lyashigaga likanza uyulima hado hado kunguno ya bhunoge bho bhugugutumama likanza lilihu unimo gokwe gunuyo. Hunagwene abhanhu abho bhabhitaga aha nzila yiniyo, bhagang’wila giki, “ulinogela jib’ele.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agiyumilijaga gutumama nimo ndamu mpaga ogumala chiza, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikomejaga kutumama milimo yakwe bho gwingila diyu mpaga mhindi kunguno aidebhile isolobho ya milimo yakwe yiniyo, aha shigu ijahabhutongi. KISWAHILI: UNACHOKA KWA FAIDA.

Alikuwepo mtu aliyelima shamba la pamba karibu na njia. Mtu huyo, alikuwa akilima shambani mwake humo kuanzia asubuhi hadi jioni. Lakini ulifika wakati, akawa analima pole pole kwa sababu ya uchovu wa kufanya kazi yake hiyo kwa muda mrefu. Ndiyo maana watu waliokuwa wakipita kwenye njia hiyo, walimwambia kwamba, “unachoka kwa faida.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huvumilia kufanya kazi ngumu mpaka anaimaliza, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hujibidisha kufanya kazi zake kuanzia asubuhi hadi jioni kwa sababu anazielewa faida za kazi hizo, katika siku za mbeleni. Yeye hupata mali yenye thamani ya kuwa na vitu vingi sana kwenye familia yake, kwa sababu ya uvumilivu wake huo wa kufanya kazi mpaka anaimaliza vizuri, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule mkulima wa pamba aliyelima kuanzia asubuhi hadi jioni, kwa sababu naye hujibidisha kufanya kazi zake kwa uvumilivu kuanzia asubuhi hadi anazimaliza vizuri, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “unachoka kwa faida.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kufanya kazi zao kwa uvumilivu mpaga wanazimaliza vizuri, ili waweze kupata mafanikio ya kuwa na mali nyingi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: YOU ARE GETTING TIRED FOR PROFITS

There was a man who cultivated a cotton field near a pathway. Such man was farming in his field from morning to evening. But when the time came, he was slowly plowing because of the fatigue of doing his work for a long time. That is why the people who were passing by that way, told him that, “you are getting tired for profits.”

This proverb is compared to the person who endures doing hard work until he finishes it, in his life. Such person tries to do his work from morning to evening because he understands the benefits of such work in the future. He gets a valuable asset enough to have many things in his family, because of his patience of working until he finishes it well, in his life.

This person is similar to the cotton farmer who cultivated from morning to evening, because he also has to do his work patiently from morning until he finishes it well, in his life. That is why people tell him that, “you are getting tired for profits.”

This proverb, teaches people about doing their works with patience until they finish them well, so that they can get the success of having a lot of wealth in their lives.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agiyolechaga guti owiza ubho gunhola aliyo agiganikaga miganiko mab’i umunholo yakwe, kunguno ya miito gakwe aga bhub’i genabho. Uweyi agenhelejaga bhanhu gwikenya aha kaya yakwe, kunguno ya miito gakwe aga bhub’i genayo, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu nyembe uyo goli gusoga ihanze aliyo gubholile umugati yago, kunguno nuweyi ali ni hanga lya wiza aliyo amiito gakwe gali ga bhub’i, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “bhusoga wikob’a, munda b’ub’ole.”

Methali hiyo, huangalia uzuri wa nje ya kitu fulani na ubaya uliyopo ndani yake. Alikuwepo mtu ambaye aliliona embe zuri sana mpaka akaamua kulichuma ili alile kwa sababu ya uzuri wake huo wa nje. Alipolimenya embe hilo, aligundua kwamba, kumbe lilikuwa limeoza ndani yake. Ndiyo maana alisema kwamba, “uzuri wa ngozi, tumboni uozo.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana sura nzuri lakini matendo yake ni maovu, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hujionesha kwa nje kuwa ni mzuri, lakini hufikiria mawazo mabaya katika moyo wake, kwa sababu ya matendo yake hayo maovu. Yeye hugombanisha watu walioko kwenye familia yake, kwa sababu ya matendo yake hayo maovu, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na lile embe lililoonekana zuri kwa nje, lakini ndani yake lilikuwa limeoza, kwa sababu naye ana sura nzuri, lakini matendo yake ni maovu, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “uzuri wa ngozi, tumboni uozo.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha mwenendo wa kutenda maovu, kwa kutenda mema, ili waweze kuishi kwa amani, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: BEAUTY OF THE SKIN, ROT IN THE STOMACH.

This proverb looks at the beauty which is outside of something and an ugliness of an inside of it. There was a man who saw a mango that was so beautiful that he decided to pick it to eat because of its external beauty. When he peeled it, he realized that it was rotten inside. That is why he said that, “beauty of the skin, rot in the stomach.”

