893. B’AGASHOKA B’ALUB’I.

Imbuki ya lusumo lunulo ilolile malub’i. Amalub’i jilinungu ijo jib’umbilwe na gulekwa duhu bho nduhu ugujitima. Giko lulu, ulub’iza b’aguji b’a nungu b’usanga jidatimile chiniko, ulu bhubhujiwa giki ali nungu ng’wajileka bhuli? Abhoyi bagushosaha giki ‘dasanga malub’i duhu jidinating’wa.’ Hunagwene bhagayombaga giki, “B’agashoka b’alub’i.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agatumama milimo yakwe bho nduhu uguimalija, umubhutumami bhokwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agayigelejaga bhunagi imilimo iyo agayandyaga guitumama, umukikalile kakwe. Uweyi agikalaga ukoyiwa na nzala akaya yakwe, kunguno ya bhutumami bhokwe bhunubho ubho guigeleja bhunagi imilimo yakwe, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga na bhabhumbi ba malub’i, abho bhagabhumba nungu bhukija ugujitima, kunguno nuweyi agaigelejaga bhunagi imilimo yakwe, umutumami bhokwe bhunubho. Hunagwene abhanhu abho bhagayigaiwa imilimo yakwe, “b’agashoka b’alub’i.”

KISWAHILI: WALIRUDI PASIPO KUKAMILIKA.

Chanzo cha methali hiyo, chaangalia vyungu. Vyungu hivyo ni vile ambavyo vilivinyangwa na kuachwa tu bila kutiwa motoni. Hivyo wakija wanunuzi wa vyungu hivyo na kuvikuta havijatiwa motoni hivyo, wakiulizwa, kuwa ‘mbona vyungu mmeviacha?’ Wao watajibu kwa kusema kwamba, “havijakamiklishwa.” Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “walirudi pasipo kukamilika.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hufanya kazi zake bila kuzikamilisha, katika utendaji wake wa kazi. Mtu huyo, huzianza kazi zake na kuziachia njiani kwa kuzitelekeza, katika maisha yake. Yeye husumbuliwa mara kwa mara na tatizo la kukosa chakula katika familia yake, kwa sababu ya utendaji wake huo wa kufanya kazi nusu bila kuzimaliza, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo hufanana na wale wafinyanzi wa vyungu waliofinyangwa tu na kuviachwa bila kuvitia motoni, kwa sababu naye hufanya kazi bila kuzikamilisha katika utendaji wake wa kazi. Ndiyo maana watu waliohitaji kazi hizo, “walirudi pasipo kukamilika.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuyatekeleza kwa ukamilifu majukumu yao wanayoaanzisha, ili waweze kupata mafanikio ya mali za kuwasaidia katika kuziendeleza vizuri familia, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THEY RETURNED INCOMPLETE.

The source of the overhead proverb looks at the pots. The pots are the ones that were made and left  without burning them. So when the buyers of the pots came found that they have not been burned returned home without them. They were asked that, ‘why did you leave the pots?’ They answered answer by saying, “They are not finished.” That is why people say that “they returned incomplete.”

This proverb is compared to a person who does his duties without completing them, in his life. He begins doing his work but he leaves it by abandoning it, in his life. He is constantly overwhelmed by famine in his family, because of his half-life performance in doing his works.

This man resembles to those potters who did not burn their pots after making them, because he also does not finish his works which he starts in his life. That is why those who needed such service “they returned incomplete.”

This proverb teaches people how to fully carry out the responsibilities they set up, so that they can have the financial success enough to develop their families, in their lives.

892. SHINGILIMA YENIYO ILI NG’HANJO NDITO.

Ishingilima guli nigo ndito go likujo ili ligenhagwa na bhupandiki bho ng’wa munhu. Olihoyi munhu uyo oli msabhi o jikolo aha ng’wakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, oliokumuka nguno ya bhupandiki bhokwe bhunubho, ubho sabho ningi ijo olinajo, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Ubhusabhi bhokwe bhunubho, bholenganijiyagwa na ng’hanjo iyo ili ndito uguizwala. Hunagwene abhanhu bhang’wilaga giki, “shingilima yeniyo ili ng’hanjo ndito.”

