Ijisuji ja njingo jilisuji ja ng’wa munhu uyo agajaga ogalilila kunjingo. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agajaga ukunjingo ogalila mpaga omala na oshoka ukubhiye kunguno ya gubhabhisa abhiye bhakije ugumana igiki agalilaga.

KISWAHILI: MACHOZI YA UWIGONI.

Machozi ya uwigoni ni machozi ya mtu ambaye huenda hulilia kwenye uwigo wa nyumba. Mtu huyo, huenda kwenye uwigo huo ambako hulia mpaka anamaliza ndipo anaenda kwa wenzake kwa sababu ya kujificha kwa wenzake hao ili wasifahamu kuwa huwa analia.

Lakini basi, watu hao walifahamu mwishowe kuwa yeye huwa anaenda kulia uwigoni kwa sababu ya macho yake kuwa mekundu anapomaliza kulia kule uwigoni. Ndiyo maana watu hao walimuita jila la “machozi ya uwigoni.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana ugonjwa wa kuharisha ambao huufika kwa wenzake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huharisha mpaga anakonda kwa sababu ya kuufisha ugonjwa wake huo kwa wenzake ambao wangeweza kumpeleka hospitalini kutibiwa mapema, maishani mwake. Yeye husumbuliwa na ugonjwa huo mpaga anaishiwa nguvu mwilini mwake, kwa sababu ya kukosa umakini wa kuwahi kwenda kutibiwa hospitalini, katika maisha yake hayo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyeficha machozi yake kwa kwenda kulilia uwigoni, kwa sababu naye huuficha ugonjwa wake mpaga anaishiwa nguvu, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humuita jina la “machozi ya uwigoni.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuacha kuficha matatizo yao, ili waweze kusaidiwa kuyatatua mapema, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: TEARS OF THE KITCHEN GARDEN.

Tears of kitchen garden are tears of a person who cries in the garden of the house. This person goes to the garden where he cries until he finishes doing so and then goes to his friends because of hiding from his friends so that they do not know that he is crying.

But then, those people finally realized that he always goes to the garden to cry because his eyes become red when he finishes crying in the garden. That is why those people called him “tears of the kitchen garden.”

This saying is paralleled to a man who has diarrhea disease which he hides from his friends in his life. This person suffers diarrhea sickness until he becomes thin because of hiding his illness to his friends who could have taken him to the hospital for treatment earlier, in his life. He is troubled by the disease to the point of losing strength in his body, because of lack of responsiveness of going to the hospital for treatment in his life.

This person is like the one who hid his tears by going to the kitchen garden because he also hides his illness until he is exhausted in his life. That is why people call him “tears of the kitchen garden.”

This saying teaches people to be cautious enough to stop hiding their problems, so that they can be helped by others enough to solve them early in their lives.

Ulupa lililintego ili ligategagwa aho igelelilwe gubhita ho ndimu nulu noni nhale. Ulupa lunulo lugapujaga ndimu iyo yupitila hoyi nulu nu munhu uyo ulutegaga ulu ubhitila hoyi lumpuja duhu kunguno ludakominije uo gupuja. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “lupa ludi nang’winikili.”

Ulusumo lunulo lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agabhejaga jilagilo ijo jigampujaga nuweyi ng’winikili, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agabhejaga jilagilo jagulemeja bhanhu gwita ginhu jilebhe nulu ja gubhalemeja guja hanhu, ogisanga jilintunga nuweyi ng’winikili, kungulo ya gugaiwa witegeleja bho jujikalana chiza, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agitungaga ng’winikili ulu ojibhinza ijilagilo jinijo ijo ojibheja ng’winikili, kunguno ya gugaiwa wigetegeleja bhunubho ubho gujikalana chiza, umukikalile kakwe kenako.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agatega lupa wisanga lulimpuja nuweyi ng’winikili, kunguno nuweyi agabhejaga jilagilo ogisanja jilintunga nuweyi ng’winikili, umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “lupa ludi na ng’winikili.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lolanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na witegeleja bho gugikalana chiza amalagilo ayo bhagagabhejaga kugiki bhadule gwikala ni lange lya gujilela chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho bhunubho.

KISWAHILI: MTEGO HAUNA MWENYEWE.