This proverb is related to a person who has a good appearance but his actions are evil in his life. Such person shows himself to be good on the outside, but thinks evil thoughts in his heart, because of his wicked deeds. He quarrels the people in his family, because of his evil deeds, in his life.

This person is like a mango that looked good on the outside, but inside it was rotten, because he also shows a good face, but his actions are evil, in his life. That is why people tell him that, “beauty of the skin, rot in the stomach.”

This proverb imparts in people an idea of stopping doing evil by doing good, so that they can peacefully live with their societal members in lives.

1178. NULU UGADIMA UGUTYUJA.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, alintungilija aliyo lulu agahubhiyagwa na bhiye abho bhali na nhungwa ja bhubhi kunguno agayelaga nabho, umubhutumami milimo yakwe yiniyo. Uweyi agapandikaga mamihayo gagwenhelejiwa na bhiye bhenabho abha miito gabhubhi, kunguno ya gwikala nabho, umubhutumami bhokwe bhunubho.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agatyuja ugwa hasi aliyo oliodima, kunguno nuweyi alintungilija aliyo agahubhaga bho gwenhelejiwa na bhiye, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene agayombaga giki, “nulu ugadima ugutyuja.”

Ulusumo lunulo lolanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na witegeleja bho gwilalanhana na bhanhu abho, bhagatumamaga milimo yabho kugiki bhadizuhubhibhiwa nabho, umuwikaji bho bhutungilija bhobho bhunubho.

Mwanzo 3:1-7.

KISWAHILI: HATA UKISHIKA UTATELEZA.

Methali hiyo, humuongelea mtu aliyekuwa ameshikilia kwenye mti akateleza na kuanguka chini. Mtu huyo, alipanda kwenye mti wa miembe ili achume maembe ya kula. Kwa bahati mbaya aliteleza akaanguka chini, pamoja na kwamba alikuwa ameshikilia vizuri. Ndiyo maana alisema kwamba, “hata ukishika utateleza.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hukosea kwa kusababishwa na wenzake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, ni mwanamifu ambaye hukosea kwa kusababishwa na wenzake wenye mtendo maovu kwa sababu ya kutembea nao, katika kazi zake. Yeye hupata matatizo ya kusababishwa na wenzake hao wenye matendo maovu, kwa sababu ya kufanya kazi pamoja nao, katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyekuwa ameshika kwenye mti akateleza na kuanguka chini, kwa sababu naye ni mwaminifu, ambaye hukosea kwa kusababishwa na wenzake ambao wana matendo maovu, katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “hata ukishika utateleza.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kujilinda na watu wanaofanya kazi pamoja nao, ili wasikoseswe na wao, katika maisha yao hao ya uaminifu.

Mwanzo 3:1-7.

ENGLISH: EVEN IF YOU HOLD ON YOU WILL SLIP.

The overhead proverb speaks of a man who was holding on to a tree who slipped and fell down. This man climbed a mango tree in order to pick mangoes to eat. Unfortunately he slipped and fell to the ground, even though he was holding on well. That is why he said that, “even if you hold on, you will slip.”

This proverb is equated to a person who makes a mistake because of his nobles, in his life. Such person is a miscreant who errs because of his colleagues who do evil because of being with them, in his work. He gets problems which are caused by those colleagues who have evil deeds, because of working with them, in carrying out of his duties.

This person is similar to the one who was holding on to a tree who slipped and fell down, because he is also honest, who errs because of his colleagues who have wicked deeds, in the enactment of his duties. That is why he says that, “even if you hold on, you will slip.”

This proverb teaches people on how to be careful enough to protect themselves and the people who work with them, so that they are not wronged by them, in their honest lives.

Uweyi agandya gugutumama unimo gunuyo mpaga ugumala wangu na bhushiga abhiye bhenabho. Hunagwene agabhawila aho bhashiga giki, “ng’wasanga lyab’elwa iliwe.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo usabha majikolo mingi haho atali ugubyala abhana bhakwe, aha kaya yake yiniyo, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, wigulambijaga gutumama milimo yakwe mpaga opandika sabho ijo ojilanhanaga chiza, kunguno ya witegeleja bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agasabha majikolo mingi noyi aha kaya yakwe yiniyo haho atali ugupandika abhana, kunguno ya bhukamu bho gutumama milimo chiza bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo agalib’inzagula iliwe bho nguzu jakwe, haho bhatali abhiye ugwiza, kunguno nuweyi agigulambijaga gutumama milimo chiza mpaga osabha majikolo mingi haho atali ugubyala abhana aha kaya yakwe yiniyo. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhana bhakwe giki, “ng’wasansa lyab’elwa iliwe.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lolanga bhabyaji higulya ya gwigulambija gutumama milimo ya gubhapandikila sabho ja gubhambilija abhana bhabho chiza, kugiki bhadule gwikala na bhuyeji umu kaya jabho.

