1379. LOLAGA GUMITWALILI.

Akahayile kenako kahoyelile munhu uyo agatung’wa gujusola ginhu ijo jalijitulile kumitwe ya bhulili. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agaduma ugujibhona ijikolo jinijo kunguno ololaga kungi duhu.  Uweyi agakija ugwitegeleja chiza aho alitung’wa ugujujisola ijikolo jinijo. Hunagwene uyo agantuma agang’wila giki, “lolaga gumitwalili.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo aditegelejaga chiza ulu alinhiwa nimo go gutumama na bhatale bhakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikalaga wikanika mihayo yingi ulu alitung’wa gujutumama nimo na bhatale bhakwe bhenabho kunguno ya guduma gwitegeleja chiza umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agagayiyaga imilimo ya gung’wenhela sabho aha kaya yake kunguno ya gukija gwitegeleja chiza ulu alinhiwa imilimo na bhatale bhakwe bhenabho, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo agakija gwitegeleja chiza aho agatung’wa gujusola ginhu ijo jalijitulile kumitwe ya bhulili, kunguno nuweyi aditegelejaga chiza ulu alinhiwa nimo na bhatale bhakwe umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene bhagang’wilaga giki, “lolaga gumitwalili.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na wigeteleja bho guidebha chiza imilimo iyo bhalinhiwa na bhatale bhabho, kugiki bhadule guitumama chiza imilimo yabho yiniyo, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: ANGALIA KICHWANI.

Msemo huo huongelea mtu aliyetumwa kwenda kuchukua kitu ambacho kilikuwa kichwani mwa kitanda. Mtu huyo alishindwa kukiona kitu hicho kwa sababu alikuwa akiangalia kwengine tu. Yeye hakuwa na umakini wa kusikiliza maelekezo ya yule aliyekuwa akimtuma kwenda kukichukua kitu hicho. Ndiyo maana yule mtu aliyemtuma alimwambia kwamba “angalia kichwani.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwa hasikilizi vizuri anapopewa kazi na wakubwa wake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo huwa anawaza mawazo mengine anapopewa kazi na wakubwa wake, kwa sababu ya kutokusikiliza vizuri maelekezo maishani mwake. Yeye hukosa kazi za kumpatia mali kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya kukosa umakini wa kusikiliza vizuri anapopewa kazi na wakubwa wake, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule ambaye hakusikiliza kwa umakini alipotungwa kwenda kuchukua kitu kilichokuwa kimekwa kichwani mwa kitanda, kwa sababu naye huwa hasikilizi kwa umakini anapopewa kazi na wakubwa wake, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana wao humwambia kwamba, “angalia kichwani.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuzielewa vizuri kazi wanazopewa na wakubwa wao, ili waweze kuzitekeleza vziuri kazi hizo, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: LOOK AT THE HEAD.

This saying refers to a person who was sent to pick up something that was put at a bed head side. This person failed to see it because of looking elsewhere. He was not paying attention to an instruction of the one who sent him to pick it up. That is why such person told him to “look at the head.”

This saying is equated to a person who does not listen well to what is said when he is given a task by his superiors. Such person tends to think of other things when he is given a task by his seniors, because of not paying attention to the given instructions in his life. He misses chances that would provide him with wealth for his family developments because of not paying such attention to those instructions of doing a given task by his elders in his life.

This person is like the one who did not listen carefully what he was told when he was ordered to pick up something that was put at the bed head side, because he also does not listen carefully to instructions of doing a given task by his directors, in his life. That is why they tell him to “look at the head.”

This saying teaches people about being careful enough to understand directions of doing the assigned tasks to them by their seniors, so that they can nicely carry them out in their lives.

