Aho kale olihoyi munhu uyo agageniha ha kaya ya ng’wa munhu nhebhe. Abhanhu bha ha kaya yiniyo, bhambokela chiza noyi bho gung’winha malya managaluku ayo galigikujo litale, kunguno ya wizanholo bhobho bhunubho umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene ungeni ng’wunuyo aho olya chiza agayomba giki, “nagabhona makangalasi.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenanijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo aling’wiza nholo aha kaya yakwe umukikalile kakwe kenako. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agabhabokelaga abhageni bhakwe chiza bho gubhagalila jiliwa jisoga noyi kunguno ya wizanholo bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agikalaga na bhanhu bhingi aha kaya yakwe yiniyo kunguno ya wizanholo bhokwe bhunubho ubho gubhagalila chiza abhageni bhakwe, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga na bhanhu bha ha kaya iyo igangalila chiza ungeni obho, kunguno nuweyi agabhabokelaga na gubhagalila chiza abhageni bhakwe bhenabho, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunhubho. Hunagwene umo o bhageni bhakwe bhenabho agayomba giki, “nagabhona makangalasi.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kubhiza na wizanholo bho gubhabokela na gubhagalila chiza abhageni bhabho kugiki bhadule gupandika mpango ja gwikala na bhuyeji bhutale umukaya jabho jinijo.

KISWAHILI: NIMEONA CHAKULA KITAMU.

Hapo zamani alikuwepo mtu aliyetembelea kwenye familia ya mtu fulani. Watu wa kwenye familia hiyo, walimpokea vizuri na kumpikia chakula kitamu cha heshima kubwa, kwa sababu ya ukarimu wao huo, maishani mwao. Ndiyo maana yule mgeni alipokula kile chakula alisema kwamba, “nimeona chakula kitamu.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni mkarimu kwenye familia yake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwapokea wageni wake vizuri na kuwaandalia chakula kitamu kwa sababu ya ukarimu wake huo, maishani mwake. Yeye huishi na watu wengi kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya ukarimu wake huo wa kuwatunza vizuri wageni wake, katika maisha yake hayo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na wale watu wa kwenye familia ile iliyo mkarimu vizuri mgeni wao, kwa sababu naye huwapokea vizuri na kuwapikia chakula kizuri wageni wake, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana mmoja wa wageni hao husema kwamba, “nimeona chakula kitamu.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na ukarimu wa kuwapokea na kuwatunza vizuri wageni wao, ili waweze kupata Baraka za kuishi kwa furaha kubwa katika familia zao, mashaini mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE SEEN A DELICIOUS MEAL.

Once upon a time, there was a man who visited a certain family. The individuals of that family welcomed him well and cooked him a delicious meal of great respect, because of their hospitality in their lives. That is why when the guest ate the meal said, “I have seen a delicious meal.”

This saying is matched to a person who is generous in his family in his life. This person welcomes his guests well and prepares for them a delicious meal because of his hospitality in his life. He lives with various persons in his family because of his hospitality of taking decent care of his guests in his life.

This person is similar to the people of that family who were generous to their guests, because they also welcome them well and cook decent foodstuff for their guests in their lives. That is why one of those guests says, “I have seen a delicious meal.”

This saying teaches people about being hospitable enough to receive and take upright care of their guests, so that they can receive blessings of living happily in their families in their homes.

Akahayile kenako kahoyilelile bhuding’wa bho ng’wa munhu uyo witaga mihayo ya bhubhi. Olihoyi munhu uyo wikalaga muchalo jilebhe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, ofumaga bhujibu ogasola jiliwa mumigunda ya bhanhu kunguno oling’wib’i. Lushigu lumo agabhonwa na bhinikili ngunda aho alisola ijiliwa jinijo mpaga bhundima. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayomba giki, “onyakagwa.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agitaga mihayo ya bhubhi aliganika kigi adumanyika, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agiitaga imihayo iya bhubhi yiniyo bho gwibha sabho ja bhanhu na gushia na bhakima bha bhanhu, kunguno ya nhungwa jakwe ijabhubhi jinijo umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agikalaga ukoya na mihayo umuchalo jakwe kunguno ya guding’wa bhuli makanza ulu osangwa aliita imihayo iya bhubhi yiniyo, umukikalile kakwe.

Umunhu ung’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo wibhaga jiliwa ja bhanhu mumigunda yabho mpaga uding’wa, kunguno nuweyi agitaga mihayo ya bhubhi mpaga oding’wa, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhayombaga giki, “onyakagwa.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kuleka nhungwa ja gwita mihayo ya bhubhi, bho gwita yawiza, kugiki bhadule gujibheja chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: AMEKAMATWA.

