879. UDIZUNG’WISANYA UYANG’WILE WALWA UB’EB’E NANG’HO JAGA NA MILIMO YAKO.

Ulusumo lunulo, luhoyelile higulya ya ng’wi o walwa. Ung’wi o walwa ng’wunuyo, agalelengetaka na gugwa sagala umubhusiminzi b’okwe, kunguno agamalaga inguzu ja gwimila na gutumama milimo yakwe. Uweyi agagayiyagwa ubhudula bho gubhambilija abhanhu bhakwe, kunguno ya bhung’wi bhokwe wa walwa bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagiwilaga giki, “udizung’wisanya uyang’wile walwa nang’ho jaga na milimo yako.”

KISWAHILI: USIMTEGEMEE ALIYEKUNYWA POMBE WEWE NAWE NENDA NA SHUGHULI ZAKO.

Methali hiyo, huongelea juu ya ulevi wa pombe. Mlevi huyo wa pombe hutembea kwa kupepesuka na kuanguka hovyo katika kutembea kwake, kwa sababu ya kukosa nguvu za kumwezesha kusimama na kufanya kazi zake. Yeye hukosa uwezo wa kuwasaidia watu wake kwa sababu ya ulevi wake huo. Ndiyo maana watu huambiana kwamba, “usimtegemee aliyekunywa pombe wewe nawe endelea na shughuli zako.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huongea maneno ya hovyo hovyo, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwa anaongea maneno bila kuyafikiria vizuri sababu huwa anayageuza kila wakati kana kwamba hakuyasema mwenyewe. Yeye hushindwa kuindeleza vizuri familia yake kwa sababu ya kukosa maneno mema katika mawazo yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule mlevi wa pombe aliyekosa uwezo wa kuwasaidia watu wake, kwa sababu naye hukosa mawazo mema ya kuiendeleza familia yake, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu huaambiana kwamba, “usimtegemee aliyekunywa pombe wewe nawe endelea na shughuli zako.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha ulevi wa pombe katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuwaza mema ya kuwasaidia kuziendeleza vizuri, familia zao.

ENGLISH: DO NOT DEPEND ON DRUNKARD YOU JUST GO ON WITH YOUR WORKS.

This proverb speaks of alcoholism. The alcoholic person walks with difficulty and falls unconscious in his walk, due to a lack of strength to stand up and perform his duties. He lacks an ability to help his people because of his drunkenness. That is why people say to one another that “do not depend on a drunkard you just go on with your works.”

This proverb is compared to a person who speaks carelessly in his life. This person speaks words without thinking well because he always twists them as if he did not say them. He fails to provide his family with basic needs because of a lack of good words in his mind.

This person is like the alcoholic person who was unable to help his people, because he also lacks good ideas for supporting his family. That is why people say to one another that “do not depend on a drunkard you just go on with your works.”

This proverb instills in people an idea of giving up alcoholic addiction in their lives, so that they can think of good ideas which are necessary for developing their families.

Akahayile kenako, kahoyelile higulya ya nzagamba na ng’hinda jayo. Inzagamba ili ng’ombe ng’osha iyo igalyaga maswa madoto iguta mpaga yabhiza na ng’hinda ja gubhakoya abhiye. Inzagamba yiniyo, igandyaga guyubatula sagala abhichayo, kunguno ya ng’hinda jayo jinijo. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “iyagamba ligatulaga ng’hinda.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agabhadalahaga abhiye ulu wigutaga, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agalyaga wiguta wandya kubhadalaga abhanhu b’akwe kunguno ya bhusab’i ubho bhugang’winhaga ng’hinda. Uweyi agadumaga ugwikala chiza na bhiye kunguno ya libhengwe lyakwe ilo abhizaga nalyo ulu osabhaga, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga ni nzagamba iyo igapandika ng’hinda aho yalya maswa madoto yiguta, kunguno nuweyi agabhadalahaga abhiye ulu osabhaga jikolo, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “iyagamba ligatulaga ng’hinda.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya kuleka ng’hinda ulu bhasabhaga, umukikalile kabho, kugiki bhadule gubhiza na widohya bho gubhambilija gwikala chiza na bhichabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: FAHALI HUWA NA KIBURI.

Msemo huo, huongelea juu ya Fahali na kiburi chake. Fahali ni dume la ng’ombe ambaye hula majani mabichi akashiba mpaga akawa na kiburi cha kuwasumbua wenzake. Fahali huyo, huanza kuwapiga hovyo wenzake kwa sababu ya kiburi chake hicho. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “Fahali huwa na kiburi.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huwadharau wenzake anapokula na kushiba, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, akila na kushiba huanza kuwadharau watu wake kwa sababu ya utajiri wake  huo unaomletea kiburi. Yeye hushindwa kuishi vizuri na wenzake, kwa sababu ya dharau anayokuwa nayo atajilikapo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na Fahali aliyepata kiburi baada ya kula majani mabichi akashiba, kwa sababu naye huwadharau wenzake anapotajirika, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “Fahali huwa na kiburi.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuachana na kiburi wanapotajirika, katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuwa na unyenyekevu wa kuwawezesha kuishi vizuri na wenzao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THE BULL HAS PRIDE.