1378. AGUB’AMBALAGA.

Oliyo ng’wikaji umo umuchalo ja Ng’watuju. Ung’wikaji ng’wunuyo agiduma na ng’wiye bho gwiwila mihayo yabhubhi kunguno ya bhupelanu bhobho bhunubho. Uweyi agaihungo ugwibhona nuyo bhiduma nang’hwe kunguno oliogoha giki agumanyika ukubhiye. Hunagwene abhanhu aho bhambadija umo wihungilaga bhagayomga biki, “agub’ambalaga.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kulimunhu uyo agogohaga ugufunya ililange lya wiza ukubhanhu bhakwe kunguno ya gwita mihayo ya soni habhutongi yabho, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Umunhu ung’wunuyo, agang’waga walwa olewa, wandya guyudukila bhanhu na gwiduma nabho sagara kunguno ya gugayiwa witegeleja umukikalile kakwe kenako. Uweyi agabhonaga soni ugubhalela bho gubhinha lilange lya wiza abhanhu bha ha kaya yakwe kunguno ya gwita mihayo ya soni habhutongi ya bhanhu bhakwe bhenabho, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo agiduma na ng’wiye uihunga ugwibhona nang’hwe, kunguno nuweyi agitaga mihayo ya soni oyogaha ugubhalanga ililange ilya wiza abhanhu bha ha kaya yakwe yiniyo, umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhakwe bhenabho bhagang’wilaga giki, “agub’ambalaga.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na witogwi na bhanhu bhose bho gwikala na nhungwa jawiza, kugiki bhadule kujilela chiza ikaya jabho jinijo, umuwikaji bhobho bhunubho.

KISWAHILI: ANAKWEPA.

Alikwepo mkazi mmoja kwenye kijiji cha Mwatuju. Mkazi huyo alikosana na mwenzake kwa kuambiana maneno ya aibu, kwa sababu ya hasira zao hizo. Yeye alianza kukwepa kuonana na yule waliyekosana naye hata akiwepo kwenye kikundi fulani cha watu. Ndiyo maana watu walipomgundua alivyokuwa akikwepa kuonana naye walisema kwamba, “anakwepa.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huogopa kuwapa malezi mema watu wa kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya hutenda matendo ya aibu mbele yao, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hulewa pombe na kuanza kutukana watu na kukosana nao hovyo, kwa sababu ya kukosa umakini katika maisha yake hayo. Yeye huona aibu kuwapatia malezi mema watu wake hao, kwa sababu ya kutenda matendo hayo ya aibu mbele yao, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyekosana na mwenzake akawa anaogopa kuonana naye, kwa sababu naye hutenda matendo ya aibu na kuanza kuona aibu kuwapatia malezi mema watu wa kwenye familia yake hiyo, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu wake hao humwambia kwamba, “anakwepa.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na upendo kwa watu wote, kwa kuishi katika maadili mema, ili waweze kuzilea vyema familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: HE IS ESCAPING.

There was a resident in Mwatuju village. This resident quarreled with another person by saying embarrassing words to each other, because of their anger. He began to avoid seeing such person whom they quarreled with even when he was in a certain group of people. That is why when people noticed him avoiding seeing him, they said, “He is escaping.”

This saying is related to a person who is afraid to give decent upbringings to the people in his family because he commits shameful acts in front of them, in his life. Such person, drinks alcohol of the point of starting to curse people and quarreling with them carelessly, because of his lack of attention in his life. He feels ashamed to give respectable upbringings to his people, because of committing those shameful acts in front of them, in his life.

This person resembles the one who quarreled with another person to the point of becoming afraid to see him, because he also commits shameful acts to the point of feeling ashamed to give upright upbringing to the people in his family. That is why his people tell him that “He is escaping.”

This saying imparts in people an idea about loving all people, by living in decent morals, so that they can raise their families well, in their lives.

