KISWAHILI: ANAVUTWA NA FISI.

Msemo huo huongelea juu ya mchungaji wa mifugo aliyejisahau mpaka mwishowe kondoo wake akachukuliwa na fisi. Mchungaji huyo, alikuwa akichunga kondoo, mbuzi, na ng’ombe. Kondoo wake alichukuliwa na fisi bila ya yeye kufahamu kwa sababu ya kujisahau kwake huko mpaka mwishowe watu wakawaona fisi wakimvuta kondoo huyo. Ndiyo maana watu hao walisema “anavutwa na fisi.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hazitunzi vizuri mali zake katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huvitelekeza hovyo vitu vyake hivyo mpaka mwishowe vinapotea, kwa sababu ya kutovitunza vizuri vitu vyake hivyo, maishani mwake. Yeye huishiwa mali katika familia yake hiyo kwa sababu ya kuzitelekeza hovyo mali zake hizo mpaka mwishowe zinapotea, katika maisha yake hayo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule mchungaji aliyejisahau mpaka kondoo wake akachukuliwa na fisi, kwa sababu naye huvitelekeza hovyo vitu vyake mpaka mwishowe vinapotea, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu wanaoziona mali zake zikipotea hivyo humwambia kwamba, “anavutwa na fisi.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuvitunza vizuri  vitu vyao, ili viweze kuwasaidia vizuri katika familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: IT IS BEING DRAGGED BY A HYENA.

This proverb talks about a shepherd who forgot himself until finally his sheep was taken by a hyena. The shepherd was herding sheep, goats, and cattle. His sheep was taken by a hyena without him knowing because of his forgetfulness until people saw the hyenas dragging it. That is why those people said that “It is being dragged by a hyena.”

This proverb is matched to a person who does not take decent care of his possessions in his life. This person neglects his belongings until they are eventually lost, because of not taking respectable precaution of his belongings in his life. He runs out of wealth in his family because of neglecting his belongings until they are eventually lost in his life.

This person is like the shepherd who forgot himself until his sheep was taken by a hyena, because he also neglects his belongings until they are eventually lost in his life. That is why people who see his possessions disappearing like that tell him that, “it is being dragged by a hyena.”

This proverb instills in people a clue about being cautious enough to take respectable carefulness of their belongings so that they can support them well in their families in their lives.

KISWAHILI: MZURI MWENYE KIBUYU.

Walikuwepo watu waliofuga ng’ombe mwenye mazima katika kijiji cha Mwatuma. Ng’ombe huyo, alikuwa akitoa mazima mengi sana ambayo walikuwa wakiyachekecha kwenye kibubu kwa sababu walitaka kupata siagi na mafuta ya kupikia chakula. Ng’ombe huyo, alikuwa akitoa maziwa yaliyojaza kibuyu kwa sababu ya wingi ya wazima yake hayo. Ndiyo maana watu walimuita jina la “mzuri mwenye kibuyu.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa tajiri yule ambaye huzitumia mali zake kwa kuwasaidia watu, katika maisha yake hayo. Tajiri huyo, huzitumia mali zake kwa kuwasaidia watu wanaokumbwa na matatizo mbalimbali ili waweze kuyamaliza haraka, kwa sababu ya ukarimu na upendo wake huo, maishani mwake. Yeye huleta furaha kubwa kwa watu wengi anaowasaidia mpaka wanayamaliza haraka matatizo yao kwa sababu ya upendo na ukarimu wake huo, katika maisha yake.

Tajiri huyo, hufanana na yule ng’ombe aliyekuwa akitoa maziwa mengi mpaka watu wakawa wanayachekecha ili kupata siaji na mafuta, kwa sababu naye huzitumia mali zake kwa kuwasaidia watu wenye matatizo mpaka wanayamaliza haraka matatizo hayo, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humuita jina la “mzuri mwenye kibuyu.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na upendo na ukarimu wa kuzitumia mali zao kwa kuwasaidia wenzao wanaosumbuliwa na matatizo mbalimbali ili waweze kuyamaliza haraka matatizo hayo, maishani mwake.

ENGLISH: “THE GOOD ONE OF A CALABASH.”