Msemo huo, huongelea juu ya kushikwa kwa mtu anayetenda maovu. Alikuwepo mtu aliyeishi kwenye kijiji fulani. Mtu huyo, alikuwa akienda kuchukua chakula kwenye mashamba ya watu usiku kwa sababu alikuwa mwizi. Siku moja wenye mashamba hayo walimuona alipokuwa akiiba mazao yao wakamkamata. Ndiyo maana watu walisema kwamba, “amekamatwa.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hutenda maovu akifikiri kwamba hawezi kujulikana katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hutenda maovu hayo kwa kuiba mali za watu na kuchukua wake za watu, kwa sababu ya tabia yake hiyo mbaya, maishani mwake. Yeye husumbuliwa na matatizo ya kujitetea kwenye kesi mbalimbali kwa sababu ya kukamatwa mara kwa mara akitenda maovu hayo kijijini mwake, katika maisha yake hayo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule mwizi aliyechukuwa chakula kwenye mashamba ya watu usiku mpaka akakamatwa, kwa sababu naye hutenda maovu mpaka anakamatwa, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “amekamatwa.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuachana na tabia za kutenda maovu kwa kutenda mema, ili waweze kuzindeleza vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: HE HAS BEEN ARRESTED.

This saying talks about an arrest of a person who commits evil deeds. There was a man who lived in a certain village. He used to go to people’s fields for getting food at night because he was a thief. One day owners of those fields saw him stealing their crops and arrested him. That is why people said, “He has been arrested.”

This saying is paralleled to a person who commits evil deeds thinking that he will not be known in his life. This person commits these evil deeds by stealing people’s property and taking people’s wives, because of his wicked conduct in his life. He is troubled by glitches of defending himself in various cases because of being repeatedly arrested committing these evil deeds in his village in his life.

This person resembles the thief who took food from people’s fields at night until he was caught, because he also commits evil deeds until he is caught in his life. That is why people say, “He has been arrested.”

This saying instills in people a clue of abandoning evil conducts by doing decent deeds so that they can provide their families with decent success and peace in their lives.

Umunhu ng’wunyo, agikolaga nabho bhagachola nzila ja gung’wambilija unsaidu o miso ng’wunuyo, kunguno nuweyi agabhambilijaga abhasadu bho gubhachala gubhugota mpaga bhapila wangu, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene agayombaga ukuli kuli nsadu giki, “alina b’usungila.”

KISWAHILI: ANA UGONJWA WA MACHO.

Mtu mwenye ugonjwa wa macho huwa na macho mekundu. Mtu huyo, hutoa uchafu mweupe machoni kwenye macho yake kwa sababu ya kuuma kwa macho hayo. Yeye hukosa raha mpaka mwishowe wenzake humtafutia njia za kumsaidia ili aweze kupona haraka. Ndiyo maana wao husema kwamba, “ana ugonjwa wa macho.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwaonea huruma wagonjwa kwa kuwasaidia, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwahurumia wagonjwa hao kwa kutafuta njia za kuwasaidia ili waweze kupona haraka kwa sababu ya huruma yake hiyo, maishani mwake. Yeye huwasaidia wagonjwa hao mpaka wanapona haraka kwa kuwapeleka hospitalini, kwa sababu ya huruma yake hiyo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na wale waliotafuta njia za kumsaidia yule mgonjwa wa macho, kwa sababu naye huwasaidia wagonjwa kwa kuwapeleka kwenye matibabu mpaka wanapona haraka, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana humwelezea mjonjwa kwamba, “ana ugonjwa wa macho.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu kuwa na huruma ya kuwasaidia wagonjwa wao ili waweze kupona haraka, katika maisha yao.

ENGLISH: HE HAS AN EYE DISEASE.

There was person who had an eye disease in a certain village. His eyes became red.  He produced white discharge from his eyes because of pain which he felt from them. He was uncomfortable until finally his colleagues found ways of supporting him so that he could recover quickly. That is why they said that, “he has an eye disease.”

This saying is equaled to a person who feels compassion for sick people enough to assist them in his life. This person feels sympathy for those who face various hitches by finding ways of supporting them so that they can recover quickly because of his kindness in his life. He supports the sick ones until they recover quickly by taking them to the hospital, because of his compassion in life.

This person is similar to those who found ways of supporting the eye patient, because he also aids sick persons by taking them to treatment until they recover quickly in his life. That is why he describes the patient that, “he has an eye disease.”

This saying imparts in individuals an idea of having compassion which enable them to support their patients so that they can recover quickly in their lives.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, ahosanga abhiye bhajilyaga ijiliwa jinijo kunguno ya bhukeleja bhokwe bhunubho abhazugi bhaganzugila jiliwa jingi. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wila giki, “b’ob’itiwa mushiloko.”

