814. BHUBHING’HOLO BHUGANANULAGA ABHANHU.

Ubhubhing’holo jili jito ja gung’wima ginhu umunhu uyo alina makoye. Umunhu uyo alina makoye ng’winuyo, adulile nulu gunanuka bho gucha na nzala aliyo ijiliwa jilihoyi, kunguno ya wiming’holo bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “bhubhing’holo bhugananulaga abhanhu.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo alina ng’holo ya bhubhi, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agalemaga ugubhinha ijiliwa ijo alinajo, abhanhu abho bhalina makoye, kunguno ya wiming’holo bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agabhalekaga bho nduhu ugubhambilija abho bhali na makoye bhenabho, mpaka nose bhananuka aliyo isabho alinajo, umuwikaji bhokwe.

KISWAHILI: UCHOYO HUUA WATU.

Uchoyo ni kitendo cha kumunyima kitu mtu aliyekumbwa na matatizo. Mtu huyo, mwenye matatizo, huweza hata kupoteza maisha kwa kukosa chakula, pamoja na chakula hicho kuwepo, kwa sababu ya uchoyo huo. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “uchoyo huua watu.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana roho mbaya, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hukataa kuwasaidia wenzake walioko kwenye matatizo ya kukosa chakula hata kama ancho chakula hicho, kwa sababu ya uchoyo wake huo. Yeye huwaacha bila kuwasaidia watu hao, ambao mwishowe huwa wanafikia hatua ya kupoteza maisha, wakati mali anazo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule ambaye ni mchoyo aliyekataa kuwasaidia wenye shida, kwa sababu naye ana roho mbaya isiyowaonea huruma wenzake hao walioko kwenye matatizo mbalimbali, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “uchoyo huua watu.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuachana na roho ya uchoyo, kwa kuwasaidiana wenzao waliokumbwa na matatizo, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuyaokoa na kuyalinda maisha ya wenzao hao.

ENGLISH: GREED KILLS PEOPLE.

Covetousness is an act of denying supporting someone who has problems. This person who has problems may even lose life because of lacking food and other basic needs, despite the food being present, just because of that greed. That is why people say that “greed kills people.”

This saying is likened to a person who has an unkind spirit in life. This person refuses to help his/her colleagues who are suffering from malnutrition, even though he/she has plenty of food because of his/her greed. He/she leaves them without helping those people, who eventually reach the point of losing their lives, while possessions are present in the house.

This person is like the greedy person who refuses to help the needy, because he/she has a bad spirit that does not show compassion to those who are great need of help. That is why people say that “greed kills people.”

This proverb imparts in people an idea of stopping a spirit of greed, by helping each other in trouble, in their lives, so that they can save and protect the lives of their family members.

Ubhuta jili jilanga ja julasila bho guponya masonga ubho bhukikalaga bhudimanile na luge. Ubhuta bhunubho, bhugafumilaga mulinti ilo ligabhejiyagwa chiza mpaka likoma gutungwa na luge.

Uluge lunulo, lugabhizaga lugoye ulo lugatungagwa mpaga lobhugonda ubhuta bho gudimila isonga. Uloyi lugatumamaga nimo kihamo nu bhuta bhunubho, bho nduhu ugulekana. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “bhuta bhudimanile na luge.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kubhitoji abho bhagikalaga kihamo, umukikalile kabho. Abhanhu bhenabho, bhagatumamaga bho gwiyambilija chiza imilimo yabho, umukikalile kabho. Abhoyi bhagapandikaga matwajo mingi noyi, kunguno ya bhumo bhobho bhunubho, umuwikaji bhobho.

Abhanhu bhenabho, bhagikolaga nu bhulumani bho bhuta nu luge, kunguno  na bhoyi bhagikalaga bhalumanile kihamo, umuwikaji bhobho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagabhawilaga giki, “bhuta bhudimanile na luge.”

KISWAHILI: UPINDE HUSHIKANA NA KAMBA.

