1428. LYAB’ALEMELILE UGULIB’EJA.

Aho kale bhalihoyi bhanhu abho bhihayaga bhamani bha guzenga numba. Abhanhu bhenabho bhaginhiwa numba ya guzenga muchalo jilebe. Aho bhamala uguizenga inumba yiniyo igab’iza ijile lwande guti giki ili haya gugwa kunguno ya guyizenga shib’i. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayomba giki, “lyab’alemelile ugulib’eja.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agituulaga bhubhani bho gutumama nimo uyo agadagumanile chiza, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agandyaga gutumama milimo bho nduhu ugwikala ni jitumamililo jayo mpaka oduma uguyimala chiza kunguno ya gwigimba bhumani bho sagala umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agaikenagulaga salaga imilimo yakwe kunguno ya gwituula bhumani bho guitumama aliyo adayideb’ile chiza umukikalile kakwe kenako.

KISWAHILI: LIMEWASHINDA KULITENGENEZA.

Hapo zamani walikuwepo watu waliojidai kuwa wanafahamu kujenga nyumba. Watu hao walipewa nyumba ya kujenga kwenye kijiji fulani. Walipomaliza kuijenga nyumba hiyo ilienda upande kama inataka kuanguka kwa sababu ya kujengwa vibaya. Ndiyo maana watu walisema kwamba, “limewashinda kulitengeneza.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hujitia kujua kufanya kazi ambayo haielewi vizuri katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huanza kufanya kazi bila ya kuwa na vitendea kazi vinavyotakiwa mpaka anashindwa kuimaliza vizuri kazi hiyo, kwa sababu ya kujifanya mjuaji kwenye vitu asivyovihamu vizuri, maishani mwake. Yeye huziharibu hovyo kazi zake kwa sababu ya kutia kujua kwake kwa kufanya kazi asizozielewa vizuri, katika maisha yake hayo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na wale waliojifanya wajuaji wa kujenga nyumba mpaka wakaiharibu nyumba hiyo, kwa sababu naye hujifanya mjuaji wa kufanya kazi asizozielewa vizuri mpaka anaziharibu kazi hizo, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “limewashinda kulitengeneza.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuacha kujifanya wajuaji wa kufanya kazi wasizozielewa vizuri, ili waweze kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: IT FAILED THEM TO BUILD IT.

In the past, there were people who claimed to know how to build a house. These people were given a house to build in a certain village. When they finished building the house, it looked as if it was about to collapse because it was poorly built. That is why people said that “it failed them to build it.”

This saying is related to a person who pretends to know how to do a job that he does not understand well in his life. This person starts working without having the required tools until he fails to finish the job well, because of pretending to be knowledgeable about things that he does not understand well, in his life. He destroys his works in such a way because of putting his knowledge into doing jobs that he does not understand well, in his life.

This person resembles to those who pretended to know how to build a house until they destroy the house, because he also pretends to be knowledgeable about doing jobs that he does not understand well until he destroys those jobs, in his life. That is why people say to him that, “it failed them to build it.”

This saying teaches people about being careful enough to stop pretending to be experts in tasks which they do not understand well, so that they can properly fulfill their responsibilities in their lives.

1427. NG’WANA WIGOBO.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako ihoyelile ligusha lya bhanigini. Abhanigini bhenabho bhagasolaga magobo bhagibhala kungongo kunguno bhagagagemanijaga na bhana bhabho. Abhoyi bhagabhizaga guti bhibhalaga bhana ukumigongo yabho aliyo gashinaga yaya bhadibhana. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagagitanaga giki “ng’wana wigobo.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo aling’wigashi aha kaya iyo ading’wana ogubyalilwa hoyi, umuwikaji bhokwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agatumamaga imilimo ya hakaya yiniyo bho nduhu ubhukalalwa kunguno akomile gwinga hoyi ikanza lyoselyose aha kaya yiniyo iki adabyalilwe hoyi, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi adapandikaga amatwajo amingi kunguno ya gutumama milimo yakwe hado hado osamila kungi, umukikalile kakwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu ng’wana wigobo uyo adionhana, kunguno nuweyi agigashaga ahadoo osamila kungi umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’witanaga giki, “ng’wana wigobo.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gwikala chiza na bhana abho bhaligashi duhu umukaya jabho, kugiki bhadule gwiyambilijaga ugujibheja chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: MTOTO WA KOPO.