KISWAHILI: MUMEKUTA JIWE LIMEVUNJWA.

Methali hiyo, huongelea juu ya uvunjaji wa jiwe. Uvunjaji huo, ulifanywa na mtu mmoja aliyekuwa na nguvu nyingi za kuweza kulivunja jiwe hilo kabla ya wengine kufika kwenye kazi hiyo. Yeye alianza kuifanya kazi hiyo mpaka akaimaliza haraka ndipo wakafika wenzake. Ndiyo maana yeye aliwaambia kwamba, “mumekuta jiwe limevunjwa.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ametajirika kwa kupata mali nyingi kabla ya kupata watoto, kwenye familia yake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hujibidisha kufanya kazi vizuri mpaga onapata mali ambazo huzitunza vizuri, kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo. Yeye hutajirika kwa kupata mali nyingi sana kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya bidii yake ya kufanya kazi, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule mtu mwenye nguvu aliyelipasua jiwe peke yake kabla wenzake hawajafika, kwa sababu naye hujibidisha kufanya kazi mpaka anapata mali nyingi, kabla ya kupata watoto katika familia yake. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watoto wake kwamba, “mumekuta jiwe limevunjwa.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha wazazi juu ya kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao vizuri mpaka wapate mali za kutoka kuwaachia watoto wao, ili waweze kuishi kwa furaha, katika familia zao.

ENGLISH: YOU FOUND THE STONE BROKEN.

This proverb speaks of breaking a stone. Such breaking was done by one person who had a lot of power to break it before others had arrived at the work. He started doing the work until he finished it quickly and then his colleagues arrived. That is why he told them that, “you have found the stone broken.”

This proverb is compared to a person who has become rich by getting a lot of wealth before having children, in his family. Such person tries to work well when he finds assets that he takes good care of, because of his attention. He becomes rich by getting a lot of wealth in his family because of his hard working activities, in his life.

This person is similar to the strong man who split the stone alone before his companions had arrived, because he also has to work until he gets a lot of wealth, before having children in his family. That is why he tells his children that, “you have found the stone broken.”

This proverb teaches parents to work hard in doing their jobs well until they have enough assets to leave to their children, so that they can live happily in their families.

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agapelanaga bho nduhu uguyangulwa nulu okenyiyagwa hadoo duhu, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agapelanaga wangu nulu ukenyiyagwa bho kamhayo kadoo duhu, kunguno ya bhukali bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agabhakoyaga abhanhu bha ha kaya yakwe kunguno ya gulema guyangulwa bhuli makanza ulu upelanaga, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga ni ndulu iyo igakumiyaga hadoo duhu yatanduka mpaga yayiluja pye inyama, kunguno nuweyi agakenyiyagwa hadoo duhu opelana mpaga olema uguyangulwa umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “yapyaga indulu.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lolanga bhanhu higulya ya kuleka upelanu bho gulema guyangulya ulu bhakenyiyagwa nulu hadoo duhu, kugiki bhadule gujilela chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

Yenyewe huiharibu hivyo hiyo nyama yote, asipokuwa na uangalifu mchunaji wa mnyama huyo. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “nyongo imeiva.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hukasirika upesi mpaka kufikia hatua ya kukataa kuamriwa hata anapokesowa kwa jambo dogo tu, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hukasirishwa haraka na hata kwa jambo dogo tu, na kukataa kuamriwa kwa sababu ya hasira yake hiyo. Yeye huwahangaisha watu wa kwenye familia yake hiyo, kwa sababu ya ukali wake huo wa kukataa kuamriwa na wenzake, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na ile nyongo ambayo huguswa kidogo na kupasuka mpaka inaiharibu nyama yote, kwa sababu naye hukasirishwa hata na jambo dogo tu, na kukataa kuamriwa, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “nyongo imeiva.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha hasira ya kukasirika upesi kwa sababu ya jambo dogo tu na kukataa kuamriwa, ili waweze kuzilea vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THE GALL IS RIPE.

This proverb speaks of a ripen gall. The gall is found in a stomach of livestock, which makes the meat bitter if it bursts inside while slaughtering the animal. It itself destroys all the meat, if the slaughterer of such animal is not so careful. That is why people say that, “the gall is ripe.”

This proverb is compared to the person who gets angry quickly to the point of refusing to be ordered even when he is wronged in a small thing, in his life. Such person, gets angry quickly and even in a small thing that he refuses to be ordered because of his anger. He worries the people in his family, because of his harshness in refusing to be ordered by his colleagues, in his life.

This person is like the gall that is touched a little and bursts until it destroys all the meat, because he also gets angry even in a small thing to the point of refusing to be ordered, in his life. That is why people speak about him that, “the gall is ripe.”

This proverb teaches people about stopping getting angry quickly because of a small thing to the point of refusing to be ordered by others, so that they can raise their families well, in their lives.