This saying speaks of the bull and its pride. The bull is male cattle that eats green grass to the point of being proud enough to bother his fellows after his stomach being full.  He begins to beat his fellow bulls because of his arrogance. That is why people say, “the Bull has are pride.”

This saying is compared to a man who despises his fellows when he becomes successfully in life. He eats food to the point of being satisfied enough to despise his people because of his wealth which makes him proud. He fails to get along with his fellows, because of his contempt to others, in his life.

This man is like the bull that got proud after eating green grass and was full, because he also despises his fellows when he gets rich, in his life. That is why people say to him, “the bull has pride.”

This saying teaches people about giving up pride when they get rich, in their lives, so that they can have humility for living well with their societal members, in their lives.

Ikalagu yiniyo, ilolile kikalile ka nswa. Unswa jilisunbwa ijo jigikalaga jiguzengaga bhuli lushigu. Aliyo lulu, inzenga yago idashilaga. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagiganilaga giki, “bhuli lushugu aguzengaga nduhu yalema ugushila inzenga – Nswa.”

Ikalagu yiniyo, igalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agatumamaga milimo mingi bhuli lushiku, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agandyaga gutumama milimo mitale ni midoo mingi halumo. Uweyi agapandikaga sabho ja gung’wambilija uguibheja chiza ikaya yakwe kunguno ya wigulambija bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu nswa uyo gudamalaga nzenga, kunguno nuweyi agatumama bhuli lushiku umumilimo yakwe imitale ni midododo, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “bhuli lushugu aguzengaga nduhu yalema ugushila inzenga – Nswa.”

Ikalagu yiniyo, yalanga bhanhu higulya ya gwigulambija gutumama milimo bho witegeleja bhutale, kugiki bhadule gupandika sabho ja gubhambilija ugujibheja chiza ikaya jabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: KITENDAWILI – TEGA.

KILA KUKICHA ANAJENGA NA UJENZI HAUJAISHA – MCHWA.

Kitendawili hicho, huangalia maisha ya mchwa. Mchwa ni kiumbe ambacho huwa kinajenga kila siku. Lakini, ujenzi wake huwa hauishi. Ndiyo maana watu walianza kuhadithiana kwamba, “kila kukicha anajenga na ujenzi haujaisha – mchwa.”

Kitendawili hicho, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hufanya kazi nyingi kila siku, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huanza kutekeleza majukumu makubwa huku akiwa anaendelea na kazi ndogo ndogo nyingi kwa pamoja. Yeye hupata mali za kumsaidia katika kuiendeleza vizuri familia yake, kwa sababu ya bidii yake hiyo ya kuedelea kuyatekeleza majukumu yake ya kila siku, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na mchwa aliyejishugulisha kufanya kazi kila siku, kwa sababu naye hujishugulisha kila siku katika kuyatekeleza majukumu yake ya kuiendeleza familia yake, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “kila kukicha anajenga na ujenzi haujaisha – mchwa.”

Kitendawili hicho, hufundisha watu juu ya kujibidisha katika kuyatekeleza majukumu yao kwa umakini mkubwa ili waweze kupata mali za kuziletea maendeleo familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: I HAVE A RIDDLE – LET IT COME.

EVERY DAY IT BUILDS AND THE BUILDING IS NOT FINISHED – ANT.

This riddle looks at the life of ants. Ants are creatures that build up every day. But, their construction is usually not finished, because they continue building almost all the time. That is why people began to tell each other that, “every day it builds and the building is not finished – ant.”

This riddle is compared to a person who does a lot of work every day, in his life. This person begins to take on greater responsibilities as he continues to perform many smaller tasks together. He earns a living by helping others in the family, because of his/her diligence in carrying out the daily responsibilities in life.

This person resembles to an ant that was busy every day, because he is also busy every day in fulfilling his responsibilities that supports his family. That is why people tell him that, “every day it builds and the building is not finished – ant.”

This riddle instills in people a clue on how to work hard enough to fulfill their responsibilities so that they can have plenty resources for their developing their families, in lives.

Uweyi adishadyaga mumilimo iyo adaidebhile chiza, kunguno ahayile bhayitumame abho bhaimanile, kugiki bhadule kupandika matwajo mingi, umuwikaji bhobho.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu ngosha uyo oliadazugaga ilijiwa, uyo ozugilagwa na nke okwe oli adebhile, kunguno nuweyi agabhalekalaga abhiye bhaitumame imilimo iyo adaimanile chiza, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagag’witanaga giki, “jidapanda manho.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gwilanga milimo na gwigulambija guitumama chiza imilimo iyo bhaimanile, bho gubhalekela bhangi iyo bhadaimanile, kugiki bhadule gupandika matwajo mingi, umuwikaji bhobho.

