Aho kale olihoyi munhu uyo agalima ngunda go mandege ugapandika mingi aha kaya yake. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agayugalya amandege genayo bho nduhu ugubhalonja abhiye abho wikalaga nabho kunguno ya wiminholo bhokwe bhunubho, umukikalile kakwe. Uweyi agoya nugubhadegeleka abhanhu bhakwe bhenebho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wila giki, “lyaga mandege udegeleke bhanhu.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agapandikaga sabho wandya gubhadosa abhiye umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agajipandikaga isabho oya ugubhadegeleka abho bhalilomba wambilija bhokwe, kunguno ya bhudoshi bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agadumaga uguilela chiza ikaya yakwe kunguno ya bhudoshi bhokwe bhunubho ubho agabholechaga ukubhiye ulu opajindika isabho jinijo, umukikalile kakwe.

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya guleka gubhadosa abhichabho ulupandika sabho ningi, umubhutumami bhobho, kugiki bhadule kujilanhana chiza ikaya jabho jinijo, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: KULA MAHINDI USIKILIZE WATU.

Hapo zamani alikuwepo mtu ambaye alilima shamba la mahindi akapata mahindi mengi kwenye familia yake. Mtu huyo, alianza kuyala mahindi hayo bila ya kuwajali wenzake aliokuwa akiishi nao kwa sababu ya uchoyo wake huo, katika maisha yake. Yeye aliacha hata kuwasikiliza watu wake hao. Ndiyo maana watu walimwambia kwamba, “kula mahindi usikilize watu.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hupata mali na kuanza kuwalingia wenzake katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hupata mali hizo na kuacha kuwasikiliza wale wanaoomba msaada wake, kwa sababu ya majivuno yake hayo, maishani mwake. Yeye hushindwa kuilea vyema familia yake hiyo kwa sababu ya majivuno yake hayo ayaoneshayo kwa wenzake apatapo mali nyingi, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyelima shamba la mahindi akapata mengi mpaga akaacha kuwasilikiza wenzake, kwa sababu naye hupata mali nyingi na kuacha kuwasikiliza wale wanaohitaji masaada wake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “kula mahindi usikilize watu.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha kuwalingia watu wanapopata mali nyingi, katika utekelezaji wa majukumu yao, ili waweze kuzilinda vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: EAT MAIZE LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE.

Once upon a time there was a man who cultivated a corn field and got a lot of corns for his family. This person started eating the corns without caring about his colleagues whom he lived with because of his greed, in his life. He stopped even listening to his people. That is why people told him that, “eat maize listen to people.”

This saying is compared to a person who looks down on his colleagues after becoming rich in his life. Such person, gets those assets and stops listening to those who ask for his help, because of his pride, in his life. He fails to raise his family well because of his pride that he shows to his colleagues after getting a lot of wealth in his life.

This person is like the one who stopped communicating with his colleagues after getting a lot of corns, because he also stopped listening to those who need his help after getting a lot of wealth in his life. That is why people tell him that, “eat maize listen to people.”

This saying teaches people to stop pride of looking down at people after getting a lot of wealth in fulfilling their duties, so that they can protect their families well, in their lives.

Abhanhu bhenabho bhagikolaga nabho bhagayikenagula inumba iyo bhalizunilija guyizenga, kunguno nabhoyi bhagabhasalambanyaga abhanhu bhabho bho guleka gubhalanga kajile kawiza, umuwikaji bhobho bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanbhu bhagabhawilaga giki, “unpangi osi nu minzi osi ng’winikili.”

KISWAHILI: MPANGA NCHI NDIYE MVUNJA NCHI MWENYEWE.

Msemo huo, huongelea juu ya watu waliopanga kufanya kazi fulani waliyokubaliana vizuri, wakaja kuiharibu wao wenyewe. Watu hao, walikubaliana kujenga nyumba ya kuishi waalimu wa shule. Nyumba hiyo, waliharibu wao wenyewe kwa sababu ya kukosa uelewano mzuri, katika maisha yao. Ndiyo maana watu waliwaambia kwamba, “mpanga nchi ndiye mvunja nchi mwenyewe.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa watu walioko kwenye familia ile ambayo huwatelekeza hovyo watu wake mpaga tabia zao zinaharibika. Watu hao, huwa hawawajali watu wao wakiwemo watoto wao, kwa sababu ya kujijali wao wenyewe tu katika maisha yao. Wao huisambalatisha familia yao hiyo, kwa sababu ya kutowajali watu wao kwa kuwapatia malezi mema, maishani mwao.