Chanzo cha msemo huo huongelea juu ya mchezo wa watoto. Watoto hao huchukua makopo na kuyabeba mgongoni mwao kwa sababu ya kuyafananisha na watoto wao. Wao huonekana kama wamebeba watoto kwenye migongo yao hiyo wakati siyo watoto wa ukweli. Ndiyo maana watu huyaita makopo hayo kuwa ni “mtoto wa kopo.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni mkaaji wa kwenye familia ambayo hakuzaliwa hapo, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hufanya kazi zake akiwa legelege kwa sababu ya kuelewa kwamba, anaweza kuondoka pale wakati wowote ule, maishani mwake. Yeye hushindwa kupata mafanikio mengi kwa sababu ya kufanya kazi bila ya kujituma sawasawa, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule mtoto wa kopo ambaye siyo mzaliwa wa kwenye kwenye familia anayoishi, kwa sababu naye huishi kwa kuhamahama hivyo katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humuita kuwa ni “mtoto wa kopo.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuishi vizuri na watoto wale wasiokuwa watoto wao, ili waweze kusaidiana katika kuendeleza vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

Yeremia 17:5.

ENGLISH: CANISTER CHILD.

The origin of the overhead saying talks about a children’s game. These children take cans and carry them on their backs because they compare them to their children. They appear as if they are carrying children on their backs when they are not real children. That is why people call these cans “canister child.”

This saying is equated to a person who is a resident of a family that he was not born there, in his life. This person does his works lazily because he understands that he can leave there at any time, in his life. He fails to achieve much success because of working without putting in the same effort in his life.

This person resembles the can child who is not born in the family where he lives in, because he also lives by moving around like that in his life. That is why people call him a “canister child.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of living well with children who are not their own, so that they can help each other in developing their family lives.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako iholelile kizile ka mbula. Imbula yiniyo idizaga mzenze kunguno igenhaga milimo iyo abhanhu bhagandyaga guitumama kugiki bhadule kupandika jikolo umuwikaji bhobho bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhenabho bhagayombaga giki, “idizaga mzenze.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agigulambijaga gutumama milimo yakwe chiza ulu lyashiga ilikanza lyayo, umuwikaji bhokwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agajaga wangu ukumilimo yakwe ugigulambija guitumama mpaga uyimala chiza, kunguno ya bhukamu bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agapandika sabho ningi aha kaya yakwe kunguno ya wigulambija bhokwe bhunubho ubho guitumama chiza imilimo yakwe, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nabho bhagandya gutumama milimo yabho aho yandya ugutula imbula mpaga bhupandika jikolo, kunguno nuweyi agigulambijaga gutumama milimo yakwe chiza ulu lyashiga ilikanza lyayo mpaga opandika jikolo umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene agayombaga giki, “idizaga mzenze.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na witegeleja bho gwigulambija guitumama milimo yabho chiza ulu lyashiga ilikanza lyayo, kugiki bhadule kupandika sabho ningi umukaya jabho jinijo.

KISWAHILI: HAIIJI KWA STAREHE.