There were folks who raised a cow with a calabash in the village of Mwatuma. The cow used to give a lot of milk that they used to shake in a calabash for getting butter and cooking oil. Milk of such cow filled a calabash because it was abundant. That is why individuals called it “the good one of a calabash.”

This saying is compared to a rich man who uses his wealth for supporting people in his life. This rich man uses his wealth to aid those who suffer from various hitches so that they can quickly solve them, because of his generosity and love, in his life. He brings great joy to several persons whom he aids until they quickly solve their glitches because of his love and generosity in his life.

This rich man resembles the cow that gave so much milk from which people got butter and oil, because he also uses his wealth for aiding individuals who are trouble until they quickly solve those glitches. That is why they call him “the good one of a calabash.”

This saying imparts in individuals an idea of being generous enough to use their wealth for supporting others who suffer from various complications so that they can quickly solve those troubles in their lives.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhitilaga mihayo ya wiza abhanhu bhakwe bho nduhu gubhadaraha sagala kunguno ya likujo lyakwe linilo umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agikalaga na bhuyeji bhutale na bhanhu bha aha kaya yakwe kunguno ya widohya bhokwe bhunubho ubho gwikala chiza nabhiye, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo obhashokeja chiza abhanhu abho bhambyedelejaga ulu aliiyomba imihayo iya nhana, kunguno nuweyi agabhitilaga mihayo ikujo abhanhu bhakwe bho nduhu gubhadaraha sagala, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene agayombaga gki, “aliyo nadudogolaga.”

Hapo zamani alikuwepo mtu aliyeishi katika kijiji cha Bubinza. Mtu hiyo alikuwa akisema ukweli lakini wenzake walikuwa wakimdharau kwa sababu ya dharau zao hizo. Mtu huyo, alivumilia kwa kuwajibi vizuri watu hao. Ndiyo maana alisema kwamba, “sisemi kwa dharau.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule anayewaheshimu watu wake katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwatendea mema watu hao hao bila ya kuwadharau kwa sababu ya unyenyekevu wake huo wa kuwaheshimu watu wake hao, maishani mwake. Yeye huishi kwa furaha kubwa na watu wa kwenye familia yake hiyo, kwa sababu ya unyenyekevu wake huo wa kuwaheshimu watu wake, katika maisha yake hayo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyewajibu kwa heshiwa watu waliomdharau alipowaambia ukweli, kwa sababu naye huwatendea mema watu wake bila ya kuwadharau, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “sisemi kwa dharau.”

ENGLISH: I DO NOT SPEAK WITH DISRESPECT.

Once upon a time, there was a man who lived in the village of Bubinza. He spoke the truth but his earls disrespected him because of their impudence. Such man endured their lack of respect by responding politely to them. That is why he said that, “I do not speak with disrespect.”

This saying is related to a man who respects his family members in his life. This man nicely treats folks without disrespecting them because of his humility of regarding people in his life. He lives with great happiness with his family members, because of his humility of valuing them in his life.

This man resembles the one who responded respectfully to people who disrespected him when he told them the truth, because he also politely treats his people without disrespecting them in his life. That is why he says, “I do not speak with disrespect.”

This saying imparts in societal members an idea of being humble enough to respect their societal members so that they can nicely nurture their families in their lives.

Akahayile kenako kalolile mitugo ijo jigadimagwa hangitili iyo idinahaya guding’waa nulu kamo. Imitugo jinijo aho jashiga umungitili iliyo jigigulambija gudima bho bhuyegi kunguno jali jatuubha noyi. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayomba giki, “gagwa mangetule.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agatubhaga opandika majiliwa mingi umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agapandikaga amajiliwa genayo wigulambija kugalya bho bhukamu bhutale kunguno ya gwikala alinzala gufumile likanza lilihu umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agajilyaga mpaga ojimala ijiliwa ijo agajipandikaga jinijo kunguno ya gwikala shigu ningi adalile, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga ni mitugo ijo jalijituubhile jigulambija gulya maswa mpaga jiguta aho jachalwa ukungitili, kunguno nuweyi apandikaga jiliwa ulu otubhaga wigulambija gujilya mpaga wiguta, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhaganhayaga giki, “gagwa mangetule.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule aliye na njaa akapata chakula kingi katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hupata chakula hicho na kujibidisha kula kwa nguvu sana kwa sababu ya kukaa bila kula kwa muda mrefu, maishani mwake. Yeye hula chakula alichokipata mpaka anakimaliza, kwa sababu ya kukaa muda mrefu bila ya kula chakula, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na wale mifugo waliokuwa na njaa kwa muda mrefu wakapata nyasi na kujibidisha kuzila mpaka wakazimaliza, kwa sababu naye hupata chakula akiwa na njaa na kukila mpaka akakimaliza, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “imenguka bahati.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kukitunza vizuri chakula wanachokipata ili kiweze kuwasaidia katika siku zao za mbeleni, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: LUCK HAS FALLEN.