Watu hao, hufanana na wale walioiharibu nyumba ya kukaa waalimu waliyokubaliana kuijenga, kwa sababu nao huwasambalatisha watoto wao kwa kutowapatia malezi mema, katika maisha yao. Ndiyo maana watu huwaambia kwamba, “mpanga nchi ndiye mvunja nchi mwenyewe.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na uelewano wa kuyatekeleza majukumu yao ya kuwapatia malezi mema watu wao, ili waweze kuzilea vyema familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THE PLANNER OF THE COUNTRY IS THE DESTROYER OF THE COUNTRY HIM/HERSELF.

This saying parleys about people who planned to do a work which they had agreed on well, then came to destroy it themselves. Those people agreed to build a house for school teachers to live. They destroyed such house themselves because of lacking good understanding, in their lives. That is why people told them that, “the planner of the country is the destroyer of the country him/herself.”

This saying is equaled to people in the family that neglect their people when their behavior deteriorates. Those people do not care about their people including their children, because they only care about themselves in their lives. They tear their family apart, because of not caring about their people by providing them with a good upbringing, in their lives.

Those people are similar to those who destroyed the teacher’s residence that they agreed to build, because they also destroy their children by not providing them with good education in their lives. That is why people tell them that, “the planner of the country is the destroyer of the country him/herself.”

This saying imparts in people an idea about having an understanding of carrying out their responsibilities enough to provide good education to their people, so that they can raise their families well, in their lives.

Abhabyaji bhenabho, bhantumaga ung’wana obho ng’wunuyo, ukija ugubhadilila chiza kunguno ya bhugayiwa bhokwe bho likujo ukubhoyi chiniko. Hunagwene umo o bhabyaji bhakwe bhenabho, agayomba giki, “naponya ung’wana nusaja iheshi.”

Akahayile kaneko kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo ali nambu ugubhigwa abhatale bhakwe, umukikalile kakwe kenako. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agatumagwa guja gujutumama milimo na bhatale bhakwe bhenabho, ulema kunguno ya nhinda jakwe jinijo, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agadumaga ugwikala chiza aha kaya yakwe kunguno ya bhulambu bhokwe bhunubho, umukikalile kakwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo otumagwa gujutumama milimo na bhabyaji bhokwe okija ugubhadilila, kunguno nuweyi agatumagwa gujutumama milimo na bhatale bhakwe olema uguja, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene umo o bhatale bhakwe bhenabho, agayombaga giki, “naponya ung’wana nusaja iheshi.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kuleka nhungwa ja bhulambu bho bhulema gutung’wa na bhatale bhabho, kugiki bhadule gupandika mbango ya gubhiza na matwajo mingi, ga gujibheja chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: NILITUPA MTOTO NIKABAKIZA KONDO LA NYUMA.

Msemo huo, huongelea juu ya wazazi waliokuwa na mtoto aliyekuwa mgumu kuwatii. Wazazi hao, walikuwa wakimtuma mtoto wao huyo, bila ya yeye kuwajali vizuri, kwa sababu ya kukosa heshima kwake kwa wazazi wake hao. Ndiyo maana mmoja wa wazazi wake hao alisema kwamba, “nilitupa mtoto nikabakiza kondo la nyuma.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana kiburi katika kuwasikiliza wakubwa wake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hutumwa kwenda kufanya kazi na wakubwa wake hao bila ya kuwajali, kwa sababu ya kiburi chake hicho, maishani mwake. Yeye hushindwa kuishi vizuri nyumbani kwake kwa sababu ya kiburi chake hicho, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na mtoto yule aliyekosa utii kwa wazazi waliomtuma kwenda kufanya kazi, kwa sababu naye hukataa kuwatii wakubwa wake wanaomtuma kwenye kufanya kazi, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana mmoja wa wakubwa hao husema kwamba, “nilitupa mtoto nikabakiza kondo la nyuma.”

Msemo huo, huwafundisha watu juu ya kuacha kuwa na kiburi kwa wakubwa wao wanaowatuma kwenda kufanya kazi, kwa kuwa na utii kwao, ili waweze kupata Baraka za kuziendeleza vizuri, familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: “I THREW THE BABY AWAY AND KEPT THE PLACENTA.”