Chanzo cha msemo huo huongelea kuanza kunyesha kwa mvua. Mvua hiyo, haiiji kwa starehe kwa sababu huleka kazi ambazo watu huanza kuzifanya ili waweze kupata mali maishani mwao. Ndiyo maana watu hao husema kwamba, “haiiji kwa starehe.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hujibidisha kufanya kazi zake vizuri unapofika wakati wa kuzitekeleza kazi hizo, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwahi kwenda kazini kwake na kujibidisha kuzitekeleza vizuri mpaka  mwisho, kwa sababu ya bidii yake hiyo maishani mwake. Yeye hupata mali nyingi kwenye familia yake hiyo kwa sababu ya bidii yake hiyo ya kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi zake, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo hufanana na wale walioanza kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi zao ilipoanza kunyesha mvua mpaka wakapata mali, kwa sababu naye hujibidisha kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi zake unapofika wakati wake mpaka anafanikiwa kupata mali, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “haiiji kwa starehe.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kujibidisha kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi zao unapofika wakati wake, ili waweze kupata mali nyingi katika familia zao hizo.

ENGLISH: IT DOES NOT COME WITH PLEASURE.

The origin of this saying refers to a beginning of rain. This rain does not come with pleasure because it comes with works which people start doing so that they can get wealth in their lives. That is why these people say that, “it does not come with pleasure.”

This saying is matched to a person who strives to do his works well when the time of doing them reaches, in his life. This person, always goes to his jobs and strives to do them well until the end, because of his diligence in his life. He earns a lot of wealth in his family because of his diligence in doing his works well in life.

This person is similar to those who started doing their works well when it started to rain until they got wealth, because he also strives to do his works well when the time of doing them arrives until he succeeds in getting wealth, in his life. That is why he says that, “it does not come with pleasure.”

This proverb teaches people about being diligent in doing their jobs well when the time of dong them begins, so that they can gain a lot of wealth in their families.

1425. NAGWANDILAGA DUHU.

Olihoyi munhu uyo olimilaga ngese ya jiliwa jidododo. Umunhu ng’wunuyo oyilimilaga ingese yiniyo bho witegeleja bhutale noyi kunguno galigatali ugukula chiza amandege genayo. Hunagwene ulu bhamuja abhanhu abho bhabhitaga hoyi ijo ajitaga oyombaga giki, “nagwandilaga duhu.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo aganguhaga gujutumama milimo yakwe chiza umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agipunaga diyu ogandya gutumama milimo yakwe bho nguzu mpaga oimala chiza, kunguno ya witegeleja bhokwe ubho gwigulambija gutumama milimo yakwe chiza, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agapandikaja sabho ja gutumamila chiza aha kaya yakwe yiniyo, kunguno ya witegeleja bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo olimilaga ngunda go mandege madododo bho witegeleja bhutale, kunguno nu weyi aganguhaga gujutumama milimo yakwe bho witegeleja bhutale mpaga oyimala chiza, umuwikaji bhokwe.  Hunagwene agabhawilaga abhanhu giki, “nagwandilaga duhu.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na witegeleja bho gwanguha kuitumama milimo yabho chiza, kugiki bhadule gupandika sabho ningi umukaya jabho jinijo, umuwikaji bhobho.

Alikuwepo mtu aliyekuwa akipalilia palizi ya mahindi. Mtu huyo, alikuwa akipalilia palizi hiyo kwa umakini mkubwa sana kwa sababu yalikuwa hayajakua vizuri mahindi hayo. Ndiyo maana walipomuuliza watu waliopita pale alichokuwa akikifanya, alisema kwamba, “nachambua tu.”

Msema huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwahi kwenda kufanya kazi zake katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huamka asubuhi na kwenda kufanya kazi kwa mguvu mpaga anaimaliza vizuri kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo wa kujibidisha kufanya kazi zake maishani mwake. Yeye hupata mali nyingi za kumsaidia vizuri katika familia yake hiyo, kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyepalilia shamba la mahindi madogo kwa umakini mkubwa mpaka akaimaliza vizuri, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana huwaambia watu kwamba, “nachambua tu.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuwahi kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yao, ili waweze kupata mali za kutumia vizuri katika familia zao hizo, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I AM JUST ANALYZING.

There was a man who was weeding corn field. Such man was weeding the corn field very carefully because such corn had not grown well. That is why when people who passed by asked him what he was doing, he said, “I am just analyzing.”

