1080. UGWIGUMHA IDI GUGWA ALIYO ILI GUJA BHUTONGI.

Ulusumo lunulo, lulolile wigumhi bho ng’wa munhu nhebhe. Uwigumhi bhunubho bhuli wipami bho gunlelengetwa umunhu ng’wunuyo mpaga wendugwa aliyo ugadama chiza.

Umunhu uyo wigumhaga ng’wunuyo, aduhayiwa igiki agwaga hasi kunguno uweyi wigumhaga duhu. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “ugwihumha idi gugwa aliyo iliguja bhutongi.”

 Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo obhubhaga umuchalo jakwe ulomba bhulekejiwa, umuwikaji bhokwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhudebhaga ubhuhubhi bhokwe na kulomba bhulekejiwa bho gufumila kubhiye abho obhahubhilaga, umukikalile kakwe kenako.  Uweyi agagayiyagwa ubhuyeji kunguno ya guwiganika ubhuhubhi bhokwe bhunubho, umuchalo jakwe jinijo.

Ubhulombi bho gulekejiwa gokwe gunuyo gugang’wenhelaga lubhango ulu bhabhubokela chiza abhiye, kunguno agabhizaga na mholele, umumoyo gokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agigumha ulelengeta duhu bho nduhu ugugwa ihasi, kunguno nuweyi agahubhaga olomba bhulekejiwa na guyega kihamo nabhiye uluolekejiwa chiniko, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “ugwihumha idi gugwa aliyo iliguja bhutongi.”

KISWAHILI: KUJIKWAA SI KUANGUKA BALI NI KWENDA MBELE.

Methali hiyo, huangalia kujikwaa kwa mtu fulani. Kujikwa huko, ni kujigonga miguu yake kwenye kitu fulani ambacho humuyumbisha mtu huyo kiasi cha kunusulika kuanguka. Mtu huyo hataambiwa kwamba ameanguka bali amejikaa tu. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “kujikwaa si kuanguka bali ni kwenda mbele.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hufanya kosa fulani katika jamii na kuomba msamaha, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hulitambua upesi kosa lake na kuomba msamaha huo kwa wale aliowakosea, katika maisha yake. Yeye hukosa furaha kwa sababu ya kufikilia juu ya namna alivyowaumiza wengine kwa kosa lake hilo, maishani mwake.

Hatua yake ya kuomba msamaha humletea furaha kubwa unapopokelewa msamaha wake huo na wale aliowakosea, katika utekelejazi wa majukumu yake hayo.

Mtu huyo hufanana na yule aliyejikwaa akayumba bila kuanguka chini, kwa sababu naye hutenda kosa katika jamii na kulitumbua haraka kiasi cha kutosha kuomba msamaha, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “kujikwaa si kuanguka bali ni kwenda mbele.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na uvumilivu wa kutosha kuyatatua kwa haraka matatizo yanayowakumba katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao, maishani mwao, ili waweze kuzilea vizuri familia zao.

ENGLISH: STUMBLING IS NOT FALLING BUT GOING FORWARD.

The above proverb looks at someone’s stumbling. To stumble implies hitting one’s feet on something that shakes him/her enough to avoid falling. Such person will not be told that he/she has fallen but has just stumbled. That is why people say that, “stumbling is not falling but moving forward.”

This saying is compared to the person who commits some mistakes in society and asks for forgiveness, in his life. Such person quickly realizes his mistake and apologizes to those whom he wronged in his life. He becomes unhappy because of realizing how he has hurt others by his mistake, in his life.

His act of asking for forgiveness brings him great joy when his forgiveness is acknowledged by those whom he wronged, in the enactment of his duties.

This person is similar to the one who stumbled and staggered without falling down, because he also commits a mistake in society and realizes it quickly enough to ask for forgiveness, in his life. That is why people tell him that, “stumbling is not falling but moving forward.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of being patient enough to quickly solve the problems which they encounter in the implementation of their responsibilities, in their lives, so that they can nicely raise their families.

1079. ISUMBI LYA NGEGE.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako ilolile Isumbi lya ngege. Ilisumbi linilo ligigasijiyagwa na munhu umo duhu uyo alimwinikili olyo, abhanhu abhangi bhadazunilijiwe uguligasija kunguno ya bhudonho bhokwe ng’winikili olyo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagalitanaga giki, “lisumbi lya ngege.”

