1376. IYINIYO NG’HANJO IZWALILAGE GUNTWE.

Alihoyi munhu uyo agangulila ng’hanjo ng’wana okwe. Aliyo lulu ung’wana okwe ng’wunuyo agaduma uguizwala aho winhiwa ing’hanjo yiniyo kunguno oliadaimanile. Hunagwene umyaji okwe ng’wunuyo agang’wila giki, “iyiniyo ng’hanjo izwalilage guntwe.”

Akahayike kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kubhatongezi abho bhagabhatongelaga chiza abhanhu bhabho umukikalile kabho. Abhanhu bhenabho bhagalitumilaga ilikanza lyabho bho gubhalanga abhanhu bhabho akatumamile ka jikolo jabho bho gwikala chiza na bhanhu, kunguno ya bhutungilija bhobho bhunubho, umuwikaji bhobho.  Abhoyi bhagikalaga na bhuyegi bhutale umuchalo jabho kunguno ya gubhatongela chiza abhanhu bhabho bhenabho umubhutongeji bhobho.

Abhatongeji bhenabho bhagikolaga nu myaji uyo agananga ng’wana okwe guzwala ng’hanjo chiza, kunguno nabhoyi bhagabhalangaga abhanhu bhabho ugujitumamila chiza ijikolo jabho bho gwikala chiza na bhanhu, umuwikaji bhobho. Hunagwene bhagabhawilaga abhanhu bhabho giki, “iyiniyo ng’hanjo izwalilage guntwe.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhatongeji higulya ya kubhalanga abhanhu bhabho nzila ja gujitumamila chiza isabho jabho bho gwikala chiza na bhabho, kugiki bhadule gwikala na bhuyegi bhutale umubhutongeji bhobho bhunubho.

KISWAHILI: HIYO NI KANZU IVALIE KICHWANI.

Alikuwepo mtu mmoja aliyemununulia mtoto wake kanzu. Lakini mtoto huyo alishindwa kuivaa hiyo kanzu kwa sababu alikuwa hajaifahamu. Ndiyo maana mzazi wake huyo alimfundisha namna ya kuivaa kwa kumwambia kwamba, “hiyo ni kanzu ivalie kichwani.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa viongozi wale ambao huwaongoza vizuri watu wao, katika maisha yao. Viongozi hayo, huutumia muda wao kwa kuwafundisha watu wao namna na kuvitumia vizuri mali zao kwa kuishi vizuri na watu, kwa sababu ya uaminifu wao huo. Wao huishi kwa furaha kubwa katika nchi zao kwa sababu ya kuwafundisha watu wao namna ya kuzitumia mali zao kwa kuishi vizuri na watu wao, katika uongozi wao.

Viongozi hao hufanana na yule mzazi aliyemfundiswa mtoto wake namna ya kuivaa vizuri kanzu yake, kwa sababu nao huwafundisha watu wao namna ya kuvitumia vitu vyao kwa kuishi vizuri na watu wao, maishani mwao. Ndiyo maana wao huwaambia watu wao kwamba, “hiyo ni kanzu ivalie kichwani.”

Msemo huo hufundisha viongozi juu ya kuwafundisha wao namna ya kuzitumami mali zao kwa kuishi vizuri na watu wao, ili waweze kuwa na furaha kubwa katika uongozi wao.

ENGLISH: THAT IS A COAT WEAR IT ON THE HEAD.

There was a man who bought his son a coat. But the son failed to wear the coat because he did not know it. That is why his parent taught him on how to wear it by telling him that, “that is a coat wear it on the head.”

This saying is matched to those leaders who lead their people well, in their lives. These leaders spend their time by teaching their people on how to use their wealth well to live well with the people, because of their loyalty. They live very happily in their countries because they teach their people on how to use their wealth well enough to live well with their people in their leadership.

These leaders are like the parent who taught his son on how to wear his coat well, because they also teach their people on how to use their possessions enough to live well with their people, in their lives. That is why they tell their people that, “that is a coat wear it on the head.”

This proverb imparts in leaders an idea on how to manage their resources by living well with their people, so that they can have great joy in their leadership.