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhagalilaga abhanhu bho gubhazugila jiliwa abhoyi pye na bhageni abhagashigaga aha kaya yakwe, kunguno ya wizanholo bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agapandikaga mbango ja gwikala na bhanhu bhingi aha kaya yakwe yiniyo, kunguno ya wizanholo bhokwe bhunubho, umukikalile kakwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nabho bhaganzugila jiliwa umunhu uyo agasanga bhajilyaga ijiliwa jinijo abhiye, kunguno nuweyi alinawizanholo bho gubhazugila jiliwa abhanhu bhakwe pye na bhageni bha ha kaya yakwe yiniyo, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene agabhawilaga abho bhagasangaga jaliyagwa ijiliwa giki, “b’ob’itiwa mushiloko.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana ukarimu wa kuwatunza vizuri watu, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwatunza watu wake hao pamoja na wageni wake kwa kuwapikia chakula, kwa sababu ya ukarimu wake huo, maishani mwake. Yeye hupata baraka za kuishi na watu wengi kwa furaha katika familia yake hiyo, kwa sababu ya ukarimu wake huo, katika maisha yake hayo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na wale wapishi waliompikia chakula mtu yule aliyechelewa kufika kwenye chakula mpaga akakuta wenzake wamemaliza kula, kwa sababu naye ana ukarimu wa kuwatunza kwa kuwapikia chakula watu wake pamoja na wageni wake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “umepitishwa kooni.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na ukarimu wa kuwatendea mema watu wao pamoja na wageni wao wote, ili waweze kupata baraka za kuishi kwa furana kubwa katika familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: IT HAS BEEN PASSED THROUGH AN ESOPHAGUS.

This proverb talks about a person who arrived late to a meal and found that his companions had already eaten. When he found that his companions had already eaten because of his delay, the cooks decided to cook another meal for him. That is why people said to him that, “it has been passed through an esophagus.”

This proverb is matched to the one who is generous in taking decent care of people in his life. This person takes care of his people as well as guests by cooking food for them, because of his generosity. He gets blessings of living happily with several populaces in his family, because of his generosity in his life.

This person is like those cooks who cooked food for the one who arrived late to a meal and found that his companions had finished eating, because he also has kindness of taking care of his folks and guests by cooking food for them. That is why he says, “it has been passed through an esophagus.”

This proverb teaches people on how to be generous by doing decent deeds to their own societal members and all their strangers, so that they can receive blessings from God for living in great abundance in their families.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo wiyumilijaga bho gubhashogeja chiza abhanhu bhenabho. Hunagwene agabhawila giki, “aliyo nadudogolaga.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agikalaga nikujo kubhanhu bhakwe umukikalile kakwe kenako. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhitilaga mihayo ya wiza abhanhu bhakwe bho nduhu gubhadaraha sagala kunguno ya likujo lyakwe linilo umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agikalaga na bhuyeji bhutale na bhanhu bha aha kaya yakwe kunguno ya widohya bhokwe bhunubho ubho gwikala chiza nabhiye, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo obhashokeja chiza abhanhu abho bhambyedelejaga ulu aliiyomba imihayo iya nhana, kunguno nuweyi agabhitilaga mihayo ikujo abhanhu bhakwe bho nduhu gubhadaraha sagala, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene agayombaga gki, “aliyo nadudogolaga.”

Akahayile kenako kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kubhiza na widohya bho gwikala nikujo ukubhanhu bhabho kugiki bhadule gujilela chiza  ikaya jabho jinijo, umuwikaji bhobho.

Hapo zamani alikuwepo mtu aliyeishi katika kijiji cha Bubinza. Mtu hiyo alikuwa akisema ukweli lakini wenzake walikuwa wakimdharau kwa sababu ya dharau zao hizo. Mtu huyo, alivumilia kwa kuwajibi vizuri watu hao. Ndiyo maana alisema kwamba, “sisemi kwa dharau.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule anayewaheshimu watu wake katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwatendea mema watu hao hao bila ya kuwadharau kwa sababu ya unyenyekevu wake huo wa kuwaheshimu watu wake hao, maishani mwake. Yeye huishi kwa furaha kubwa na watu wa kwenye familia yake hiyo, kwa sababu ya unyenyekevu wake huo wa kuwaheshimu watu wake, katika maisha yake hayo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyewajibu kwa heshiwa watu waliomdharau alipowaambia ukweli, kwa sababu naye huwatendea mema watu wake bila ya kuwadharau, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “sisemi kwa dharau.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na unyenyekevu wa kuwaheshimu watu wao ili waweze kuzilea vyema familia zao hizo, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I DO NOT SPEAK WITH DISRESPECT.

Once upon a time, there was a man who lived in the village of Bubinza. He spoke the truth but his earls disrespected him because of their impudence. Such man endured their lack of respect by responding politely to them. That is why he said that, “I do not speak with disrespect.”

This saying is related to a man who respects his family members in his life. This man nicely treats folks without disrespecting them because of his humility of regarding people in his life. He lives with great happiness with his family members, because of his humility of valuing them in his life.

This man resembles the one who responded respectfully to people who disrespected him when he told them the truth, because he also politely treats his people without disrespecting them in his life. That is why he says, “I do not speak with disrespect.”

This saying imparts in societal members an idea of being humble enough to respect their societal members so that they can nicely nurture their families in their lives.