Upinde ni silaha ya kurushia mishale ambayo huwa imeungana na kamba. Upinde huo, hutokana  na mti uliokatwa na kutengenezwa vizuri mpaka ukafikia hatua ya kufungwa kamba.

Kamba hiyo, huwa ni muunganiko wa nyuzi zilizoshonwa vizuri ambayo hufungwa kiasi cha kutosha kuukunja ule upinde inapotumiwa kuushikilia mshale. Yenyewe hufanya kazi pamoja na upinde bila kuachana nao. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “upinde hushikana na kamba.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa wana ndoa ambao huishi kwa kushirikiana pamoja, katika maisha yao. Watu hao, huyatekeleza majukumu yao kwa kusaidiana vizuri, katika maisha yao. Wao hupata mafanikio mengi sana kwa sababu ya kuutunza umoja wao huo uliogengwa kwenye muungano wao huo wa ndoa, maishani mwao.

Watu hao, hufanana na muungano ulioko kati ya upinde na kamba, kwa sababu nao huishi kwa kusaidiana wakiwa wameungano pamoja katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao, maishani mwao. Ndiyo maana watu huwaambia kwamba, “upinde hushikana na kamba.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha wana ndoa juu ya kuishi wakiwa wameungana pamoja kwa kusaidiana katika kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THE BOW IS ATTACHED TO ITS STRING.

A bow is a weapon which is connected to a cord for shooting arrows. It is made of a well-cut and well-formed tree which is bent by that cord while shooting arrows during the hunting time.

This cord is a combination of finely woven fibers that are tied tightly enough to bend the bow while holding an arrow. It works alongside with the bow without abandoning it. That is why the saying goes that, “the bow is attached to its string.”

This proverb is compared to married people who live together in their lives. These people fulfill their responsibilities by helping each other in their lives. They find great success in lives because of maintaining their union which is based on their marital blending in their lifetime.

These people are like an union between a bow and a cord, because they also live in harmony with one another as they are united together in carrying out their responsibilities in their lives. That is why people say to them that, “the bow is attached to its string.”

This proverb instills in married couples an idea on how to live together by helping one another enough to nicely fulfill their daily responsibilities, so that they can have more success in their families.

Isungwa jilijisumva ijo jigatumamaga milimo bho gwiyambilija kihamo. Ijoyi jigabhuchaga nigo bhuli yene guti giki jifumilile gujusumo jililwa. Umunhu uyo utung’wana ni sungwa jinijo jibhuchije milimo, agwisagilwa gupandika mbango ja gulya jiliwa ja wiza guti nyama, ukoajile. Hunagwene agayombaga giki, “natung’wana na sungwa jilifuma gujusuma nagulila nyama.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agapandikaga mbango bho gutumama milimo kihamo na bhiye, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhizaga atogilwe gwiyambilija na bhiye kunguno ya jigongo jakwe ija gubhagunana abho bhali na makoye. Uweyi agapandikaga matwajo mingi umuwikaji bhokwe kunguno ya mbango ijo alinajo jinijo.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga ni sungwa ijo jigiyambilijaga kihamo uguitumama imilimo, kunguno nuweyi, agapandikaga mbango ja matwajo mingi, bho gutumama milimo kihayo na bhiye, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhanhu giki, “natung’wana na sungwa jilifuma gujusuma nagulila nyama.”