This saying is equated to a person who always goes to do his work in his life. Such person wakes up in the morning and goes to work with great energy and finishes it well because of his attention to doing his work in his life. He earns a lot of wealth enough to help him well in his family, because of his attention, in his life.

This person resembles the one who weeded a small corn field with great attention until he finished it well, in his life. That is why he tells people that, “I am just analyzing.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of being attentive enough to always carrying out their duties well, so that they can earn decent wealth for using well in their family lives.

1424. MBULUGUTYA TUNDE.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako ilolile kogele ka ngoko. Ingoko ulu iloga igabulugutaga duhu nulu mamab’u, nulu mumasalu yamala ugoga kunguno ya bhujidadilila bhoyo bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagaihayaga giki, “mbulugutya tunde.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu nsoso uyo agogaga b’o gwiyisila minzi duhu wangu wangu na amalaga, umukikalile kakwe kenako. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikalaga na mako mingi umumili gokwe ayo adagejaga umubhoji bhokwe ubho gwiyisila minzi na guswala myenda, kunguno ya gugayiwa witegeleja bho gwidilila chiza umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agakoyiyagwa na sata ijagwenhwa na bhusoso aha kaya yakwe kunguno ya gukija gwidilila chiza, umubhogi bhokwe bhunubho, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga ni ngoko iyo igogaga bho gwibugulutya mumab’u nulu umumasalu duhu yamala, kunguno nuweyi agiisilaga minzi duhu umumili gokwe na omalaga goga bho nduhu ugwiyeja amako, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunaagwene abhanhu bhagang’witanaga giki, “mbulugutya tunde.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na witegeleja bho goga na widiliji wiza mpaga gashila amako gabho, kugiki bhadule gujipeja isata ijagwenhelejiwa na bhusoso umukaya jabho jinijo, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: UGAAGAAJI WA KUKU.

Chanzo cha msemo huo huangalia ugaagaaji wa kuku. Kuku akitaka kuoga hujigalagaza kwenye mchanga au kwenye majivu tu anamaliza kuoga kwa sababu ya kutokujijali kwakwe. Ndiyo maana watu huuita uogaji wake huo kuwa ni “ugaagaaji wa kuku.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu mchafu anayeoga kwa kujimwagia maji tu anamaliza, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huishi na uchafu mwingi mwilini mwake ambao huwa hausafishi vizuri katika uogaji wake huo wa kujimwagia maji mwilini tu anamaliza, kwa sababu ya kukosa umakini wa kujijali vizuri maishani mwake. Yeye husumbuliwa na magonjwa yatokanayo na uchafu kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya kutosa umakini huo wa kuoga vizuri katika maisha yake hayo.

Mtu huyo hufanana na yule kuku anayeoga kwa kujigalagaza tu kwenye mchanga anamaliza, kwa sababu naye hujimwagia maji tu mwilini mwake anamaliza kuoga, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humuitaji kwamba ni “ugaagaaji wa kuku.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na kumakini wa kuoga kwa kujijali vizuri mpaka wanakuwa safi, ili waweze kujikinga na magonjwa yatokanayo na uchafu, katika familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: CHICKEN’S PLAYING WITH DUST.

The origin of the over head saying looks at the debauchery of chickens. When chicken want to bathe, only debaucheries in the sand or ashes and finish bathing because of lack of self-care. That is why people call such debauchery as “Chicken’s playing with dust.”

This saying is equaled to a dirty person who bathes by pouring water on him/herself and finishes. This person lives with a lot of dirt in his body that does not clean properly in his bath of pouring water on himself because of a lack of attention to taking respectable care of himself in his life. He is troubled by diseases which are caused by dirt in his family because of such lack of responsiveness to bathing properly in his life.

This person is like the hens which bathed by pouring water only by water without nicely cleaning, because he also pours water on his body and finishes bathing, in his life. That is why people call him as “Chicken’s playing with dust.”

This proverb teaches people about being careful enough to bathe and take respectable care of themselves until they are clean, so that they can protect themselves from diseases which are caused by dirt, in their family lives.