This saying speaks of parents who had a child that had difficult in obeying them. Those parents sent their child to do something without him taking good care of them, because of his lack of respect to them. That is why one of his parents said that, “I threw the baby away and kept the placenta.”

This saying is equated to a person who has pride that prevents him from listening to his seniors, in his life. Such person is sent to work by his superiors without caring about them, because of his pride, in his life. He fails to live well in his home because of his pride, in his life.

This person is similar to the child who disobeyed his parents sent by not going to work, because he also refuses to obey his leaders who send him to work, in his life. That is why one of them says that, “I threw the baby away and kept the placenta.”

This saying teaches people about being obedient to their leaders who send them to work, by being humble to them, so that they can get blessings for bringing development to their families, in their lives.

Hunagwene bhagayombaga giki, “dugankumilijaga ujidab’onwa.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kubhanhu abho bhagatumamaga milimo yabho bho gung’wisanya Mulungu, umukikalile kabho.  Abhanhu bhenabho bhalinaguzunya gutale ukuli Mulungu uyo agabhinhaga nguzu ja gutumama milimo yabho mpaga bhayimala chiza, kunguno ya bhudula bhokwe bhunubho. Abhoyi bhagapandika sabho ningi umukaya jabho, na kubhalela chiza abhanhu bhabho kunguno ya gung’wisanya Mulungu chiniko, umuwikaji bhobho.

Wao hupata mali nyingi kwenye familia zao, na huwalea vizuri watu wao, kwa sababu ya kumtegemea Mungu, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: WE PRAISE THE UNSEEN.

This saying parleys about people who praise the unseen one in their lives. Those people grow food crops that are rained on until they bear fruits without seeing the one who brought the rain. They believe that God exists by looking at actions which He does to them even if they do not see Him. That is why they say that, “We praise the unseen.”

This saying is compared to people who do their works by relying on God, in their lives. Those people have great faith in God who gives them strength for carrying out their duties, until they finish them well, because of His power. They get a lot of wealth from their families, and they raise their people well, because of relying on God, in their lives.

Those people are similar to those who praised God after cultivating food crops and getting success, because they also do their works until they finish them by relying on God, in their lives. That is why they say that, “we praise the unseen.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of trusting God and carrying out all their duties by relying on Him, so that they can get blessings of having many successes in their lives.

Agapandika munhu oguntongela uyo agamitija ng’wisanza gutu kunguno ya kugaiwa witegeleja bhokwe untongeji okwe ng’winuyo. Hunagwene untongelwa agayomba giki, “nagathitiwa ng’wi sanza gutu.”

Uweyi agabhajimijaga sagala abhanhu bha ha kaya yakwe yiniyo kunguno ya kugaiwa witegeleja bhunubho, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agamitya ng’wisanza gutu ung’wiye, kunguno nu weyi agabhalekanijaga mpaga bhajimila sagara abhanhhu bhakwe bhenabho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhenabho, bhagombaga giki, “nagathitiwa ng’wi sanza gutu.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwaongoza watu bila kuwa na umakini, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwatelekeza hovyo watu anaowaongoza kwa sababu ya kukosa umakini huo, maishani mwake. Yeye huwapoteza hovyo watu walioko kwenye familia yake, kwa sababu ya kutokuwa na umakini huo katika uongozi wake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyempitisha mwenzake kwenye wigo, kwa sababu naye huwatelekeza watu wake hao mpaka wanapotea hovyo. Ndiyo maana watu hao husema kwamba, “nimepitishwa kwenye wigo.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuwaongoza vizuri watu wao hao, ili waweze kuzilea vyema familia zao hizo, maishaini mwao.

The source of the above saying talks about leading a person on a backyard. There was a man who went on a visit to a certain village that he had not been there before. He found someone to guide him there who passed him on the backyard because of his lack of focus. That is why the guided one said that, “I have been passed on the backyard.”

This saying is related to a person who leads people without being focused, in his life. Such person carelessly neglects people whom he leads because of lack of focus in his life. He carelessly loses his family members, because of that lack of focus in his leadership.

This person is similar to the one who passed his noble on the backyard, because he also abandons his people until they are lost. That is why one of those people say that, “I have been passed on the backyard.”

This saying imparts in people an idea about being focused on leading their people well, so that they can be successfully in raising well their families in their societies.