1375. OLYAGA JIDALIYAGWA.

Aho kale olihoyi munhu uyo agalya noni iyo itanagwa jimila nzoka. Umunhu ng’wunuyo oliadamamine igiki inoyi yiniyo idaliyagwa. Aho oilya inoyi yiniyo, agandya guyukolwa nota bho guyulomba minzi gagung’wa bhuli makanza.  Uweyi agagang’wa aminzi genayo mpaga uzumalika kunguno inhumbi yakwe igokala yugabhitilija iki inota yakwe yaliadashilaga. Abhanhu bhagamana igiki olyaga noni iyo idaliyawa kunguno olombaga aminzi gagung’wa ukunu aliyomba giki, “nalyaga jimila nzoka.” Hunagwene bhagayomba giki, “olyaga didaliyagwa.”

Akahayile kenako kagalengajiyagwa kuli munhu uyo ali naku ogulya majiliwa guti onyama, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agajilyaga ijiliwa guti nyama mpaga ujimala uluojipandikaga kunguno ya bhulaku bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agikalaga ubhahuga ugulya nyama abhanhu bha ha kaya yakwe mpaga yayusata inhumbi yakwe kunguno ya bhulaku bhokwe bhunubho, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo agalya noni iyo idaliyagwa ung’wa minzi mpaka uzumalike bho gokala mpaga yutilija inhumbi yakwe, kunguno nuweyi agayokajaga inhumbi yakwe bho gulya nyama mpaga yayusata, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “olyaga jidaliyagwa.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kuleka bhulagu bho gulya jiliwa sagara mpaka bhabhitilija, kugiki bhadule gujilela chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho bhunubho.

KISWAHILI: AMEKULA KISICHOLIWA.

Hapo zamani alikuwepo mtu aliyekula ndege anayeitwa kimeza nyoka. Mtu huyo alikuwa hajui kwamba ndege huyo haliwi. Alipo mla ndege huyo alianza kujisikia kiu kwa kuomba maji kila wakati. Yeye alikunywa maji hayo mpaga akapoteza maisha yake kwa sababu ya kujaa tumbo lake mpaka kupitiliza.

Watu waligundua kuwa amekula ndege huyo asiyeliwa kwa sababu alikuwa akiomba maji ya kunywa huku akisema “nimekula kimeja nyoka.” Ndiyo maana watu hao walisema kwamba, “amekula kisicholiwa.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni mlafi wa kula chakula hasa nyama katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hula vyakula hivyo hasa nyama mpaka anazimaliza kila anapozipata kwa sababu ya ulafi wake huo, maishani mwake. Yeye huwapunja kula nyama watu walioko kwenye familia yake mpaga tumbo lake huanza kuuma, kwa sababu ya ulafi wake huo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyekula ndege asiyeliwa apawa na kiu ya kunywa maji mpaka akapoteza maisha yake kwa kujaa tumbo lake zaidi ya kipimo cha kawaida, kwa sababu naye hulijaza tumbo lake kwa kula nyama mpaga linanza kuuma, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “amekula kisicholiwa.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha ulafi wa kula vyakula hovyo mpaka wanapitiliza ili waweze kuzilea vyema familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: HE HAS EATEN SOMETHING WHICH IS NOT EATEN.

Once upon a time, there was a man who ate a bird called a snake swaller. Such man did not know that such bird is not eaten. After eating it he began to feel thirsty. He requested for water all the time. He drank such water to the point of losing his life because his stomach was too much full.

People realized that he had eaten the uneaten bird because he was asking for water to drink while saying “I have eaten a snake swaller.” That is why those people said that, “he has eaten which is not eaten.”

This saying is paralleled to a person who is a gluttony for food, especially meat, in his life. This person eats those foods, especially meat, until he finishes them every time he gets them because of his gluttony, in his life. He exploits people in his family by eating too much meat until his stomach starts to give pain to him, because of his gluttony, in his life.