1377. OKONILE NYAYANDA.

Akahayile kenako kanholelile ningi uyo agalema gwikinda na lilingi litale kulebha ubheyi. Uningi ng’wunuyo agawilwa gwikinda na lilingi ilo lyaliliduja gulebha uweyi ulema, kunguno agamana igiki agukindwa duhu. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wila giki, “okonile nyayanda.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agatumamaga imilimo iyo alinabhudula nayo umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agitaga bhukengeji bho milimo yakwe haho atali ugwandya uguitumama mpaga obhona isolobho yayo na oyitumama lulu, kunguno ya witegeleja bhokwe bhunubho umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agapandikaga sabho ningi noyi aha kaya yakwe kunguno ya gutumama milimo yakwe na witegeleja bhunubho, umukikalile kakwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo agalema ugwikinda nu ningi uyo olinduja gulebha uweyi, kunguno nuweyi adaitumamaga imilimo iyo adaidulile umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “okonile nyayanda.”

KISWAHILI: AMEKATAA KITOTO.

Msemo huo humwongelea manju ambaye ni kiongozi ya mchezo wa ngoma  aliyekataa kushindana na mwingine aliyekuwa mkubwa kupita yeye. Manju huyo, aliambiwa ashindane na manju huyo aliyekuwa maalufu zaidi kuliko yeye, akataa, kwa sababu alielewa kwamba atashindwa tuu. Ndiyo maana watu walimwambia kwamba, “amekataa kitoto.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana umakini wa kuyatekeleza majukumu yale anayaweza tu, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hufanya utafiti wa kumwezesha kufahamu faida ya kazi anazotaka kuzifanya na kujirithisha kwamba anao uwezo wa kuzifanya, ndipo anaanza kuzitekeleza, kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo maishani mwake. Yeye hupata mali nyingi sana kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya kuyatekeleza majukumu yake hayo, baada ya kuyafanyia utafiti wa kutosha kuyafahamu vizuri, kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyekataa kushindana na kiongozi wa ngoma mwenzake aliyekuwa na uwezo mkubwa kuliko wake, kwa sababu naye huyatekeleza majukumu yale aliyoyafanyia utafiti wa kumwezesha kuyafahamu vziuri. Utafiti huo humwezesha kuacha kuzifanya kazi zile ambazo haziwezi, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “amekataa kitoto.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuzifanyia utafiti kazi zao kabla hawajaanza kuzitekeleza, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi katika kazi zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: HE HAS REFUSED CHILDISHLY.

This saying refers to a man who is a leader of a traditional dance group who refused to compete with another one who was older than him. This leader when asked to compete with such leader who was more famous than him, refused, because he understood that he would only lose. That is why people told him that, “he has refused childishly.”

This saying is paralleled to a person who is focused on carrying out tasks that he can only sort out, in his life. Such person, does researches which can enable him to understand benefits of tasks which he wants to make sure of and convince himself that he has an ability of sorting them out, then he starts to carry them out, because of his focus in his life. He earns a lot of wealth in his family because of carrying out his tasks, after doing enough decent researches to apprehend them well, because of his focus, in his life.

This person resembles the one who refused to compete with a fellow traditional dance group leader who was more capable than him, because he also carries out the tasks that he has studied enough to comprehend them better. This study enables him to stop doing tasks that he is not capable of, in his life. That is why people say to him that, “he has refused childishly.”

This saying teaches people about being careful enough to study their tasks before they start implementing them, so that they can achieve great success in their works, in their life.

1376. IYINIYO NG’HANJO IZWALILAGE GUNTWE.

Alihoyi munhu uyo agangulila ng’hanjo ng’wana okwe. Aliyo lulu ung’wana okwe ng’wunuyo agaduma uguizwala aho winhiwa ing’hanjo yiniyo kunguno oliadaimanile. Hunagwene umyaji okwe ng’wunuyo agang’wila giki, “iyiniyo ng’hanjo izwalilage guntwe.”