Chanzo cha Msemo huo, huangalia kiti cha mtunzaji. Kitu hicho, hukaliwa na mtu mmoja tu ambaye ndiye mmiliki wake, watu wengine hawaruhusiwi kukitumia kwa sababu ya utunzaji wake. Ndiyo maana watu humuita jila la “kiti cha mtunzaji.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huvitunza vizuri vitu vyake kwa kuvijali na vitumia kwa uangalifu zaidi, kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo. Yeye hubaki na vitu vyake akivitumia kwa muda mrefu, kwa sababu ya utunzaji wake huo mzuri, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na kile kiti kilichokaliwa na mmiliki wake tu, kwa sababu naye huvitumia kwa kuvijali vizuri vitu vyake. Ndiyo maana watu humuita jila la “kiti cha mtunzaji.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuvitumia vizuri vitu vyao hivyo, ili waweze kukaa navyo vikiwasaidia kwa muda mrefu, katika familia zao.

ENGLISH: THE CARETAKER’S CHAIR.

This saying looks at ways which an owner of a given chair takes care of it. This chair is occupied by only one person who is the owner. Other people are not allowed to use it because of its preservation. That is why people call it “the caretaker’s chair.”

This saying is compared to the person who takes good care of his things in his life. This person does so by protecting and using them more carefully, because of his good attention. He stays with his things by using them for a long time, because of his good care, in his life.

This person is like a chair that was occupied only by its owner, because he also uses thing by taking good care of him. That is why people call them “the caretaker’s chair.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of being careful in using their things properly, so that they can stay with them and help them for a long time, in their families.

KISWAHILI: FAHALI MVURUGA TOPE.

Msemo huo, huangalia maisha ya Fahali. Fahali huyo, ni dume la ng’ombe ambalo huwa linachomeka pembe zake kwenye matope hasa likifika kwenye sehemu ya kuchungia, au likiona kundi jingine la ng’ombe huchomeka chini pembe zake hizo. Lenyewe hasa huchomeka pembe zake likifika kwenye ukingo wa mto penye ubichi. Ndiyo maana watu humuita jina la “fahali mvuruga tope.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hupika ugali au hufanya kazi yoyote ya kutoka jasho, katika utendaji wake wa kazi. Mtu huyo, kujibidisha kwa hali ya juu kufanya kazi za kutosha jabho, mpaka anazimaliza vizuri, kwa sababu ya bidii yake hiyo ya kufanya kazi, maishani mwake. Yeye hufanikiwa kupata mali nyingi kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya kujibidisha kwake kufanya kwa nguvu hivyo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule fahali aliyechafuka pembe zake kwa kuzichomeka kwenye matope, kwa sababu naye hujibidisha kufanya kazi zake kwa kutosha jasho, mpaka anazimaliza vizuri, katika utendaji wake wa kazi. Ndiyo maana watu humuita jina la “fahali mvuruga tope.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na bidii ya kufanya kazi zao kwa nguvu mpaga wanazimaliza vizuri, ili waweze kupata mali za kuwasaidia katika familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: A MUD MIXER BULL.

The overhead saying looks at the life of the Bull. This Bull is a male cattle that sticks its horns in the mud especially when it reaches the grazing area, or when it sees another group of cows it sticks its horns down. It especially sticks out its horns when it reaches the edge of a river. That is why people call him as “a mud mixer bull.”

This saying is paralleled to a person who cooks stiff porridge or does any sweaty work, in his working activities. This person works hard to the point of finishing his works, because of his honest in his life. He manages to get a lot of wealth for his family because of his hard working in his life.

This person is like the bull that got his horns dirty by sticking them in the mud, because he also works hard enough to sweat to the point of finishing well his works, in his life. That is why people call consider him as “a mud mixer bull.”

This saying teaches people to be diligent in doing their works with strength until they finish them well, so that they can get assets that can help them in running well their families.

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa watu wale ambao wana uelewano wa kumshukuru Muumba wao kwa kuwapatia mafaniko yao, kila baada ya kumaliza kazi. Watu hao, humwabudu Mungu anayewapatia uhai na nguvu za kuyatekelezea majukumu yao, kwa sababu wana imani kubwa kwake. Wao hupata mafanikio mengi na kumshukuru Muumba wao kwa sababu ya kuweka matumaini yao yote kwake katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao.

Watu hao, hufanana na wale marafiki waliokusanyika kunywa pombe ya shukrani kwa Mungu kwa wema wake, kwa sababu nao hukusanyika ili kumshukuru Mungu kwa wema mwingi anaowatendea, maishani mwao. Ndiyo maana wao husema kwamba, “tunaenda kwenye pombe ya kirafiki.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuyatekeleza majukumu yao kwa kumtegemea Mungu na kumpa shukrani kwa wema anaowatendea, ili waweze kupata mafaniko mengi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: WE ARE GOING FOR A FRIENDLY BREW.