This person is like the one who ate an uneaten bird until he became thirsty for water by drinking it to the point of he losing his life after filling his stomach beyond the normal limit, because he also fills his stomach by eating too much meat, in his life. That is why people say to him that, “He has eaten something which is not eaten.”

This proverb teaches people on how to stop eating too much food so that they can properly feed their families, in their lives.

1374. LUFU LO MBUDIKA

Lufu lo mbudika kali kachile ka ng’wa munhu uyo adasadile. Ulunulo luli lufu lo gung’wisanganija munhu uyo oliadiganika ahi gulya ya gucha gokwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agisanganijiyagwa nu lufu lunuyo kunguno ya guduma nulu guleka shandikwa ja kagabhaninhile ka sabho jakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagalwitanaga giki, “lufu lo mbudika.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agisanganijiyagwa ni milimo yakwe bho nduhu ugwibhegeleja chiza umuwikaji bhokwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikalaga wiyibhile ugwigeyageya ni milimo yakwe iyo yigelelilwe aitumame chiza, kunguno ya wilendeja bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agabhitagwa nilikanza ilya guitumama chiza imilimo yakwe yiniyo kunguno ya wilendeja bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo agisanganijiwa nulu lufu, kunguno nuweyi agilendeleja mpaga wisanganijiwa ni milimo yakwe, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’witanaga giki, “lusu lo mbudika.”

Akahahile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na bhuhuguku bho guleka gwilendeja uguitumama chiza imilimo yabho ulu lyashikaga ilikanza lyayo, kugiki bhadule gupandika sabho ningi, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: KIFO CHA GHAFULA.

Kifo cha ghafula ni namna ya kufa kwa mtu bila kuumwa. Hicho ni kifo cha kumshitukiza mtu ambaye hafikirii juu ya kufa kwake. Mtu huyo hushitukizwa na kifo hicho kwa sababu ya kushindwa hata kuandika wosia wa namna ya kuzigawana mali zake. Ndiyo maana watu hukiita kwamba ni “kifo cha ghafula.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hukutwa na muda ya kuzitekeleza kazi zake mhimu bila ya kuwa na maandalizi mazuri, maishani mwake. Mtu huyo, hujisahau kufanya maandalizi ya kuyatelekeza majukumu yakwe mpaka muda wake unamfikia bila ya kujiandaa, kwa sababu ya kujisahau kwake, katika maisha yake. Yeye hupitwa na muda wa kuyatekeleza majukumu ya kwenye familia yake bila ya kufanya lolote kwa sababu ya kujisahau kwake huko, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyekutwa na kifo kwa kushitukizwa, kwa sababu naye hujisahau kufanya maandalizi ya kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yake mpaka muda wake unamfikia, bila ya kufanya kitu chochote, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humuita jina la “kifo cha ghafula.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na uelewa wa kufanya maandalizi ya kutosha kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yao yajayo, ili waweze kupata mali nyingi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: SUDDEN DEATH.

A sudden death is a manner of dying without getting sick of long time. It is a death that surprises a person who does not think about his death. This person is surprised by such death because of failing to even write a will on how to divide his/her belongings. That is why people call it a “sudden death.”

This saying is matched to a person who finds time to carry out his important tasks without having respectable preparations, in his life. This person forgets to make preparations of abandoning his responsibilities until his time comes to him without preparing it, because of his forgetfulness, in his life. He misses time to carry out his family responsibilities by staying without doing anything because of his forgetfulness, in his life.

This person resembles the one who was surprised by death, because he also forgets to make decent enough preparations to carry out his responsibilities well until his time comes to him, without doing anything, in his life. That is why people call it a “sudden death.”

This proverb imparts in people an idea of understanding to make adequate preparations enough to fulfill their future responsibilities well, so that they can gain many riches in their lives.

1373. JIDASHIMEJIJE ING’HINGI.

Olihoyi munhu uyo aginhiwa nimo go gusimbila ng’hingi ja gusengela numba. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agajisimbila ing’hingi jinijo ugabhigwilija abho bhang’winha unimo gunuyo igiki omalaga ugugutumama. Aho bhiza ugugulingula unimo gokwe bhubhona giki jidashimejiwe ugusimbilwa ing’hingi jinijo kunguno bhajidimaga jayugwa duhu. Hunagwene abhagayomba giki, “jidashimejije ing’hingi.”