Mtego ni kitu kinachotegwa pale ambapo wanyama poli au ndege wakubwa hupita. Mtego huo, hukamata mnyama yoyote yule apitiaye hapo au hata mtu aliyeutega mtego huo akipitia hapo unamkamata tu kwa sababu haubagui wa kukamata. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “mtego hauna mwenyewe.”

Methali hiyo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hutunga amri au sheria ambazo humfunga yeye mwenyewe, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, gutunga sheria au amri za kuwakataza watu kwenda sehemu fulani, au za kuwakataza kufanya kitu fulani ambazo hujikuta zimemkamata yeye mwenyewe kwa sababu ya kukosa umakini wa kuziishi vizuri, maishani mwake. Yeye hujifunga mwenyewe kila anapozivunja amri hizo alizozitunga mwenyewe, kwa sababu ya kukosa umakini huo wa kuziishi, katika maisha yake hayo.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyetega mtego akajikuta umemkamata yeye mwenyewe, kwa sababu naye hutunga amri au sheria ambazo hujikuta zimemfunga yeye mwenyewe, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “mtego hauna mwenyewe.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuyaishi maagizo yale wanayojitungia ili waweze kuishi kwenye malezi ya kuzilea vyema familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THE TRAP HAS NO OWNER.

A trap is something that is set where large animals or birds pass by. This trap catches any animal that passes by or even the person who set the trap when he/she passes by, it catches them only because it does not tell apart between the ones it catches. That is why people say that, “the trap has no owner.”

This proverb is equated to a person who makes orders or laws that bind him, in his life. Such person makes laws or orders to prohibit people from going to a certain place, or to prohibit them from doing something that he finds himself bound by because of his lack of thoughtfulness for putting them into practice well, in his life. He binds himself every time he breaks those orders that he made himself, because of his lack of responsiveness, in his life.

This person is like the one who set a trap and found himself bound by it, because he also makes orders or laws that he finds himself bound by in his life. That is why people say that, “the trap has no owner.”

This proverb imparts in people an idea of being so cautious enough to live by the instructions they create for themselves so that they can live in a way that will nicely nurture their families throughout their lives.

NIMEMTUA MWANAMKE NDOO KICHWANI.

Alikuwepo mtu katika kijiji cha Mwatuju aliyemtua mwanamke ndoo kichwani. Mwanamke huyo alikuwa amebeba ndoo ya maji kichwani aliyoyachotea kwenye mto wa Mangu, kwa sababu hayakuwepo maji katika kijiji chake hicho.

Mtu huyo alikutana naye njiani akamsaidia kuitua ndoo hiyo kutoka kichwani kwa sababu alimuonea huruma. Ndiyo maana alisema kwamba, “nimemtua mwanamke ndoo kichwani.”

Msemo huo hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ana huruma ya kuwasaidia wanawake wanakumbwa na matatizo mbalimbali, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwasaidia wakina mama katika kutatua tatizo la kukosa maji kwa kuwachimbia kisima cha maji kijijini mwao, kwa sababu ya huruma yake hiyo, maishani mwake. Yeye huwasaidia wakina mama wengi wenye matatizo mbalimbali katika kuyatatua matatizo yao, kwa sababu ya huruma yake hiyo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule mtu aliyemuonea huruma mwanamke aliyekuwa amebeba ndoo ya maji kichwani mpaga akamsaidia kuitua ndoo hiyo kichwani, kwa sababu naye huwasaidia wanawake wengi wenye matatizo ya kukosa maji kwa kuwachimbika kisima cha maji kijijini mwao, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “nimemtua mwanamke ndoo kichwani.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na huruma ya kuwasaidia wanawake wanaosumbuliwa na matatizo mbalimbali ili waweze kuyatatua haraka, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE DROPPED A BUCKET FROM A WOMAN’S HEAD.

There was a man who lived in the village of Mwatuju who met a woman carrying a bucket on her head. The woman was carrying a bucket of water on her head that she had drawn from Mangu River, because there was no water in her village.

This man met her on the way and helped her put the bucket off her head because he felt sorry for her. That is why he said, “I have dropped a bucket from a woman’s head.”

This saying is matched to a man who has compassion for helping women who face various problems in their lives. Such person helps mothers in solving problem of lack of water by digging a well for them in their village, because of his compassion for them in his life. He helps various mothers who had several problems in solving their hitches, because of his compassion, in his life.