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu nsabhi uyo jigang’wenhela ikujo ukubhanhu isabho jakwe, kunguno nu weyi agigulambijaga gutumama milimo yakwe chiza mpaga opandika sabho ijo jigang’wenhelaga ikujo ubhabhanhu bhakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “shingilima yeniyo ili ng’hanjo ndito.”

KISWAHILI: HESHIMA HIYO NI KANZU NZITO.

Heshima ni mzigo wa kuheshimiwa na watu inayotokana na mafanikio yake mtu huyo. Alikuwepo mtu mmoja aliyekuwa tajiri wa vitu vingi. Mtu huyo, alisifika sana kwa sababu ya mafanikio yake hayo ya mali, katika maisha yake.

Utajiri wake huo, ulifananishwa na kanzu nzito ambayo huweza hata kumsumbua mvaaji wake. Ndiyo maana watu walimwambia kwamba, “heshima hiyo ni kanzu nzito.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hujibidisha kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yake mpaga anapata mali nyingi, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hulima mashamba makubwa ambayo humpatia mali za kutosha kumsaidia katika maisha yake. Yeye hupata heshima kwa watu kwa sababu ya mafanikio yake hayo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule tajiri aliyeheshimiwa na watu kutokana na mafanikio yake hayo ya  mali, kwa sababu naye hujibidisha kuyatekeleza vizuri majukumu yake, ambayo humpatatia mali zinazomletea heshima kwa watu wake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “heshima hiyo ni kanzu nzito.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kujibidisha kufanya kazi zao vizuri, ili waweze kupata mali za kuwasaidia katika kuziendeleza vizuri familia zao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: THAT HONOR IS A HEAVY COAT.

Respect is a responsibility to be respected by the people that is based on the person’s success. There was one man who was rich in many things. This man was well-known for his material achievements.

His wealth, however, was likened to a heavy coat that could even irritate his wearer. That is why people said to him, “that honor is a heavy coat.”

This proverb is equated to a man who strives to live his life in a way that pleases him. This man cultivates large plots of land that provide him with enough resources to support himself. He earns the respect of the people because of his success, in his life.

This man is like the rich man who was respected by the people for his wealth, because he also strives to carry out his duties, which give him wealth that brings honor to his people. That is why people say to him, “that honor is a heavy coat.”

This proverb teaches people about working hard in doing their jobs well, so that they can have resources to help them develop their families, in their lives.

891. NDUHU UNFULA UKUNU WELELO.

Olihoyi munhu umo, uyo wikalaga muchalo ja Ng’watuju. Umunhu ng’winuyo, oliakumukile giki alinfula noyi umuchalo jinijo. Lushigu lumo, agiduma na nzenganwa okwe mpaga bhiza bhanhu gubhayangula na gubhona giki uweyi alimhubhi. Abhanhu aho bhabhona chene bhagakumywa noyi kunguno yalilukangala lo gwandya uweyi ugwigela na bhuhubhi. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayonga giki, “nduhu infula ukunu Welelo.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agiyolechaga giki ali owiza, aliyo umunholo yake agabhizaga na miganiko ga bhub’i, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’winuyo, agayombaga mihayo ya wiza, aliyo munholo yakwe agiganikaga mihayo ya bhub’i ukubhiye. Uweyi agatumamaga milimo yakwe bho gwiyolecha kubhanhu kugiki bhankumilije, umukikalile kakwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga nu ng’wikaji o muchalo ja Ng’watuju, uyo aganhubhila unzenganwa okwe aliyo wigelaga giki aliyo wiza, kunguno nuweyi agiyolechaga ukubhanhu giki alinfula aliyo agiganikaga ya bhubhi, umuwikaji bhokwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “nduhu unfula ukunu Welelo.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya guwiza bhanhu bha nhana  bho gubhiganikila na gubhiwitila ya wiza abhichabho, kugiki bhadule gwikala chiza na bhanhu bhabho, umuwikaji bhabho.

KISWAHILI: HAKUNA MKAMILIFU HUKU DUNIANI.