This proverb refers to cattle that grazed in a treasure of a lot of grasses which they have never grazed before. When these cattle reached those grasses they happily ate it all because they were hungry for not having eaten for several days. That is why people said that, “luck has fallen.”

This proverb is equated to a hungry man one who finds a lot of food in his life. This person finds food and forces himself to eat very hard because of not eating for a long time in his life. He eats such food until he finishes it because of being hungry for a long time in his life.

This person is like those cattle that ate grasses which they found after being hungry for a long time because he also finds food when he is hungry and eats it until he finishes it in his life. That is why people say to him, “luck has fallen.”

This proverb teaches individuals on how to be cautious to take virtuous care of food which they get so that it can help them in their future days in their lives.

Aliyo lulu, lushigu lumo agapandika likoye litale ilo lyalilya gumala bho gujinja ntugo ntale guti ng’ombe. Uweyi agiyangula gujinja ng’ombe kunguno ohayaga ab’ukinde wangu ub’ulugu bhunubho. Hunagwene agayomba giki, “b’ulugu b’o kula naje mumagogeja.”

KISWAHILI: VITA IMEKUA KUBWA NIUZE NG’OMBE.

Hapo zamani alikuwepo mtu mmoja aliyekuwa tajiri wa mifugo. Mifugo hao waliokuwa pamoja na kuku, mbuzi, kondoo, na ng’ombe. Tajiri huyo alikuwa akiuza kuku au mbuzi akipata shida ndogo katika familia yake ili apate hela ya kuyatatulia kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo, katika maisha yake.

Lakini basi, siku moja tajiri huyo alipata tatizo kubwa lililohitaji kuuza mfugo mkubwa kama ng’ombe ili kupata pesa za kulitatulia. Yeye aliamua kuunza ng’ombe kwa sababu ya kutaka aishinde haraka vita hiyo. Ndiyo maana alisema kwamba, “vita imekua kubwa niuze ng’ombe.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa tajiri yule ambaye huzitumia vizuri mali zake katika maisha yake. Tajiri huyo, huzitunza vizuri mali zake hizo ili ziweze kumsaidia kuyamaliza haraka matatizo yatakayojitokeza kwenye familia yake hiyo, kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo, maishani mwake. Yeye huzitumia vizuri mali zake hizo mpaka anayamaliza haraka matatizo yanayojitokeza kwenye familia yake hiyo, kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo, katika maisha yake hayo.

Tajiri huyo, hufanana na yule aliyeuza ng’ombe alipopata tatizo kubwa mpaka akapata hela zilizomuwezesha kulitatua haraka, kwa sababu naye huzitumia mali zake kwa kuyatatua matatizo yanayoikumba familia yake hiyo mpaka anayamaliza haraka kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “vita imekua kubwa niuze ng’ombe.”

But then, one day such rich man had an enormous difficult that required selling a large animal like a cow for getting enough money to solve it. He decided to bring a cow because he wanted to win the war quickly. That is why he said, “the war has become big, let me sell the cow.”

This proverb is related to a rich man who uses his wealth well in his life. This rich man takes upright care of his wealth so that it can support him quickly in solving hitches that will arise in his family, because of his responsiveness in his life. He uses his wealth well until he quickly solves the glitches which arise in his family, because of his thoughtfulness in his life.

This rich man resembles the one who sold his cow when he encountered a big delinquent until he got the money that enabled him to solve it quickly, because he also uses his wealth to solve the hitches which befall his family until he quickly solves them.That is why he says that, “the war has become big, let me sell the cow.”

This proverb imparts in individuals an idea of being so attentive enough to take decent care of their wealth so that they can support them in quickly solving glitches which will befall their families in their lives.