This saying parleys about drinking of friendly liquor. This liquor is drunk by those people who are friends for the purpose of having fun together while remembering their successes that they have achieved up to that time.

They gather and drink this alcohol every time after finishing their duties with an aim of continuing their unity, by reminding each other of the good things which they received from their Creator and enough to Him. That is why they say that, “we are going to a friendly brew.”

This saying is compared to people who have an understanding of thanking their Creator for giving them their success, every time they finish their works. These people worship God who gives them life and strength to carry out their duties, because they have great faith in Him. They get a lot of successes enough to thank their Creator because they put all their hope in Him in fullfilling their duties.

These people are similar to those friends who gathered to drink alcohol of thanksgiving to God for His goodness to them, because they also gather to thank God for the many goodness which He does to them, in their lives. That is why they say that, “we are going to a friendly brew.”

This saying teaches people about fulfilling their responsibilities by relying on God and thanking Him for the goodness which He does to them, so that they can get a lot of successes in their lives.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako, ihoyelile higulya ya libhilinga lya bhabyaji bha bhitoji. Ulimlibhilinga linilo bhaganumanaga abhabyaji abha ku lwande lo ngosha nabha kulwande lo nkima aho bhitolelaga abhana bhabho bhenabho. Abhabyaji bhenabho bhagisumbyaga kugiki bhabhalombele lubhango lo gwikala chiza abhitoji bhenabho. Hunagwene bhagalumanaga ha “hangila buga ya b’itoji.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalengajiyagwa kubhitoji abho bhagikalaga bhadebhile igiki bhali mili gumo, umukikalile kabho. Abhanhu bhenabho bhagikalaga na ng’wigwano go gwishibhila chiza umubhupangi nu mubhutumami bho milimo yabho, kunguno ya witogwi bhobho bhunubho, umuwikaji bhobho. Abhoyi bhagapandikaga mbango ja gubhalela chiza abhana bhabho kunguno ya ng’wigwano gobho gunuyo, umukikalile kabho.

 Abhitoji bhenabho, bhagikolaga na bhabyaji bha bhitoji abho bhagalumana kihamo kubhalombela lubhango lo gwikala chiza abhana bhabho abho bhalibhitola, kunguno nabhoyi bhagikalaga na ng’wigwano go gubhalombela lubhango abhana bhabho, umuwikaji bhobho. Hunagwene bhagalumanaga ha “sangila buga ya b’itoji.”

KISWAHILI: MUUNGANO WA WANAOOANA.

Chanzo cha msemo huo, chaongelea juu ya mkusanyiko wa wazazi wa watoto wanaooana. Mkusanyiko huo huandaliwa na wazazi wa pande zote mbili yaani wale wa upande wa mwanaume na wale wa upande wa mwanamke.

Wazazi hao hukusanyika ili kuwaombea Baraka za kuishi vizuri watoto wao hao wanaooana. Ndiyo maana husanyika kwenye “muungano wa wanaooana.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa wanandoa wale ambao huishi kwa kuelewa kuwa wao ni mwili mmoja, katika maisha yao. Watu hao huwa na uelewano wa kuheshiana vizuri katika upangaji na utekelezaji wa kazi zao, maishani mwao. Wao huwapatia Baraka watoto wao za kuishi vizuri na watu kwa sababu ya uelewano wao huo, maishani mwao.

Wanandoa hao, hufanana na wale wazazi waliokusanyika kuwaombea Baraka za kuishi vizuri na watu watoto wao hao waliokuwa wanaoana, kwa sababu nao wana muungano wa kuwaombea Baraka za kuishi vizuri watoto wao. Ndiyo maana wao hukusanyika kwenye “muungano wa wanaooana.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na muungano wa kuwaombea Baraka watoto wao, ili waweze kuzilea vyema familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH:  A UNION OF THE MARRIED ONES.

This saying talks about the gathering of parents of children who get married. The gathering is organized by the parents of both sides, that is, those of the male side and those of the female side.

These parents gather to pray for blessings of their children who are getting married. That is why they gather in the “a union of the married ones.”

This saying is compared to those couples who live with the understanding that they are one body, in their lives. Those people have a good mutual understanding in the planning and implementation of their works, in their lives. They give blessings to their children to live well with people because of their understanding, in their lives.

Those couples are similar to those parents who gathered to pray for blessings of their children to live well with people who were getting married, because they also have a union to pray for blessings of their children to live well. That is why they gather in the “a union of the married ones.”

This saying teaches people about having a union to pray for their children’s blessings, so that they can raise their families well, in their lives.