Ulusumo lunulo lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo alingokolo ugutumama imilimo ya aha kaya yakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo atogilwe gwikala wigashaga duhu nulu lyashigaga ilikanza ilya gutumama milimo yakwe kunguno ya bhugokolo bhokwe bhunubho umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi aligikala ukoyiwa ni koye lya bhuhab’i bho gubhiza na nduhu jikolo aha kaya yakwe yiniyo, kunguno ya bhugokolo bhokwe bhunubho ubho gwikala wigashije ahikanza lya gutumama milimo yakwe, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo adajishimejije ing’hingi ugujisimbila, kunguno nuwei alingokolo ugutumama imilimo ya kaya yakwe, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’witanaga giki, “jidashimejije ing’hingi.”

Ulusumo lunulo lolanga bhanhu higulya ya gwihanda gutumama milimo yabho chiza bho bhuleka bhugokolo bho gutumama milimo kugiki bhadule gupandika sabho jagubhambilija ugujibheja chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho bhunubho.

KISWAHILI: NGUZO HAZIKUCHIMBIWA KWA KINA KIREFU.

Alikuwepo mtu aliyepewa kazi ya kuchimbia nzuzo za kujengea nyumba. Mtu huyo, alizichimbia nguzo hizo akaenda kuwataarifu wale waliompatia kazi hiyo kuwa ameimaliza. Walipofika kuikagua kazi yake wale waliompatia kazi hiyo waligundua kuwa nguzo hizo hazikuchimbiwa vizuri kwa sababu kila walipozigusa kidogo zilianguka. Ndiyo maana walisema kwamba, “nguzo hazikuchimbiwa kwa kina kirefu.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni mvivu wa kufanya kazi kwenye familia yake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo hushinda akiwa amekaa tu hata wakati wa kufanya kazi kwa sababu ya uvivu wake huo, maishani mwake. Yeye husumbulia na tatizo la umakini wa kutokuwa na kitu katika familia yake kwa sababu ya uvivu wake huo wa kushinda amekaa hata wakati wa kufanya kazi, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyeshindwa kuitekeleza vizuri kazi ya kuchimbia nguzo aliyopewa, kwa sababu naye ana uvivu wa kutokufanya kazi zake mpaga anasumbuliwa na tatizo la umaskini wa kutokuwa na kitu katika familia yake, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba “nguzo hazikuchimbiwa kwa kina kirefu.”

Methali hiyo hufundisha watu juu ya kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao bila ya kuzembea katika kuyatekeleza majukumu yao, ili waweze kupata mali za kuwasaidia katika kuziendelea vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THE PILLARS WERE NOT DUG DEEP.

There was a man who was given a task of digging foundations for a house. Such man dug pillars and went to inform those who had given him that task that he had finished. When they arrived to inspect his work, those who had given him the task discovered that those pillars were not dug properly because every time they fell after touching them. That is why they said, “The pillars were not dug deep.”

This proverb is equaled to a person who is lazy to work in his family, in his life. Such person wins by just sitting down even when working because of his laziness, in his life. He suffers from the difficult of not having anything in his family because of his laziness of sitting down without working in his life.

This person is like the one who failed to properly carry out the task of digging a pillar given to him, because he is also lazy in doing his work until he is troubled by the problem of poverty of having nothing in his family, in his life. That is why people say to him that “the pillars were not dug deep.”

This proverb teaches people about working hard enough to do their jobs without being lazy in carrying out their responsibilities, so that they can obtain much wealth enough to help them in decent development of their families in their lives.

1372. AHA NG’WISE GADAGAYIKAGA MAB’U.

Amab’u jili ginhu ijo jigolechaga milimo ya moto. Imilimo ya moto yiniyo, ili kihamo na guzugila jiliwa ja bhanhu kunguno abhanhu bhagasolaga ng’hwi ijo jigabhakaga moto mpaga jasaga mab’u ulu jilizugwa ijiliwa jinijo.