Akahayike kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kubhatongezi abho bhagabhatongelaga chiza abhanhu bhabho umukikalile kabho. Abhanhu bhenabho bhagalitumilaga ilikanza lyabho bho gubhalanga abhanhu bhabho akatumamile ka jikolo jabho bho gwikala chiza na bhanhu, kunguno ya bhutungilija bhobho bhunubho, umuwikaji bhobho.  Abhoyi bhagikalaga na bhuyegi bhutale umuchalo jabho kunguno ya gubhatongela chiza abhanhu bhabho bhenabho umubhutongeji bhobho.

Abhatongeji bhenabho bhagikolaga nu myaji uyo agananga ng’wana okwe guzwala ng’hanjo chiza, kunguno nabhoyi bhagabhalangaga abhanhu bhabho ugujitumamila chiza ijikolo jabho bho gwikala chiza na bhanhu, umuwikaji bhobho. Hunagwene bhagabhawilaga abhanhu bhabho giki, “iyiniyo ng’hanjo izwalilage guntwe.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhatongeji higulya ya kubhalanga abhanhu bhabho nzila ja gujitumamila chiza isabho jabho bho gwikala chiza na bhabho, kugiki bhadule gwikala na bhuyegi bhutale umubhutongeji bhobho bhunubho.

KISWAHILI: HIYO NI KANZU IVALIE KICHWANI.

Alikuwepo mtu mmoja aliyemununulia mtoto wake kanzu. Lakini mtoto huyo alishindwa kuivaa hiyo kanzu kwa sababu alikuwa hajaifahamu. Ndiyo maana mzazi wake huyo alimfundisha namna ya kuivaa kwa kumwambia kwamba, “hiyo ni kanzu ivalie kichwani.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa viongozi wale ambao huwaongoza vizuri watu wao, katika maisha yao. Viongozi hayo, huutumia muda wao kwa kuwafundisha watu wao namna na kuvitumia vizuri mali zao kwa kuishi vizuri na watu, kwa sababu ya uaminifu wao huo. Wao huishi kwa furaha kubwa katika nchi zao kwa sababu ya kuwafundisha watu wao namna ya kuzitumia mali zao kwa kuishi vizuri na watu wao, katika uongozi wao.

Viongozi hao hufanana na yule mzazi aliyemfundiswa mtoto wake namna ya kuivaa vizuri kanzu yake, kwa sababu nao huwafundisha watu wao namna ya kuvitumia vitu vyao kwa kuishi vizuri na watu wao, maishani mwao. Ndiyo maana wao huwaambia watu wao kwamba, “hiyo ni kanzu ivalie kichwani.”

Msemo huo hufundisha viongozi juu ya kuwafundisha wao namna ya kuzitumami mali zao kwa kuishi vizuri na watu wao, ili waweze kuwa na furaha kubwa katika uongozi wao.

ENGLISH: THAT IS A COAT WEAR IT ON THE HEAD.

There was a man who bought his son a coat. But the son failed to wear the coat because he did not know it. That is why his parent taught him on how to wear it by telling him that, “that is a coat wear it on the head.”

This saying is matched to those leaders who lead their people well, in their lives. These leaders spend their time by teaching their people on how to use their wealth well to live well with the people, because of their loyalty. They live very happily in their countries because they teach their people on how to use their wealth well enough to live well with their people in their leadership.

These leaders are like the parent who taught his son on how to wear his coat well, because they also teach their people on how to use their possessions enough to live well with their people, in their lives. That is why they tell their people that, “that is a coat wear it on the head.”

This proverb imparts in leaders an idea on how to manage their resources by living well with their people, so that they can have great joy in their leadership.

1375. OLYAGA JIDALIYAGWA.

Aho kale olihoyi munhu uyo agalya noni iyo itanagwa jimila nzoka. Umunhu ng’wunuyo oliadamamine igiki inoyi yiniyo idaliyagwa. Aho oilya inoyi yiniyo, agandya guyukolwa nota bho guyulomba minzi gagung’wa bhuli makanza.  Uweyi agagang’wa aminzi genayo mpaga uzumalika kunguno inhumbi yakwe igokala yugabhitilija iki inota yakwe yaliadashilaga. Abhanhu bhagamana igiki olyaga noni iyo idaliyawa kunguno olombaga aminzi gagung’wa ukunu aliyomba giki, “nalyaga jimila nzoka.” Hunagwene bhagayomba giki, “olyaga didaliyagwa.”