Sungusungu ni viumbe ambavyo hufanya kazi kwa kusaidiana pamoja. Kila mmoja wao hubeba mzigo wake, unaonesha kama wanatoka kuhemea chakula. Mtu ambaye atakutana na sungusungu hao waliobeba mizigo, atatumaini kupata Baraka za kula chakula kizuri, kama vile nyama, kule anakoelekea. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watu kwamba, “nimekutana na sungusungu wanaotoka kuhemea nitatakula nyama.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hupata baraka kwa kufanya kazi pamoja na wenzake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hupenda kusaidiana na wenzake hao kwa sababu ya huruma yake ya kuwasaidia wale walioko kwenye matatizo. Yeye hupata mafanikio mengi maishani mwake kwa sababu ya Baraka hizo alizonazo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na sungusungu wale walioshirikiana katika kufanya kazi, kwa sababu naye hupata Baraka za mafanikio mengi, kwa kuyatekeleza majukumu yake akishirikiana na wenzake, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana yeye huwaambia watu kwamba, “nimekutana na sungusungu wanaotoka kuhemea nitatakula nyama.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kushirikiana pamoja na wenzao wanapoyatekeleza majukumu yao, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I SAW ANTS THAT WERE COMING FROM SEARCHING FOR FOOD, I WILL EAT MEAT.

Black Ants are creatures which work together. Each one of them carries its own load, showing that they have found food from where they went. The person who meets them carrying their luggage rags will hope to enjoy blessings of receaving good food, such as meat, wherever he/she goes. That is why he/she tells people that, “I saw ants that were coming from searching for food, I will eat meat.”

This saying is applied to a person who receives blessings of working well with others in life. He/she person likes to help his/her colleagues because of having true love to those who in need. He/she finds great success in life because of receiving blessings from God.

This person is like the black ants which worked together, because he also receives blessings of many successes, by fulfilling his/her responsibilities in collaboration with others in life. That is why he/she tells people that, “I saw ants that were coming from searching for food, I will eat meat.”

This saying teaches people on how to kindly cooperate with their family members as they fulfill their daily responsibilities in lives, so that they can achieve more success, in their societies.

Olihoyi munhu uyo olimulegendo lo guja kubhadugu bhakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, ojaga gujulanda jiliwa. Aho oshika koyi agayomba, “nalilanda jiliwa bhadugu bhane.” Abhoyi bhagashosha, “dajimalile gujilwa pye ijiliwa.” Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “bhuli munda bhudilandagwa.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agabhambilijaga abhiye bho gubhawila bhung’hana, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhuyombaga ubhung’hana bhunubho ulu alibhagunana abhanhu abho bhalina makoye, umukikalile kakwe. Uweyi agabhalangaga abhanhu bhakwe nzila ja gubhambilija abhichacho bho gubhuyomba ubhung’hana na guwikalana, umuwikaji bhobho.

Alikuwepo mtu aliyekuwa na safari ya kwenda kwa ndugu zake. Mtu huyo, alienda kuazima chakula. Alipofika huko alisema, “naazima chakula ndugu zangu.” Wao walimjibu, “tumemaliza kukila chakula chote.” Ndiyo maana watu walisema, “kilichoko tumboni hakiazimishwi.”

Mtu huyo, huuongea ukweli huo anapowasaidia watu wenye matatizo, ili waweze kupata utatuzi wa kweli wa matatizo hayo. Yeye huwafundisha watu wake njia za kuwasaidia wenzao kwa kuuongea na kuuishi ukweli huo, maishani mwao.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na watu wale waliomwambia ukweli mgeni wao, kwa sababu naye huwasaida watu kwa kuwaambia ukweli, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana huwaambia watu kwamba, “kilichoko tumboni hakiazimishwi.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwasaidia wenzao, kwa kuwaambia ukweli na kuushi vizuri, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuyamaliza haraka matatizo yao.

ENGLISH: WHAT IS IN THE STOMACH IS NOT BORROWED.

There was a man who was on a journey to his relatives. He went to borrow food. When he arrived, he said, “I am borrowing food, my brothers.” They replied, “We have finished eating all the food.” That is why people say “what is in the stomach is not borrowed.”

This proverb is compared to a person who helps others by telling them the truth in life. Such person speaks the truth when he helps those who have problems, so that they can find real solutions to them. He/she teaches his/her people various ways of helping others by speaking and living according to truth.