Kuyiniyo lulu, ikaya iyo idamalaga mab’u ili ya bhanhu abho bhagazugaga jiliwa ja gulya abhanhu bhabho bhuli lushigu. Hunagwene abhanhu bha ha kaya yiniyo bhagayombaga giki, “aha ng’wise gadagayikaga mab’u.”

Ulusumo lunulo lugalenganijiyagwa kukaya ya bhanhu bhizanholo umukikalile kabho. Abhanhu bha ha kaya yiniyo bhagabhagalilaga abhanhu bhabho bho gubhazugila jiliwa jawiza bhuli lushigu, kunguno ya wizanholo bhobho bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe. Abhanhu bhenabho bhagapandikaga mbango ja gwikala na bhuyegi bhutale hoyi kunguno ya winzaholo bhobho bhunubho ubho gubhagalila jiliwa jawiza abhanhu bhabho, umukikalile kabho kenako.

Abhanhu bha ha kaya yiniyo, bhagikolaga nabho bhabhazugilaga abhanhu bhabho jiliwa bhuli lushigu, kunguno nabhoyi bhagabhagalilaga abhanhu bhabho bho gubhazugila jiliwa jawiza bhuli lushigu, umuwikaji bhobho bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhabho bhagayombaga giki, “aha ng’wise gadagayikaga mab’u.”

Ulusumo lunulo lolanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na wizanholo bho gubhazugila abhichab’o jiliwa jawiza bhuli lushigu, kugiki bhadule gupandika mbango jagwikala na bhuyegi bhutale umu kaya jabho jinijo.

KISWAHILI: NYUMBANI KWETU HAYAKOSEKANI MAJIVU.

Majivu ni kitu ambacho huonesha kazi za moto. Kazi hizo ni pamoja na kupikia chakula cha watu kwa sababu watu huchukua kuni ambazo huunguzwa na moto mpaka yanabakia majivu wakati wa kupika chakula hicho.

Kwa hiyo familia ile ambao majivu hayakoseni ni ya watu wale wanaopika chakula cha kula watu wao kila siku. Ndiyo maana watu wa kwenye familia hiyo husema kwamba, “nyumbani kwetu hayakosekani majivu.”

Methali hiyo hulinganishwa kwenye familia ya watu wakarimu katika maisha yao. Watu wa kwenye familia hiyo, huwatunza watu wao kwa kuwapikia chakula kizuri kila siku, kwa sababu ya ukarimu wao huo maishani mwao. Wao hupata Baraka za kuishi kwa furaha kubwa katika familia yao hiyo kwa sababu ya ukarimu wao huo wa kuwapikia chakula kizuri watu wao, katika maisha yao hayo.

Watu wa kwenye familia hiyo, hufanana na wale waliowapikia watu chakula kila siku, kwa sababu nao huwatunza watu wao kwa kuwapikia chakula kizuri kila siku, maishani mwao. Ndiyo maana watu wao husema kwamba, “nyumbani kwetu hayakosekani majivu.”

Methali hiyo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na ukarimu wa kuwapikia chakula kizuri watu wao kila siku, ili waweze kupata Baraka za kuishi kwa furaha katika familia zao hizo.

ENGLISH: THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF ASHES IN OUR HOUSE.

Ash is something that represents works of fire. These works include cooking food for people who take wood that is burned by fire until it remains as ashes when cooking the food.

Therefore, the family that does not lack ash belongs to those people who cook food for their people every day. That is why the people of that family say that, “There is no shortage of ashes in our house.”

This proverb is equated to a family of generous people in their lives. These people of that family take care of their people by cooking for them decent food every day, because of their generosity in their lives. They receive blessings of living with great happiness in their family because of their generosity of cooking respectable food for their people, in their lives.

These people are similar to those who cooked food for people every day, because they also take care of their people by cooking decent food for them every day, in their lives. That is why their people say, “There is no shortage of ashes in our house.”

This proverb imparts in people an idea of being generous enough to cook respectable food for their people every day, so that they can receive blessings of living happily in their families.
