KISWAHILI: PATA PESA (MALI) TUJUE TABIA YAKO.

Msemo huo, huongelea juu ya ujulikanaji wa tabia ya mtu aliyepata mali. Alikuwepo mtu ambaye tabia yake haikufahamika vizuri wakati hajapata pesa. Mtu huyo, alipopata pesa watu waliifahamu tabia yake kwa sababu alianza kujivuna kwa kuwadharau wale ambao hawajapata mali kama zake. Ndiyo maana watu walimwambia kwamba, “pata pesa (mali) tujue tabia yako.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule aliyetajirika kwa kupata mali akaanza kuwadharau wenzake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwadharau watu wale ambao hawana mali kwa sababu ya majivuno yake hayo maishani mwake. Yeye hukosa Baraka za kuilea vyema familia yake kwa sababu ya kulingia mali zake hizo, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyepata pesa akaanza kuwadharau wenzake, kwa sababu naye pia huwadharau watu wale ambao hawana pesa, kama zake maishani mwake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “pata pesa (mali) tujue tabia yako.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu wenye mali juu ya kuacha tabia ya kuwadharau wale ambao hawana mali, ili waweze kupata Baraka za kuzilea vyema familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: GET MONEY (PROPERTY) SO WE KNOW YOUR CHARACTER.

This saying talks about character recognition of a person who got wealth. There was a man whose character was not well known when he did not earn money. That person, when he got money, people knew his behavior because he started becoming proud by looking down on those who have not got wealth like his. That is why people told him that, “get money (property) so we know your character.”

This saying is compared to a person who got rich by getting wealth and started to despise his colleagues, in his life. Such person despises those who have no wealth because of his pride in his life. He misses blessings of raising his family well because of his pride in life.

This person is like the one who got money and started despising his colleagues, because he also despises people who do not have money, like his own in his life. That is why people tell him that, “get money (property) so we know your character.”

This saying imparts in rich people an idea of stopping looking down on people who do not have money, so that they can get blessings for raising their families well, in their lives.

Abhanhu bhenabho bhagikolaga nabho bhagabhulaga ntugo go gusangija makono kunguno nabho bhali nikujo lya kubhambilija chiza abhatale na bhageni bhabho umukaya jabho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagabhayombaga giki, “bhasanjaga makono.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza ni kujo lya kubhambilija abhatale na gubhokalibhusha chiza abhageni bhabho umukaya jabho kugiki bhadule kujilela chiza ikaya jabho jinijo, umubhulamu bhobho.

KISWAHILI: WAMEKUTANISHA MIKONO.

Chanzo cha msemo huo chaongelea juu ya baba mkwe na mkwilima wake au mama mkwe na mkaa mwana wake. Watu hao kabla hawajazoeana kwa kula pamoja, huchinja mfugo kama vile mbuzi au kondoo wa kukutanisha mikono. Ndiyo maana wale waliokula mbuzi huyo watu husema juu yao kwamba, “wamekutanisha mikono.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa watu wale ambao wana heshima kwa wakubwa na wageni wao, katika maisha yao. Watu hao, huwasaidia wakubwa na kuwakaribisha wageni wao vizuri katika familia zao, kwa sababu ya heshima yao hiyo, maishani mwao. Wao huishi na watu wengi na mali nyingi kwenye familia zao, kwa sababu ya kuwalea katika malezi mema watu wao hao.

Watu hao hufanana na wale waliochinja mfugo wa kukutanisha mikono, kwa sababu nao wana heshima ya kuwasaidia vizuri wakubwa wao na kuwapokea vizuri wageni katika familia zao. Ndiyo maana watu husema juu yao kwamba, “wamekutanisha mikono.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na heshima ya kuwasaidia watu na kuwakaribisha wageni kwenye familia zao, ili waweze kuzilea vyema familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THEY HAVE JOINED HANDS.

This saying talks about the father-in-law and his daughter-in-law or the mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law. Those people, before they get used to eating together, slaughter livestock such as goats or sheep for joining their hands together in their families. That is why those who ate the goat, people say about them that, “they have joined hands.”

This saying is equated to people who have respect to their superiors and guests, in their lives. Those people, help their elders and welcome their guests well in their families, because of their respect, in their lives. They live with many people and many assets in their families, because of raising their members in a good upbringing.

Those people are similar to those who slaughtered livestock for being together with their new family members, because they also have an honor of helping their elders and receiving guests well in their families. That is why people say about them that, “they have joined hands.”

This saying imparts in people an idea of having sound respect to each other enough to help people and welcome strangers in their families, so that they can raise their family members well in their lives.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, alina nguzu ijo agajitumilaga bho gutumama milimo midito mpaga opandika majiliwa mingi kunguno ya wiyumilija bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe. Uweyi agabhalangaga abhanhu bhakwe gutumama milimo midamu mpaga bhadula gung’wambilija gupandika sabho ningi aha kaya yakwe, umubhutumami bhokwe bhunubho.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo oliobhucha liwe litale mpaga wambilijiwa na ng’wiye, kunguno nuweyi agatumamaga milimo midito bho gubhalanga abhanhu bhakwe mpaga bhadule gung’wambilija chiza, a kaya yakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “wikijiwa iwe.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gwiyumilija gutumama milimo yabho bho bhukamu bhutale mpaga bhadule gupandika sabho jagubhambilija chiza umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: AMESHUSHIWA JIWE.