Akahayile kenako kagalengajiyagwa kuli munhu uyo ali naku ogulya majiliwa guti onyama, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agajilyaga ijiliwa guti nyama mpaga ujimala uluojipandikaga kunguno ya bhulaku bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agikalaga ubhahuga ugulya nyama abhanhu bha ha kaya yakwe mpaga yayusata inhumbi yakwe kunguno ya bhulaku bhokwe bhunubho, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo agalya noni iyo idaliyagwa ung’wa minzi mpaka uzumalike bho gokala mpaga yutilija inhumbi yakwe, kunguno nuweyi agayokajaga inhumbi yakwe bho gulya nyama mpaga yayusata, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “olyaga jidaliyagwa.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kuleka bhulagu bho gulya jiliwa sagara mpaka bhabhitilija, kugiki bhadule gujilela chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho bhunubho.

Walawi 11:13-19.

KISWAHILI: AMEKULA KISICHOLIWA.

Hapo zamani alikuwepo mtu aliyekula ndege anayeitwa kimeza nyoka. Mtu huyo alikuwa hajui kwamba ndege huyo haliwi. Alipo mla ndege huyo alianza kujisikia kiu kwa kuomba maji kila wakati. Yeye alikunywa maji hayo mpaga akapoteza maisha yake kwa sababu ya kujaa tumbo lake mpaka kupitiliza.

Watu waligundua kuwa amekula ndege huyo asiyeliwa kwa sababu alikuwa akiomba maji ya kunywa huku akisema “nimekula kimeja nyoka.” Ndiyo maana watu hao walisema kwamba, “amekula kisicholiwa.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni mlafi wa kula chakula hasa nyama katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hula vyakula hivyo hasa nyama mpaka anazimaliza kila anapozipata kwa sababu ya ulafi wake huo, maishani mwake. Yeye huwapunja kula nyama watu walioko kwenye familia yake mpaga tumbo lake huanza kuuma, kwa sababu ya ulafi wake huo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyekula ndege asiyeliwa apawa na kiu ya kunywa maji mpaka akapoteza maisha yake kwa kujaa tumbo lake zaidi ya kipimo cha kawaida, kwa sababu naye hulijaza tumbo lake kwa kula nyama mpaga linanza kuuma, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “amekula kisicholiwa.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha ulafi wa kula vyakula hovyo mpaka wanapitiliza ili waweze kuzilea vyema familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: HE HAS EATEN SOMETHING WHICH IS NOT EATEN.

Once upon a time, there was a man who ate a bird called a snake swaller. Such man did not know that such bird is not eaten. After eating it he began to feel thirsty. He requested for water all the time. He drank such water to the point of losing his life because his stomach was too much full.

People realized that he had eaten the uneaten bird because he was asking for water to drink while saying “I have eaten a snake swaller.” That is why those people said that, “he has eaten which is not eaten.”

This saying is paralleled to a person who is a gluttony for food, especially meat, in his life. This person eats those foods, especially meat, until he finishes them every time he gets them because of his gluttony, in his life. He exploits people in his family by eating too much meat until his stomach starts to give pain to him, because of his gluttony, in his life.

This person is like the one who ate an uneaten bird until he became thirsty for water by drinking it to the point of he losing his life after filling his stomach beyond the normal limit, because he also fills his stomach by eating too much meat, in his life. That is why people say to him that, “He has eaten something which is not eaten.”

This proverb teaches people on how to stop eating too much food so that they can properly feed their families, in their lives.