This man resembles the one who felt sad for a woman carrying a bucket of water on her head and helped her put it down from her head, because he also helps a lot of women who face water problems by digging a well for them in their village. That is why he says that, “I have dropped a bucket from a woman’s head.”

This saying teaches people about having compassion for helping women who suffer from various difficulty so that they can solve them quickly, in their lives.

Yeye hukosa Baraka za kumwezesha kuishi kwa furaha katika familia yake, kwa sababu ya uchoyo wake huo wa kutowashirikisha wenzake mali zake hizo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyewaficha wenzake kitu fulani kwa kutumia maneno yenye mafumbo mpaga akawacha bila ufafanuzi, kwa sababu naye huwanyima wenzake mali zake kwa kutumia ujanja wa kumwezesha kutowapa mali zake hizo, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “nimekuacha bila ufafanuzi.”

Msemo huo hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha uchoyo kwa kuwasaidia wenzao walioko kwenye matatizo ili waweze kupata Baraka za kuishi kwa furaha katika familia zao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE LEFT YOU WITHOUT EXPLANATION.

Once upon a time, there was a man who spoke to his companions by using cryptic words. These words prevented his companions from understanding his message properly because he intended to hide something from them. Such man left his acquaintances in a state of lacking explanation for his cryptic words. That is why he said, “I have left you without explanation.”

This saying is equaled to a person who is greedy in not sharing his possessions with his companions, in his life. Such person hides his possessions from his companions by using cunning deeds which can enable him to stop giving his companions who ask for his possessions, because of his greed in his life. He lacks blessings that can enable him to live happily in his family, because of his greed of not sharing his possessions with his companions in life.

This person is like someone who hid something from his friends by using cryptic words which left them without explanation, because he also deprives his friends of his possessions by using cunning deeds which enables him not to give them his possessions in his life. That is why he says, “I have left you without explanation.”

This saying imparts in people a clue of giving up greed by helping their friends who are in trouble so that they can receive blessings of living happily in their families.

1326. IZUGA LYA MANYANYA NULU HALIMI DUHU JUPYA.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako ilolile bhuzugi bho manyanya. A manyanya genayo gadi nizuga lidamu kunguno unzugi ogo adulile nulu gugachembagula duhu ugaleka mulimi gupya. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agagutumamaga unimo gunuyo bho nduhu nulu gunoga. Hunagwene agayombaga giki “izuga lya manyanya nulu halimi duhu jupya.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo adebhile gutumama milimo yakwe chiza, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikalaga na milimo mingi iyo aidebhile uguitumama mpaga oyimala chiza kunguno ya witegeleja bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agapandikaga sabho ningi noyi aha kaya yakwe kunguno ya witegeleja bhokwe bhunubho ubho gudebha guitumama mingi chiza chiniko, umukikalile kakwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo agikolaga nuyo oliadebhile guzuga nyanya chiza, kunguno nuweyi adebhile gutumama milimo yakwe chiza chiniko, umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene agayombaga giki, “izuga lya manyanya nulu halimi duhu jupya.”

KISWAHILI: UPISHI WA NYANYA HATA JUANI TU ZINAIVA.

Chanzo cha msemo huo huangalia upishi wa nyanya. Nyanya hizo hazina mapishi magumu kwa sababu mpikaji wake aweza hata kuzikatakata tu akaziacha juani zikaiva. Mtu huyo huifanya kazi hiyo bila hata ya kumchosha. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “upishi wa nyanya hata juani tu zinaiva.”

Yeye hupata mali nyingi sana kwenye familia yake kwa sababu ya umakini wake huo wa kuzielewa na kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi zake hizo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyeelewa kupika nyanya vizuri, kwa sababu naye anaelewa kuzitekeleza kazi zake vizuri, maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana yeye husema kwamba, “upishi wa nyanya hata juani tu zinaiva.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na umakini wa kuzielewa na kuzitekeleza vizuri kazi zao zote, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, maishani mwao.

Such person does several tasks that he understands how to do, and he finishes them well, because of his responsiveness, in his life. He earns a lot of wealth in his family because of his thoughtfulness of understanding and carrying out his tasks well, in his life.