Alikuwepo mwanaume wa kwenye familia moja aliyekuwa amekataa kupika chakula. Mwanaume huyo, alikuwa akipikiwa chakula hicho na mke wake kila siku, katika maisha yake. Yeye hukufahamu kukanyaga kishikilia chombo cha kupikia. Ndiyo maana watu walimuita kwamba, “asiyekanyaga kishikilia chombo cha kupikia.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huyatekeleza kwa bidii majukumu anayoyaelewa vizuri kwa kufuata maumbile yake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hujibidisha kuzifanya kazi ambazo anazifahamu, kwa kuanzia asubuhi hadi hata jioni. Yeye huwa ajiingizi kwenye kazi zile ambazo haizifahamu vizuri, kwa sababu hupenda kuwaachia wazitekeleze wale wanaozielewa, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi zaidi, maishani mwao.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na mwanaume yule aliyemwachia kazi ya kupika yule anayeilewa ambaye ni mke wake, kwa sababu naye huwaachia wengine wayatekeleze majukumu yale asiyoyafahamu vizuri, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humuita kwamba, “asiyekanyaga kishikilia chombo cha kupikia.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kujifunza kazi, na kujibidisha kuzitekeleza zile wanazozifahamu, kwa kuwaachia wengine wanaozifahamu zile wasizozifahamu, ili waweze kupata mafanikio mengi zaidi, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: HE WHO DOES NOT STEP ON THE COOKING VESSEL HOLDER.

There was a man in who refused to cook in his family. His wife cooked for him every day. He did not know how to step on a cooking utensil. That is why people called him, “he who does not step on the cooking vessel holder.”

This saying is compared to a person who diligently carries out responsibilities that he fully understands by following in his life. Such person in turn, strives to fulfill those responsibilities which he is familiar with, from morning till evening. He does not engage in activities that he does not know well, because he likes to let those who understand them fulfill them, so that they can have more success in their lives.

This person resembles the man who left his cooking job to his wife; because he also lets others take on responsibilities that he does not know well, in his life. That is why people call him, “he who does not step on the cooking vessel holder.”

This saying imparts in people an idea on how learn a trade, and strives to apply what they know, by letting others do who know what they do not know, so that they may have more success in their lives.

Uweyi agabhalangaga abhanhu bhake injila ja kupandika solobho nu bhusiminzi bhobho, kunguno adayelaga dalali, umubhutumani bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunyo, agikolaga nu nimi unkumuku ukubhanhu bhakwe uyo agapandika majiliwa mingi, kunguno nuweyi agabhatongelaga abhanhu bhakwe bho guyela na bhulingisilo bho gupandika solobho ukuwikaji bhobho, kikila guyunga dalali duhu, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “ng’wenuyo ogayugula makungu.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gubhiza na bhulingisilo bho gupandika solobho ya kubheja wikaji bho bhanhu chiza umubhuyeji bhobho, na guleka gulela dalali duhu, kugiki bhadule kupandika sabho ningi, umuwikaji bhobho.

Mkulima huyo, alifanikiwa kupata mazao mengi yakiwemo yale ya chakula, ambayo yalimwezesha kusifika mpaka kwenye tawala za maeneo mengine, kule ambako hakuwahi kufika, kwa sababu ya kueleweka kwake kulikofikisha na watu waliopata chakula kutoka kakwe, na wengine waliopata nafasi ya kumuona. Ndiyo maana watu walisema kwamba, “huyo ametembelea maeneo mengi.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye ni kiongozi wa watu katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwatembelea watu wake kwa malengo maalumu, ya kuleta faida katika maendeleo yao. Yeye huwafundisha watu wake njia mbalimbali za kupata faida za kuendelea kuwambelea kwa malengo yenye manufaa kwao, kwa sababu huwa hatembei bila la lengo lenye kuleta maendeleo kwa wananchi wake, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na mkulimwa aliyepata mazao yalimuwezesha kusifika kwa watu wengi, kwa sababu naye huwaongoza watu wake kupitia maisha yake namna ya kupanga safari zenye malengo ya kuwaendeleza watu wake, badala ya kutembea bure tu, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “huyo ametembelea maeneo mengi.”

Msemo huyo, hufundisha watu juu kupanga safari zenye kuleta manufaa ya kuwaendeleza watu wao, badala ya kusafiri bila faida yoyote, ili waweze kupata maendeleo makubwa, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THAT ONE HAS VISITED MANY PLACES.

The above saying refers to the visit of someone to many places which were located in certain administrations. There was a farmer who visited all his people on foot. Such farmer managed to get a lot of produce, including food, which enabled him to be famous to other places, where he had never been there, because of his being understood by the people who received food from him. Others had the opportunity to see him. That is why people said, “that one has visited many places.”

This saying is compared to the person who is the leader of the people in his life. He visits his people for specific purposes, enough to bring benefits to their development. He teaches his people various ways for gaining welfares of continuing to pursue them with goals that are beneficial to them.  He does not walk without a goal that brings development to his people, in his life.

This man resembles the farmer who got produce that made him famous, because he also guides his people through his life on how to plan trips which aim at developing his people, instead of just walking aimlessly, in his life. That is why people say to him, “that one has visited many places.”

This saying teaches people on how to plan successful trips for the betterment of their people, rather than traveling without any benefit, so that they can make great progress in their lives.