This person is like those people who told the truth to their stranger, because he/she also helps people by telling them the truth in life. That is why he/she tells people that “what is in the stomach is not borrowed.”

This proverb imparts in people an idea on how to help others, by telling them the truth and living it, in their lives, so that they can quickly solve their problems.

Yalihoyi nva iyo yaliyasugwa ahakaya ya ng’wa munhu nhebhe. Inva yiniyo, yakamilagwa bhuli lushigu, aliyo yalidigutaga, kunguno yingaga ahakaya yiniyo, yagacholeleja jiliwa mumakaya gangi.

Iyoyi yajaga yujilya ijiliwa ijo bhajiponyaga kihamo na maguha ayo gaponyiyagwa, umumakaya genayo, mpaga iguta na yashoka aha kaya iyo ikalaga. Aho bhayibhona abha hakaya yiniyo igwitaga chene bhagayomba giki, “nyango gumo gudaginyaga nva.”

Uweyi agadulaga iguisumila ikaya yakwe mpaga yapila, kunguno ya wigulambija bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga ni nva iyo yajaga yulya jiliwa mumakaya mpaga iguta, kunguno nuweyi, agaisumilaga ikaya yakwe bho guicholela jiliwa mpaka oipija nzala, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhanhu giki, “nyango gumo gudaginyaga nva.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lolanga bhanhu higulya ya gwigulambija guchobhalela jiliwa ja gubhapija nzala abhanhu bhabho, umukikalile kabho, kugiki bhadule gujibheja chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: MLANGO MMOJA HAUNENEPESHI MBWA.

Alikuwepo mbwa mmoja aliyekuwa amefugwa kwenye familia fulani. Mbwa huyo, alilishwa chakula kila siku, lakini alikuwa hashibi kwa sababu alikuwa akiondoka kwenye familia hiyo, na kwenda kutafuta chakula kwenye familia zingine.

Yeye aliendelea kutafuta mifupa na chakula kilichotupwa na kula, kwenye familia mbalimbali, mpaka aliposhiba ndipo alirudi nyumbani. Walipoona hivyo, wana familia hao, walisema kwamba, “mlango mmoja haunenepeshi mbwa.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hupata tatizo la njaa na kuanza kuzunguka akitafuta chakula mpaka anakipata chatosha kuimaliza hiyo njaa, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwa anaenda kuhemea kila sehemu anakosikia kwamba, kuna chakula ili aweze kujipatia chakula cha kuwatosha watu wake. Yeye huweza kuitafutia chakula familia yake mpaka anakipata cha kutosha kuwalisha wanafamilia wote, kwa sababu ya bidii yake ya kuwasaidia wake hao, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na mbwa aliyeenda kula chakula kwenye familia za watu, kwa sababu naye huitafutia chakula familia yake mpaka anakipata cha kutosha kuimaliza njaa hiyo, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana yeye humwaambia watu kwamba, “mlango mmoja haunenepeshi mbwa.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kujibidisha kuwatafutia chakula cha kutosha kuwaponyesha njaa watu wao, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuziendeleza vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: ONE HOME DOES NOT MAKE THE DOG FAT.

There was a dog that was bred in a certain family. Such dog was fed daily, but it was not satisfied because of leaving the family, going to look for food in other families.

It continued to search for bones and discarded food to eat in various families, until it was full enough to return home. Seeing this, the family members remarked, “One home does not make the dog fat.”

This proverb is likened to a man who starts wandering around looking for food after getting hungry, until he finds plenty enough to end that hunger in his life. This man goes to every place where he hears that there is food so that he can get enough food for his people. He can feed his family until he has enough to feed all the family members, because of his diligence in helping them in his lifetime.

This man is like a dog that goes to eat food in people’s families, because he also seeks food for his family until he finds enough to satisfy that hunger in it. That is why he tells people that “One home does not make the dog fat.”

This proverb teaches people on how to struggle to find enough food to feed their people, in their lives, so that they can better take care of their families.