Alikuwepo mtu aliyebeba jiwe kubwa kwenye mabega yake akilipeleka nyumbani kwake. Mtu huyo alilibeba kwa uvumilivu jiwe hilo mpaka akasaidiwa na mtu fulani aliyemshushia mzigo huo kutoka kwenye mabega yake. Ndiyo maana watu walisema kwamba, “ameshushiwa jiwe.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hufanya kazi ngumu kwa uvumilivu mkubwa, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, ana nguvu anazozitumia katika kufanya kazi hizo nzito mpaka anapata mazao mengi ya chakula kwa sababu ya uvumilivu wake huo, maishani mwake. Yeye huwafundisha watu wake kufanya kazi hizo ngumu mpaka wanaweza kumsaidia kupata mali nyingi kwenye familia yake, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyebeba jiwe kubwa mabegani mwake kwa uvumilivu mpaka akasaidiwa na mwenzake, kwa sababu naye pia hufanya kazi nzito kwa kuwafundisha watu wake mpaka wanaweza kumsaidia kutua mzigo mzito katika familia yake. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “ameshushiwa jiwe.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuvumilia kufanya kazi zao kwa bidii kubwa mpaka waweze kupata mali za kutosha kuwasidia vizuri katika maishani yao yote.

There was a man who carried a big stone on his shoulders to his home. This man patiently carried it until he was helped by someone who lowered the burden from his shoulders. That is why people said that, “he has been stoned.”

This saying is equaled to a person who works hard with great patience, in his life. That person has strength of using in doing those heavy tasks until he gets a lot of food crops because of his patience in his life. He teaches his people in doing hard works until they can help him in getting more wealth for his family, in his life.

This person is similar to the one who carried a big stone on his shoulders with patience until he was helped by his colleague, because he also does heavy works by teaching his people until they can help him to land heavy burdens in his family. That is why people say that, “he has been stoned.”

This saying teaches people to persevere in doing their works with great effort until they get enough wealth for supporting them well throughout their lives.

Imbuki ya kahayile kenako ilolile bhulagiji bho jitungulu bho ng’wa munhu nhebhe. Umunhu ng’winuyo agasanga abhiye bhalimalija gulya jiliwa jasagaga jigehu duhu.

Ijiliwa ijigehu jinijo jigalenganijiyagwa na jitunduhu ja nhumbi kunguno jili gung’wisho go mili go ng’wumbi yiniyo. Uweyi agagelela gulya jutundulu duhu ugalala. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayomba giki, “agalagila jitundulu gete.”

Akahayile kenako kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agakelejaga ugushika uko milimo yakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agajaga ukumilimo yakwe bho gukeleja bhuli lushiku kunguno ya bhukokolo bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agadumaga ugupandika ijiliwa ija guilisha ikaya yakwe bhuli ng’waka kunguno ya gukeleja ugulima chiniko umuwikaji bhokwe bhunubho.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo agasanga bhalimalija ugulya abhiye, ugelela jitundulu duhu, kunguno nuweyi agakelejaga uguja ukumilimo yakwe mpaka nose oduma ugupandika ijiliwa bhuli ng’waka. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “agalagila jitundulu gete.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gwanguha ugujutumama imilimo yabho, kugiki bhadule gupandika matwajo mingi umutumami bho milimo yabho yiniyo, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: ALISHINDIA KIWILIWILI CHA MWISHONI KABISA.

 Chanzo cha msemo huo, huangalia ushindiaji wa kiwiliwili wa mtu fulani. Mtu huyo, aliwakuta wenzake wakimalizia kula chakula kikiwa kimebakia kidoto tu.

Chakula hicho kidogo, hulinganishwa na kiwiliwili cha panzi ambacho kiko sehemu ya mwisho wa mwili wa panzi huyo. Yeye alikomea kula kiwiliwili hicho tu akalala. Ndiyo maana watu walisema kwamba, “ameshindia kiwiliwili cha mwishoni kabisa.”

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule aliyewakuta wenzake wakila akakomea kula kiwiliwili tu, kwa sababu naye huchelewa kwenda kwenye kazi zake mpaka mwishowe anashindwa kupata chakula cha kutosha kila mwaka. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “ameshindia kiwiliwili cha mwishoni kabisa.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwahi kwenda kuyatekeleza majukumu yao, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi katika kazi zao hizo, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: HE TRULY SPENT THE WHOLE DAY AFTER EATING JUST A LAST BODY PART.

 This saying looks at spending day of a certain person who ate a small portion of food. Such man found his colleagues finishing eating who only ate a small left portion.

This little portion of food is equated to a body of a grasshopper which is at an end of its body. He only ate that body and fell asleep. That is why people said that, “he truly spent the whole day after eating just a last body part.”

This saying is related to a person who is always late to his works in his life. Such person goes to his work late every day because of his laziness. He fails to get much food every year because of such delay in his family farming.

This person is like the one who found his colleagues finished eating food who ate only the small last body part, because he is also late to his works until finally he fails to get enough food every year. That is why people tell him that, “he truly spent the whole day after eating just a last body part.”

This saying teaches people about ever going to carry out their duties on time, so that they can get a lot of success in their works, in their lives.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agatumamaga milimo midamu bho gutumila nguzu ningi na wiyumilija bhutale kunguno ya bhukamu bhokwe bhunubho. Uweyi agapandikaga sabho ningi aka hakaya yakwe yiniyo kunguno ya wiyumilija bhokwe bhunubho, umubhutumami bho milimo yakwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nuyo wiganikagaga giki umili gokwe guli ndamu guti iwe, kunguno nuweyi agatumamaga milimo yakwe bho nguzu ningi na wiyumilija bhutale umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene agayombaga giki, “nalingala iwe.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gwigulambija gutumama milimo yabho bho nguzu ninyi na wiyumilija bhutale, kugiki bhadule gupandika matwajo mingi, umukaya jabho.

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao kwa nguvu na uvumilivu mkubwa, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi, katika familia zao.