Alikuwepo mtu mmoja aliyeishi katika kijiji cha Mwatuju. Mtu huyo, alisifika kuwa ni mkamilifu katika kijiji hicho kwa kadiri alivyoonekana kwa watu hao. Siku moja, alikosana na jirani yake mpaka wakaja watu kuwaamua, na kugundua kuwa yeye alikuwa na kosa. Watu walipoona hivyo walishangaa sana kwa sababu ilikuwa mara ya kwanza kwake kupatikana na kosa. Ndiyo maana walisema kwamba, “hakuna mkamilifu huku duniani.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye hujionesha kwa nje kuwa ni mwaminifu, lakini kwa ndani huwa na mawazo maovu moyoni mwake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huongea maneno mazuri lakini moyoni mwake huwa anawaza maovu. Yeye hutenda matendo kwa lengo la kujionesha kwa watu ili wamsifu, katika maisha yake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule mkaaji wa kijiji cha Mwatuji, aliyekosana na jirani yake, akapatikana na kosa wakati alionekana kuwa ni mwema, kwa sababu naye hufanya kazi zake kwa lengo la kujionesha kwa watu kuwa ni mwema wakati huwa ana anawawazia maovu wenzake, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “hakuna mkamilifu huku duniani.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa wakweli kwa kuwaza na kutenda matendo mema kwa wenzao, ili waweze kuishi vizuri na watu wao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: NO ONE IS PERFECT IN THIS WORLD.

There was one man who lived at Mwatuju village. He was known to be perfect in the village as he so appeared to the people. One day, he quarreled with his neighbor until people came to reconcile him, and discovered that he was wrong. When the people saw this, they were amazed because it was the first time that he had been found guilty. That is why they said, “no one is perfect in this world.”

This saying is compared to a person who outwardly appears to be faithful, but inwardly has evil thoughts in his heart. This person speaks good words but in his heart there are evils. He does works for the purpose of showing off to people who can praise Him, in His life.

This man is like the resident of Mwatuji village who was found guilty after quarreling with his neighbor while he appeared to be good, because he also does his work with the aim of showing himself to be good when he thinks evil about his fellows, in life. That is why people say to him that, “no one is perfect in this world.”

This saying imparts in people an idea how to be honest by thinking and doing good deeds to their fellows, so that they can live harmoniously with their people, in their lives.

Iyoyi hangi nulu igatulila ung´wana ng´wenuyo iki ali umo duhu ulu ucha munho nawagayiyagwa. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagayombaga giki, “Bodo wigi limo.”

Akahayile kenako, kagalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo adamanile gulang’hana jikolo jakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, apandikaga jikolo jigehu ijo igajilekanijaga mpaga jajimila, nulu jashila sagala, kunguno ya gukija ugwiganika chiza nzila ja gujilang’hanila ijikolo jinijo. Uweyi agagayiyagwa isabho kunguno ya gugayiwa ilisala lya gujilang’hanila chiza isabho jakwe jinijo, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga ni bodo iyo idinisala lya kujilang’hanila ijikolo jayo, kunguno nuweyi adiganikaga amasala gagujilang’hanila chiza isabho jakwe, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’witanaga giki, “Bodo wigi limo.”

Akahayile kenako, kalanga bhanhu higulya ya gub’iza na masala ga gujilang’hanila chiza ijikolo jabho, kugiki bhadule gujitumila kulikanza lilihu gugamalila amakoye gabho, umuwikaji bhobho.

KISWAHILI: BODO WA YAI MOJA.

Bodo ni ndege ambaye hutaga yai moja tu tena peupe. Ndege huyo, hukumbwa na tatizo la kukosa mtoto kwa sababu kama likivunjwa hilo yai ndiyo kusema kwamba atakosa. Hata kama akiangua mtoto huyo kwa vile ni mmoja tu akifa, yeye hukosa. Ndiyo maana watu husema kwamba, “Bodo wa yai moja.”

Msemo huo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye haelewi kutunza vitu vyake, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, hupata mali kidogo ambayo huitelekeza mpaka ikaisha hovyo, kwa sababu ya kutofikiri vizuri juu ya utunzaji wa mali hiyo. Yeye hukosa mali kwa sababu ya kukosa akili ya kuzitunzia vizuri mali hizo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na Bodo alisiyekuwa na akili ya kutunzia mali yake, kwa sababu naye huwa hafikilii akili ya kutunzia vizuri mali yake, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humuita kwamba ni “Bodo wa yai moja.”

Msemo huo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuwa na akili ya kuzitunzia vizuri mali zao, ili waweze kuzitumia kwa muda mrefu katika kutatua matatizo yao, maishani mwao.

Mithali 10:1. “Mwana mwenye hekima huleta furaha kwa baba yake, lakini mwana mpumbavu huleta huzuni kwa mama yake.”

Mithali 14:1. “Mwanamke mwenye hekima huijenga nyumba yake, bali mpumbavu huibomoa nyumba yake kwa mikono yake mwenyewe.”

ENGLISH: ONE EGG BODO [SMALL BIRD].

A bodo is a small bird that lays only one egg. Such bird has a problem of missing a baby because if her egg is broken means that, she will miss. Even if she loses the child because only one dies, she is also going to miss. That is why people call such bird that, a “One egg bodo [small bird].”

This saying is likened to a person who does not understand how to take care of his belongings, in his life. Such person acquires a small amount of property that he or she abandons until it ends up, because of a lack of good judgment. He/she loses property because of lacking wisdom for taking good care of it, in lifetime.

This person, resembles a small bird ‘Bodo’ that did not have mind for taking care of her baby, because he/she also does not have good mind for taking care of property, in life. That is why people call him/her that a, “One egg bodo [small bird].”

This saying, teaches people on how to have good mind enough to take care of their possessions, so that they can use them for solving their problems, in their lives.

Proverbs 10: 1. “A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.”

Proverbs 14: 1. “The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.”

Ulusumo lunulo, lugalenganijiyagwa kuli munhu uyo agayigaluchaga imihayo iyo agahoyaga na bhiye bho guyomba mihayo ya bhulomolomo, umukikalile kakwe. Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agahoyaga kihamo na bhiye chiza. Aliyo lulu, ulu ulekana duhu na bhiye bhenabho, agayomgaga mihayo ya bhulomolomo uko alibhitila, bho guyigalucha iyo bhaluhoyaga na bhiye. Uweyi agalisanyaga bhanhu kunguno ya guyomba mihayo ya bhulomolomo bhokwe bhunubho, umuwikaji bhokwe.

Umunhu ng’wunuyo, agikolaga ni ngoko iyo iganyela undimiji oyo, kunguno nu weyi agayigaluchaga imihayo ya bhiye bho guyomba bhulomolomo, umukikalile kakwe. Hunagwene abhanhu bhagang’wilaga giki, “oninyela ngoko mhanga.”

Methali hiyo huangalia kunya kwa mzima. Kuku akiwa kwenye mikono ya mtu fulani huichafua kwa kumnyea kwa sababu ya kutaka kukimbia. Ndiyo maana mtu huyo husema, “umeninyea kuku mzima.”

Methali hiyo, hulinganishwa kwa mtu yule ambaye huyageuza maneno aliyoongea na wenzake, kwa kusema uongo, katika maisha yake. Mtu huyo, huwa anaongea pamoja na wenzake vizuri. Lakini, akiachana tu na wenzake hao, husema maneno ya uongo anakopitia kwa kuyageuza yale waliokuwa wakiongea na wenzake hao. Yeye huwagombanisha watu kwa sababu ya kusema uongo wake huo, maishani mwake.

Mtu huyo, hufanana na yule kuku aliyemnyea mshiliaji wake, kwa sababu naye huyageuza maneno ya wenzake kwa kusema uongo, katika maisha yake. Ndiyo maana watu humwambia kwamba, “umeninyea kuku mzima.”

Methali hiyo, hufundisha watu juu ya kuacha tabia ya kusema maneno ya uongo katika maisha yao, ili waweze kuishi kwa amani na wenzao, maishani mwao.

ENGLISH: YOU HAVE DEFECATED ME A LIVING CHICK.

This proverb looks at a defecation of a hen. A chicken in someone’s arms pollutes when one was scratching it because it wants to run away. That is why he says, “you have defecated me a living chick.”

This proverb is equated to a man who distorts words which he speaks with his associates, by lying, in his life. He communicates well with his colleagues. But, as soon as he leaves his companions, he speaks the false words on the way by twisting what they were speaking with his contemporaries. He confuses people because he tells them lie, in his life.

This man is like the hen that defecated on the hands of the one who held it, because he also distorts words of his fellows by lying, in his life. That is why people say to him that, “you have defecated me a living chick.”

This proverb teaches people about giving up habits of lying in their lives, so that they can live in peace with each other, in their lives.
